You really do not have to spend any money if you are patient. Especially now that they give you energy recharges for clearing any set of stages for the first time. But you should just be patient and hold onto those until you have way more energy. Just play a bit a day for some months and you will have so much free energy you will never use it.

After you finish Empire of Cats you will unlock another stage in that area called Into the Future and also unlock another thing on the main screen called Stories of Legend. If you want to know what you will roll with rare tickets (they are not actually rare at all) instead of relying on RNG then read this carefully.

I used to feel the same way. I enjoy a good gamble but the more cats you have the more likely you are to get a dupe, and getting new cats without tracking eventually becomes almost impossible without paying hundreds of dollars. Collecting new units is a large part of what makes the game fun, so tracking just makes sense.

every normal ticket you roll you still have a chance of getting an upgrade for them, but because they're already maxed the game will ask if you want to convert the upgrade into 1/5 a ticket

I had my cat cannon attack at 1 for a really long time. I ended up maxing it anyway because the game won't let you upgrade your base through ototo past a certain point unless you do that. Without that, you'll have to bring cannon power up combos to one-shot assassin bears on some sol stages and you'll have a harder time with strategies that rely on holy blast.
