It's going to be the 1.18 update, not 1.19.
>OG is not being reset but getting a new gen tele
Pic related, you'll only get new map generation. You can't get the story stuff on the OG world.
>>

Your animals and crops also keep growing while you are not online. That easily compensates for food rot. Only the very early game is made more difficult by playing online.

New from Tyrone
>I'm completely redoing the ocean system again
>Reason being, the previous system does not lend itself well to ensuring land at the players spawn point as well as for the main story event. The new system also opens the door for potential continent specific game content in the future. Also allows for more clearly defined continents. Also should allow for a "island hopping" type experience by choosing a small-ish landcover rate and a small landcover scale

Imagine being this new. What a grand and intoxicating innocence. Saraty probably wants to add another 38 wolf pelt textures or maybe a kumquat tree with a 5 degree temperature threshold (growable only within a 10 chunk band between temperate and tropical!). You may have your opinions on what the game priorities should be but you are incapable of understanding how these people prioritize development. It defies any reasonable expectation.

Food doesn't last all that long as years can go by IG if you take a break for a few weeks. This is why I have been making strategic alcohol stashes around the map. If you happen across one and are thirsty don't hesitate to drink up.
Also If you store salted meat up north it can last 8 years or so which is pretty good.

I've done a bit of testing and i think 30% landcover with 100% landcover scale is ideal. It produces a mix of large continents and small islands. With these settings, the Avererage distance to the next landmass is also about the same as the average landmass width, which makes navigation intuitive.

Yeah, they are super hard to see in tall grass. So are best for gravel plains and the like. But I think it's neat and immersive.
It's easy enough just making a block. I did it just to test out the modding. There's a built in model editor which is pretty easy to use. Then you basically just export it and look for the tags your block needs and make a recipe.

The modding discord is very helpful, plus just reading other blocks isn't too bad.
If you're making something like this. You can import the material and have it become the correct type of rock from the recipe on its own.

Modding is easier here than minecraft. If you wanna ask anyone, ask xeth. Me and bek are still working on gunmod over a year later lol.
At 27 guns, 57 melee, 10 throwing weapons, and 4 siege weapons. I keep getting autistic and adding more. We're working on 4 bows. Ideally we'd have 3 shield models, 4-5 more siege weapons, some munition storage, special weapons, and backpacks and shit.

you can do what the 2nd mald server did and turn off claims but then it's full anarchy and it takes one offline shitter to ruin it for everyone. Cooperation and roads would end. Nomap in a new worldgen would suck anyways with all the ocean.

Already done. It just needs animating because it looks wonky as fuck right now and idk how I want the animation done.
The gunpowder 'evolution' of guns is - firelance > bronze cannons (3 variants) > handcannon (the only iron age gun) > matchlock guns (steel age) > wheelock/flintlock guns (wind power and class exclusive guns/weapons)
The other early weapons so far are ceramic grenades, siege bombs, blowguns, tomohawks, inuit harpoon, boomerang, then some pacific islander, south american native, north american native, zulu, and abbo weapons.

Here is the bronze cannon. Not fully accurate.
When we did global weapons the tordar is for india, tamagashima is for japan, and jezail is for the middle east. Most guns are euro though. Ukraine gets a tartar bow, natives get their own bow, and japan gets a yumi but the bows are still wip.

could you add double size? ie 1.5 or 2 blocks tall. They could probably use a lot of stones to balance stuff out. Generally not even for no map but just as aesthetic stuff it looks great
>>
>>859217
Right now it has basically every major weapon for the sengoku period, the 30 years war, war of the roses, and 30 years war. I'm going to work a lot harder on modding in may and june since I get to be between jobs this summer. I think only the bows and hussar lance are missing atm. After bows it's siege weapons and storage > rare weapons/end game/fantasy > armor > I have no more excuses to keep working on it.
I wouldn't hype for gunmod yet because it's been over a year wip but beenade launcher is the only for sure end game/meme gun. A steampunk revolver, templockjezzail (like warplock jezzails from warhammer), and a drifter/scrap themed shotgun are what I think would be fun for end game weapons you get in duengons as the OP ones. Maybe some explosive gun but the wallgun already is a gun that breaks blocks.

Also if anyone wants to know exclusives for classes, wheelock mechanisms are for clockmakers, hunters get rifiled guns and the fowling gun, malefactors get shit like the beenade launcher, steel grenade, and leather cannon , blackguard get heavy two handed weapons like odachi, zweihander, or two handed polynesian clubs, in the far future tailors get special armor, idk what to give commoners. Maybe just the arming sword and bayonets and a rapier and yari variant.

Besides being a kinda cheap one shot armored player weapon, the handcannon won't be that good. It only fires one normal sized bullet and is pretty inaccurate and durability is low. The balance of the mod is mostly focused around pike/shot tactics. You can't have multiple ready to fire guns in your inventory and it resets the loading if you put it away so you need a player in a battle to focus on using the gun. Depending on the gun, it's 1-2 shots for unarmored, 1-3 shots for armored opponents. Armor works with guns the same as bows, making them very inaccurate so any gunner who wants to hit something won't really wear armor. Because of load times and lack of armor, gunners are weak to one handed, spam attack weapons (all weapon damage is increased with the mod). So if you miss and don't have a guard, a gunner can get rushed with a sabre. One handed weapons are weak to two handed weapons which attack fast enough to sort of keep someone at a distance from a gunner but if they miss a sword could still rush close. They don't 1 shot but still penetrate armor and deal more damage than 1 handed.
So pvp for the mod is mostly balanced to a steel age tercio with some random weapons doing various niches like explosives being good vs walls/campers or the native throwing and bows being like spammy ranged for hit/run at a distance.
>>
>>859180
This sounds insanely good, is the mod already released as in beta or will you release it once finished? This game is definitely lacking factions servers right now
>>
>>859298
We have been working on it for a year now. I will release when it is more functional (probably after we finish the bows and a few more melee)
I have a alpha version but wanna have it more release ready so I do not break anything. Especially as I redo some sounds and animations. Hopefully with my time off I can get put it on the server in like 4-5 months? I will release the beta before we finish armor, cannons, storage, and hunting. Those will be post release. But I put a lot of time to balance this so no weapon is useless out of the 98.
>>
>>859298
Also a warning is it is very pvp centric. It is op and makes pve kind of a joke. Hopefully vm can stay kinda peaceful though. The balance for weapons is that the crafting for most stuff is VERY expensive. Arming a group of 10 and actually having the gearsets to wage war will cost more than in vanilla, arming 10 people with steel plate. I can post the material cost for example if you want. But if you want to gear up for pvp it can take a day of grinding to last probably 20 minutes in battle. So if a player is being a major shitter, one death would put them back enough to prevent further shitting.

Actually I would say that china is very under-represented for this era. A full wood spear would definitely complete natives. The ottomans get two swords, two axes, a mace, and one gun. Indians get a mace, a gun, and a sword. There is not chinese stuff since some of the jap and indian stuff looks the same as Chinese except maybe the weird spears and a quarterstaff would be missing. Zulus just get their spear and shield since subsahara was mostly native stuff unless a atlatl would be cool.

Honestly jusy “mod” json
You can snag another person’s armor mod, edit the texture or edit one from game files, make a json for the recipe, item id in survival, shape, texture, and then edit some values and shit. Armor takes longer to texture and model than weapons.

It's great that you guys have a lot of weapons
But are you guys doing something for the combat system?
>>
>>859427
>>859285
It's all json so not like the xeth mod that added blocking before shields. In short, it lowers time to kill in all combat to avoid the armor slog and increases armor pen of stuff.
In long, some weapons are backpack slot only, some weapons stop your player from moving when you attack, guns with different load times, ranges, damage, projectiles, ranges, explosions, etc. It's still around the ranged/spear/sword dynamic of vintage story, just alters it so combat costs more and once you actually fight it isn't a slog.
>>
>>859449
If I was actually good at coding, I would make add a rock paper scissors of blunt, stab, slash and relate it to armor but my brain is too small. Gotta beg tyron for meaningful changes like that

>Have we not learned?
I learned that you can tank a nomap server if your host decides to surprise drop a bunch of "hilarious" unexpected parameters at the last minute like 200% foliage, dirt physics on (repulsive!), and doesn't undertake even the slightest diligence to test and survey their seed generation to confirm the first several thousand blocks surrounding spawn aren't comprised of the most hideous combination of bauxite and conglomerate (universally considered the two worst stone types!) conceivable before posting it publicly.
I've learned that neither man nor seraph were born to cohabit together within cursed cages of symmetrical concentric squares. Forced to drink nothing but experimental modded "fruit juice", beholden to no gods or rooves.
>Next time you wanna claim to be an admin, own up to your decisions

You only need the wiki for ore distribution, all other relevant infirmation is explained in-game. Certain ores will only spawn at certain depths and only into certain rock types. TYRONE HURRY THE FUCK UP GIVE ME THE UPDATE

Soup, started this recently, now binging for a week everyday nonstop. Still in (what I consider) early game, having few questions.. I found some kind of Resonance Archive vinyls, assumed its "creepy tune" a-la MC, how do I use these? Also, any tips on efficiently processing leather? Been quite chaotic and hectic that I cannot put different hides within same barrell, how do you people do it? Also, for the love of god, how do I propick? I find "Ultrahigh amounts of casserite" and I dig down and find nothing. Love the game to bits though!

Soup?
>how do I use these
Pic related. You can either find these in extremely hard to find little hidden pockets in the ground, (very unadvised) or you can buy them from a merchant. If memory serves it can be sold by both Luxury and Treasure merchants.

>I cannot put different hides within same barrel
>how do you people do it
I and I assume most others make a dedicated tanning area with multiple barrels for the various sizes, the various levels of tanning, and the various chemicals. Have a barrel for every size. Scoop out the bits of tannin you have left over and have a dump barrel that you stockpile it in until you build up enough to be used again.

>how do I propick
It's not an exact science and I don't think anyone fully understands how it works. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but when you're sampling ore it tells you what the *chances* of that ore spawning in that specific chunk are. But it's not guaranteed, and even ores that didn't show up in the sample have a chance of spawning in that chunk anyway. But your best chances of finding ore is by searching in and around chunks that do sample as "high" or "ultrahigh" and stuff to that effect.

I also find it helpful to create a heat map to determine where the highest chances of an ore spawning are. I then focus my searches there by finding a nearby cave system and going through it using the secondary function (if you have it turned on) of the propick to scan for ores within the scan radius. Alternatively to my cave spelunking, I think other people just did straight down from the surface every 16 blocks?

Why is gin the best hard liquor? I mean no cocktail that uses vodka is as good as a gin counterpart or substitute. I feel like only pussies afraid of tasting the alcohol like vodka because it is so basic and easy to mask.

Right, titanium. Didn't want to have to type it out 30 times.

Very cool, I was searching for "player" or "music box" and found some ruined props but thats about it. Oh and I do make multiple barrels, I just thought if someone had less chaotic process than mine - I just try to have all my barrels be working at all times, guess its as good as it gets. And thanks for confirmation on propick too, I do have 2nd mode and I wonder if you can do strip mining but using propick node search..

>Don't have armor
>Can kill a single wolf by chucking spears at it until it starts running away, then catching up to it and throwing one more spear
>Can kill a bear by kiting it to water
>Make myself a set of chain bronze armor and a bronze spear + shield
>Fighting a wolf still hurts and now when it runs away I can't finish it off
>Still can't fight off multiple wolves and can't run away anymore, so going to a forest is just as risky AND I risk losing my armor on top of it
>Haven't tried it, but probably still can't fight off a bear, so plains are even MORE risky since I can't run away when in armor
What the fuck is the point of wearing armor then?
>>
>>871135
You can, but the propick has significantly less uses than a regular pickaxe. I'd dig a strip mine with a pickaxe first and then come back and sample the walls every so many blocks with the propick.

>>871136
You don't lose things that you're wearing when you die. Armor and clothing is safe as long as you're wearing them.
>>
>>871136
There are damage tiers. High damage tiers fuck up your armor durability and just like me you will never make bronze/copper armor again. Gambeson or the worse one leather is fine since it hardly reduces your speed or other stuff. Just some extra defense against the loser variant drifters.
>>
>>871143
Alright then. Time to cheat on my survival world and revive, make a gambeson once my flax finishes growing and carefully mine for iron. Steel chain set will be the new target.

I liked this to have a clue about how deep some ores are and what their average size is. It's nice to know you can hardly miss olivine and iron when you prospected a bit.
>>
Should tyron do the sex update or the poop/pee update next? I vote for poop and pee to get salt from dehydrated pee and fertilizer from poop. I really like the poo poo pee pee rimworld mod. Baby slave labor in the sex update of vintage story would be cool too.

Ores spawn in flat disks. Making a heatmap with proppick like the other anon said works well. Try digging a central shaft in the hottest spot with a ladder and several horizontal spoke shafts near the mantle. You can now start poking holes straight down in the area, sensing with the node search every 10 blocks or so. When you get close to the mantle return to the surface with your central shaft. Don't be an idiot. Listen for lava pockets or you'll end up dead like in meinkramft.

>>871136
Yeah I don't understand the point of armour. Took me 2 years irl to finally make steel plate and I never use it. Mostly I run around naked or in leather so I don't get slowed down.
>>
>>871275
Actually these are banned with prejudice by the foid developer.
>>
>>871343
Plus you shouldn't really get slowed down much even in plate.

Firespread is off in og outside of events now because of its grief potential. It can even grief in claims and non flammable blocks

>Help! Natural game mechanics are griefing my server!
Then use the fucking lightning rods? Did you also refuse to put doors on your house in MineCraft and claim creepers were griefing you when they walked in and blew up?
>>
>>871724
>Help! Natural game mechanics are griefing my server
No. There is an exploit to break any block inside a claim with a torch if firespread is on. You can also (with enough time) start a fire anywhere inside a claim. You can also take a few minutes to burn every forest down.
>>
>>871724
>>871729
Actually firespread was still on when it was pit kiln accidents burning stuff down and the forest fire spam was fine. Only got disabled when exploits were being used to bypass claims.
