Trying to make a custom terrain design, anyone know why this black dotted line is appearing?

Pt. 1
0) Get a fucking Photoshop from torrents
1) Take a look at template.png that's already filled with assets to see how assets are placed
2) Open input.png in photoshop and fill it with your assets like it's done in template.png
3) Save it as shit.psd
4) Now it's time to convert it to indexed color - click on Image -> Mode -> Indexed Color and set the settings to pic rel
5) Save it AS A COPY - press ctrl+alt+s and save it as input.png next to easyterrain.exe
6) run easyterrain.exe
7) it should create an "output" directory - go inside it
8) launch SpriteEditor.exe inside the directory
9) Click on "Reconstruct from log" button and select "Level.dir.txt" from output directory
10) Click on "save as" icon - save it as Level.dir in output directory
11) Create a new directory in WA/Data/Level and place your Level.dir there
12) Copy icon.png from output to you WA/Data/Level/Terrain and rename it as text.img
13) Launch WA and select it in map editor, start the game
14) If the game didn't crash, then terrain probably looks like shit because you fucked up something
15) Edit terrain assets in photoshop to fix graphical glitches. You can convert between RGB/Indexed modes in photoshop from Image/Mode menu, BUT DON'T DO THIS AFTER CONVERTING TO INDEXED MODE- it will copy dithered image and permanently fuck up your assets. Instead, reload the file from .psd or undo the indexed mode conversion in history.
16) Open gradient.img.bmp in photoshop - convert it to RGB mode from Image/Mode menu, draw a fucking nice gradient, set it to indexed mode - but this time use 17 colors, no transparency, maybe 50% to 100% dithering, overwrite the file. when asked whether BMP should be in Windows or OS/2 format, select OS/2
17) Open icon.img.bmp, convertt it to RGB color, place your terrain icon image, convert it to indexed mode with 17 colors, save file
18) Gradient and icon should be converted the next time you run "Reconstruct from log"

Other notes:
- You can select "Compress .IMG files" checkbox to reduce terrain file size, but you need to make sure that all assets have dimensions divisible by 4. Easyterrain tries to automatically pad them to 4 pixels, but in case of grass.img and bridges it usually fucks it up with adding transparent pixels.
- Inside debris samples.png you have some ready to use debris sprites, you can copy&paste them into your terrain input.png
- If WA crashes when entering the map editor / selecting your terrain, it probably means you don't have text.img icon in terrain dir or the icon is fucked up. you can just copy&paste text.img from other folders in WA/Data/Level
- If WA crashes when clicking on map preview in map editor, then something is really wrong. in wkTerrainSync.ini set: EnableDevConsole = 1 , LogToFile = 1 and DebugSpriteImgLoading = 1 under [debug] section, and relaunch the game to crash it again. Inside wkTerrainSync.log you will have a log of loaded files, probably the last .img load crashes the game, go fix it somehow
- if WA crashes when starting the match, then probably the back.spr or debris.spr is fucked up. In case of back.spr, you can try moving the asset in input.png to "_back.spr" box, which has better support for bigger/irregular sprites. Again, you can test it by setting debug settings in .ini
- If you have prepared a custom debris.spr animation, make sure to update the width, height dimensions and nmber of frames in debris.spr.spd - otherwise SpriteEditor.exe will throw an error when converting the sprite or the sprite will be fucked up in WA

I used the terrain guide files + the sprite editor included in them. Background is the only thing that's not really working, everything else is fine (spikes are a fuck up on my part and I'll fix them later)

i've noticed it several times and i have no idea what causes it. it seems like certain shades of blue, gray and other colors trigger this. i don't know if it's caused by sprite editor's glitch or some other logic in WA palette code. easyterrain is unrelated to this, since gradient.img is independent from it. just redraw the gradient until it works

Armageddon has better physics and mechanics; customization and ease of use (rubberworm, custom image maps, extremely easy to create and join online lobbies, etc).
It also has an alive community that develops cool mods and it's still receiving updates to this day.
WMD is an ok game and the closest they've gotten to trying to catch lighting in a bottle like they did with Armageddon bit still falls short. Think of Melee vs the latest Smash game.

one of the things reloaded's mapmaking has that I didn't realize at first was that you can set custom backgrounds for your maps that lets you make pretty nice-looking setpieces. As far as I know there's no such feature or mod for armageddon at this time.

I should mention it's not a "true" background like the gradient is, it's a solid image that is rendered along with the foreground, you just use transparency to make it intangible.
That being said It's such a neat feature which makes me sad no one's tried to replicate it in armageddon yet. Maybe one day a modfag will come to the rescue but for now I just have to deal with custom terrains and foreground lol

1v1 only.

Worms is too slow and tactical for any other amount really, if you play with 3+ everyone vs everyone, you have to wait too long for your turn.

Team matches are also fine but unless it's clanners (and even then), you're stuck with a teammate that could lose you the game without you being able to do anything.

So yeah, 1v1 is the only way to play Worms correctly.
