So the way it works is that when a modded lobby goes up you'll also see a profile code being posted. You'll want to copy that code and import it as a new profile in r2modman. The mods will automatically download, and then all you have to do is launch modded and join the host.

Mithrix's final phase could really benefit from a rework. The item stealing shit is a good idea, but it was executed really poorly since he copies your items 1:1 instead of having something unique. Here's my suggestions:
>remove invuln while item stealing, instead add damage resistance during his item jewing that scales based on timer+difficulty
>items he steals are in specific categories, i.e. sticky bomb, brilliant behemoth, will'o the wisp, etc. are considered in the "explosive" category, tesla, uke are considered in the "electric" category
>he will randomly choose an item from a category and do a unique attack pattern from it i.e. he picks uke and does some cool lightning-based attack that's fair enough to dodge even without items
>if you survive the attack pattern, he gives you half of the items in that category back to you (you had 4 electric items, he gives you back 2)
>he repeatedly chooses random items until you manage to get them all back
>no bullshit 1 shots you can't react to
>can still damage him during these attack patterns to get items back
>when he runs out of items, he'll revert to how he is in the original phase 4 sans items
It'd be a lot better than what we have now, but this is just wishful thinking since hotpoo's a hack.

You may want to make a duplicate profile for your setups if you intend on updating any mods or installing new ones because the R2API will automatically update itself every time you do that.
Earlier games with the new API had teleporters not giving the players item rewards for killing the boss, the Worship Unit not giving players their red items and Item Blacklist mods not working properly. It may get fixed soon, but be aware.

I don’t think any crossover characters would really work in this game, Risk of Rain has a very defined aesthetic with its characters and having characters that don’t fit that as well would ruin a lot of the immersion and cohesiveness with the characters for me.
Same reason why I don’t like the crossover characters in Rivals of Aether, because they just don’t fit with the game.

Honestly most of the shit that Rein has been adding to Sniper have been stuff that doesn't necessarily add a niche gameplay style that enhances Sniper's design but more or less makes him similar to other characters which fuckin' sucks in terms of design.

Look at the plasma ammo that he added; changing his damage to be a debuff instead just makes him more like Bandit, Acrid, and REX where they all want Death Mark. Similarly, the burst fire he added a while back just makes him play more similar to Huntress with Alt M1, and Commando where they all want proc items.

Why add skills that make a unique character more similar to other characters when the player can simply choose the character that Sniper is mimicking?

I think that the best ammo that he added was the explosive ammo which covers Sniper's inherent weakness of dealing with crowds of enemies with a tradeoff of single target damage. If more of the skill he added were like that in terms of design, I'd be fine with the alt skills. I'd also like if some of the skills added complemented his status as a single target burst damage dealer.

And don't even get me started on the blink knife. That shit is an amazing concept that doesn't really fit the character it's given to and also exacerbates an issue that I've had with Sniper's shift for a long time. The backflip is more of a "you can shoot twice now" skill than it is a "high mobility escape" skill in the mod. The knife would fit any character that WANTS to be close up to an enemy but is instead given to a Sniper, y'know the one archetype best known for wanting to be in enemies' faces.

Rein is a good code monkey but really can't into gameplay design and balance. Forget Sniper's flaws, look no further than the absolute abortion that is Rogue Wisp to see that in full effect.

Frankly, he would be better off rebranding Sniper into another character entirely (Sharpshooter, Infiltrator, Hunter, etc) and making Classic Sniper it's own separate thing. May i suggest that you go into config on miner and:
Increase andrenaline cap to 200
Unlock extra skins
As well as going into bandit Config and enabeling Execute on Special, as well as allowing it to work on bosses. (Write 1 for 100% health, 0.1 for 10%, the config does not specify what to write)
Would allow miner to be better as well allow some faster kill on super tanky multi elites with bandit.

Just booted up Starstorm for the first time in a while. I'm checking out some of the new characters -- is it just me, or is DU-T kind of incredibly shit? Charging off enemies takes forever and deals no damage, and charging off yourself drops you to half health. The big fuck-off laser is nice, but it's comparable to a less damaging version of Sniper's charged shot, but again, you have to be at half health if you want to have it ready. The healing is nice, but with shit mobility and /v/ rules where the main cause of death is one-shots, it doesn't really do anything.

The cooldown is pretty long, at 12 seconds, and the individual damage on the red orb isn't very big. The only thing that makes it worth using in crowds is the amount of charge you get, and you can get functionally similar levels (i.e. one-shot most enemies) just by using the healing orb on yourself while charging.

DU-T just takes getting used to, you need to know when to time your skills and know when you should heal and when you should attack.
Also remember that you can switch between heal and attack modes while you have charge already, I thought he was shit until I figured that out.

If you're not sure where to start on the spotter ability; it may be worth looking at the Gnarled Woodsprite's code because it seems to function very close to how I imagine the spotter drone would work, which is sending a floating object (sprite/drone) to another body. Instead of only targeting allies to heal them, it could only target enemies and apply a debuff instead.

Ended up dying to poison from strange can. It lasts pretty long if an Aeonian enemy gets a big stack of 'em. Long enough to get through several hardened shells and a couple Dios, anyhow. Mashing the healing button didn't even help.

I had a run where I got Hyper Threader on DU-T pretty early on, that item is ridiculous on him because it procs from every single hit of his Z.
I essentially became a rapid-fire laser turret by the end of the run.

I went more for a build on his V. His Z stops hitting enemies once he gets enough charge, which is pretty dumb. But, 100% crit, plus wicked ring (and optional alien heads), makes for a lot of flying red balls. As a neat side effect, it made for some real XBOXHUEG laser shots when I finally tapped Z. It oneshot everything but empyrean enemies and left a giant red bar going all the way across the map for a few seconds.
