I've always wanted to be a racist and thanks to this thread I am now. webm stolen from a /v/ thread ages ago.
>>852096we are ALL racist on this blessed day
updated my personnel ship tier list for 1.3 and macenor8 h8, deb8, take a big diarrhea shit on my opinions
>>852150I like the M-Tech, but I really couldn’t tell you why.
Do I need to pitch up/down on rolling hills or is it only relevant when you're airborne?I just want to know if I should be pitching up when banking into high angle turns. Then subsequently pitching down as I exit if the track is somewhat angled downward.
Nothing to say I just want an excuse to post this. Carry on.
>>853117pitching down is really rarely useful, pitching up however is really important
>>853236So pitch up into a corner that's going up or should I just pitch when I'm coming off a ramp?
>>853274Both, but never too much. Pitching up harder on climbs but on jumps I usually start pitching up before hitting the groundYou should only pitch down when you're jumping so high it makes no sense/slows you down, or you're about to hit something
How the fuck do you get sub 59 seconds for the Ishtar achievement? That one long corner that goes up completely fucks my momentum, the lowest I've gotten is 1 minute
>>854511King of Snake? I found that the slowest part of the track was the long straight-ish bit just before the big downhill with the boost pads, so you should be afterburning all the way through that, can't remember doing anything else specific so ya just gotta grind it out.
>>854522also to be clear i mean the downhill just before the pit/finish line, not the long one after the chicane
>>854511Hahahahahahahaha How The Fuck Are Corners Real Hahahaha Nigga Just Jump Above The Railing Like Nigga Pitch Up Hahayou were talking about the uphill at the start right?
>>854886No, the long right turn before the straightaway that turns left then right into the boosts before the finish
>>854890My bad. I tried really hard but I couldn't jump over that one. But I think I managed to shave off like 0.3 by rebudgeting some afterburner on the exit of each turn on this section you speak about.
>>854886How do people lift off like that? Pitch up and air brake both sides for a second?
Any advice on getting used to zen anons?I was managing spectre just fine but the zen zeus campaign is destroying me.The nova split race in particular feels impossible, I keep bonking into everything. Also, should I keep "AI rubberbanding" and "AI uses player speeds" turned on?
>>855411>"AI rubberbanding"makes the game harderAs for zen you'll get used to it. I'd say reducing your input lag helps but some anon here seems perfectly fine playing at only 60fps, so what do I know..
>>855319not that anon but there are a few ways to "bounce" over a corner like that, in that webm it looks like he just pitch up + afterburned over an uphill to clear it, as long as you arent grinding against a physical wall the game is pretty lenient at letting you do stuff like that, as long as you don't go too far and get antiskippedthere aren't many situations in the game where you need to double airbrake outside of like, hyperdrag or something
>>852080>>852081>>852083>Decide to actually read the guides for the first time ever>there's actually useful informationWoah
>>856277god bless Our Father Korn (who art in normalfag land) for blessing us with the newbie guide imagesi'd update the second one to include the new 1.3 small ships + mako but i don't have korn's grafik design skillz so it'd be a very sloppy edit and probably ruin the image
>>856290I can help for the image
>>856331hit me up (Starskink) on steam (im in the steam group) if you want my input on ship stats and whatnotbut if ya could add the small vehicles + mako and a short description for each to the original newbie guide image either without breaking its aesthetic layout, or creating a whole new AESTHETIC layout, that would be perfektoi think Korn's original descriptions for the base game ships are still pretty relevant and accurate today so no real need to mess with those too much

>>868844it's a great ship but it's unarmed and lacks the NX's absolutely busted speed stat (iirc the NX is actually more like 20/10 top speed in the "hidden" ingame stats) and struggles to get away from the pack early on without a fair bit of luck

I saw Von Snake at the track in Altima XIV yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for Protonic buffs or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his airbrakes shut in front of my face. I drove away and continued with my racing, and I heard him chuckle as I boosted off. When I came to finish my lap up front I saw him trying to walk out the pit with like fifteen mines in his ship without paying. The girl at the exit was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to hit a weapon pad first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the pad. When she took one of the mines and started spawning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to spawn them each individually “to prevent any RNG infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she spawned each mine and put them in a line and started to say the damage values, he kept interrupting her by afterburning really loudly.

>>917970ah yeah then there's not really much to say besides "keep playing"the learning curve for this game is very similar to that of a fighting game, in 99% of cases the answer is just "play more" though i think by default the campaign scales enemy ship speeds to your chosen ship's top speed, you can try disabling that if you want to get a proper feel for the difference between certain ship statistics, but truthfully i dont know much about it because thats a thing that got added in one of the more recent patches

>>938106as a noob, i would love if there was a warm up round before every race. I would help me learn the map at a slower pace so that I don't get stuck on the first turn, like I usually do. could that be setup without any headache I wonder? if yes, would you guys mind?
>>938368i wouldnt mind doing "warmup" toxic sessions personally, but honestly, these multiplayer lobbies have always been a "trial by fire" kinda deal, and that sort of thing would eat into the 3-hours-or-so we usually do the regular saturday racism for, especially if we did this for every single newfriendif you're having trouble with halberd speed itself, i recommend just playing the campaign more, the multiplayer races are 99% halberd specifically because it's the "mid-class" in regards to the learning curve, so people can mostly jump in and race even if they arent 100% platinum autismosi can understand the frustration racing on custom tracks that are brand new to you while other peeps in the lobby have raced on them many times before, but if you're already accustomed to halberd speed then it only takes a few goes around a custom track to get a decent "grasp" on itt. hostfag who is relatively new to hostfagging, i welcome any and all thoughts
>>938376also to addif any newfriends feel bad about DNFing in multiplayer, please dont, the podium niggas are all nerds who have played these custom tracks hundreds of times over the past 3 years and in a few cases know some really wacky corner-skipping tech (WERNER)just focus on learning the track to start, then focus on beating whoever's in front of you, there's no shame in DNFing as a newbro
>>938376>>938386what I had in mind was just a single lap before the actual race starts. we wouldn't even need to start at the same time. Just as soon as you load type of deal. but I realise this is probably beyond the scope of regular host settings.I don't mind dnfing at all, I'm having tons of fun being just racing with ya. a warm up could imo only make the battles a little tighter for the first timers on a new map. but maybe I'll just run through them in the week, there's some really cool pieces. very inspiring, too. maybe I'll actually try to make one of my own some day.
>>938450yeah, i feel you, there was a point of discussion back in ye olde days, starting off the racism sessions an hour or something earlier, it could be a good idea to do something like this for newfriends, but y'know, timezones and all that jazz, its hard to please everyone in this regardif anyone would be willing to kickstart racedays a bit earlier, for lack of a better term, a "noob lobby" running for a little while on saturdays before the main lobby goes up at 9PM britbong time, that would be based as fuck, i'd do it myself but i can't be bothered lmao and also for me 3 hours straight of such an adrenaline pumping racing game already leaves my boomer ass rather fatigued afterwardsbut yeah honestly, your best bet if you wanna get burnt up less in MP is to just practice more in your own time, grind out the campaign and maybe time trial the custom tracks a bit
Tourist here, sorry. Does anyone know how hard it is to import an existing 3D model of a thing and turn it into a custom ship?
>>937311Might as well make Atlanta Bowl or something at that point
>>938634Keep in mind last ship I made was in 2021 so it might be different now.First you download a unity project the devs released. This project allows you to create both new ships and tracks.Once you have opened this unity project, you go to "BallisticNG -> Ships -> Create New Ship"This will create you a ship prefab. Once you have this ship prefab, you'll import your 3D model thingy into the scene. Then you'll move around thruster plumes, wingtip trails, resize your ship (you can load visual guides in the shape of a g-tek for example), etc.And when you're done you'll click on the export button and it'll create a ship that you have to move into your ships folder. This guide helped me a lot back then https://ballisticng-documentation.readthedocs.io/en/latest/unity_tools/custom_ships/index.htmli should get back to it is what i keep telling myself for a long time
