I drew Veronica again. This time she's using her Sexy Beam from DQ Rivals.Drew the background myself this time. Took the backgrounds they use in DQ Promo Art as reference.Re-sketched it 3 times, altering between angles and poses, until I finally was satisfied with this. Took around 10 hours of sketching, 1 hour of inking, around 2 hours of coloring, and another 3 hours for background and effects.Also, I'm slowly working my way towards the Bunny Month Finale. Got the ideas and sketches ready, just gotta ink, and color (and maybe even animate) everything.Happy New Lunar Year to the /dqg/ers that celebrate it.

You know one thing I hate about DQ games?That a lot of the equipment with interesting effects are too weak to be used that far into the game.Like the Spike Armor. Who actually uses it? Or the Zombie Slayer, of which there are weapons that do more damage to even zombies just because of higher stats.Why put unique equipment in the game if there's no real incentive to use it?I propose that the next game add a forge option that instead lets you "deconstruct" equipment to create something like an essence or some such.Then other equipment can go into the forge and be fused with these essences to give them bonus effects.So you get the Spike Armor, destroy it, then give it's counter damage property to armor with better stats.Or you destroy the Zombie Slayer and give the the undead killing buff to a boomerang.Basically just some way to take special property equipment and bring it into the end game in some form.

The Zenethian dragon was hatched in the dream world, and King Zenith stated that both of the worlds would be cut off from each other. I've done it. I've finished Dragon Quest V, again. The ending still felt really emotional to me, I loved it even with this being my third run of the game. I just feel sad that it's over. I can't get over these characters, just wish there was more to do with them, more to interact with them. Four good days spent mostly just playing V, so maybe I rushed it. Nera was nice, though I think I still like Bianca a bit more. This isn't a game I'm ever going to forget.

The longest time in game we spend with kid Bianca does just happen over the course of a day but I think you could assume that before they went to Roundbeck they spent a good while with each other while waiting for the medicine. When they meet again I think time is a lot more constrained, he spends the night with her before going to the water cave and the water cave presumably takes a day to a week. Although it does make sense as to why Five and Bianca would consider each other childhood friends. Considering that for Five his time spent with Bianca probably would have been one of the few good memories he had in his entire life up until he meets her again.

Alright time for my series review. For the past nearly 3 months I've played through every mainline game but X and I'd like to share my thoughts. Before doing this mega playthrough I've only ever played IX and V to completion and most of IV and VI.>I and IIThey sucked. Excusable due to age but one of the reasons I even managed to trudge through II was that I was just feeling it for some reason. It's not good, and without a guide would have taken me far, far longer to complete. If I was playing these when they came out they probably would have been great ways to kill time and have some fun. But compared to other entries in the series they are just bad.>IIIOnly the very early game felt like II. Considerable improvement on II, lot easier to navigate the world, exploration is still there without it being frustrating. Honestly III felt like the game which made the series, it's outclassed by every entry which came after it but I can appreciate it a lot more. I was really confused as to why people loved it so much, still kind of am. But I get how important it is now.>IVShort, episodic for half the game. The characters you get to play with are fun and added a lot. Playing with party chat has to be a must though. I don't have too much strong feelings towards this entry other than cool cast of characters and being a solid game overall.>VMy favourite. Which as far as I know is something a lot of people feel. Great story, the party chat was absolutely amazing, everybody had something to say all the time. I couldn't get enough of it, you get to choose a bride and follow Five through his entire life journey. It touched me a lot more than any other game. The vocation system was fun, you can make your party a bunch of beasts because of it. Six happens to actually have a character that exists independently from whatever the player projects onto him. Exploration being a big part of the game was pretty nice. I enjoyed it.>VIIEpisodic like IV, but make it five times longer and generally keep the same characters if not the same party. Kiefer was great, too bad he left early on but the small reminders, especially the ending from him were nice. Besides Maribel and Kiefer the party characters are really hit or miss, or devoid of personality. Vocation system I don't think is as good as VI's and basically forces you into Hero/Druid if you really care to be the best you could be. I did enjoy it, I was really into it so I didn't feel like it was the 60 hour game I did play.>VIIIIt was alright. I heard online that it was really good, and people ranked it really highly. I enjoyed Angelo and Yangus but it certainly was not one of the best in the series which I see people call it as. The Dhoulmagus and Dogmagus chasing was nice. It was probably the easiest entry in the series. Introduction of skill points was good, however without the ability to refund it or have it stack up in some meaningful way basically makes your early-mid game choices the only viable ones. Unless you intend to grind hard.

IX's alchemy with XI as a game would be horrible and vice versa. I felt like I could project more a world from my own imagination onto the 2d games compared to the 3d games, which is a bit of a loss to me. might just be because of how the stories are different, but whatever. I don't know if I rushed the game compared to other people, it took my about 40 hours to finish the whole game, it took the same time for my friend to finish act 1. I played through a decent amount of the post game, I think it's pretty neat. A good after to play through when you've technically won the game already. Giving an extensive story post game was nice and I'm glad they added it. Hope there is more for XII, but I’m also wishing that they make characters I can connect to on a deeper level.

It was one of the few game series I played as a kid and I'm glad it's still going strong. I might replay some of my spinoffs I have like monster jokers and heroes but for a good while, I'm done playing any mainlines for a while. I love the party chat function, it made IV-VI really nice to play through and to me, made V so great. I can't imagine the series without it. I'd say the two games I felt emotional finishing were V and VI, for most of the other games I just felt happy for the characters and it was well deserved for them. But the ending of V in a sense for the same reason hit me a lot harder, particularly because I was more attached to the characters than other games, it's the end of a long journey and a lot of suffering for a touching and heart warming ending. VI wasn't as potent but the ending was in some sense bittersweet and like for Five, Six had a long journey that is finally over.I'm going to stick around for a while longer, /dqg/ has been pretty fun to sit in while playing these games and wait for news.

Just finished Heroes IFun gameplay, too much defend the spot stuff, I literally did not care at all about the story other than as a vehicle to move the plot. Seeing the other DQ characters was cool because my monkey brain thinks they are cool to begin with, the (few) interactions they have are interesting enough.Also, it's clear that everybody but the Brides are from a post game world which is kind of weird for power scaling. Also, when I think about it the Brides would both be stronger than the Hero when they get back, presumably in the morning.
