Back in the day this gen made /vp/ cum and shit their pants at the same time. Does it still hold up?
>>53860347Time has done nothing but redeem B/W. The Region Lock is still one of the best things Masuda's done, the plot and characters are engaging with a fair amount of meta and subtext, the battles are absolutely snappy and teambuilding is a dream. The only downside is the death of online and the Dream World.
>>53860347>Does it still hold up?It never did
Every problem with modern Pokemon can be traced back to BW1.
>>53860445RS, actually.
s'okay.
>>53860466RG, actually.
>>53860347Back in the day /vp/ fucking hated that game, just like it does every new game release. The reason it likes it now is because the toddlers that grew up with it are now old enough to be on 4chan
>>53860347>Does it still hold up?Yeah there's still about 4500 cutscenes and lines of text to get through before route 2.
>>53860347People hated gen 5 when it came out; you're living in denial or are unaware of the community around that era.Somewhat related: B2W2 >>> B1W1. I really can't think of a single thing they do better than the sequels.>inb4 Muh story!!If you're playing Pokemon for the story, may I suggest you try...any other RPG? Itd an ok story in terms of Pokemon, but thats saying the turd with a cherry was best.
>>53860975my argument
>>53860347noit has every problem XY has except worse but people give it a pass because>OMG THEY REPLACED ALL THE OLD POKEMON WITH CARTOON NETWORK RESKINS!
>>53860988>Claims to have a counter argument>Posts inferior girlHuh?
>>53860997kekcope, tire-head
>>53860347>first game to take place out of poke-japan>no poke-japanese mons, only Unovan mons (at first)kind of made it feel like I playing pokemon for the first time. These games are the best since GSC for me, and have yet to be topped.
>>53860347Pokémon went south with Gen 4 after Gen 3 rose the bar too high. Gen 5 was mediocre as a Pokémon game, but great as a reboot to he series. Gen 6 was the true beginning of the end with the introduction of gimmick mechanics and the fact it was based in France, that is unless you take into consideration the heavy nigger couture in Gen 5, which is a given as America is globohomo. Gen 7 introduced blatant Pedophilia, Gen 8 introduced curry niggers, and Gen 9 solidified the end with its homoeroticism and tranny shit. tl;drPokémon stopped being Pokémon around Gen 4 because nigger worship
>>53861034If every person like you killed themselves this board would improve dramatically.
>>53861034>Gen 3 rose the bar>Gen 3>Known for removing more features than it addedbait
>>53861046Day night sucked and only friendless losers liked it.
>>53860988Just play a BW2 hack that replaces the player characters with those from the first set of games.
>>53861061But then it doesn't work as a sequel. BW just has better protagonists. I was challenged to find a single (1) thing that BW did better. And it's right there before you even start the game.
>>53861034>Gen 6 was the true beginning of the end with the introduction of gimmick mechanics How are megas any more of a gimmick mechanic than HAs or gems?
>>53861081Added abilities aren't a gimmick, and gems are just a mechanic. Are you going to call choice items gimmicks too?
>>53860995>it has every problem XY has except worseit doesn't have fairy type though
>>53861089Yeah, you’re right, Dragon type is unbalanced in Gen 5, one of the reasons it’s worse than XY.>>53861083> Added abilities aren't a gimmick,Ok then added form changes aren’t a gimmick>it’s just a mechanicOk then added form changes are just a mechanic
>>53861106Dragon was unbalanced since Gen 1.
>>53861083>are you going to call one of the first gimmicks added to the series a gimmick too????
>>53861116fairy is just the new dragon
>>53861106Megas being only once per battle is exactly what a gimmick entails. You're artificially capped to choosing just a single party member to mega evolve.
>>53861136>Megas being only once per battle is exactly what a gimmick entails. How do you retards come to these conclusions?
>>53861204It's not just a part of the established mechanics, megas are its own side thing with their own rules. Just like Z-Moves, Dynamax, Tera, and any future gimmick that will be arbitrarily limited to activating once per battle.
>>53861223>megas are its own side thing with their own rulesLike items?
>>53861243I can only use one item per battle?
>>53861246Yeah, pretty frequently.
>>53861250Really? So if one Pokemon makes use of an item, nothing else in my party can?
>>53861256You brought up z crystals and megas on your own. Why do you want me to repeat it?
>>53861257But those aren't items in the same way something like gems are. They have their own manual activation in a menu completely independent of anything else. And using a gem doesn't disable the rest of my party from using Leftovers.
>>53860445*BW1 and XY
>>53861261>But those aren't itemsI'm not even reading the rest of your cope.
>>53861136> Megas being only once per battleFocus Sash is only once per battle. I guess the Focus Sash is a gimmick now.
>>53861283No it isn't. My entire team can hold a Focus Sash.
>>53860662IRL bug collecting, actually.
>>53861302No it can’t.
>>53861681Of course it can.
>>53861684Then why does the game stop me from doing it?
>>53861692It doesn't.
>>53860347Half the pokemon have awful designs.Everything else about gen 5 is great.
>>53861701It does.
This board is full of underages and shitposters that dont know this board's creation was in response to how popular gen 5 was.
>>53862010Prove it.
>>53862024It was in response to how obnoxious unovatards are.
