Who wants to wing up and hunt down reddit-tards? these dumb fags post their favorite mining spots and fuck it up for everyone else.
So let's turn their extration sites HAZARDOUS
>>
Fuck yes.
>>
CMDR* o7

o7
>>
This is ridiculous, I'm around 4k ly away from the bubble, not close to any nebula, not on a route to anything interesting and out off 10 star systems I go through, 9 has been visited before. I'm starting to think it's the route planning algorithm that greatly favors some systems over the others.
>>
>>170749
Yesterday I was the first person to discover a system less than 1k from the bubble
>>
This game is too complicated for me.
t. retard
>>
So I was playing the tutorial and I reached a point where they asked me to go to the combat pactice zone. When I got there, my ship stopped and now I can't move. I have no more objectives and the retard who was explaining shit to me doesn't talk either. Are all space sims this buggy or is it just Scam Citizen and this one?
>>
>>170826
Only multiplayer space sims are this buggy. Which amounts to these two.

Try the X series or freespace or wing commander or starsector if you want a less shitty experience (that will be single player only). People tolerate these magnanimous piles of shit because they are the only multiplayer experiences in the genre (and EVE, but that is more of a debt simulator)
>>
>>170826
It's a space sim. Figure out which element of the simulation led to your problem. Fuel? Hardpoint deployment exceeded powerplant capacity? Thruster deactivation? Take a look at the Modules tab.

>>170835
Elite is not matched by any of these.
>>
I got filtered by this game.

>redeemed it for free on epic
>friend got me hyped to play it
>annoyed by having to make an account
>annoyed by email verification to sign in
>annoyed by lengthy setup, bullshit about generating planets and such
>annoyed with all the choices on choosing my ship when I don't even know the difference between them
>annoyed by the attempt of a slow-paced tutorial that I promptly skipped because holy shit the guy talking to me was taking his sweet-ass time showing me the ropes.
>annoyed by how fucking long it takes to actually get sent out into space
>FINALLY OUT IN SPACE, see a planet ahead of me and somehow holding W with thrusters fully engaged I cannot ever approach the planet. It's like it's so close, yet always out of reach
>Start shooting my lasers "NO FIRE ZONE, YOU HAVE BEEN FINED 100CR"
>Annoyed and bored to tears, I turn around and start shooting the space station looking for something fun to do.
>They shoot me down instantly, I didn't see any police ships or anything. I had no opportunity to engage them in combat, I just died and spawned back into the ship docking bay

then I turned off the game. maybe this game is good, but I'm just not in the mood for a slow game like this. I'm sure I'm going to get mocked and told I have ADHD. I just really have no attachment for this game I got for free, I just wanted to have fun RIGHT NOW.
>>
>>170837
>muh simulation
I'm telling you, it was during the tutorial. The problem is that the guy who was explaining shit should have kept guiding me through the combat practice but his dialogue never came through so I was stuck. I wasn't out of fuel, the game itself was preventing me from moving.
>>
>>170840
Press auto-undock, press 1, find Resouce Extraction site or a Nav Beacon. Press Space. Fuck off from the station. Press J. In warp, select the supercruise assist on the same destination. When you arrive, click once and press T until a red WANTED appears. Shoot.
>>
>>170842
Then just reset the tutorial.
>>
>>170837
Elite is objectively a worse game than any of those. Less features, less robust simulation, less interesting story.
>>
>>170840
>adhd underage

>>
>>170840
This is the zoomiest of posts. Don’t blame you, tho, modern games are too easy and demand too little brain power. Thus, you simply have not been prepared for this. To be honest, the game isn’t that great even if you have the patience to learn it.
>>
How the fuck do I turn off FA without maintaining the fucking key. No matter if I use toggle or maintain in the config menu, this shit stays the fucking same.
>>
>>170851
Mine toggles. Dunno what is wrong with yours. Try turning it on and off and make sure it’s saving your new configuration (this game will sometimes refuse to save changes to your options)

5000 hours in game talking
>>
>>170877
I’ve played the game for two weeks. So, about 40-ish hours? Dunno, I’m not playing on steam so I don’t have a convenient tracker. It’s just a trading game, man. But with really nice graphics and no automation features.
>>
My gripe with the game is how much work unlocking and using engineers is and how mandatory they are. Just spent 30+ minutes shooting at a fucking NPC eagle with lasers and cannons. I don’t want to go through that again, but I also don’t want to go through hours and hours of grind. Fuck, if NPCs at least had info on how far above spec their engineering is or something.
>>
>have crew member that requires constant % of my profits even when she's doing absolutely nothing (muh bills)

>thrusters fully engaged I cannot ever approach the planet
Yeah it sucks that we don't have FTL drives in addition to our thrusters.
>I just died and spawned back into the ship docking bay
Wouldn't you go to space jail for attacking a starport?
>>
are robigo passanger missions still a thing for biotech cond/exquisite crystals or is it fucked now?
>>
>>171019
Still a thing, unless the job board is borked from all the excessive players.
>>
>>170840
You should really do the tutorial.
>>
I don't really get this game. I played for a few hours, did some delivery missions. It just feels like euro truck simulator except you travel through featureless empty space and all the driving is done for you. What am I missing?
>>
>>170840
the game is completely automatized so you fuckers dont blast themselves on some random planet and you still fuck it up

Im a Freelancer old school boomer and got it through epic and im fucking loving it, its extremely comfy as a game, it may not have an endgoal but freelancer didn't either

Supercruise Assist was a mistake.
>>

Even without supercruise assist all you have to do is press S every now and then to throttle down. It's still just going to-and-fro spaceports through a bunch of empty nothingness. So far, at least.

supercruise was a mistake. It needed more interactivity. Like using planets to slingshot or stellar winds to navigate or something.

Elite is like the poster child for sandbox games. There's really no wrong way to play and if you speedrun credits you just end up in a bigger ship you don't know how to use.
>>
>>171378
There is a wrong way to play - doing anything that you consider fun and is not meta. Imagine spending 200 hours, having fun your way and still being stuck in a Cobra, basically making you a turkey to shoot in PvP.

You might enjoy yourself for an hour or two, but you will soon realize, that you are wasting time instead of making money.

Example: OPs idea - half the time you'll get blasted by Redditards cause they got engineered ships, or they just combat log... Or you won't be able to find anyone, because the online is shit and most people play in single or in private groups.

This game went to shit as soon as it went into gamma testing because of the grind-orientation and devs failing to make the background simulation to actually work and instead posting baked-in events to induce hype.

Trying to get into elite but outside of spending 20 minutes+ just to get to a destination only to GRIND, what else is there?

I like a competitive pvp atmosphere, but if it's meta as fuck then no thanks. And I mean like, if no other weapons are viable other than LOL GET ANACONDA KINETIC AND PULSE

Idk it's been a while since I played.
>>
if I didn't like the tutorial am I going to like this game?
>>
>>171603
The game has a lack of bigger sized weapons and variants. While being somewhat hard to manage ammo on longer engagements.
I've seen pvp fight videos where they just end because one of them ran out of ammo without even bringing down shields and they just high wake out.

Things like torpedoes that have concept art of bigger variants instead of just 2-4 tubes for class 2-3. I swear there used to be a trailer for the game with an anaconda at some point shooting out a big torpedo sideways like a battleship, I'll try to look for it.

Thing about E:D was, the longer I played it, the more butthurt everyone seemed to get.
Most players have retreated to solo/private because the only people left in Open are
>newbies
>cheaters/griefers
>the guy with 8000 hours in game with a shieldless Cutter who will combat log as soon as you look at him
The game was flawed from the start with the multiple modes. Whenever things aren't working out, FD's excuse is "just use private mode." There's 0 motivation to engage with other players or fix issues with the online mode.
With the new update coming out, there will likely be the same issues, just on foot in an FPS game. You probably still won't be able to find other players and people will just seek out exploits to get higher tier equipment to grief other players with. Then everyone will just fuck off into solo/private again.
I don't even consider E:D to be a multiplayer game anymore.

All that being said, if reddit tards are still stupid enough to post their position in Open while doing anything other than PvP, feel free to wreck their shit.

why would ever you try to pvp in elite? there is no replay feature, no balancing, no casts, if i ever wanted to pvp i would just play a strategy game
>>
>>171641
cont.
i think there is a difference between pvp and competitive, i think pvp in elite is fine, the stakes are low most of the time, it can be for roleplay purposes and just fun

competitive in the other hand seems like a pointless thing to do in elite, meaning grinding for an entire top tier pvp build just to be the most competitive person in elite seems pointless, its as stupid as being competitive on dwarf fortress or speed running it, like are you even having fun with the game at that point? better competitive games are strategy and fighting games (as they are 1v1 and have casts and replays)
>>
problem with pvp in games now is that everyone takes it so fucking seriously. Like trying to play a pickup game of basketball and everyone who shows up acts like they're in the NBA.
>>
>>171655
PvP used to be fun because you could mess people up and they saw it as a risk of playing the game. Its insane how safe people want to be when the game includes pvp mechanics.
>>
>>171652
this is very true.
I think "PvP" as a term gives the wrong impression that its about balanced competitive play. The older terms of PK vs PKK was more accurate but more convoluted to explain.
>>
>>171662
I think most people don’t care about being safe so much as being able to defend themselves. Due to engineering, you can’t out turn or defeat a ship that has been grinded harder than yours, even if you are the better pilot or if your ship should looks better equipped. So, people gravitate towards avoiding said bullshit, and the best way to do so is by not playing open. I’m willing to bet people were more likely to play open before they were added.
>>
>>171670
This. I played exclusively in open before engineering fucked the balance.
>>
>>171655
It also happens on real sports too
For example my friends who used to play soccer think they are CR7 by playing some shitty match on the streets
I think its because of the identity crisis people go through 20-30
>>
>>171363
If you have fun exploring then you win because there's a ton of places to see, other people can't stand it and want to kill everything that moves and they win too because the game easily allows it. Elite has something for all kinds of autists. Don't worry about meta bs but do worry about the grind to get the things you will want such as a grade 5 FSD and Guardian FSD booster to help you get further.
>>

>>
>>171739
That's pretty much what I did shortly after I started. Flew all the way out to Colonia too and stayed there for a few months. Then I flew back to the bubble because I still needed to unlock more engineers.
>>
>>171670
Im not sure I understand. Its not a competitive shooter. You have to out prep your potential enemies. Avoid people you can't fight, fight those you are most likely to beat. This is Art of War 101.

Just playing started playing this, it's quite comfy and i didn't hit the grindwall yet.
Is it normal to wait 10 min each time to dock somewhere ? i alt-tab thinking it would autodock me like in the tutorial but it didn't and had to waste another 10 min for queing.

So how's everyone's day been? Mine's been a solid gank/10.
>>
>>172327
No that's not normal. The sheer number of new players flooding the new player zone has resulted in traffic jams.
You can manually enter or leave the port anytime if you have clearance. Just don't crash into anyone.

These server issues are getting really annoying. Thinking about just dropping the game outright for the time being since I'm getting booted once every hour or two. How long do you reckon it'll take for all these epicbabs to get bored and quit?
>>
>>172514
I don't see any server issues since it's a pseudo-MMO and not a real one
If you're taking super long entering/exiting hyperspace and ships around you are teleporting, it's because either a BR HUEHUE or a Russian player from Novosibirsk on 56k modem is the host
>>
>>172517
No, I mean I'm getting kicked from the game outright and having it suddenly close on me after some cryptic error message comes onscreen about my account not being "available". Whatever the hell that's supposed to mean

I found a controller is the most comfy, good for flying/docking/landing and excellent for SRV dicking
Altough for combat and special missions it is best to get one with paddles you can set for keyboard commands so you can have chaff and heatsinks at your fingertips.
Xbone Elite 2 is a good one with Rewasd, but if you can live with switching firegroups then the regular Xbone controller is a baller. Get (or print yourself) a set of stick extenders for better control.

Real life Universe is a fractal hologram too, a densified thought/idea. The wave-particle duality means nothing outside the conscious observer exists except as a probability. Also, there is one consciousness split into all living beings at once. So real life is the ultimate "instancing" as well. And still, it only opens doors to ultimate amazement.

Also, instances change appropriately when in normalspace. Try manual dropping 100s of km's outside a starport and boost towards it - it will appear as normal.
It would be nice to supercruise to another system though, but one can dream.

I wish they'd make CQC actually rewarding so more people played it. It really is a lot of fun. I'd play it as a standalone game.
>>
>>173651
Getting yourself to Elite in CQC nets you as much money as does selling 10 (ten) void opals
>>
>>173651
they should tie the ranks of each of the four trades to cosmetic rewards. If the 10,000 viewers in the twitch stream yesterday means anything then the new epic players would flock to CQC if it meant unlocking new paint jobs and lights.
>>
>>173659
Another good idea I read was CQC should award rare materials and data, instead of just making it another credit grind.

>>173662

>>
>>173744
bro just get a thermal vent turreted beam laser and enjoy constant 2% heat like everyone else

Clean drives are actually hotter than both unmodded and dirty while not under active thrust, because of the larger passive power draw.
>>
CQC is like... competitive dogfighting? how it does work
>>
>>173741
It lasts until you refuel. That includes even the briefest use of a fuel scoop.
>>
>>173776
It's fighter combat in an arena with asteroids, structures and powerups. All virtual, so your own ships aren't in any danger.
>>
>>173776
It's deathmatch / team deathmatch with the smallest, lightest fighters in the game. All three of the ship-launched microfighters, the eagle, and the sidewinder. Loadouts are unlockable presets with some customization. You make a small amount of credits that transfers to your main character and you get CQC rank, but that's it.

I wish they'd implement it into the game better, like making the CQC Arena a station you can dock to join matches or something. They should also add some sort of competitive, low risk PVP arena for larger ships.
>>
>>173592
I use AMD RX 580
For me the PWA bug didn't seem as bugged but its because i used to actually go circles around some point so i could always see stones i checked before and got them scanned when i was going past them

I saw the PWA was really bugged because recently i started mining backwards, meaning im floating going backwards and scanning with my ass and checking the stones flying past me, while doing that i got many more stones scanned and some of them were clearly core's one because of the black color range, meanwhile before it was something of pure sheer luck if i found one going circles

The pwa bug isn't related to your card nor is it bugged to only scan behind you. The pwa currently only highlights rocks that are obscured from you when you start the scan. Don't fall into the same trap as I did thinking a joystick would create more immersion. Joysticks don't offer the seamless six degrees of freedom control you get from mouse + KB IMO. It's just not efficient.

The joystick will do pitch, yaw and roll but won't really do up/down, left/right, forward/reverse thrust well. Maybe full hotas is better in that regard than what I have but IMO not worth the money, just set up a nice control scheme that's intuitive to use for you on m+kb. That's probably for the best.
>>
>>173904
There are some throttles with enough sticks on them for seamless use of every possible axis but what you really want for a space sim is a double stick setup. It's fukken nice brah

i got about 300mil and i wanna bounty hunt
which ship should I get? Preferably a combat centric ship so the builds are easier
>>
How long would this game take to get into if I wanted to become a solo bounty hunter type person?
>>
>>174163
Federal Assault Ship and Alliance Chieftain are both good ships to start bounty hunting at that price range, they're not very expensive and both are really good for PvE and since they share the same size internals you can try both of them without spending that much extra money, personally I love the Chieftain but I flew a FAS for a long time, she's a really good ship.
>>174168
Not long, you can start bounty hunting pretty early if you want to and know how to pick your targets(npc combat rank matters) but most people wait until they have enough money to buy a Vulture, I was a bounty hunter since the beginning and my combat ship progression was Eagle Mk II -> Viper Mk III -> Diamondback Scout(surprisingly good for combat) -> Vulture -> Federal Assault Ship -> Python, just keep in mind that bounty hunting currently doesn't pay very much(balance coming soon) so it will be a slow progression but Imo you shouldn't be worried about that, I think its better to take your time learning the game and enjoying every ship than rushing to get the big ones before trying combat, I certainly had a lot of fun with the smaller ships.
>>
>>174186
>bounty hunting at that price range
With 300 mil he can buy any ship in the game, can't he? The most expensive ship being the imperial cutter at ~200 mil.
Why not go with the Krait MK2 or or something else like that?

>>
>>174192
A rated Krait Mk2 is 180mil+, Alliance Chieftain and FAS are around 80mil each and they're good for learning and getting good at combat.
(A rated Imperial Cutter is around a billion credits btw)

FAS and Chieftain are good options I have a Chieftain that I exclusively use for Conflict Zones and Hazardous RES, its a very fun gunship.

I just don't want to fill up my cargo hold with commodities that the game tells me will turn a good profit in a certain market, only to arrive at that market and find that I literally cannot even fucking sell them. I don't want to alt-tab out of the game and go look up a fan-made website just to avoid having to go off information that is total bare-faced lies.

I like space games, and I'm not a zoomer. Is this game worth checking out? What's comfy about it? Does it get boring? What does it do well vs not do well?
>>
>>174398
>I like space games, and I'm not a zoomer.
cool
>Is this game worth checking out?
yes
>What's comfy about it?
explorin' minin' and truckin'
>Does it get boring?
yes
>What does it do well
some things
>vs not do well?
a lot of things
>>
>need reinforced mounting plates for guardian tech
>eddb tells me there is only one station with a large landing pad selling them but it's fine because it has a supply of 360
>get there
>there are only 15
>I need 21
>10 minutes pass and station resets
>doesn't get any more mounting plates
this is what i get for being too lazy to go back for my medium ship

Bonus points if they also recommend that faggy mobius shit too.

Holy shit, deep core is fun again!
I fixed the PWS, it is so simple!
>>
>>174441
I cracked 3 eggs in 15 minutes, and don't have to do the flipping dance routine!
>>
>>174442
Wow, looks like VO tanked hard as well. At least the mining is fun again.
>>
>>174345
>I literally cannot even fucking sell them
Lol, that only happens with contraband cargo, literally learn to use the menus
>>
>>174441
>>174442
What, did they increase the frequency of core roids?
>>
>>174448
No just the PWS works again. When you pop into the hotspot, stop and reboot. That's it, rocks are lighting up in front again. When in doubt later just reboot again.
>>
>>174454
>>174448
i ended up learning how to look for fissures in rocks with visible surface deposits, also for some reason the rocks that have core seem to have a similar shape
>>
>>174463
That's because for each ring type there is only one model of asteroid that can have cores. Once you've mined enough that you can recognize it from every angle core mining goes much faster even with the broken pwa

One thing I really hate about ships in this game is the fact that so many of them are disgusting pancakes. I'd rather fly an ugly brick any day compared to the pancakes. Fuck the asps, fuck the krait, and fuck the sidewinder. Plus any others I don't bother to think about.
>>
>>174474
Start flying them, those are some of the best in the game apart from the Asp Scout, the ugly retarded brother of the Explorer
>>
>>174474
a pancake makes a lot of sense while building a ship
do you hate the ayylmaos aesthetic too?
you would rather fly a ugly brick probably because your a wehraboo tiger fetichist or something not a true space pilot
>>
>>174476
>Start flying them, those are some of the best in the game
I'm aware of that, I just hate how they look.
>>174477
>pancake makes a lot of sense while building a ship
Oh really? I guess its weird that neither nasa nor elon built them like that.
>because your a wehraboo tiger fetichist or something not a true space pilot
Projecting much? Lmao
>>
>>174485
You will want those pancakes when the light atmospheric flights evolve into full atmospherics.

they build it like a cylinder because its easier to carry huge amounts of fuel for atmospheric takeoff without the danger of the ship breaking off because of gravity (just lmaoing at human engineering)

they arent really building ships or planes for space, they just launch ballistic rockets with predefined trajectories, its very similar to the process of throwing humans in a circus with a big cannon
>>
>>174487
>when the light atmospheric flights evolve into full atmospherics.
this will never happen
>>
>>174258
I always assumed they were designed to be much smaller by the art team, but the faggot in charge of implementation decided they needed BIGGER ships and just made them BIGGER while leaving the proportions intact.
>>
>>174258
I like to think that if you want to explore you want some comfort, claustrophobia would kick in fast in a small canopy
>>
Should I put bi-weave or regular shields on a viper mk4?
>>
>>174512
If you are flying that ship, you might as well continue following your own intuition
>>
>>174512
it really depends on what you are using it for, for sustained pve combat its better to have shields, for assesination and 1v1 pvp combat its better to hull tank, what type of hulltanks depends if you are doing pve or pvp too
>>
>>174525
I wanted to do some PVE bounty hunting with it, but I also want to try conflict zones. I got biweave since there's not actually that much difference in shield strength and I already stacked on a bunch of hull reinforcement anyways
>>
Fdev is fucking with the mining algorithms, my trusty double VO hotspot is yielding no VO at all, just alexandrite, grandidierite and some LTD for pittance

Anyone else using Voice Attack to provide from voice feedback? I'm a stick-let, and I use it to provide some useful functions in terms of weapons, landing points, etc. I'm trying to work on some "advanced" functions as well, stuff like tracking where in the menus it is so I can voice command it around the UI, but I'm a major tard, it's not easy for me.
>>174612
It's not free though?
>>
>>174620
I got it free on the Epic Games store
