Both Selene and Lorraine are really good dps who can get you through most of the story and through dragon's and Dark Legion. Lorraine is the better of the two imo since she has more uses late game where as Selene is basically an eclipse only dps. It also depends on if you plan on going with a physical team or a magical team.

This is why pretty much everyone says to pick from a certain few dps if you are starting out because those dps are generalists who can do pretty much everything in the game. And yes unless you are a super whale or play for a long ass time you are pretty much locked into phys or magic. Story mode can be full cleared with the starting team you are given. Clause as a tank is good enough to carry you for a long as time, and you get Ffrey for free once you complete chapter 9 who is the best priest in the game. The community has kind of dropped tier lists in general since a lot of chars are core for certain content in the game but dog shit at other parts.

I was thinking Evan at first, but he seems to be a lesser option since I have 5* F.Frey and Shea. Starring it is good but you should focus on your main dps first since it takes 40 reports to evolve it.

If you got neither of these then your backline will most likely die first from the AOE.
