Oh no no no no
I realize there's no 2280 guide, so this will do instead. It's still relevant to even BNGhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxzYkTralIA

>>597477Best to copy 1.2.5 to somewhere in your PC so you can hop between the two builds more easily.
>>597541does something fucky happen if you try to revert back via steam to 1.2.5 after playing on the beta?

>>599940okay now make it again without 1000000 custom ships barely anybody has installed
>>600278>>601006Are any base BNG ships even in his B Tier? That's implying there's a big power gap seeing there's virtually everything but Nexus and Tenrai in C and E. What's with some of these ships that resemble base ones in different tiers too? Like, there's an M-Tech in B but the original is in E, there's a Nexus offshoot in B too, a second Diavolt in C, etc - all with similar stat cards each.
>>601020yeah, it's very confusing, it looks like there's a nexus in both A and B tier? and from what i can tell from the stats for ants they have the exact same stats?
>>601020>>601021stat cards don't actually mean anything since its made up by the person who made the ship, so ships can have the exact same stat lines and be completely different the stats of ships are a lot more complicated than a 1-10 numerical value
>>601082yeah the stats are pretty much meaningless compared to the in-race values but it's still retarded placing them alongside mod ships which, presumably, the creators actually made somewhat of an effort to make the stat sheets match up to the actual stats, a tier list of just the vanilla ships and a tier list of just mod ships would be much better
>install 1.3beta>launch game once just fine, close game>launch again, crashes right away>won't work until I restart my computerI blame enai

>>601984If you have any 1.2.5 code mods, disable em, they're conflicting with beta version, I suppose. You can disable them without launching a game, from the mod folder.

What is the opinion on analog vs digital steering? One one hand a good dpad gives instant input but on the other analog helps for the more sweeping turns like those in luna and helios descent.
>>608713I get tired fast on digital, fine tuning the steering is a lot more annoying and require 2 or 3 button taps while on the stick you can tilt a bit a be done with it, controls much better.
>>608713Also it's just as fast on the stick anyway
>>608713the problem with analog is the circular gate on your stick. Depending on how your controller is mapped and calibrated you may not be able to press all the way on the x and y axes at the same time. Can be adjusted if you need to but be aware of it.
>>608202They actually buffed his speed to match the other players, except for Hamachi and Phoon because they have the Speed Demon perk. And some good news, /vm/ made it to the round of 16 and they get to play with the big teams in the Summer Cup being held sometime in July. I actually want to ask all of you this: Do you have a favorite song from the BallisticNG soundtrack in case G-TEK scores? At the moment it's just the G-TEK theme from the game itself but the team manager is willing to hear from all of you before their next match on Saturday.

>Racing game sale on Steam>BNG not discountedThat aside, given how Cygon is in the game how is GRIP?
>>623760It's alright. Really nails the death race aspect in its gameplay and setting design, but it's definitely a lot more casual. It's designed around the idea of getting blown up and tumbling through the air, losing a lot of time trying to reorient yourself. If you're interested, it's only like $1 on key sites, and some of the guys from the weekly race day sessions have started to play it, but not with any schedule regularity.
>>623760BnG is already a steal being under 10 euros, even if you count Outer Reaches into the price. Honestly the last game that needs a discount
>>624017Yeah that's fair, just thought it an unusual exception since that also means less promotion.
>>624017>>624166It's also weird because BallisticNG got fucking namedropped in the Steam Racing Fest news announcement. Granted, I agree that the game is so cheap that it doesn't need a sale, but you'd think Snake would at least do the token $0.80 discount he usually whips out, just so it's technically "on-sale" to attract people expecting to buy only discounted games during right now, especially since many people will only search with such a filter on during this time.
>>623760It's ok, fun but frustrating handling sometimes. The solo campaign is also pretty damn short. Some of us here are playing it online as well

>found the battery chargeralso how do i stop sucking absolute dick at thisi'm fine with the basics; afterboosting, pitching, wall scraping, racing lines etcdoes it just come down to muscle memory after that or am i missing something?
>>624971>does it just come down to muscle memoryYes.
>>624971>i'm fine with the basics; afterboosting, pitchingI'm not. Pitching feels very unnatural to me.
>>624971Muscle memory and learning how the ships feels and how much turning without aerobrakes you can get away withAs well how much pitching up or down you need to avoid bonking the groundAlso feeling how the aerobrakes handle by themselves is useful for quick corrections, for most ships they strafe a bit which is very useful if you're about the hit some chicane wall>>625055I'm once again gonna recommend to disable the pitch controls on the stick and move the commands to the triggers or bumpers. I use RT/R2 for pitching up and LT/L2 for pitching down.Give it a try but don't overthink it. Pitching up is important for only 2 things: soften your landing after a jump, and grinding the walls instead of hard hitting them. Flying as much as possible generally makes the game a lot easier with a bigger margin of error, hitting walls while flying even a inch above the base hoover height is enough for the game to think you're only grinding walls instead of hard hitting them. That's why drag racing should be done while permanently pitching up, you'll start bunny hopping which is always funny. Once you get really good at the game you'll be glad to have the pitching on analog trigger because you'll understand how much altitude you really need at all time (because pitching too much do make you lose speed) Pitching down is rarely a good idea, you can practically ignore it except for space tracks and rare piece of tracks where it's better to hug the ground to avoid an unnecessary jump.
>>625074>I use RT/R2 for pitching up and LT/L2 for pitching down. What do you use for the flaps then?
>>625083R1/L1 obviously
>>624971Reduce the amount you use your airbrakes to the minimum
>>625750i sort of realized this when trying to use keyboard controls for a bit. do you guys use the stick or d-pad when using a controller?
>>625815digital is supposed to be better, but i use analog because d-pad hurts my thumb after a whileyou should use whatever's most comfortable for you
>>625074Pitching down can make you take some really sharp curves if the curve is sloped inwards, but it makes fucking up even more punishing

>>627778I do like how the art has evolved to bolter, more vibrant colours. It may not be as cool as what psygnosis did in 2097 but it does feel more like an evolution of 3/fusion without going to the gleaming chrome and glass vibe HD has going for it.

>>631750https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YGz3cD0PfkPlaying wipe on PSX back then it was all digital pretty much anyway so yes, just don't ignore the pitching up keyJust make sure your keyboard isn't shit, do this rollover test with at least 4 key pressed at once:https://www.mechanical-keyboard.org/key-rollover-test/https://www.iljitsch.com/2020/keyboardtest/Because the game will ask you to press more than 4 if not 5 or 6 keys at the same time in some cases and some cheap keyboards don't actually pass this test. If the keys are recognized correctly while pressing 4 others at once then you're good
>>623762>>624276I've been playing it on and off since the sale and it feels like I'm either getting filtered or it's deliberately tilting by design, mistakes in BNG can be punishing but holy fuck not this badly. Whether it's controlling a Roller or Airblade, it feels like there's always something on the road will unpredictably fuck up your racing line. Game didn't tell me about charging weapons until up to like Wild Speed either, which probably changes some things.Funny choice of crossover vehicles too, a shame there isn't something like Diavolt or Scorpio though.
I'm playing through the campaigns and I suck at some of the later ones. There's one 1v1 race on Luna and the npc beats me on a straight line even with the car that is 9/10/9 or something for accel, speed, handling.

It's good, I like it more than the first game for sure.No weapons is a shame though, it plays more like fzero than Wipe now, especially with the energy system. This makes it unlikely for me to be interested in playing MP. It's not Wipe or BNG but it's funif you're buying legit I think it might be worth waiting a patch or two because I could only manage good perf with low textures, and force DX 11.
>>640077>it plays more like fzeroTo be fair how many anti-gravity racers even loosely resemble F-Zero? Aero GPX is probably the only game I can think of and that's still in development.

>>646513Well, I like both for sure. I don't really have a preferenceDon't hesitate to ask for some 2280 racing next time if you play with us
That's another fucking annoying thing about the ***cord, their absurd hatred for 2280. I'm glad dev isn't listening to them and he has some 2280 fixes in the work (it feels good already but could get some tweaks, and hopefully a campaign)
>>646592>A 2280 campaign
>>646391sorry about the caliburns yesterday, I didn't see this post before joining
>>646859No it's fine, I'm just more frustrated over the game itself featuring such an extremely overpowered ship like it's nothing, than people actually using it, just make sure not to pick up bad habits from using it.
>>646592At one point during early access, WOOC players were buying the game exclusively for 2280 and demanding it be the main physics mode instead of 2159.The only reason Von's fixing 2280's code after 1.3 is because BNG is about to reach a wider audience with the upcoming Switch release. I doubt there's gonna be official content for it when people can make it themselves if they put some effort into it.
>>647016>demanding it be the main physics mode instead of 2159Man, that's stupid. That's about as stupid as pretending 2280 doesn't exist at all/isn't good.

I have 5 bucks left in my steam wallet so I've been checking out some cheap games. Tried out this game's "demo", if you catch my drift, and I am extremely impressed.Never having played a Wipeout game in my life and being completely in love with F-Zero GX, I thought the game would completely miss the mark for me with the different handling, the weapons and so on but holy shit is it fun to play. I only wished you had to unlock the different ships by playing instead of having them all from the start, but I guess it has its benefits too.The thing is, how important is to get all the dlc's? I only have enough money to buy the base game and I really don't want to spend anymore after all I've bought on the sales. If I'd be missing a lot without them, I'd rather wait till next month to get it all bundled together.
>>648515Glad you like the game, that's pretty rare coming from Fzero fans who usually reject any AG racing games that's not exactly like Fzero (ironically dooming the whole genre and their chance at getting a new Switch episode in the process)Have fun with the base campaign for now, it's already potentially hundred of hours for a Wipeout newbie, so you can always buy the DLCs later.I have no idea if they ever go on sale though. Is something happening next month? Anyway there's only one paid DLC to buy so far and it only add 5 tracks and the campaign, so it shouldn't be a priority at all. Also if you have issues with the gameplay just ask away for tips, there's a lot to do and know in this game and the Wipe series as a whole
>>648554>there's only one paid DLC to buy so farShit, you're right. I saw 4 items on the dlc section and inmediately assumed they were all tracks or ships without actually reading the content.>Is something happening next month?I get a paycheck. I could easily pay for the dlc right now, but I've already spent enough on the steam sales. It's all about self-control, really. Anyways, thanks for the answer. Unless some other hidden gem caughts my eye, I'll be sure to get this one.
>>648515>I only wished you had to unlock the different ships by playing instead of having them all from the startOrdinarily, you have to unlock Barracuda A & S (which are nigh-perfect super ships) through the campaign, as well as Precision Delta via the precision trials. Otherwise all ships are readily available in online play.
How in the fuck am I meant to do the turn-around and u-turn in Hydrome Bed? Trying to practice this in Survival as well but the game especially punishes some attempts on the latter by kicking in the anti-cheat. Does the AI just blatantly cheat in this track or what?
>>648728I usually just go fukken hard on the air brakes and turning inward when it comes to 180 hairpins. Boosting kinda helps but it's just something you gotta feel out.
>>648728>Does the AI just blatantly cheat in this track or what?Yes, if they didn't they wouldn't even be able to finish a lap.
>>648728When it doubt approach it from the outside and turn in to give yourself as much space as you need. So for the drop down hug the left and turn in right and for the uphill u-turn approch it from the outside right. More space, less hassal. Racing lines make everything easier.
Is there an ideal track to practice pitching? I've just bought the game and I'm really struggling at maintaining speed when going uphill.
>>649726Luna
>>649726Yep Luna and try setting the pitch controls on the triggers
>>646513I played more Wipeout HD than regular Wipeout so I prefer it.
>>649824I use the right stick for pitching, right trigger is the throttle.
>>650027>Redout's controlsWell, as long as it works for you
It's up guys
