I think there are some cheese/normal strategies for that stage that don't require a high holy blast level, but unless you have really good timing or hypermaxed units you should be prepared to retry the stage a bunch of times. in general, the holy blast cannon is one of the most useful in the game because it trivializes a lot of zombie stages, so you definitely should get it at some point.

No traitless sucks, windup time can make it miss and range below 500 is not ideal, but still it isn't as situational as Frosty Kai.
