Fed up with too easy braindead MMOs?
Ever heard of D&D?
Boy do I got a challenge for you.

Up till New Year pretty much 80% of this game is up for grabs too.

Fair warning though, it's not for your average zoomer.
The guy summed it up perfectly in the last thread that reached bump limit.

Don't worry, it's a dead 4chan guild.
It's not like you'll ever find anyone to group with on any server.

>>478143
At least 4 people online within the past 48 hours!
>>
>>478139
Everybody starts there, currently the biggest population as its the top server in the list.

Good idea to keep playing there.
Just doing the korthos quest up to epic on 3 more servers will earn you enough free coins to outright buy the 3 99point sale expansions.

As a tip, use a human for these throwaway characters and creat him with the

>>
>>478143
heck, why all the comfy games are dead.
>>
>>478157
Methinks it's because they are dead that they are comfy. All the people who would be going for min maxed builds and demanding everyone uses this specific, perfect min maxed end game build to do Misery's Peak are all gone, or just running solo 600+ past life characters
>>
>>478157
MMOs are sort of dead in general. Doubly so if they're 15 years old.
>>
>>478175
Seems razonable, but a bit grim from my zoomie perspective.
>>
>>478150
More like 5, but there's a big level gap and different schedules, I rarely see anyone online and just run shit until I notice I missed guild messages and they already logged off.
>>
Hardcore actually looks pretty fun with the twice as crowded server and plentiful LFGs in low level areas with actually filled groups. I'm not sure I like the permadeath though and the whole thing being essentially over in a month.

>>478157
There's also an active Hardcore season going on at the moment, so that makes the regular servers even more dead.
I'd say that the general population of DDO is mostly healthy. Usually you can find an LFM to jump into within your level range. The quality of the groups varies, mostly zergy and quick to finish since they've done the quest too many times during their TR trains.
There's many people that play in closed groups with friends or guild that never open an LFM due to the above stated reasons.
>>
>>478206
You can transfer your HC character at the end of the season to any of the current servers, for free.
Even if you die, it doesn't matter.
My very first level 20 in DDO was during HC season 1
>>
>>478217
I will probably end up on HC eventually. Really makes the loot more valuable.
>>
>>478206
>not sure I like the permadeath though
It is quite "hardcore", after all.
I frikken died at Lvl3 in the harbor on the piss easy "Bringing the Light" quest on elite.

>>
>>478206
Playing hardcore in DDO sounds fucking awful, at least on elite. So many quests are stuffed with instadeath traps.
>>
>>478252
That's the good part, find a nice trapped slope and get your grease clicky ready.
Or did they nerf its amazing griefing potential?
>>
>>478252
Well you do get 2 "training" runs before getting to elite.
But that's why "useless" skills like spot, search or reflex, fortitude saves aren't that useless anymore.
Or a proper thief.

Though honestly speaking, it IS mostly people running that, who know almost all quests by heart.
>>
>>478188
I would play more if the crippling lag wouldn't prevent me. I even reinstalled yesterday afternoon and it felt like a much smoother, improved gameplay experience, even the lag would revert back to normalcy after a short time.
Then I play today, get 5 minutes into a quest, can't even hear dialogue coherently because it constantly stutters, and go 100-15% from the first boss mob because I'm completely frozen. It's so frustrating and no other game does this. At least I can advertise and invite.
>>
>>478206
Yeah, the lagfest locking up the entire game for 30 seconds globally and then a dozen people all dying simultaneously because monsters keep attacking during lag spikes is so fun.

How about this but quest items only, that a new player can attain?
>>
>>478392
Those are actually a bit more difficult since they're "recent". Especially the lava mine boss, that guy slaps.
>>
>>478497
I feel that a new player shouldn't worry about this until they actually start TRing. Good items to keep in mind as a brand new player are boots with the movement speed clicky. You can get a 2 charge one from a korthos quest or a 3 charge as a drop from a borderlands quest.
Pretty much use those all the time.
Featherfall cloaks/swap items are also a good thing to keep handy. Easy to farm if you kill rares in the Borderlands wilderness area.

Up to 3049 favor so far in Hardcore. Level 16, done almost all level 11 and below quests. This has been such a blast. Hope I don't die!
>>
>>478784
Good job, this is where it starts to drag on. Once you hit level 19 and you have to do a ton of favor it starts to feel a bit miserable. Especially if you think of the grind you have to do again if you die.
The bloody footprints are pretty neat, too bad I won't be playing much during current HC cause of other games.
>>
DDO got fucked raw by powercreep, mostly the new enhancement system and cannith crafting
but my biggest problem with the game aside from the shitty servers are still tomes, which are of course some seriously P2W shit
>but you can find them in game
loel
>>
>>478879
I agree that tomes are absolute BS and I'm someone who has all +7 on my main character. Having tomes opens up a huge amount of builds as well, it's really nice to have.
At least you can get a +2 and a +5 tome every life if you farm 1750 and 5k favor.
>>
We are like 15 posters, thats enough for a small guild?
>>
>>478908
I think there is one, but it's dead? People play on different servers is the issue
>>
>>478928
Yep that's the problem, If we collectively agreed to reroll on the same server we could get something going.
>>
>>478931
Suppose we go onto the one with most anons? Or since Cannith already has a guild with a ship we can use that? I don't mind re-rolling, hell even starting from Korthos would be fun again with real groups
>>
>>478931
hmmm... im just starting in Argonnessen (level 2) so i could not mind rerolling that much
>>
>>478933
Argonessen would make sense for overall pop, otherwise Thelanis is the 2nd biggest one.
>>
>>478931
That was the deal with Cannith. The (level 39) guild was only made earlier this year.
>>
>>478931
Don't know about the rest but that's a lot to ask, especially considering how much time and money someone might have put into their character already. I wouldn't mind putting an alt on the server to play with everyone, but wouldn't abandon my main.
>>
>>478908
>>478931
That's what happened on Cannith but people played at different hours and then Hardcore started up and people split and started playing there and then people got bored or had to deal with life issues and now half the guild hasn't logged in for a while.
>>
>>478967
As an EU player, time zones are indeed an issue
>>
>>478497
Actually for a brand new player the Korthos chain and its end reward set are still a great start.

You might even do the Major's quest up to elite to grab not only the first half of your set but the pretty handy search/spot goggle and a striding boot or gauntlet.
One or the other, striding doesn't stack like almost everything in D&D.

Once you're fresh of the boat in the Harbor, make sure you grab and level appropriate hireling and the 3 free bags.
>https://ddowiki.com/page/Fitzpat_the_Fence
Then head on right past
>https://ddowiki.com/page/Felix_d%27Cannith
to the Market and start
>https://ddowiki.com/page/The_Sharn_Syndicate
for a very good nicked weapon for your level.

From that point on you might either start going around the harbor and market to grind out free inventory bags
>https://ddowiki.com/page/The_Coin_Lords
Continue Felix' cannith quest, to prepare for crafting a very useful underwater action gear.
in the Harbor has good end rewards too.

With the coupon code you can even go for the mount by grinding out the bosses over in Borderlands.

That should keep you going for a day or two.
>>
>>478984
Another point of interest is selling your loot.

Avoid just dumping trash gear at the inn.
Got to the traders in the market, right down the trainers.
When your gear outleveles them, head over to Felix' Canith map.
The higher level gear traders are up north somewhere.

>How do i get into HC?
Have a deep desire either for the rewards or the pure challenge of it. No matter what you are going for, always be joining a group or starting a group. There are so many people on all level ranges in hardcore you will almost never quest alone.
If you are going for 5K favor (this season you will get bloody footprints), press the 'P' key in-game to open up the favor menu. Click on "Adventures", sort by level, and see all of the quests you have done and have not done. Just do 'em all unless you know they are a bitch (like TOEE p2)
If you are going for level 20 (the neat red cloak), just do your normal levelling quests and try not to die. Don't be afraid to be a bit over level, you can run with favor groups to make up for lost XP.
Check out Strimtom's hardcore builds for this season, and he also mentions previous seasons' builds which still hold up here https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/528713-Strimtom-s-Hardcore-Ready-Character-builds-Season-5?s=20b67675f468f591d0a7e05d2e9db707

was this the one with the hilariously bad voice acting at least in the opening quests? i remember going around trying different mmos around the time rift was coming out because i wanted to try WoW's competition and laughing my ass off at what i think was this game's terrible voice deliveries.
>>
>>481074

Probably. It's intentionally terrible since the narrator is supposed to be the Dungeon Master. Saves them money on voice acting too

How would you even describe WoW gameplay? I like the secret areas in DDO, and that you can play INT classes that are better at searching for secret doors and disabling traps, or you can cast True Sight to see most of the secret entrances. When I first played DDO I was mindblown. However, I feel this aspect is more true for the earlier quests.
>>
>>481187
I have been enjoying the platforming aspects of the game. Or that there exist platforming aspects at all.
>>
>>481128
Extremely different. From quest design, to builds to itemization.

There is no gear treadmill, of course generally higher level items are better but there are low level items that stay forever good and thus are worth hunting for and have real lasting value. Quests are all instanced, narrated with optional tasks, sometimes multiple endings and hidden secrets. Builds are well.. D&D with a dash of mmo flavor.

There's several central hubs that lead to quests. Hubs and quests vary from mausoleums, to complex urban scapes to classic Forgotten Realms grasslands and high mountains, to deserts and foreign planes. My favourite are jungle areas, webm related. Using featherfall from high areas gives me a boner every time.

It used to be pretty bad as far as environments go for f2p. The quests were basically Innsmouth\Sewers & Warehouses\Jungle temples.
Now that most of the content is free there's a shitton of variety, both in looks and map design. Just look up the adventure packs for what strikes your fancy and hop between them if you ever get bored of their setting.
>>481819
Assuming you've hit the f2p cap - the bank is premium only, but the limit grows with level. Around level 13 it's practically lifted.
So what you can do is create a new char, make use of the free level 10 start in December and mail all your excess money to your new mule.

level 5 sorceror. bought a couple extra bags so i could haul all my gear around. have no idea what gear is worthwhile. Not having a problem killing stuff, but I'm scared to sell anything.

i'm trying to use weapons that hav buffs for fire or acid because i am putting action points into earth and fire savant. that makes sense.

not sure what do with armors etc. do i just hold onto them, quick slot items that make sense to wear in certain scenarios? or equip / unequip to get temporary bonuses?

For armor grab anything with decent AC, PRR and MRR, CON and any fancy effects you might find useful. Fortification as well, since it prevents you from getting crit as often.
For general gearing try to keep your spellpower high, crit rating high, main stat high for DCs, stats that give extra DCs for the spell schools you use. Be sure to get boots with swiftness on them for faster movement.
There's also niche tings like death ward that you generally want on an item, can prevent you from getting instakilled by certain effects.

I'm sure there's plenty of things I'm missing, but that's just off the top of my head
>>
>>482018

thanks man, but what are:

>PRR and MRR

and

>DC

Are these items switched out when appropriate scenario is encountered? I.e. how actively are you equipping / changing armors?
>>
>>482025
The only thing I can think about when it comes to swapping is when you have items such as these boots >>481920 that are called "clickies", you swap to it, use the buff/effect, then swap back.

>>482025
PRR and MRR are physical resistance rating and magical resistance rating. Scroll over it on your character's sheet to see how much damage you avoid.

DC is Difficulty Class. https://ddowiki.com/page/Difficulty_class
Basically it makes it so it's harder for monsters to make saves vs your spells, thus doing more damage.
>>

Keep an eye on Deathblock equipment, if you are a spellcaster, it's usually on Bracers or Belts.
>>
>>482056

i've got some of that. I had assumed it was for a type of spell i.e. a "death" spell that I may begin to encounter at some point. Is it more general protection?
>>
>>482061
You are correct, it protects from specific kill spells, e.g. Finger of Death, Disintegration and whatever Beholders bombard you with. If memory servers, it gets important from level 6 or 8, maybe a bit later, depends on the level you are running your quests on. General spellcasters can get nastier stuff on Hard or Elite. Bosses often have nasty shit regardless of difficulty.
>>
>>482061
https://ddowiki.com/page/Deathblock

The wiki is your best friend and anyone playing this game needs to favorite it. But yeah Deathblock saves you from instant death effects, extremely important.

Fear immunity is good too if you can get that.

I didn't mind the orbs of Wheaton if only because I could ignore them but god damn I learned my lesson to ignore everything else involving these quests. Can't imagine how much buyer's remorse I'd have if I paid for these, or god forbid blew some points on them.
Going through Ravenloft now and while the "big for the sake of being big" design philosophy continues there's at least some better atmosphere present. Overall I'm glad to see there's agreement that ToEE fuken sux.
>>
>>482271
Ravenloft at least has teleporters right to the front of the quests so you only have to explore the wilderness if you want to.
ToEE's best items are the named drops, not what you craft, and even the named drops are dated. Elemental Bloom is an alright quarterstaff which lowers Wisdom which makes it easier to Paralyze with, Sapphire Sting is an alright bow, and the 2 head items are fine to make cosmetics of.

Been tuning my Veteran3 builds for max favor running on the different servers. My best I think is:
Barb 3
Str 18, Con 14, Int 10, Cha 12: Levels in Str
Skills initially in Spot/Search/Jump/Swim/etc
Two-handed, Power Attack, Weapon Focus
FB: Athletic, Sprint Boost+Extra Action, Core2
RV: Scar, Power, Core2
Bard 6
Doors, Retreat, Blur, Invis, Cure Mod. etc.
Balance/Haggle/Perform 6/etc.
WC: Boast, Edda, Iced, Core3
Fighter 1
KS: Core1, Extra Action(1)
Essentially a racecar-man with 10+ speed boosts and hard hits. Boast for tempHP, spells for healing/mitigation/utility, functions as hagglebot too. You should be able to tweak things a bit, but you need 12 Cha for spells. I haven't had much chance to try it past Enter the Mists, but 175+ speed is really fun regardless.

Please don't do that anymore.
You can relatively quickly grind out two free tabs and also two free bank tabs.

Check the other posts here, nevertheless thanks for supporting the game.
If you feel like spending money, better invest in character slots. After buying shared account bank.
Also the different races (good one on sale right now) and classes are much higher priority.

Don't worry about hoarding stuff, just sell it in the market place so you have money as explained above.
Maybe except for any weapon with the speed enhancement, for faster running.
Any unnamed Mithril armor would be also very handy to hold on to.
It can be upgraded with crafting to be of actual use even at endgame.
>>
>>482481
Yeah, each tavern in Ravenloft has its own teleporter which can send you to any of the quests in its own chain, one of the other taverns, or back to Stormreach.
And unlike the shitty guides in the Forgotten Realms content that require Astral Shards, Ravenlofts' teleporters are completely free.
>>
Which collectibles are even worth hoarding? It seems so far like it all trades for shitty consumables and enchantments I'll outlevel quicker than I can gather the necessary junk.
>>
>>482710
All of them can be used in Cannith Crafting.

Bruised Spore Pod+Amulet of the Six = Strength
Sour Darkcap+Polished Ore = Dexterity
Runic Parchment+Glass Phial = Constitution
Ceramic Bowl+House-Sealed Letter = Intelligence
Singed Soarwood+Silver Flame Hymnal = Wisdom
Romantic Sonnet+Charred Soarwood = Charisma

Blade of the Dark Six+Mark of the Keeper = Deadly
Sour Darkcap+Fragrant Drowshood = Melee Alacrity
Small Planar Crystal+Scholarly Notes = Doublestrike
Singed Soarwood+Moonstone = Combat Mastery
Skull Fragment+Cryptmoss = Sheltering
Glittering Dust+Cryptworm Moss = Dodge

and then a bunch of different spellpower recipes.

How does bank storage and inventory work with reincarnation? As I understand it, you lose your extra favor tabs when you reincarnate. What happens to all the items then? Do I have to pick what I want to keep, do they get locked until I work the favor back up or what?
>>
>>482902
They're put in a reincarnation cache.
I think every account gets a free 12-space collectable storage in their bank; the cache looks just like that except there's no search bar and it's "take out" only.
>>
>>482577
Strikethrough with Two-handers seems sufficient for AOE clear, but mostly I didn't want to have to spam a button. Cleave is great though, the +1Weapon Die might be optimal even.

My guy in Cannith is just level 3 though, did you want to run at level, or should I roll a Vet3 for speed?
>>
>>482902
everything you have gets put into a cache that you can withdraw from. You have to empty said cache each life but it essentially works as a one way storage system

PROs

>Lots of customizations, classic D&D features like Ability scores, feats, multiclassing, etc. Also adds Enhancements which are skill trees that allow further customization of your character.
>Quests are fun, every single one is narrated and acts as a dungeon of various size (some can be one room big and others can be sprawling mazes that take hours to get through). Almost all quests have optional objectives and secrets that reward the player with XP and loot. The whole game is very immersive overall
>Loot and Gear is very cool, many low level items stay relevant forever. Items are not merely +atk or +def, different items are better at different times. Enemies have immunities and weaknesses and you can capitalize on that with your gear and spells.
>Community is very mature and friendly
>A ludicrous amount of content and more content comes out regularly
>A lot of paid content can be earned by playing, you earn DDO points regularly and that can be used for permanent character or account upgrades
>Infinite replayability, the game encourages you to play as every classes and races through the Resurrection system
>>
>>478095
CONs:

>It's dated both graphics and netcode wise, there can be freezes and rubberbanding at time, 99% of the time it's not gonna get you killed but it can be annoying. Not that frequent though.
>Low population, around 2-3k concurrent players at all time
>F2P is very barren, unless you at least pay a sub fee there will be very little content, thankfully it's 10$ a month if you get 3 months at a time
>Cash shop has a lot of pay for convenience

>>483264
Congrats. Would you recommend hardcore to a new player? It seems like it would be amazing fun doing everything blind with a real fear of dying, but the prospect of getting 1 shot by bullshit that requires meta knowledge to avoid is off putting
>>
>>483455
Hmmmm that is a tough question. On one hand, you will have groups to do almost every quest in the game, which will absolutely never happen on a regular server. On the other hand, I typically advise new players to let the group know when they have never done a quest.... but if it is that way for every quest, the party might get worried they have a liability on their hands.
If you are good at following people closely and can look up quests on the wiki very fast to check maps for traps I would say it would be fine for a new player. Just go into it with the expectation that you will die so you aren't disappointed when it happens. If you do die, you can always transfer your dead character to a live server and keep playing them.
>>
THF Paladin is real great for solo, and I've had some decent success with Pale Master too. Any suggestions for other good solo builds with minimal item and stat investments? Inb4 pretty much anything is viable with a hireling
>>
>>483086

right on man, thank you.
>>
>>483455
You're not getting one shot by bullshit on normal difficulty quest runs. Elite on the other hand will likely vaporize you instantly with a failed trap save. Ironically enough, this means soloing is much safer, as groups of vets will be aiming for higher diffs.
Also keep in mind that the game gets serious lag spikes and is fairly buggy. You can get pranked by the server hanging up as you're about to jump over a lava pit or lock yourself in falling animation between boxes and get hit by gorillion crash landing damage.
>>
>>483646
Wizard seems to be brokenly good, can make a copetant gish with just a level 1 spell and proper stat allocation.

The difficulty unlocking system is such a fucking stupid mechanic.
New players jump in and proceed to roflstomp absolutely everything for hours. Then they get bored after effortlessly facetanking their billionth kobold/sahuagin without ever being in any danger. In order to actually get challenged, they have to first die of boredom twice doing normal and "hard". Every single quest they'll ever do. Especially now with the code where there's more stuff to see than you could do in just your first life so you're motivated to never repeat content thrice in a row.
There are two ways around it; one - you either play quests way over your level, which is not only unintuitive (and was impossible at first with Korthos being unskippable) but also not enough, as elite is much harder than underleveled normal; two - you post an LFG, wait two hours for a 30 past life ubertwink to arrive, open it for you and then zerg it as well because why the fuck wouldn't he, surely that's what you were waiting for.
Or the third way, which is monthly $$$. Except you've probably already lost the player before he even considered forking out money.
>>
>>483934
You sound like you either
(1) have run Korthos quite a few times and it is stale to you, or
(2) are trying to level up an alt or favor farmer
From my experience when I was a new player I was happy to solo things on normal and explore, learn, and enjoy the quests. DDO is a really unique game and it took a while for me, at least, to really get in the swing of things versus other MMOs
First life is solo/leading groups on normal and then running with pugs when you find an LFM. If you enjoyed that, second life running on hard isn't a bad idea as you're probably doing new quests, still learning, and don't have a lot of great gear in the bank. Then third life the gates are open and you can open on Elite/Reaper.
I think you might overvalue Elite difficulty for new players. If they are a more hardcore gamer where they want Elite difficulty, then they should be thrilled to get a 30 past life zerger to try and keep up with and learn from them. If they are impatient and want to open Elite right away on a first lifer with their under-geared ass they can pay for it and die trying to solo past harbor lol.
>>
>>483934
>>484015
I agree that difficulty unlocks are pretty aggravating, however I've been running at level stuff on normal and leveling has been fine with the bevy of quests at low level, however I'll have to see how sustainable that is when the quests run out, or how reasonably I can keep going on a class that might not be so good for soloing. I guess there's always hirelings for that.
>>
>>484015
The core of the issue isn't really content getting stale, it's that normal isn't actually normal - it's braindead easy. If you've ever made a single functional D&D build in your life, you straight up can't die, barring getting lagged in a pool of lava. It's like those single player games everyone always bitches about where the devs get the bright idea to lock difficulty behind completion so you slog through on video game journalist mode only to realize you've already seen all the content and don't feel like replaying it again.
Part of the problem is also the enhancement rework and random loot power creep, the majority of old content is very obviously undertuned by now.
>>484029
>when the quests run out
They won't. Redeem the code DDOQUEST2021 if you haven't done so yet, it unlocks all the paid content but three expansions. There's more than enough to get to level 20 on normal and still have untouched quests left for your second life.
>>
with the playerbase so small, how is the solo ability? Will i have a hard time trying to play through all the quests/expansion stories on my own?
>>
>>484175
It is extremely easy to solo, don't worry about that.

Only a very small amount of quests cant be done alone (like 1%)
>>
>>484178
sweet. i know everyone praises the build customization and that is one of DnD's biggest selling points, but how is the writing of the quests? I really only care about the story.

also is there different branches to quests where i can play either evil or good or is it all just you being a typical good guy?
>>
>>484179
If you actually care about the story there is a good chance you will LOVE it. At least the quest chains and expansions. Most players don't read a single line of dialogue and still love the game. I like to try to read everything during my first playthrough and the writing is great IMO. Especially packs like Feywild, it is such a great story and has a bunch of subtle humor in there that most people don't notice. Ravenloft is actually really really sad.
>>
>>484179
You're mostly locked into this "doing the right thing for the right coin" mentality. Your average D&D party, really. Don't expect much roleplay.
Writing varies by quest. There's a lot of "evil necromancer wants more power" played straight, but there's also plenty of silly and intentionally campy dialogue. Deeper characterization is rare. The game is mostly a callback to old dungeon crawling D&D modules, ported to instanced MMO format. Don't expect any Nobel prizes in literature.

The Lair of Summoning (House K Tavern)
The Chamber of Insanity (House K Tavern)
The Forgotten Caverns (House K Tavern)
Ruined Halls (House K Tavern)
The Tear of Dhakaan (House P)
Tharashk Arena (VON 1)
The Prisoner (VON 2)
Gateway to Khyber (VON 3)
Jungle of Khyber (VON 3)
Haywire Foundry (VON 4)

I've ran Kundrak before, I was just lazy and skipped a lot of quest reruns with this character, but now my inventory is getting extra messy and I've got no more excuses to delay the grind.

People seem to like shadar kai a lot. I would just look at them all, maybe check out their past life bonuses, and see which looks best to you :)

Oh, thanks for the tip.
That one wasn't even on my radar.

Got me the Bladeforged, two birds with one stone.
Warforged race and my favorite class in full DPS mode.
Now need to grind up some coins for the 2nd.

Aiming for another two-fer, non-free race + fun class.
Aasimar Scourge and Thiefling Scoundrel are my current top two, but will investigate the kai too.

Post drow.

Still around and able to invite new players to Cannith! The other MMO I play got a big patch last week which is why I haven't been online.
>>
>>493813
How often does the leader log on? Cause we still need that boat upgrade and maybe buff additions.
>>
>>493901
Heck if I know. I'd assume every so often but it seems as if he hasn't been around in a while, or even noticed the thread.

How soul breaking is the grind for "free" reincarnation?
>>
>>496733
It actually isn't that bad considering you have the Lords of Dust quest.
>>
>>496733
Dunno, I have a lot of quests unlocked with codes, I am only really missing Masterminds of Sharn. It would be a lot worse if the game was boring, but I am enjoying my current character, I might make a Human Bard instead of reincarnation tho.
>>
>>496733
Also, I get around 50-100 shard per run on hard difficulty. I think it's managable. Pic ir yesterday's loot in Tomb of Raiyum.

Shiieeeet, 143 tokens for a 49 minute run. Do not be discouraged and stay strong brother.
>>

Ah, well that's not as bad as I thought then.
Even frikken GW2 has much worse grinds than that.
>>
Think I know the answer, but does the shield spell +shield ac bonus stack with a shields ac bonus? Or is it just like the armor bonus and mage armor?
>>
>>499359
Just like with mage armor.
When the description has the same name, it doesn't stack.
That's why there are all these weird bonus types.

if i missed out the free stuff they gave away... can i still have fun in the game?
>>
>>501134
You're kinda screwed out of going f2p to lvl 20 but it's worth going through the starter quests to see if you like it
>>
>>501134
Lots of people made secondary accounts, might be willing to share or sell.
>>
>>501134
It literally was revived today only, bet you missed that again too.
>>
BTW I stupidly got me the
>https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Divine_Vengeance

with the free anniversary coupon code.
Thought it was the best choice for my first life Paladin.
How can I not fuck this one up any more?
Only equip and unlock it at lvl20?
Don't think I can resist when I reach 18, though.

Halp.
>>
>>501617
You chose poorly
You could have had the quiver which gives you 30% run speed
https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Quiver_of_Alacrity
>>
I'm on track to get 5000 favor for the first time, what +5 Tome should I get? Currently Wisdom based Favored Soul, and I'm thinking to do a Dwarf Cleric next. Wisdom makes sense as I enter Epic levels, but Intelligence seems nice to bolster poor cleric skills.
>>
>>502046
If you don't already have it, pick constitution as you always need it and it's going to have a bigger impact than any additional spell points/DC/skill points that you'd get otherwise.
>>
>>502017
Some helpful guys already helped me grind up the horsie and it had such a weird mega negative concentration.
Rest of the stats weren't that helpful for my pala either.

I KNOW I chose poorly, should've gone for one of the LVL20+ weapons instead.
Which are hidden behind the expansion not covered by the free quest code.
Noticed that too late though.
>>
>>502121
Nah the quiver is better as it uses an item slot you won't be using, and can be used from level 1 so you never need to get a speed item otherwise.
It's the most useful for the reincarnation treadmill but if you play paladin I understand why you went for the Holy Avenger

>>501613
guess ill just wait till the next time this happens, if it ever does.
>>
>>502121
the negative concentration is on the Epic quiver, not the level 1 version
the level 1 quiver is amazing because you can't use the horse in quests where movement speed matters most.
>>
>>502121
giyars casted expeditious retreat is a decent source of enhancement movement speed if you don't have the quiver or can't afford the spell slot for casting the spell.
Its generally a lot more convenient to use the quiver but its a total bitch to farm the normal way since it requires running a raid nobody does anymore with really annoying flagging requirements. Its definitely livable without it though, especially if you have access to sprint boosts or have abundant step abilities
>>
>>502116
I'm still deciding, but isn't Con more of a convenience for healers? Unless I wanted to go Dwarf: Throw Your Weight Around, I'm not sure I'd want to go Con at first.
>>
>>502046
I'd say intelligence would be fine considering its universally good for getting some extra skills, and caster/trap DC bonuses. Constitution isn't bad either if you need more health.
>>
>>502183
I always had fun in this game, first played it maybe in 2007 or 2008, even when I didnt have adventure packs or any benefits. If I'd get tired I jut stop playing since there's no dailies that make you fall back much.
>>
>>502434
It depends on what difficulty you're playing but at elite+ you need as much health as possible to avoid being one hit by traps or casters
>>
Anyone here play on Argo? It seems to be the highest population server, other than hardcore.
>>
>>504135
Me, I play on Argonnessen.
>>
Argonessen was the default server in the list, so pretty much everybody new here is there.
I was suggesting to maybe create a favor-grind (& maybe more) guild in here.

What's the difference between DDO and Neverwinter? Why should I play DDO? Is DDO any good or is it just nostalgia goggles?
>>
>>507345
neverwinter is a shitty WoW clone set in forgotten realms
DDO is loosely based on D&D 3.5e rules with a lot of homebrewing
>>
>>507345
Neverwinter is AD&D by name only, actually a decent action MMO but it has gone full pay2win now.
Their content is more than stale and their biggest accomplishment is to consistently delete old content and reuse it in a worse way than before.

DDO is actually quite an action MMO too, but it is much more true to AD&D.
Its biggest problem is the for current times insanely restrictive F2P.
Now that the free coupon code expired, I can't really recommend it anymore, unless you want to sub for a month or 3.
