4-5 years seems to be the general actual cycle of main Square Enix titles from actual production to "Gold".4.5 years was the cycle for the latest Dragon Quest (with an additional year for international languages and PC port)FF16 apparently began earnest development in late 2016 and was supposedly done last year with about a years delays due to Covid.This even fits KH3 game went gold in early Oct of 2018, started development in 2014 and lost a year due to the engine switch.Assuming you count from 2020 but lost a year due to Covid, 2024/5 is the right time frame.The issue you'll have is the actual date of release since as was shown with KH3 since Disney didn't want the game competing with big release on the holiday (COD I think) in the western markets, they asked Sqaure to delay release to Jan since the English voicing couldn't be finished till just before December.

The incident
Maybe ”the incident” is that nomura recreated the keyblade war IRL
KH3 could've benefitted from being more meta.Imagine if Sora was made Keyblade master in DDD anyhow. The effects of DDD hadn't sapped him of his strength in one sitting, but slowly over time. Even as Sora's arsenal grows, he continues to get weaker. There's enormous pressure on him to save these people that have been waiting a decade (and also Roxas, can't forget about Roxas) for their time in the sun again, and the sky-high hopes of people like Kairi and the other Disney denizens are making things worse. He unlocked the POW, but he's got a mental block for it, SM2-Style. Sid himself isn't sure what's wrong, so he sends Sora out to the worlds as a sort of healing process(also strengthening).He later gets tasked with overseeing the rest of Axel and Kairi's training since Merlin taught them both all the magic he knows. Kairi sees Sora trying to act the way he usually acts, but corrosion within him is making him more jaded, more exhausted. The organization, realizing this weakness, makes plans to take advantage of that weakness and turn him into a feral shell of his former self (basically COM 2.0). Donald and Goofy do their best to keep Sora anchored, but at times he just flies off the handle or goes into his Rage form. At one point, he even creates a corridor of darkness to chase after one of the Org members. He does some damage but ultimately has to get bailed out. After the incident, everyone sits down to have an actual discussion with Sora's worrying condition. Sora's cynical about Axel's concern and assures him he'll keep Roxas alive. At this, Kairi gives him the impassioned "We're worried because we care about YOU, dumbass" speech. She emphasizes further that while she cares for Namine and the rest, she'd never want their happiness to come at the expense of his own. Axel adds in that he's certain the rest feels the same. Sora thanks them. From that point, Kairi or Axel take over for Sora for one world while he recovers.

Finally beat Yozora on crit with no moogle coin. I liked most of the fight but feel conflicted about his actual weaknesses. No way I would've figured out his openings if not for videos (except maybe the invisible sword attack). The reliance on thunder + Quickstep kinda reinforces it for me.Also 95% of his difficulty from the last half of the fight comes from his teleport feint slash, which bottlenecks your progress during the dm and then again if you survive. Goes on way too godamn long in phase 2 when he uses it 4 times in a row.

Kingdom Hearts does something interesting with Riku. He’s set up at the beginning of the game as the player and the player character, sora’s, rival through gameplay and narrative alike. I imagine we could manage a lot of what you're saying if we had a more tradition combo system for 4, which would be a lot simpler to implement than what I've been suggesting, so fingers crossed.

When you really think about it, the quest to revive all the fallen characters from previous titles might as well be a glorified side quest for our hero. He doesn't know these people. He didn't even meet some of them. The only guy he's remotely familiar with is Roxas, and even that bond is kinda weak as motivation. DDD was Sora's last chance to develop an actual stake in the fight against Xehanort, all Nomura saw fit to do was mindrape the boy so he could repeat his arcs from 1-2.

i decided to put my autism to the test while rewatching episode VI and this is how i believe the eventual endor world will play out:>SDG drop on a random ridge in the forest same time Luke and the others do, they start talking about the place when they hear an explosion (Luke and the others being discovered), they start running towards it until they see the speeders "race" between Luke and the troopers>"haha that's so fun let's go look!">they walk a bit (probably playable segment) until they find Han and those other randos waiting, C3PO says "Somebody's coming" and unlike the movie it's SDG instead of Luke. When Han asks who they are heartless attack the group, and Luke gets there at that moment. Cue fight with Luke as party member, maybe Han and Chewie too idk>fight's over, movie plots continues as normal (with some bit expanded to allow for gameplay sections)>at the ewoks village C3PO's retelling of the previous movies events is changed to bring SDG, and the players, up to speed too, then Luke and Leia have their talk>that village bit becomes playable and serves as a hub where you can talk to people and interact with ewoks and whatever, save point and all>SDG decide to go after Luke (given nobody else in the movie seemed to care he just left like that)>scene with Luke turning himself in, Luke and Vader have their talk>more forest gameplay and eventually reach the empire base, fight with Vader (in the movie he has Luke being escorted by troopers while he stays back for a moment, this is when the fight happens)>it's a "you lose even if you win" fight, SDG are captured and brought to the death star>rest of the movie plot continues as normal with SDG being kept from it until the end (they reunite with Luke as Vader is dying) as usual, on the flipside the time is spent exploring the death star and fighting both heartless and all kind of empire minions>final boss, somehow palpatine returned as a dark force ghost>movie ends, they say their goodbyes yada yada

Like the only other way for them to not being kept from the plot without changing it is to instead staying on the moon with Han and the others, but that means no death star exploration. Speaking of, movie events while SDG are there would unfold via intermission cutscenes that happen every time SDG make meaningful progress, implying the death star is pretty big and has stuff like multiple mid-bosses and the like (ie, red guards)With all that said i do realize one big fatal flaw in all of this: doing it like this means the bulk of the world is only there while the plot is going cause it gets destroyed at the end and can't be revisited later, but i guess they could just say "a wizard did it" and bring it back in a ooc moment. Maybe even put in a Vader remnant boss fight why the fuck not

But I will say that Lingering Will's identity wasn't exactly hidden by the time he was a boss, the original KH2 sure, but we could put a face to the armour by KH2 Final Mix.Of course he doesn't have to be someone we know for there to be a reason to not show his face. Instead of being someone we know now, he could be some other character in Quadratum who'll reveal that they're MoM. It could even be that with him lopping parts off himself to in things that he's little more than a heart inhabiting a black coat. But not having any sort of appearance shown yet is unusual for KH. Given that he hasn't just appeared in a game for someone to fight, say vague things and leave, or in just in KH3's secret ending as a mystery black coat doing heart signs at the sun.
