Why isn't this a Galarian Cofagrigus?
>>46788045The same reason why it isn't rock type despite clearly being a rock.
>>46788045so you could use both in the same team, fag.
>>46788045Half transition of regional variants into different species with different names
>>46788047Ground/Ghost is ok-
>>46788045Then you'd be complaining that it doesn't look anything like Cofagrigus.
>>46788045Its pretty retarded that this was where they decided it needed a name change but Snowslash staying sandslash was fine
>>46788217Snowslash? Blizzlash? Icelash?
>>46788235Snowslash is nice
>>46788217Not really, A-Sandslash is a blue K-Sandslash. Runerigus is an entirely different base to Cofagrigus, can't even claim it's a burial shroud or cairn, why the fuck would it keep its name exactly the same?
>>46788329Cofagrigus is a ghost inhabiting a sarcophagus Runerigus is a ghost inhabiting a runestone. They are the same concept, just with a different item invovled, which leads me to think it should have just been Regional Cofagrigus. Only reason why they changed it is probably because of the name.
>>46788045Everyone in this thread is a retard. They clearly realized they fucked up with the name coFAGrigus which even gets blocked by the nickname filter, so they gave the new evolution a new name.
>>46788412Why would gamefreak give that much of a shit about the western localization?
Perrserker and Runerigus both differ enough from Persian and Cofagrigus.
>>46788235>>46788300snowslash is fine but snowshrew into blizzslash would've been cool (ba dum tish but no really)
>>46788640They give a shit when it impacts player experience (luminose save glitch) and after he's said it, he's right. Being blocked from trading due to the actual english name and a severe word filter's bullshit and likely why they gave it a new form/name.
>>46788389imagine the pokedex referring to it as a rigus ghost that will never leave what it is bound to.
>>46788724have they fixed cofagrigus yet? its a cool mon...
>>46788736I think they have an exception for that, but I also think they weren't fucked going through all that rigmarole for the Galarian variant.
>>46788640I mean the western player base is fucking massive. Of course GF cares about them, is that even a question? When something impacts such a massive market, GF will do a fix.
>>46788743ye its a legit good call
>>46788045why aren't the galarian birds their own fucking pkmn
>>46788813We don't know.
>>46788047>>46788185meanwhile sudowoodo is not grass type
>>46788813kinda crazy when you consider their names are still freezer, thunder, and fire
Because his "body" changed. Cofagrirus has 4 arms and no tail, while this has only 2 arms and a tail.Is just like slowpoke having different evolution based on the location bit have their shelders. The difference is that the previous evolution also change form.
>>46788047Stay mad forever please
>>46788217Her new Ice-type slashes the sand super-effectively, so her name still makes sense.
>>46788045because it isn't a fucking coffin
>>46789769it's also not clay, yet retardedly it's Ground-type instead of Rock
It’s implied an external cursed runestone completely absorbs g-yamask and it ‘evolves’ into Runerigus. While curses are related to sarcophagus, no def entry implies Cofagrigus was the result of a curse/is tied to a curse
>>46789796ah yes a slab of the earth unearthed with runes all over it, definitely nor ground type
>>46789862https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ingvar_runestones
>>46788185this
Should have been named runigrigus to carry on the legacy
>>46788412They didn't fuck up the name. They fucked up by HAVING a filter.
>>46789337based
>>46789337His entire point is that he only poses as a tree. Of course he's not grass type.
>>46788813>>46789281>>46789360According to tue website, it's because people saw tuem from a distance and saw things freeze/burn and heard thunder. Nobody got close enough to realize that they weren't the Kanto birds until long after the names became commonly used.
>>46788045because it's not the same physiology as Cofagrigus at all
>>46789876>t. Bulbapedo
>>46791384are they legit different monsters and not just some mutation/subspecies?
>>46791363>His
>>46788723Not at all
>>46788723blizzslash sounds like a sonic oc
In Japan their names are a lot closer:Cofagrigus = Deathkarn (coffin of death)Runerigus = Deathbarn (slab of death)
>>46791384>>46791584I never bought the "they're actually entirely different pokemon" theory since they still share a lot of moves and have nearly identical stats (plus their shinies being based on the originals)I always figured they changed from eating the fruit of the dyna tree which the game makes a big point of them annually travelling to the tree to do, possibly hinting at some eventual gimmick where you can just switch pokemon to and from their regional forms at will
>>46791684Fair enough, nevermind. I kinda like Snowshrew. Slushshrew? Whatever, they're fine.>>46791722I'm not sure if I'd want that unless it was an availability thing like with those new EV candies, but even then, it's kinda weird. But I like your interpretation about how they mutated cause of fruit.
>>46788045You'd probably complain that the name doesn't make sense because it's not a Sarcophagus.
>>46791886Persian is a SiameseBeedril is a waspCharmeleon is not a chameleonetc.
>>46789697>projecting
>>46788047clay isn't rock you absolute mong
>>46791944You've been reposting the same brainless complaint for the past year and a half, so yes I'm going to take a gander and say "you mad as fuck, bro".
>>46792054https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runestone
>>46792156But the Runestone in this case is made out of clay
>>46792514lies
>>46792634Arrest yourself
>>46791908Beedrill's a hornet though.
