i haven't played this game in a while, can you now play a proper mage since mistlands?
>>
Tell me anons, what is the best weapon for
>you
I've been stuck in a rut using clubs for too long just because it's the easiest path. Sell me on your special snowflake weapons.
>>
>>833322
atgeir
sword+shield
axes
maces
power gap
shit
spear
>>
>>833322
I like Frostner for his speed debuff on enemies. Also does extra damage against wet enemies, which helps especially when revisiting the swamp.
Other than that, never used anything other than axes, abyssal knife and iron sledge extensively. None of the basic metal weapons.
>>
>>833322
whichever i feel like that day / adventure
>>
>>833352

Definitely add me to the spear-hating camp. Any weapon where the primary balancing factor is "has the worst hitboxes you can imagine" is not off to a good start.
>>
Is fucking FANDOM really the best wiki for this game? That site is absolute cancer, what the fuck.
>>
>>833159
I fucking hate the swamp, havent play in a week since I learned I still need iron after silver age
>>
>>833776
Unrelated but it seems *.fandom ate all the former *pedia wikis like dotapedia and goddamn it pisses me off.
>>
>>833860
Looks like they bought Gamepedia in 2019 and merged all the wikis into Fandom.
>>
>>833322
Pretty much going in order, using each weapon until I hate it. I'm just getting in to the Swamp now, just downed Elder yesterday. Bronze atgeir has been fun so far, but I have a feeling I'm going to want to get back to 1h/Shield while I get geared up in Iron.
and by "get geared up" I mean "repeatedly curse myself while I make stupid decisions and go exploring before having the necessary portal / spawn points established so dying won't make me want to pluck my eyes out and turn the game into death run after death run" FUCK.

No, I will not learn from this.
>>
Do Leviathans resurface? I need more barnacles.
>>
>>834936
Yes. They have fixed spawnpoints, that they share with serpents
>>
>>833201
Late as fuck, but yes. Converting to being a magic-user is a bit of a pain but the game becomes one of the best wizard simulators ever designed.
>>
>>834936
Unless they changed something recently, they don't respawn. Sail the ocean to find more. You need a total of 110 chitin for the harpoon and maxed knife, with each leviathan giving you about 30 until it submerges. Varies a bit since every barnacle hit has a chance of triggering submersion.
>>
Is there a 4chan server still up
>>
>>835135
>but the game becomes one of the best wizard simulators ever designed.
how so? haven't played it yet
>>
>>835226
Thank you thank you thank you, saved me a trip to fucking FANDOM with that number. Time to go a-sailin'! =)
>>
too scared to advance past the elder until I have a big trench around my main base and farms
>>
>>836749
My main base doesn't have a trench or really any fortifications at all and my farm only has stake walls. Farm didn't get invaded once, though I guess that was being lucky so far and only coming around for harvesting and slaughtering. You don't have to worry about much about defenses until you beat the mountains. By then, you hopefully have your animals enclosed to protect them from bats.

is the multiplayer still laggy as fuck if you decide to build a village?
>>
>>835135
feels like magic is a bit weak desu. Really poor regen and defense and easy to get overrun. Hopefully they scale the foods and items better in later biomes
>>
Is this game worth playing single player?
>>
>>833159
Is it possible to configure valheim + settings in-game using configuration manager 0.50? I thought i saw someone doing it on a stream but I couldnt get it to work myself
>>
>>838499
*valheim+ settings
>>
>>838393
Maybe if you like playing Minecraft solo. Valheim is one of those games that's much more fun to play with other people.
>>
>>838513
I don't mind Minecraft solo. I'm playing it now and the lack of direction is killing me. I was thinking valheim might be more engaging since it has biomes and bosses to work towards, particularly ones I've never experienced
>>
>>836941
What it's like to play on the server? I'm new to the game and tried to play with friends, but it was cancer because of different schedules.
How active is it? Do people just autistically do their own things or actually collective goals?
>>
>>838594
Unless there's been a reset I missed this instance of the server has been running for a while and bosses have be downed so harder enemies will be present in spaces they wouldn't occupy in a "fresh" world. It's also probably not super active most of the time.

When there's a refresh activity will jump up and people will usually cooperate for big milestones and spend time themselves working on personal goals.
>>
>>836941
Is the port 2456? Server isn't showing up for me
>>
>>836941
Is this a vanilla server? How about using a modpack like Journey to QoLhalla?
>>
>>833159
i heavily modded my game because the base game is goddamn stupid
a lot of the things that would make the game fun are actively made worse like structural integrity, or the whole everytime it rains my base degrades because it's fucking wood
>Noooooo, you can't teleport with that resource, it'll make the game less padded
>MMMM YESS let's make the cart for transporting resources, BUT ALSO MAKE IT HEAVY AS SHIT IF YOU WANT THE WORTHWHILE METALS
like i understand some things it's tryna be more "realistic" but my nigga, i'm in fucking valhalla killing fucking goblinlookinassdwarfs and giant tree niggas, i can suspend my disbelief that the structure i made can stand because it's a bloody game
>>
>>842394
Skill issue.
>>
>>842394
>i heavily modded my game because the base game is goddamn stupid
Cool, what mods do you use?
>a lot of the things that would make the game fun are actively made worse like structural integrity
Gives you a reason to pursue better materials and doesn't let you build a floating house in the sky. Don't have an issue with it.
>or the whole everytime it rains my base degrades because it's fucking wood
Build a roof. Rain damage only really is an issue for freestanding structures like docks or bridges.
>>Noooooo, you can't teleport with that resource, it'll make the game less padded
If you could just put down a portal, it would kill almost all the risk/reward tradeoff the game has.
>>MMMM YESS let's make the cart for transporting resources, BUT ALSO MAKE IT HEAVY AS SHIT IF YOU WANT THE WORTHWHILE METALS
I've lugged carts with 2000 weight no problem.
Clear the path of enemies first or drop the cart if you need to fight something. Eat stamina foods so you can run. Make it to your boat or safehouse. Or play with others to spread the workload.
What really is bullshit though is how small your inventory is, with each biome adding shit you want to carry around as options (food, meads, fishing pole) and nowhere near enough spaces to put it, even when you're well below weight limit. One of the things I use mods for too.
>>
>>833352
its just the way its throw thing works, like you throw it to hit the enemy and... youve lost your weapon. and yeah hit boxes are shit without any clear advantage.

came here to say/ask if the game is dead because multiplayer is so mediocre still. devs have no vision or understanding at all.
>>
>>837514
yeah that was my issue, once a server gets played in for a bit it just gets super fucked up. glad to hear it wasnt just my computer.

I don't like myself enough to build the logistics/infrastructure to progress through the game "the right way", but I also dislike the idea of just installing mods and cheating my way to the best gear. A slow burn is fine, but this game's a slog.
>>
>>843744

I feel you bro. I've boot strapped myself through the mountains a couple times but after that there's just too much busy work for me to want to keep playing.

The game seems like it would be a lot more fun with friends but singleplayer feels too much like tedium. Plus it's hard to get into building cool looking shit when no ones gonna see it anyway and that's most of the real game.
>>
>>833159
D2 maggot lair was w3 years ago and these chucklefucks managed to reproduce that shifty experience in every set piece they've created. Did they never play a video game in their lives?

I am never going to make progress.
Anybody want to buy a barn out in the middle of Uselessville?

>>855525
At least it didn't sink your karve. Your corpse floats, the nails and hides don't.
>>
Buck, Soggison, are you still playing? Found your server in the last thread and it looks pretty comfy. Only being up to Elder makes it nice for newcomers as well. Don't want to spoil that with high-level gear, but I planted some vegetables you might find useful.
>>

Wanted to wait for one of them to respond instead of just posting IP and password. But if you search the last thread, it's the one with the name of the Lord as pw.

I'm not going to be able to keep this magic farm going for very long am I?
>>
>>842788
>What really is bullshit though is how small your inventory is
This. Unless it's advertising itself as some SUPER HARDCORE SIMULATOR like Tarkov or something equally shit, a game should have either a weight limit or an inventory slot limit, not both

lol, why are you loot goblins trying to carry around everything you own? This is a skill issue, my dudes, and the skill is "basic planning."
1) SCOUT
2) ESTABLISH LOGISTICS
3) MAIN TASK
4) HAUL
If you're doing it right, #4 might be the only thing you need to do more than once.

If you have more than a full stack of anything (except maybe metal), obliterate that shit. Treat your Obliterator as your overflow dump chest, and get over whatever anxiety is preventing you from pulling that lever on a regular basis. If it's easy enough to accumulate multiple stacks, it'll be easy enough to farm on demand (IF you even need to).

This also assumes you aren't doing retarded shit like bringing full stacks of food (eight real life hours) around. Eat before you go and carry ONE extra piece of food; if you desperately need the space (read: you haven't done #2 for dump chests), eat that food, and bam, three free slots. Keep one health mead for good luck; if you've overextended enough that you need to use it, it's time to go home.

You hoarders are just doing it to yourselves. I have no sympathy.
>>
New patch broke everything. Why do I even bother.
>>
>>859101
Damn nigga, I'm not reading all that but I bet you're making a lot of assumptions
>>
New patch broke my signs. I used to be able to do floating text. Hope they revert that design choice.
>>
>>843755
This is where I'm at right now. Need a few more silver runs and frost caves to finish upgrading everything, but I really don't see myself playing much further solo. I can't step foot in my main base without triggering some fucking retarded raid.
I almost want to start a new world and never kill any bosses so I don't have to put up with that raid bullshit.
The game isn't "brutal" any more, it's just tedious and annoying on purpose.
>>
>>860640
Most raids are two minutes and appear every four hours spent near a base on average (20% every 46 minutes). As long as you don't have half your base destroyed, they hardly take time at all.
But damn, I still remember that raid I got at a temporary base next to a copper strip mine.
>>
>>842394
Building large structures is mostly pointless. A lot of what's present in the game is filler for autists and doesn't have a use in progression. A lot of the progression itself is just shit like getting a new crop to plant. The game is still pretty barebones and is heavily carried by modding
>>
>>843755
Automation and npcs would make the game so much better. Once you have to start breeding chickens for food it becomes obvious how retarded the design is.
>>
>>858466
>add magic to the game
>make it a non renewable resource
What are they going to do in subsequent biomes? Gonna be real ass having to find more sap all the time
>>
>>860718
I know, but it's needless tedium. I solved raids before I murked Elder, and they've only gotten less dangerous and more annoying.
Feels like they're a lot more frequent than 20% every 46m, but I do have the habit of puttering around the base. I hate how the looming "threat" of raids force me to zoom-zoom base activities so I can get out of the zone as quickly as possible. Every other base and outpost only have two Player Base items, just to avoid that garbage.
>>
>>843755
yeah, beating a dead horse but last time i played a server, the server became insanely draggy and laggy and i just stopped bothering. did single player for a bit then the mistlands came out and spent maybe 2 weeks of casual playing trying to fucking find yagluth but it looks like my fucking world doesnt have a yagluth and at that point i just said fuck it, this is really boring and stopped.
>>
>>861532
I liked mods to plant and harvest in bulk, with the planter tool thing not taking stamina. Speed up a lot of the consumable processes. Breeding is really fucking dumb though and I don't ever bother with it.
>>
I killed Moder last night! (Solo, vanilla)
Fight was a gosh darn mess. My wolves died almost immedately, my Draugr Fang broke from overuse, I didn't bring my Huntsman Bow as a backup because I'm a 'tard, there was a nail-biting moment where I ducked down to the bottom of a well to re-apply the Well-Rested buff with Moder just sitting on my head. Just a mess.
During the course of the fight, that goofy dragon must have found an underground silver vein, because I had four stacks of ore to sail back home; getting annoyed at the wind, then realizing I could just hit F and skip all that was glorious. Scouting for a good spot to tackle the Plains is going to be ...a breeze. :)
I really have to start taking more screenshots. I'm not in the mindset of showing off my dinky little solo world to others. Moder kicked the shit outta the whole mountaintop, lol, I had to spend an entire day cleaning that mess up (and then bringing it from my mountaintop portal down to the docks to put on the boat back home)
>>
