How about a Java/J2ME Thread?
Any games you remember playing a lot?
>>
Gang stars las vegas.
>>
For as much as people shit about Gameloft, their mobile games were a blast. I swear, between the Breakout clones, the Mario kart racers and some of the old-Nokia games I must have spent dozens of hours on school breaks
>>
>>151442
Their Splinter Cell games were fun as hell, Block Breaker Deluxe. the "Nights" games and Asphalt 3 were also really enjoyable.
>>
>>150568
Isn't having an Nokia mobile is better for experience?
I mean I have e66 s60v3 and I play most n-gage games on it after my Nokia 6120c dead last 2 months
>>
There was this spy neopunk game, action side scrosller. Only thing i remenber about the plot was that at the end you found out the bad guy organization was building some big dick mechas and the big bad guy offed himself after you found him.

Anyone know what the hell im talking about?
>>
>>150568
Heroes lore, heroes lore zero, Gundam ultimate knight and that 3d devil may cry are the best
>>
>>154641
I think its cyberpunk arasakas plot
>>
>>155249
Oh shit you are right!
Wait wtf its cyberpunk related?
Either way, that game blew me away back then because it was so fucking neat considering the platform...

Is there a catalog/directory of old phone games? I used to exploit the phone service provider system to get infinite internet data and download a ton of weird games and turbo compresed porn, once i stumbled on shitty nip 3d porn site trough fucking ads, good fucking times.

Lego bionicle heroes

Pretty fun game for what it was. The final boss is just a extra long worn, which is a basic enemy lol.
The sunset at the end was a great if a bit of a fucked-up-perspective touch

You need to provide your own .jar files.

There's plenty like mobiles24 and some others. Google the game name + 240x320 jar and you will find them. Emulate with kemulator on windows or j2me loader on Android. They run everything EXCEPT the 3d devil may cry because it uses tons of custom code

Also, the two Orcs & Elves and Doom RPG. Good shit.

These ubisoft platformers were very good. They all had the same engine but you knew it would play great. Try assassins creed 3 for some cool Java wizardry

I think there was a 3d platformer with a black guy that jumped on lava pits and collected gems

I just discovered that there's a FOURTH secret ending if you beat the final boss when he invades the first boss battle. The characters start complaining about about the 4th wall and everything goes wack. I'm literally finishing my run to see how they translated it

Anyone remenber a SWAT game? I think it was side scroller whit cool gadgets, like the microfiber cam that you could sneak trough keyholes before going in blasting thugs

There was also a 2d unreal tournament clone, it had DM, CTF and also hover bikes, god i miss that game.
It looked shitty beyond belief, but it was plenty fun.

I had some great times playing through final fantasy 3 on a nes emulator in class, pokemon on a gbc emulator with classmates (link battles through bluetooth were hilariously broken and desynced in the weirdest ways).
Also doom RPG was THE shit, the good shit.
I never really had anything else, even though sideloading was a thing
>>
I remember this swede game about monsters hiding in shadows. Fun stuff, beaten it.

Otherwise most fun i had was this jar encapsulation of a bunch of NES games ran on Nesticle ir something. I also tried to make my own encapped emu game jars, but none of them worked on my Motorola non-android and Nokia Xpress Music.

What how do I play that rayman game on my phone?
>>
>>181599
Download a suspicious java archive your found by searching https://www.google.com/search?q=rayman+3+j2me+jar
Install J2ME Loader (or a worse J2ME emulator) through your phone's package manager
Run your J2ME emulator and tell it where you saved the java archive file

That game is from 2003
It was was meant to be played on old feature not on smart phones
>>
>>181612
Technically any phone that can install programs like JAR files are categorised as "smartphones". Don't be retarded & born yesterday.
>>
>>181682
Smartphone was a marketing term to rebrand PDAs, around the time phones were commonly added to them.
These games are played on a telephone keypad. Their platform was cell phones that grew towards computers (feature phones) not handheld computers that grew towards phones (smartphones).

I remember playing it on a motorola, it was a about a skater that got his skate stolen by someone, in the end you have to go through a quest and some minigames around the city just to find who did it. It had multiple endings depending of your final answer.

And the fact that Dante has all weapons inside him, then the animations only stretch it out as needed. This is his t-pose model, and its a shame no emulator can run this game: you WILL need an actual sony ericsson, or a developer console FROM sony ericsson software

Some 3d java games were pretty impressive, like that one resident evil game or some racing games.

.kkrieger is 95 KiB because external calls to DirectX do all the work.
Devil May Cry 3D is in a similar boat. It's small because M3G is large.
>>
>>150568
I remember playing a java game which was about a cute monster collecting fruit and using some kind of balls to defeat enemies.
I don't exactly remember it's name but I had a lot of fun with it.
>>
Do you remember a game where you were a ninja climbing a tower???.
It was a vertical scroller, where you needed to keep going up using platforms from one side to the other because (I don't remember exactly if) a dragon or something like that was chasing you from the bottom of the screen.

Java/J2ME games have their own little appeal presuming the controls aren't too bulky. they're like weird little nes games with better graphics.
>>
>>205015
my fav games were actually ports/remakes of nes games, like Ghosts n Goblins, Popeye, Final Fantasy I, Bionic Commando, Bubble Bobble and the like.
Oh and that port of Super Street Fighter II was surprisingly good, specially compared to Gameloft's Street Fighter Alpha port.

I remember playing this game on a Sony Ericsson phone, story is quite good with some edgy shit. I also remember a tactical RPG game called 'Revival' where you start in barbaric ages, then as you improve your technology, you'll eventually be able to build robotic forces and teleportation devices. >only two mentions of Doom RPG
Unacceptable.

Carmack wrote the engine (over a weekend, if I recall correctly. He said he decided to finally check out gaming on cell phones and found them incredibly lame so decided to make something himself) and it was clearly inspired by the type of predominantly Western classic first person dungeon crawler PC RPGs that Carmack had played back in the day. He said he decided to go with the style he did as a way to design within the limitations of the platform instead of making a shitty half assed platformer that plays like shit or whatever.

There were 5 using the engine. Doom RPG, Doom II RPG, Wolfenstein RPG and Orcs & Elves 1 and 2, an original traditional fantasy IP made for the engine.

You can find all the iD RPG games and an emulator to play them here. I run them on my Android phone with J2ME and it works great. There's an onscreen keypad for the buttons. If you want to play on PC just use the Windows version of J2ME Loader.

All the iD RPG games are in this archive:
https://mega.nz/#!Y7AjEawA!Ta2RQuOC235v0wQoLtVR7HJoN7bsiawkujSlq8A1Da4

Also, Doom II RPG had an exclusive black and white comic book tie-in. You can read it here:
https://imgur.com/a/slxE9or

Found this pic using Wayback Machine on the old official website for DOOM RPG.
