The spring newsletter will mention that over half of Deltarune's budget is being spent on the final cutscene of the game, which most fans will write off as a joke. During Chapter 7, Kris enters the real world, and the game becomes a first person point and click adventure using real photographs of a New Hampshire town, with the soundtrack becoming an ambient small town field recording and the distant sound of Toby improvising on a church organ, which is so faint that some players may not even notice it. Eventually, the player navigates to a playground, and a found footage style FMV with cutting edge, lifelike CGI that might initially be mistaken for live action footage begins. It depicts King rolling down a hill and crushing a group of children to death, and the panicked, horrified reaction of the adults present, while King just lies there with a smile on his face. A realistic, close up depiction of Kris' face flashes onscreen for less than a second, and then the names of all of the developers are shown on a memorial plaque. Finally, a 90s looking Royal Sciences LLC logo is shown, and then the game closes. Toby will say in an interview that the ending is very personal for him, but won't elaborate any further.

The characters also have new roles.Undyne and Alphys are Asriel's top lieutenants who he inherited from his father's reign. Undyne accompanies Asriel everywhere in full armor. Sacrifices also have to defeat Undyne before they can earn the God-King's combat. Undyne was extended the power of immortality after assisting in overthrowing Chara. Alphys however is the mortal royal scientist who serves to retrieve Asriel's and Undyne's SOULs for rebirth.The imprisoned Deathless Monster Kings are Papyrus, Muffet, and Mettaton. They are found in individual prison cells in the castle basement (really an understatement, think of it like Jevil's "cell" but themed around their powers and personality) and can be fought after defeating Asriel and taking his keys. They are all hostile at first. Mettaton is in his NEO form, by the way, but with balanced ATK and DEF.Two other important distinctions that make it completely different from the original game: the skeleton Sans was never born, and Papyrus is an only child. The character known as Sans is instead someone who masquerades as an ally once Frisk makes it to Snowdin, but is eventually met again in the True Lab beneath the castle which has Asriel's reserve bodies and the human SOULs, where he is revealed as a human descendant of one of Chara's reincarnations who has to be fought against.The Deathless Monster Kings and the True Lab can only be accessed if Frisk completed their journey and defeated Asriel either in a Pacifist route or a Genocide route. Not committing to either path has them go home after defeating Asriel, but causes them to wake up again in the flower bed with the God-King and his lieutenant come back to life.
