>>215202ggs!That went about just as I expected
>>215260Thanks for hosting, GGs. Randomly firing off high startup spellcards isn't too smart, you gotta include them in combos. The sliding kick into Master Spark thing you tried would've worked if it hit, but it also comboes off of dial-A.
>>215264Yeah I'll have to go for dial A next time. Every time I had the opportunity my ape brain just went for the only combo he knew.Hopefully I'll figure out how to actually hit you next time too. I didn't find any better than betting on slide kick catching you while you setup your dolls.
>>215269To be fair, it was a good combo.

>>220772Nice matches
>>220871ggs!Remember, you can punish Suwako's nap with a spellcard after she gets out of the floor and Sakuya's j.5b will always lose to Suwako's water attack (It is faster too). Also, be careful with that high jump mash on corner.
>>220930Ggs, fun games>you can punish Suwako's nap with a spellcard after she gets out of the floorA spellcard with invincibility? I think I saw you doing 236b right after that so I wasn't sure if it was safe to throw something out there immediately, but I'll try that outAnd thanks for the advice
>>220944>A spellcard with invincibility? No, she can't block when she comes out of the floor no matter what(this includes her dash, or any skillcard that makes her dive into the floor). she can however, use any skill card to get out of it but she still can't block. Another option is mash or time attacks when the nap spellcard ends, you can notice when it's going to end when the ZZZZ above her hat disappears.

>>227096GGs, and no problem, was fun. That dragon kick keeps messing me especially up at higher levels, the recovery gets a lot better.
>>228479GGI'm not too good at dealing with Suwako pressure.
>>228501ggs!Suwako's pressure is mostly about how to read your opponent's moves, is basically rock paper scissors for both Suwako and her opponent. But, for her basic blockstring try to block 3 hits low when she is in the air kicking, then you can use BE to avoid the bubbles that come next, Suwako can mix the basic blockstring shit after it with a melee attack so be careful with that too. Also, do not try to use Suika's 3a on Suwako that much, even when trying to fish for the 5/2 cost spellcards, because when she gets in the lillypad, the move whiffs.
>>228508>block 3 hits low when she is in the air kickingFug, meant to say>Block the first 3 hits low when she is on the ground then 3 when she is in the air kickingI'm a bit sleepy.
Noob here, no idea if this works but I'm attempting hosting at 73.35.213.1:10800
>>228521Connection failed
>>228525Damn, thanks for checking.
>>228526Sure, you can also use http://netplay.lunarcast.net/check.php to check by the way, in case there's no one around. You just run it while you are hostingBut in the meanwhile you may have to try hosting with autopunch instead
>>228531Might have to. How sketchy is it to use?
>>228533Not at all really, considering it's open source. It's pretty straightforward, just run the game, then ap, select the game's process and click the "Punch" button. The only issue is that the other person needs to run it as well and some people don't wanna go through the hassle of running another program, I guesshttps://github.com/delthas/autopunch
>>228536AlrightRehosting 73.35.213.1:10800 but with autopunch this time
>>228539Okay well it's still not working for some reason. Try launching the game again and running it as administrator this time
>>228541I'm guessing autopunch isn't supposed to immediately close after you click "Punch!"Seems like I'm getting the same error as this guyhttps://github.com/delthas/autopunch/issues/7But with a bit less spam
>>228544>I'm guessing autopunch isn't supposed to immediately close after you click "Punch!"It is. You can tell it's running if the game window's name changes to "[something] + autopunch v0.0.2". Alternatively you can check the debug log mark and try to find the problem I think, it's just that granting it admin rights usually fixes the most common issue. In some rare cases it simply won't work because of router issues or whatever, but I haven't seen that happen too often
>>228545I'll keep messing around with it then, if I think I get it working I'll see who I can trick into trying to connect to me again.
>>228547That's fine. Just to make sure, you tried port forwarding, right? Do you know what the problem is? If it's something like CGNAT then you probably can't do much about it without contacting your ISP, but otherwise it might be simpler to troubleshoot that instead.

>>229459another anon had that problem, i'm not sure how he fixed it, if he did. what does lunarcast say?
>>229450Good games! Sorry, I have to leave suddenly.
>>229509ggs, and np. thanks for playing
>>229459>even if I'm just trying to join someone elsejust joining games should not require anything, not even port forwarding or running autopunch/anything as admin. sounds to me like your router may have some port filtering rules set up. either that or it's some firewall bs.
>>229459You had Sokuroll enabled, right? Also like >>229541 said it may be your firewall, you should check if you have exceptions set for th123.exe.
>>229550I set exceptions for th123, but I don't think I have sokuroll enabled.
>>229782Then that should be it, you can't play with people who are using sokuroll (which is basically everyone) if you don't have it as well so just get it and run it right after launching the game.

>>230937GGs, thanks for humoring a noob like me!Finally got this shit to work an actually try out a real match. Turns out sokuroll just needed to be enabled.I think I like the frog the most, she's got odd moves but they're all really fun.
>>230957ggs!Hope you had fun!>I think I like the frog the mostShe is best girl, a bit tricky to get used to though.
>>230958A lot of fun, kind of confused how the nuclear raven character is supposed to work. I don't know the names of anything but I really have to respect the "slap me away and then hit me with those 2 air-wave rings" technique you consistently got off, good shit.
>>230963>nuclear raven character is supposed to workShe is basically the "stronk character that deals big damage with low effort".All her attacks and spellcards deal high amounts of damage, she is usually a newbie destroyer because she is kind of easy to use against low level players because her damage is insane, later on though she gets overpowered by most of the cast sadly, she is too slow and her spellcards and bullets are easy to graze and avoid.
I'll host some more today and tomorrow, please join.>>230496

>>231252Ggs man, thanks for hostingCool, I'll be around then. I probably need to take a break too anyways so it's good
>>231255I'm back, I can play for an hour or two.
>>231255GG, I definitely overdid it, by the end I was just mashing buttons, time to go to sleep.Apparently I can't do a half-circle reliably, so I guess I'll practice a little tomorrow. What's a good way to use Reimu's spellcards?
>>231507Ggs, thanks for hosting againYou'll probably wanna start using your bombs a bit more often, I noticed how often you keep getting bombs but since you already have 2 of them they just disappear. Defense in this game is extremely hard, and bombs are pretty much the only mechanic that helps you there cause otherwise you have to rely completely on reaction+timing to get out through small gaps. Especially because of how oppressive some characters can get.>>231613>What's a good way to use Reimu's spellcards? The lv 1 card is pretty good for pressure, kinda how I used Ran with Yukari but not quite as versatile because it doesn't cover space as fast (although that doesn't matter in the corner). If you catch me blocking you can use it immediately afterwards to get me in even more blockstun and hopefully get a guard crush because it does a ton of spirit damage. The lv 2 is amazing for everything really, but you should probably spend it only when you are sure I'll be forced to block or take a hit. If you react fast enough to an attack (especially counterhits in this game) you can very easily combo into it for like 3k damage.
>>231618So basically I just have to cast it faster, and use it after confirming a hit. I guess I'll watch some tournament replays. Are other cards any good at all, I really like how flashy they look, but I never managed to use them successfully even against bots.
>>231624>So basically I just have to cast it faster, and use it after confirming a hitYea basically start hitconfirming into it more consistently. The lv2 card could technically be good in neutral too honestly but it's more of a gamble whether you can tell where I'll try to escape and hit me out of it into the orb. Not really the best way to use meter when it has so many uses.>Are other cards any good at allThe first one deals some stupid damage and spirit damage, but it's much harder to confirm into. It's very usable, but considering how long the startup is you probably need to be able to react to a counterhit or sacrifice a bomb to combo into it. The damage could make it worth it though. The light pillar thing can be a decent reversal I guess but otherwise it sucks.
>>231639What would be a good way to use bombs?I guess when I'm stuck blocking in a corner, or before activating a spellcard, maybe some combos.Anything else? Can I use it from block, is it instant? Thanks for playing with me, really appreciate it.
>>231642>What would be a good way to use bombs? They have tons of uses. Defensively you can use them to fend off an opponent when you need some space, for example on wake up or when you want to declare. Of course if you get too obvious with your intentions the other person will block them and then you are fucked because you just lost half of your defensive resources, so maybe saving them for the very last moment is probably not a very good idea since it's obvious you desperately want to declare your spellcardThey can also be used during blockstun actually, so if there's a string that may look very hard to get out of normally you can just bomb out. You need to be precise though cause once you start doing the 22 motion you'll stop blocking, so if you are not fast with it you may get it before the bomb even comes out. Multihit moves are usually the safest attacks to bomb out of but not every character has/uses those. And this is not a completely safe answer either, some characters (i.e Alice) simply don't care about your bombs because they can pressure you from a completely safe distance. You probably have to learn when its safe to bomb out of strings by experience but seriously fuck IaMP Alice. And some characters use bombs to extend combos as well. Actually all of them can but some don't get as much mileage out of them while for others it's a a pretty big part part of their damage output. I don't really know much about Reimu combos so I can't really tell you that, but the wiki should have that information so check it out if you want to see bomb combos (and just Reimu combos in general)
>>231658The ones I've seen are kind of horrible to execute, so I just used single hits and bullets.Reimu sort of feels lacking in terms long combos or pressure against block.I really like how she plays though, so I'll try to come up with something.I guess I'll also bomb a lot, until I figure out how to use them.Wasting bombs is no big deal, if I wouldn't have used them regardless. This game is really great, I feel like I can understand what's going on, and there's a lot of options for me to use, even if I completely lack any mechanical skill. I don't think other fighting games are like that.
>>231642Also something I forgot in >>231658. Bombs are used a lot to cover yourself when you notice you have overextended. For example, if you go for an instant guard crush and it gets blocked correctly, it's not rare for people to use bombs immediately to cancel recovery. You won't get any combos or any damage and your turn is essentially over, but it's used to prevent a much worse punish after a move with great recovery has been blocked.>>231660>Wasting bombs is no big deal, if I wouldn't have used them regardless.Funny enough some characters give a stupid amount of bombs so you probably won't run out of them anyways, at least not for long. And Reimu is pretty strong in the air particularly, she has amazing corner carry capability and decent damage in general. She's not an easy character though so you'll probably have to practice the most common strings for a little while. Some of them have slightly simpler variants, so that should be enough to get started without having to immediately dive into the difficult combos. Also, rollcaster has some pretty neat tools for practice, you can set the ai to jump and block or whatever combination you need. It's pretty handy. But yes this game is surprisingly straight forward to get into, considering how complex it can get. The mechanics are really simple to grasp but it requires some really strong fundamentals
>>231896Good games, sorry for the short set.
>>231939ggs, np and nice sakuya

I'm back, will host for a couple hours>>230496
>>232230GG, I tried changing controls around, and it didn't go so well, I guess I'll try practicing more against bots.I think I really like fantasy seal.
>>232365GgsFantasy Seal seems to be pretty good on wake up, cause I'm almost forced to block it because of that weird input buffer mechanic that doesn't let me just hold 8D and high jump away as soon as I wake up. Try experimenting with that if you plan on using it, something like setting up a barrier on top of me and cancelling into Fantasy Seal to get as much spirit damage as possible on wake up, seems like it would come pretty close to a full crush>I guess I'll try practicing more against botsIf you are gonna do that then try using the booster option in rollcaster instead, the default cpu can be pretty shitty even for fighting game cpu standards. Also in general cpus won't teach you much about playing neutral or defense (although maybe they can teach you to hold block and don't panic mash) because they play very differently. Although they are still pretty good to practice combos or hitconfirming in general, since that's something that only requires a moving target that's threatening to attack you as well. So you should probably focus on that and other more technical stuff like movement, setups, etc, in that case
The game seems to recognize the buttons on my controller but not the dpad itself - how do I go about configuring my input settings? Nothing in particular stands out in the game menu nor in the install folder.

Anyone soku or iamp
>>233732IaMP109.251.204.44:7500
>>233778Ggs, I'll take a break now, thanks for hostingAlso, as a rule of thumb you probably shouldn't try blocking Sakuya's World, cause if I don't fuck up my setup then it is a guaranteed guard crush. I usually try to throw bullets before activating it to force you to block, but if the blockstun wears off or you graze those bullets then you are much better off buffering a high jump in any direction or a dash forward. At least I'll have to guess where you'll try to escape, and if I don't then you'll get away without taking any damageIf I don't pull it off correctly then blocking is technically safe, but you'd have to know how those setups look like to tell if I'm messing up or not
>>233890GG, I wasn't able to play for a couple of days, and it shows, I got completely destroyed for a first dozen rounds.I'll tell you a funny story:When I started playing Touhou games, I found it much easier to move left than right, because my ring finger feels really sluggish and unresponsive, compared to the other two.I'm sure normal people deal with this somehow, but I decided to play Touhou by using just two fingers: index finger only presses up, and thumb alternates between other three buttons. You may think this is pure insanity, but I somehow managed to beat most extra stages, and a couple of games on hard. And now I have no experience moving with arrow keys, and struggle with basic shit like doing a half-circle. I hope it gets better eventually. Also is there any point in spamming bullets against Sakuya, or should I focus entirely on defense?
>>233900>Also is there any point in spamming bullets against Sakuya, or should I focus entirely on defense? At least with Reimu, between her fA bullets, C, and the 236 amulets (which you should probably use a bit more in general because they are pretty amazing) you should be fine, probably even more so than at melee range. The only thing you have to watch out for is my own fA which is good for sniping. You have to be pretty careful to not self-crush with all those bullets though
>>233914I noticed how most of the time you have no spirit left, when playing Yukari, but I can't really exploit this, because you're always attacking.I kind of fold under pressure and start running away, I really should try using more bullets. Also you often start your attack by jumping at me, would using dp kick be a good idea? Is it better than just doing 2B?
>>233922Sometimes I'll self-crush with Yukari when I use Ran because I'm looking for a mutual crush although most other times I just self crush because I get carried away by my button mashing. When that happens, I lose the ability too set up bullet cover and cancel command normals. That means I can't cancel my 6a/6b (parasol and stopsigns) anymore, so that's when you should counterattack and start exploiting my guard crush (or just high jump and escape). Also I don't know much about Reimu's 623 but according to the wiki it's not a great anti air. It doesn't graze either so if I jump in with bullet cover (which is most of the time) it'll probably be a trade at best. Honestly I just prefer catching jump ins with 5a (or 6d 5a if I can catch someone setting up bullet cover) because it is a much lower commitment, although to be fair I can combo my 5a into like 2k+ damage and I don't know if Reimu can do the same. But Reimu's 5a is a bit similar to Sakuya's in terms of frame data so I imagine it could work to catch jumps at the very least.>Is it better than just doing 2B?I'd imagine they are about the same, I'd still pick 2B because it is much easier to time because it doesn't require a dp input. and it's not like her dp is particularly good anyways.

>>234656That's fine, hosting now190.117.182.170:10800
>>234660Good games, anon. Thanks for the matches. It's been almost a decade since I've last played, sorry for being shit tier, I forgot all of my combos, but most importantly, I completely forgot how to play neutral in this game. It was good getting a lesson on Okuu again, she used to be my old main.
>>234680Ggs man, was fun. I could notice you were slowly remembering things thn cause you somehow improved a whole lot in just a few gamesAnd honestly I've yet to learn a ton of things about Okuu as well. It's just that furiously mashing 4A somehow saved me one too many times
>>234680Oi, I'm hella new to soku and could use matches - let me know when you're around again! If you need me to host I can try my luck with autopunch.
>>234807Sure, I can do a few rounds.
GGs, damn you're scary.
>>234819ggs, thanks for playing. i'm not, suwako scares me though
AoCF is coming to switch but what about having a working netplay
>>234823ggs, thanks for playing
>>234879Good games!
>>234824>won't even be able to use the netplay fan patchBack to the era with constant softlocks and unplayable frame rate, I guess.
>>234897>netplay fan patchThere is no such a thing
>>234899The lunarcast netplay patch isn't an official patch.
>>234901Does that shit actually helps? It's not rollback. Also where do people get pirate AoCF? It says that patch doesnt works with the steam version.
>>234933Yes, it really does. I think you underestimate just how atrocious AoCF's native netcode is. First of all it's unplayable most of the time. And I don't mean it as in "it feels terrible to play in", I mean literally unplayable, the game straight up softlocks while attempting to connect to other people most of the time so you don't even get to attempt to play. And even when you finally manage to connect to someone else, there's this really bizarre design choice that for whatever the fuck reason hard caps the delay frames at ~2f. If the ping is literally any higher, instead of increasing the frame delay it just decides to tank your fps instead to make up for the latency, so now it also becomes figuratively unplayable as well. Vanilla AoCF (and by extension HM and ULiL) might very well have the single worst fighting game netcode I've seen in the past decade. It makes Smash Bros' netcode and its inherent 5f delay look like GGPO in comparison. The patched version at least feels like decent delay based netcode, so you are able to play with people within your region and maybe other regions that are reasonably close. So yes, while it's not rollback the leap from vanilla AoCF to patched AoCF is probably still as huge as the leap from regular delay based netcode to some basic rollback netcode. That's how bad things were (and are probably still gonna be when the Switch version is released). Also you can download it on moriyashrine, but I think they only have version 1.10d and last I checked people were playing 1.19 beta4 now so you'd probably have to get that patch from tasofro's website.
>>234946>1.10d>1.19 beta4Does this beta has character/system changes or just bugfixes
>>235500There are a ton of system mechanics/balance changes from 1.10 to 1.19beta, but the recent beta updates are mostly bug fixes.

>>235720timed out, did you stop hosting?
>>235743I'll rehost now
>>235744I'll try to connect again, it's dropping too many frames for some reason
>>235720Ggs, thanks for hosting
>>235748GG, thanks for the games, I think I'll do better once I figure out how exactly to block your string, does it have any obvious openings?Should I just stand there and get guard-crushed? It seems less bad, than whatever I'm doing.
>>235829>once I figure out how exactly to block your stringWhich string/character? In general you don't always have to look for openings to counter attack. Sometimes finding a little gap to graze out (usually just high jump, or forward dash if you are Alice/Marisa/Remi) allows you to get back to center stage which is already pretty good. Hell, against a character like Alice in particular that's literally your only option because there is absolutely no way to counterattack her from the corner. So in general that's just something you might wanna get used to, if you aren't able to find gaps large enough to mash outIf you are talking about Sakuya specifically, then I'm pretty sure you can escape pretty easily after a 6b, or maybe even 6a if my timing isn't tight enough, by buffering a high jump. If you don't react in time and you get hit by the knives you'll have to take the reset though, because that's an easy frame trap if you attempt to high jump or do anything, so if you miss your opportunity you are better off holding block until you find another one, or attempting to bomb the knives if you are running very low on spirit. Also I just remembered I barely ever saw you cancelling bullets. You probably already know this but you can cancel bullets on the ground by high jumping and in the air by airdashing. Depending on the bullet they may have different cancel windows, but you probably wanna get used to how to cancel all of your bullets because that's a core part of playing from a long distance without getting sniped all the time. And also you can chain normal bullets into specials like 236a, and then cancel that special again, and pretty much all sorts of combinations of that. Getting comfortable with that should help you struggle less at that distance.

hey vm i wanna play soku but i can't because 0xc00007b cucks meI've tried reinstalling different Microsoft Redistribuables, several DirectX, followed the instructions folder on Soku's folder, tried Compatibility Mode, but nothing worksWhat do?
>>2411750xc00007b related errors are always a huge pain in the ass. Do you have a shitty laptop or some other second computer lying around you could use to test things?
>>241194i imported soku from my previous laptop which was on W8, it worked there
>>241208installing both x86 and x64 redistributables worked for me on a fresh w10 install, i may have also updated .net framework

>>242134ggs!You got a lot better at abusing Alice control against the frog, I wish she wasn't such a Suwako hard counter.
>>242134GGs, that was the best. I was waiting to try and punish Suwako's nap ever since you posted about it last month.>>242195I always thought it was Suwako that hard countered Alice purely because an elevated lowblock completely destroys her ability to do ground combos. I'll trust your years of experience though
>>242204Alice control fucks Suwako hard, she can have the whole map full of bullets and some of Suwako's bullets are too slow or get blocked by the dolls, basically any character that can control the stage hard counters Suwako. Also, the dolls can block Mishaguji sama for some unholy reason
>>242206>spoilerI gotta try it
>>242994me
What's it gonna be /vm/? Low block and I'll slurp your arm pits. High block and I'll crush your nuts. There is no escape from the punishment you deserve.

>>245378>what can I improve?Try to learn Reimu's BnB and blockstrings, avoid the zoning battle against Reisen (at least with Reimu), Reisen has the best chip damage of the whole roster so be careful with her heavy bullets, always check her shadow is when she is invisible or using a clone skill, be careful with your reversals and DPs.>how did I play so far?You were doing fine actually, but you panicked a lot.Just practice more, Reimu can be a bit difficult to use against characters with better bullets.

>>246109>set trying to piss you offI didn't even notice, if you are trying to piss me off use Alice or Iku when I'm using my main. That always works.
>>246110well the random jobbing and dumb meme reads were my answer to reisen's annoying illusion bullshit. I should probably play more seriously but I don't have the energy right now it seems.
>>246111to actually be constructive, a lot of my DP nonsense could be baited and punished. You did adapt a little which is good, but I was able to get a few too many spell card confirms off of it. Maybe you could find more mixups for your block strings, and be very careful about just bulleting whenever you're just out of melee range. (Read my hand too, I'm much more likely to do risky shit when I have a card to cancel into.) Overall your Reisen is pretty good though. If you figure out how to deal with these things more consistently then you'd have easily won every round.
>>246116I did not ask for tips but ok.> a lot of my DP nonsense could be baited and punishedI was playing risky because I had the advantage most of the time.>Maybe you could find more mixups for your block stringsIf you noticed, I wasn't trying to keep you on the wall, I was just spamming 236b/c for the big dick chip damage.>and be very careful about just bulleting whenever you're just out of melee rangeThat's an awful tip for Reisen of all characters, Reisen's bullets stop for some moments in the air and limit the opponent movements.>Read my hand too, I'm much more likely to do risky shit when I have a card to cancel intoI did, but it was not necessary. You were the absolute madman with all the cards but I'm used to it.>then you'd have easily won every round.I stopped caring about getting better long time ago, I just play for fun
>>246109>>246132Damn, you're a passive aggressive little bitch. You shouldn't play fighting games if your ego is that fragile.
>>246256I was complimenting his Youmu even, he is probably the strongest in the thread but jobbed hard in these matches, then he started to talk shit.Is a bit insulting when the guy that lost 90% of the matches tells you that you don't know how to play and in top of that gives you wrong advice.

>>247386GG, did you get better or have I completely forgotten how to block?I thought I'd unlearn everything after not playing for 2 weeks, glad it's not as bad as I thought.I feel like my Reimu vs Sakuya is hopeless, unless I can take back initiative somehow, I'll practice spamming bullets.
>>247389Funny enough i think you actually blocked more complete blockstrings this time around, it's just that the only option you picked afterwards was mashing normals pretty much every single time. Honestly you should consider simply just high jumping/escaping out sometimes instead of trying to counterattack every time. Defense in this game is stupidly hard, against most characters you only get a handful of frames to time your escape option without getting hit out of it (it can even be a near frame-perfect window). So trying to get a move out once, let alone all the time, is already pretty hard if it's not after a failed guard crush attempt or after grazing bullets. And if you are confident that you have found a window to mash out of a blockstring, you'll probably have to be more careful about what move you pick. Reimu 2A in particular is kinda bad on whiff and also it is really prone to getting counterhit by Sakuya 6B/Remi dash into literally everything. If you really wanna mash out at point blank you might wanna try 5A instead, it's much faster and doesn't get you murdered for whiffing. You are fine mashing 6B with Yuyuko though, it's literally the only option she has.>I feel like my Reimu vs Sakuya is hopelessTo be fair I think its considered pretty bad for Reimu in general
