Controls are mostly straightforward and intuitive, but there's always little tips and tricks to learn, more info can be found at https://kb.tabletopsimulator.com/

>How do I join?
That's easy, you click on "Join" in the main menu, search for the lobby name and password that's been posted, and done!

>How do I host?
Click on "Create", and that's basically it.

Just putting this here in prep for the weekend.
Lobby: Strategy @ 4PM UTC
Pass: No password.
Any game we play will be taught with a microphone, players do not need mics though. Our current lineup of games is
Barbarians & Empires - 4 to 10 sirs.
Fief France - for 5 to 6 players.
Fleet Command - 4 or 6 lads.
A War Machine - 3 to 6 homies.
Goblin - 2 to 5 gobloids.
COIN games - 4 chads.
Azure Sky: DOTH - 3 chongers.
Rise & Decline of The Third Reich - 2 to 4.
Senjutsu - 2 to 4 and the only non-strategy game cause I feel like it.
Lobby will be open an hour early on Saturday and Sunday for joiners, questions and people who just wanna look at the games. I expanded the list of games a lot since last week so maybe you will be interested in at least one of these.

Eurogames are a genre, not a specific game, same as RTS or FPS. So the path of getting good at them depends on the specifics of the game. But generally they're about resource management and looking ahead/around, at what will or might happen in the future due to game RNG, and at your opponents to see where you can mess them up and where to beware being messed up.
>>1103545

>>1104151
Not much point in being competitive in a context where others arent
>>

BGA has tournaments/ranked ladder mode for competitive minded players. Plus, most players want to win, and that makes most games competitive by nature of not letting everyone win.

Yes, but there is a nuance depending on how much you're invested in winning

>Doesnt BGA only have small, filler games available unless you pay a subscription fee?
That's mostly true. There's still a decent array of medium-heavy games without subscription if you're not too picky.

This ambiguity is present in the original German rules (http://michaelschacht.net/index.php?subject=gameinfo&game=kardinal-und-koenig;N;2000).

>Raetewertung

It's vacuously true that each player has the majority of 0 advisors so scoring the alliances with Italy should be correct (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vacuous_truth).
It's also vacuously true that each player does not have the majority among 0 advisors, but the rules only speak to the case of having an advisor majority so simultaneously not having a majority is irrelevant.
>>
>>1110008
So how was it? And how were the turns? sequential or simultaneous?

>>1110041
Lol, thanks for the research, I think I like 0 being considered a majority tie because it brings more strategy about it, you could let it be empty at the risk of being very easy to steal or every player could benefit from it so it's a pretty neat mechanic, intentional or not, though I feel like that's the way it's intended to be played, hell, I bet Germans love Vacuous cases lol.

>>1110046
>And how were the turns? sequential or simultaneous?
I played it sequential since most cases were written like that, and it worked quite well. Game is pretty fun, the luck of the card draw with the face up cards to diminish the luck of the draw is pretty good, the back and forth with blocking and fighting for majority is very nice as well. I wasn't sure about placing so many advisors at the start and losing points on mid scoring (a player even noted me doing that being senseless, and I beat him lol) thanks to the scoring mechanics was pretty good. For a 1999 game it sure is something cool and feels very modern, it will probably be my next PnP project.
>>
>>1110046
Turns are sequential. A random player goes first and turn order is clockwise seating order.
The player who went first is marked because one of the requirements for the game to end is that every player has had the same number of turns.
It doesn't come up much because players usually players can agree to shortcut to the ending once everyone has run out of useful moves.
It's also worth mentioning that mid-game scoring does not require each player to have taken the same number of turns.

Not even the sequel/retheme has an answer to the 0 question, which makes me think 0 is indeed a "shared majority" because of the insistence of not making that clear lol. Then again, they do make it clear that to score the Monasteries during the region scoring you DO need at least 1 monastery in there.
>>
>>1110116
>It doesn't come up much because players usually players can agree to shortcut to the ending once everyone has run out of useful moves.
On that note https://i.4cdn.org/vm/1700847963032317.jpg is crazy now that I'm looking at it.
Red has 5 monasteries and 2 advisors left. Pink has 8 monasteries and 1 advisor left. Purple has 6 monasteries left. Tons of points are up for grabs.

(first + is to the player in question, further +/-s are to other players)
Red benefits from placing monasteries in England* (+1/+1), Frankreich (+3/+1), Aragon* (+1/+1), Italien (varies), Burgund (+2/+1/+1), and Bayern* (varies).
Pink benefits from placing monasteries in Lothringen (+1/+1), Frankreich* (+1/+1), Aragon (+3/+1), Italien (varies), Burgund* (+1/-1), and Bayern (varies).
Purple benefits from placing monasteries England (+3/+1), Lothringen (+3/+1), Frankreich (+4/+1), Italien (varies), Burgund* (+1/-1), and Bayern (varies).
>Italien
The player before Purple in turn order can get 4 points and purple can get 2 points.
That's the only outcome that isn't detrimental to the player who initiates things.
>Bayern
Red can take 2 points.
The player before Red in turn order can get 5 points and give Red 1 point.
The player after Red in turn order can take 4 points and give Red 2 points (if the cards are right).
The player after Red in turn order can take 4 points, give the player after Red 4 points, and give Red 2 points.

Advisors are a messy because some moves (*) open spaces for advisors.
Red wants two advsiors in Schwaben, Pink wnats 1 advisor in Schwaben to keep Red away.
If Red takes Schwaben, then Pink takes Frankreich, Burgund, or Italien (in that order of preference).
If Pink takes Schwaben, then Red takes Burgund and Lothringen, Burgund and Italien, Lothringen and England, or Bayern and Italien (in that order of preference).

99 cards were played but only 62 pieces. Did you guys miss that you can play 2 pieces per turn?
>>
>>1110205
Everything was played correctly, we just had some crappy hands/turns and tunnel vision
>>
>>1110205
>Pink [...] Lothringen (+1/+1),
>Purple [...] Italien (varies),
That's are * but the Italien one doesn't matter.

Here's the breakdown on opening things:
Opening spaces in England or Aragon doesn't matter (there are better places for advisors).
Opening spaces in Italien or Bayern doesn't mater either (they have plenty of room).
>If Red takes Schwaben,
Pink wants to open Frankreich and Burgund. Pink opening Lothringen doesn't matter.
Purple doesn't want Burgund should open it themselves (Pink opening it is worse).
>If Pink takes Schwaben,
Pink doesn't want to open Burgund or Lothringen. Pink opening Frankreich doesn't matter.
Purple doesn't want to open Burgund either.
>>

At least you have some cool shit happening. I played it IRL recently.
>first cards are all non-attack cards, so the game is stuck with people buying cards and running tradefairs, further reinforcing the states no one can take
>one guy gets a queen, campaigns and then wins on empire victory
game 3
>guy gets a bunch of ship prestiges and a few concessions
>since he gets all the money he can buy the pirate to murder the remaining concessions and get an easy globalisation victory
Sometimes it feels like the decks just cannot do anything
>>
>>1113834
No attacks cards are very unlikely lol, but a reinforced map means Religious Wars can become really easy to win since adjacent knights would participate, was the campaigner paying for each knight ever campaign? Would probably run out of money soon. Also what about Vote Ops? That's a nifty way to get some kingdoms from a player's tableau
On the second case it's more of a seeing the future kind of thing, need to block opportunities to avoid people from getting a big engine going.

There were peasant revolts with a single agent, and they were spread around different kingdoms so its not like you could do a one-two-punch. Apart from that you had apostasy and reformatoins (with no red knights to speak of) etc. It didnt help that people immediately popped west trade routes to basically max out every kingdom. That+early comet basically nailed the game shut.
>vote ops
only works against independent kingdoms, and there was only one kingdom+subject.
The only mistake I can think of is that green didnt take england in his first turn (he took a peasant revolt so his concession couldve helped in the fight) in favor of buying 2 cards. Then the trade fair happened and he couldnt take england anymore. After that the market was really poor.

I think the 3rd game couldve been played better, but it was a 2p game and one could get a marriage to ottoman as starting move. If one can take most of the money he can snipe important cards and if the game gives a single ship+a ton of concessions its hard to fight back. Even if the trade victory was blocked the map was still heavily tilted in one's favor
>>
>>1113864
Not gonna lie, I went tunnel vision hard (not being comfortably at home didnt help) and the opening for sneaky victories like that one went completely over my head
But gotta say that things like this happening because the comet came out at the wrong time are kinda frustrating
GG still, but I wanna try other paxes and we still havent done that, let's check out pax viking or the new pax illuminatem next time aye? (not today, enough pax for a day, lets try agricola if there's other anons interested)

I see, that's a pretty interesting deck, when I play IRL I make sure I shuffle the fuck out of those decks because it has so many cards lol, you don't see many at 2p either, now I WANT to see a really bad deck in one of my plays and see how can I go about it.
>>1113906
Yeah what I did was very sneaky but it was an all-in that without that tunnel vision it might not have worked, all I did the last 2 turns before winning was just selling cards in hopes of getting the comet to show up. And actually it would have been pretty easy to block me since I had moved the single Red Bishop to your side of your tableau, meaning you could have just sold England and its vassals to get rid of the Religious Supremacy, of course that's not immediately apparent and for a lot of people that's a tall order to do because you'd be losing plenty of empire squares, but you had a very strong position so I think it was more than worth it. That's the thing about Pax Ren and what makes it so good.

In any case, as anon said, let's play Agricola since we talked about it after the AFFO game. Will host in approximately 2 hours, give (You) for interest, this dude's video is pretty good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWuUuxbMDB0 if you wanna prepare beforehand.

I shuffle pretty well and then I alternate between tossing cards aside and adding them to the playing deck. With 2p the comet can come early and if you keep churning one deck (since the other has shit cards and you arent on the east trade route) you can just end up losing to a victory condition before you can find anything useful.

I did. Had to steal code from several of the now defunct workshops and Frankenstein'd a mod of my own, now there's a screen that blocks the opponent from seeing your blocks until he chooses to reveal them.
I also added Snap points on request of players BUT there is a way these could be use to cheat. Of course nobody here cheats so it won't be a problem, but still I'd like a way to avoid it, but this is due to the game's internal mechanics and I doubt it could be really fixed. works pretty great.

And the game is over with a victory for Ishida Mitsunari then again! First weeks were steady and low on combat as the armies got larger an started taking key locations for resources, fortunately the Ishida player managed to grab some castles and have more cards available for the starting feuds giving them an edge and making the Red Devils escape and eventually die. Meanwhile on the other side of the map the leader of the Tokugawa clan almost gets killed but Uesugi did NOT want to cooperate and eventually failed at doing any damage to the opposing forces.

This war of attrition ended up in a count for victory points with the Ishida Clan coming up victorious thanks to the 3 castles they took away from Tokugawa. Good game and well played!

After 4 hours playing i realized we will lost, and started to do miniplays just to win with then.

I don't remenber my spirit but it was something that give energy and elenents to allies.

They wanted to play again some months later, if we lost i don't think they would wsnt to play again.

NTA but Sekigahara is actually really easy to learn and play, Netrunner is a CCG so the complexity comes from the cards (and how fucking hard is to get them because the game is OoP). If you're interested in Pax Pamir, it's basically Pax Ren but simpler, it's also really good but idk if it's as good at 2 players like Ren is.

If you wanna try games you're always welcome to host/join us here lad.

Yeah lol, dude goes wild in those, you can trim like 5 pages of the manual without those, I haven't even read them all. I have only 29 recorded plays but I think it's closer to like 40 now, did your group like it?
>>
>>1116971
Why do you guys keep specifically asking for that game, it's not even that good a game...
>>
>>1117102
instead of trimming I rather have him add some pages to make the manual more readable.

>I haven't even read them all
they're okay. But I have no idea why you would try something like making this statement in footnotes of a game manual. Like, first of all you are very limited by the fact you have to follow the order of things the game manual dictates to you. You cant make footnotes too long. And its less readable as the notes are broken up by normal text instead of it being all connected. It doesnt help that he seemed to have cited like 3 authors tops. I dont mind the libertarian rant but this format is terrible. It wouldve been a lot better if he just put 3 pages of theory and historicity of the game mechanics in the back of the manual instead of via footnotes.

>did your group like it?
think so. It can make you feel powerless if you get off on the wrong foot and everyone is just murdering your concessions and taking away your powerbase, and there are no market cards to quickly get back into the game. But one game evolved into a nice back and forth which I think appealed to them.
