The final tour with new content, the Anniversary Tour, starts tonight. Starting with the Battle Tour, all content in the game will be recycled from previous tours. In addition to discussing the game, here are some other things to note:

>What does the sudden end of new content mean for the next console Mario Kart?
>Will the game be left on auto-pilot like Super Mario Run or have an eventual EOS like Dr. Mario World and Dragalia Lost?
>What does this mean for the Booster Course Pass in 8 Deluxe?

I started during the 3rd anni and I’ve managed to reach 1 mil points for the first time the day before the 4th anni, feels nice
Poor Paratroopa, you’d think he’d be one of the easiest and most obvious characters to make and he was in a previous Mario Kart game, but he just never happened for some reason

Celebrating the 1 year anniversary of the bottomless Pipe from Hell.
I still remember spending +450 rubies and still not getting him, then finally buying him when he appeared at the shop but never actually getting to use him, not even once. my biggest mistake ever in this game.
What would they even give Paratroopa? Also triple greens?
I got King Mario on my third 10 pull. But he had an awful buff cycle, with a lot of overlap with my other top drivers.
Also pulled Thai Daisy in that tour (Peach/Daisy pipe), and found her much more useful than King Mario.

so he has two skills if I understand correctly, a passive coin vacuum and fire flower, I wonder if you can use it for boombox, it wouldn't give you as many actions because it wouldn't destroy objects like boomerang frenzy does, but it should still be pretty decent
Loop is basically confirmed to have new track selections since Berlin 3T, Sydney 3T and London 3RT do not appear in this tour and have not appeared at all in any tours since last year’s Battle Tour
Also, Koopa was wrong about the 1 variants of the cities being in this tour, like I originally thought it’s LA 2 + the other 13 3rd variants with all the returning ones missing their R/Ts, as well as Berlin 3T, New York 3R, Paris 3R and Sydney 3T additionally being left out to fit everything else in

Have the same issue. There is no overlap, so it's a heavy investment if you want a good kart for both.

Interesting detail: Season ID 138 was added this tour, this and season 128 are the only upcoming seasons in the files, wonder if this means Battle and Halloween Tours etc. reuse season IDs while these two tours will be different somehow
Season 128 should be the tour that falls on Mar10 day next year and 138 corresponds to the timeframe the Sunshine Tour happened this year
Seems that way, plus there was that weird Bowser's Castle that only got N and R variants.

The grinding will be rough especially since new tracks give exp at a slower rate and there are 14 of them
128 might adjust its items in relation to King Mario's return in this tour. Of course, if this is the case then that doesn't bode well for other tours on the upcoming loop. On the other hand, there IS speculation that the Mario vs. Luigi Tour was planned for March at some point before it was delayed and split off from DS Mario Circuit's debut and Mar10 Day. Not impossible that they could use this spot on some other reused tour theme that could fill in any gaps of the current plan.

The Sunshine Tour gap is very intriguing on the other hand. If you want to be more pessimistic, this tour is notably the one following the Pipe Tour, which introduced the game's last original non-city track. I'd be surprised if the game doesn't at least have one full loop in it, yet at the same time if there WAS an early EoS or one the following year this would be a possible spot outside anniversary. Still, don't take this to heart. Tour ID numbers haven't been perfect, so it could be a variety of factors.

the more I'm seeing about the vacuum, the more I'm convinced he's only slightly above trash. that rome 3 track was made for him but it wasn't that good of a choice using him, seems like even in that first section, right after gliding, you can already miss coins if you don't land right in the center. for the coin rings you also need to be at the very center, and maybe I didn't look correctly but seems like the coins out of a coinbox only start to get sucked in after they land on the floor not as they are coming out of the box, which kills a lot of actions. overall seems like you have to spend a lot of time to get the right lobby and practice a lot to get a similar boombox+ run
Nintendo took down the video lmao, the point is that Rome 3 seems to be tailor-made for Gold Mario’s vacuum and the range isn’t all that big

using the updated DKR scoresheet for rome 3, I compared how would gold mario do vs my gold chuck and gladiator if they had the same level

it estimates 220 actions and a total of 55,435 points

38 absolutely won't since it likely correlates to the cut Common tier driver they never released. 44 could be something viable like Captain Toad or Dr. Mario, but I'm going to guess they won't just drop some random final cup anytime after this tour.
Obviously some bias there, but that actually seems pretty good. Not enough to break the game, but still can be potent under the right circumstances.
They should have given out Peach Vacation for free for the anni since they already did so back in the Ocean Tour but I wasn’t playing yet at that time and I don’t have her
Hopefully the increased access to cap tickets in ranked rewards is a sign that resources will gradually get easier to get as the End of game approaches.

I'm hoping that a few weeks before EOS, they give all remaining players access to every item (D/K/G) in the inventory, just so you can play the ones that you never got.

I can't believe it, but I could definitely see a ton of Rubies to at least buy favorites.

I genuinely think that having every track for Time Trials and online races would be a game changer, but even beyond what you said I'm skeptical just off the fact there's no major update in sight.

I'm happy, I get to level up shit slowly now, get tickets at the daily selects and the competition it's not as bad for me as it would seem in tier 99, level 9 would completely wreck me because a lot of players would dump their tickets into the recent meta items and we would have several weeks of adjustment until things could calm down

I don't know why I kept grinding exp even after reaching level 400 several tours ago, I'm a masochist most likely but I finally finished, I've farmed every single track in the game and I don't have to do it ever again, I'm free finally after three years of doing it, I still remember starting in 2020 during the funky kong tour. god, what a complete waste of my life

I wonder if they ever planned 4th routes for other cities? I believe they didn't offer any new content as such just using the other 3 routes with a new path.
The 2 IDs between Paris and Rome that’s been there since launch suggests that Paris 4 was planned pre-launch but scrapped before ever seeing the light of day and they never bothered to remove the IDs for it. Since the other 2 earliest cities (London and Sydney) have all 12 variants with the same timestamp of August 28 2018 and no evidence that London and Sydney 4 were ever planned exists, 4th variants were probably abolished by that date
This image doesn’t show that 1 unused ID exists for both BC4 T and RT, and there used to be IDs for RRM RT but they were removed, but who knows if those were ever planned in the first place
The absence of RRM r/t is puzzling given the track was there at launch as far as I recall.
Prior to the 2021 Space Tour there was a clear gap of 3 IDs within RRM’s IDs that seemed to be for the _main IDs of RRM RT which is proof it may have existed at some point
I wonder why they abandoned it. Not the only weird decision they made but it can't have been too much extra work to just throw it in.

I started in late 2021 (Space Tour) and am already at level 310.
What I don’t get is why BC4 T and RT got abandoned as well, they went to all the effort of making BC4 a proper remake only to leave out variants, and it’s not like the regular and R variants of BC4 are all that high scoring either
I was grinding Madrid 3N for ranked and managed to fully drain its exp without getting a single race without badged bots, pain, best I could do was gb frenzy + coin frenzy
I did start using an autoclicker for the tokens months ago, I couldn't do it normally anymore but for exp grinding, manually on 200cc is still the fastest and most efficient way of doing it

W1 status: 3rd place. Bought the challenges and spent a ton of kart tickets on Swift Talon and the new Black B Dasher Mk. 2.
Athens Dash 3: Gold Mii (Lv6/3c) / Swift Talon (Lv6/2c) / Secret Scroll (Lv6/2c). I think this is a triple frenzy - coin / coinbox / coin. I might still take the driver and/or glider up to Lv7.
NY Minute 3T: Gold Wiggler (Lv6/2c) / Armored Rider (Lv6/2c) / Starchute (Lv7/2c). I haven't fully grinded this yet. Feels like a short track, but easiest of the three ranked tracks to hold combo.
Madrid Drive 3: Thai Daisy (Lv6/2c) / Black Mk2 (Lv6/2c) / Fire Flower (Lv7/2c). Lucky run - bobomb / coinbox / coin.
Week 2: Drivers are (1) Mario Tuxedo or Rosa Volendam [both Lv6] (2) Kamek [Lv7] (3) DK Gladiator [Lv6]. Fully covered for karts and gliders to at least Lv6 (3 at Lv7), so I can go all out for this week. I don't plan to use Gold Mario right away for Rome 3.

It only took me a half hour to clear Madrid 3 (pic), but that was after I spent 1 hr 30 min clearing Athens 3, which was a pain in the ass.
It's actually a good time to start playing.
Since the meta is frozen (except maybe for finishing the buffs on newer items), it will be easier to spend level tickets to maximize track coverage with minimum overlap without buying a bunch of extra crap for fear of missing out.
Just don't spend a lot of money, except maybe for Gold Pass ($5/mo).
are triple mushroom and dash ring characters good? Because toadette was the first character I got so I stuck with her until reaching cap and now I'm working on halloween rosalina.

No, those are not "plus" skills, but it doesn't hurt to have them as a new player.
Rosa Halloween was also one of my first high end drivers, and is still a personal favorite (pic). Now at Lv6/2c, and ready for Halloween soon.
The high value "plus" skills are coinbox, boomerang, and giant banana. Focus on getting those drivers (especially coinboxers) and taking them to Lv3 as needed to get track coverage.
Alright then giant bananas and coin boxes it is then, I already got king bob-omb gold I think from the tier ranking thing so that's probably good but what makes the boomerang good? Seem like glorified spinning shells to me.
Definitely bizarre that they broke convention for just this one track. Why not scatter a few ramps about?
Gold Mii should be lv7 4c, you can get beyond 50k points with it. Mine is maxed out and got me 60k on that track.

Don't forget lucky 7. The boomerang is good but hardest to use. The idea is to use them on key moments during the race to suck up an opponent's coins from one of their coinboxes when they use one. Otherwise it's an above average item.
Bringing up the timestamps again, it feels like leaving out BC4 T and RT was intentional since SNES BC3’s variants all have the exact same date and time as BC4’s two variants and more tracks were finished after this time; so running out of time to make the BC4 variants isn’t an explanation since SNES BC3 does have all variants

game was always destined to die when the Booster Course Pass was done.
I mentioned this in an older thread, that I think they just want to move on to a new project so even if tour was still making a lot of money, it was always meant to not last very long. now that we know switch 2 is coming, it should be almost confirmed that they are finally working on the mk8 sequel for this new console as well and the reason why tour is getting discontinued is because that new game will very likely integrate elements from tour and they simply don't want it to compete with a mobile game. my guess is adding actions and scores to races as another game mode

People have been theorizing that Kinopio-kun, who was shown in several early promos for Tour seemingly with an in-game model, was ID 53 or 81 (since he’d need an ID to be present in the game at all)

Status update: 1st place. Went all in. No nervous Tuesday night.
Athens Dash 3: Took Gold Mii up to Lv7/3c and Secret Scroll to Lv7/3c. Got an all time personal record 53k. 175 actions nonstop: coinbox / coin / coinbox
NY Minute 3T: Cleared the bots and got my triple frenzy (banana / coin / coinbox), but not much improvement. A waste of time; did almost as well with Piranha Plant Mii (Lv5/2c). Not impressed with Gold Wiggler so far.
Madrid 3: no change
I'd guess that three of the Toad spots were black, white, and orange to match with the other super recolors. Fourth could have been brown to patch the Mii racing suits, especially if they weren't initially planned to come over. Outside that, could have also just been Blue/Yellow/Green/Purple Toad since those are the other colors that appear commonly across media.

I'd guess that 53 was an unique driver due to the nearby cup ID and just the mere fact it was a common. Main guess is Paratroopa, but it could have been something like Luma or another baby as well. That said, I actually have one more theory: it could have been Red Koopa Troopa. While usually these drivers would be Supers, it is possible they were thinking of adding an extra Common pull before realizing that was pointless.

81 was likely a fairly generic alt, although it does add to the mystery why they never got released. I've seen some suggest that King Boo could have been planned to get a third variant at some point due to a render date gap, so who knows what happened. Maybe there was going to be a proper "King Boo (Halloween)" before they found it redundant with KBLM and Gold Boo.

The two cut Miis were likely related to unique tracks due to their position against similar Mii Costumes. One could have been a cut track since we did have two unused codenames along with that one slot in 8 Deluxe. Other could be a track that either didn't have an alt assigned initially or just felt redundant. Other two Miis are harder to guess, although it is curious how we never got Capsule or Super Leaf Miis.
Now that all of Rome and Madrid are released, which one do you think is harder and more distinctive? That one is going to be the Spiny Cup city and I think it’s Madrid

datamining, koopav confirmed we're getting the same tracks so it's also safe to assumed they will have exactly the same arrangement, also he mentioned two important dates in the future that are set to be different, march 6 2024 and july 24 2024 so he made his final prediction...
Mind you, the main reason he said those two tours will be different are the season IDs, past season 116 (current tour) the only remaining ones are for 128 and 138 which correspond to the tours on those two dates, why these two season IDs are going to be unique is still anyone’s guess

Got a lucky +5k run on NY Minute 3T after switching karts to the Red Offroader. Same banana / coin / coinbox, but the coinbox was earlier and not cut at the finish line.

boomerang is still better but you would have to go for boombox to get that many actions, plus the coin rings are at the final section of that track, which means you will need to stall to not only get boombox but another boomerang frenzy there, doing that could take way more time than just using gold mario to suck up coins from a good lobby of coinbox drivers so he could be more friendly to use
sucks that the vacuum range doesn't upgrade as you level up gold mario

Well, now that Ranked essentially doesn't matter anymore and the game is coming to a standstill, gonna need a new constantly updated kart racer to play.

Who else is moving over to Disney Speedstorm? Honestly, scary good timing on their part making that game F2P just as Mario Kart Tour stops adding new content.

the game is not going away just yet, I'm gonna keep playing normally until the EoS next year and then I'm taking a break from racing games and mobile stuff in general until the switch 2 comes out with the next mario kart game. I never had the first switch, ps4 or xbox one so it would be my first brand new console in a long time so I will focus entirely on those games, especially if it's coming out with switch 1 retrocompatibility because I've also never played any of the zelda games or the other mario games, so I guess I will be done with /vmg/ after this game shuts down
