I've seen a similar thing in Astro Boy, but it does get better in this as you progress.—the game overall just feels shallow. it's fun in a sense "omg look at all the things on the screen going boom" or "wow, a boss that transforms 7 times". —in the first level, you don't even need to kill anything but bosses. I don't get it.—aiming shot is just the game playing itself.—weirdly divided abilities between fixed and free mode. way less than in GBA version. throwing enemies seems either inconvenient or pointless. body toss feels OP.—a few weapons just feel dumb / near useless.—Dice Palace.All in all, it's a very arcade-style game, for better or for worse.

The flaws become apparent on higher difficulties (most players just mindlessly brute force their way through on normal), and the shmup section is legitimately one of the worst sections in all of gaming. >>10255218Cuphead is closest to Contra Hard Corps if anything, and as much as I love Hard Corps (beat it no damage with Ray), Cuphead is definitely the better game. Boss design is miles better in terms of theming, animation, design, attack patterns and variation, challenge, and overall movement/control. The average boss in Cuphead is about as good as the absolute best boss in Metal Slug or Contra.
