Arguably the previous game by mihoyo is an improvement, who knows maybe twitterfags just get off to the femboys
>>287421Even my neighbor's dog plays that fucking kusoge
post fastest event time unless you a pussy.
>>287421It looks kinda like TLOZ BOTW, which was huge, but whit animu waifus.I just realized waifu became a comon term quite a while ago... Fuck.
marketing
>>288235Basically. Figures out advertising everywhere about great graphics and not being your typical Gacha goes a long way.
When will everyone stop underestimating the 1.4 billion Chinese population. When China finally overtakes the States as the biggest world power?
>>287421It has actual gameplay.Really thats it, its bog standard so far as the gacha side of it is.
Because it's actually fun unlike most gacha kusoges
>>287421already uninstalledfking gacha man, always crap characters i dont want
>>288314insect fingers typed this post.
>>287647I eat your babies, bitch.
It’s an isekai with anime style that’s not a basic auto play gacha.
>>300114>isekai
>>287421Honestly I don't know. I tried it for a bit on PC but I just couldn't get into it. Even as an anime lover which it is clear this game tries to pander to I hated it. The characters, the gameplay the story everything. If they made a game like this for maybe Dragonball or One Piece then I could really get into it. The story and characters weren't interesting enough for me to keep playing. Then that leaves the gameplay which is pretty much an open world single player game that you have to potentially spend hundreds of dollars on. Why are people spending thousands of dollars on this? The gameplay isn't that mind blowing. You just kill shit to get stronger to be able to kill more slightly more powerful shit.
>>288314The Chinese army is a paper tiger. The sheer number of head they count is larger than US and EU but a bunch of completely untrained millitia that would sell their mother for a double rice ration isn't worth much when 70% them desert the moment an actual war breaks out and the remaining 30% get fucking bombed because the DoD fucking salivates at the idea of taking off the kid gloves we've been wearing in the middle east.
Actual popularity? Pretty sure it's more like a lot of Chinese social media bots.
>>287421Don;t know about others but I adore the soundtrack.
>>287421is BOTW for non-nintendo devices.
>>287421It's very clear that there're market for anime aesthetic open world game, it was satisfied by BOTW at first, but since it's nintendo exclusive and the general masses is too stupid to emulate it, some are left out. Came genshin impact, a free to play gacha with similar gameplay to BOTW, it's also small to boot (around ~15gb on pc) and you can also play it on your phone. So people got hooked to it. Personally, there's nothing mind blowing about the game, but since there're no other similar alternatives that is also free and small, people flock to it.
I am still not very familiar with the history of gacha games. As an outsider, my first impression was that GI is the first gacha (kancolle-like? is that an established term?) that is a real game, but apparently there was also honkai impact before it, though I have not played that game so far (which seems to be part of the series, as its numeral suggests). Were there any other "real" games with a full gacha system (so not lootboxes) before it? Also, another achievement of GI in my eyes seems to be its 3D anime graphics that do not actually suck (like in all modern falcom games for example). Was this also new (obviously disregarding stuff like guilty gear)?
>>302630>(kancolle-like? is that an established term?)Are you a fucking moron? KanColle wasn't a gacha.
>>301053Say what you want about the game but it's genuinely popular in its largest markets.
>>287421>daily dopamine for the masses>BOTW clone>open world>fantasy>anime styled>can be played on literally every mobile deviceI mean...
>>302638I realised after I posting I should not have expressed it that way. I know what the term gacha refers to, but what I was referring to was certain set of game principles, namely: short mission-based gameplay, a continuous games as a service model, grinding upon grinding upon grinding, a pokemon-esque collection element, a "stamina" system limiting effective playtime, management of multiple resources, daily chores and so forth (which all sounds terrible if you write it down like that). I have only cursorily glanced over kancolle videos, but my impression was that it first introduced most of this package, even if some elements obviously were lifted from previous games (e. g. dailies from MMORPGs and resource management from earlier browser games). gacha is then, unterstood broadly, in my view, not a genre, but a design philosophy, in the same way "arcade" is one and "rolling" and coin-operated machines are respectively just the financialisation schemes that gave rise to these philosophies. to illustrate this point: if an arcade game is faithfully ported to a home console, it is no longer dependent on coins, but it still remains a game of the arcade-style. and if someone were to take a regular gacha game and simply removed rolls, but kept everything else as is (which wouldnt be impossible since you can typically unlock characters and equpment et al in other ways), well, what would you have then? the game would still largely be the same mechanically and different enough from all other game types. gacha might be a contradictory term to use for this, but what else would you call it? mobage wouldnt be accurate. (incidentally, I can imagine something like this happening over the years as a final money-making scheme for dying gachas)
>>303173tl;dr
Why does it run so terribly on PC? It's "locked" at 60fps but it still drops, while having very low CPU and GPU usage. Is it just awfully optimized? The game is also boring as fuck.
>>302475The free part baffles me, poor people can just pirate good games instead.
>>303307>Is it just awfully optimized? What did you expect of a shitty port of a phone game.
>>303307Runs fine on my machine besides the FPS lock.
>>287421cause it's fun?mihoyo isn't a total scumbag company.good graphics, good gameplay, nice community, and the depth of team building is really fun while also being very free to play friendly.
