To complete where my other post was going, to crash AID you'd just need to keep making free tier more and more lucrative since it does nothing but cost something business model-wise. This is some kind of tactic for staying afloat, because even he knows it's shit. He said as much in the past

It's bad for several reasons. The kind of freebie leechers who would never be converted into paying customers are a bad crowd to encourage. It increases strain on resources for those who are paying.
It also gives a bad impression to offer such a weak model as your publicly facing first impression. Even if they kept the 13B trial in place as now, plus that free tier, it would feel terrible to go from Euterpe to Sigurd and those fags would spread a bad word about that experience

No, we don't want that. Not because it would be bad to have more users. Well, it would be bad, but that's not the reason we don't want it.
We don't want it because NAI doesn't have infinite pork money to exchange it for new users. If they tried to, they would bleed money faster than new paying users could return such an investment.

And they have said that NAI is doing much better than expected financially, so who fucking cares. There is zero need for a free tier. You get 50 free actions, plus another 50 after registering, and that's enough to know if you are willing to pay or not. A tier for people you KNOW WILL NOT PAY, is fucking stupid.

You fail to understand, it's not about what NAI can give to free users. It's that "free users" exists to perpetuate gacha mechanics bullshit. If the game/service in question doesn't work with gacha mechanics bullshit that attempts to transform players into payers, it doesn't work.
NAI doesn't use it.
AID, surprisingly, doesn't have enough of it to make the money they want.
Whales have nobody to flex their money over, which is a good thing.

You don't need the ngram stuff to use the base tool, but assuming you want the added features, the following command should work when executed from the proper directory:
java -cp languagetool-server.jar org.languagetool.server.HTTPServer --port 8081 --languageModel 'C:\LanguageTool_ngram_data' --allow-origin
Note the capital M in --languageModel and also substitute your own path in. The folder name doesn't matter, just make sure it's the parent directory of the "en" folder that holds the different ngram data. The --languageModel argument should also be passed before --allow-origin

How well does Krake know Harry potter lore (on its own, no lorebooks etc)? I won't test it myself because I never read/watched it so I wouldn't know what's right or wrong, I'm asking about it because it's a fuckhuge franchise with relatively uncomplicated lore (compared to for example star wars, which does have a lot of books and fanfics but they are scattered between hundreds of characters and multiple different eras), so it would be the perfect test for the model's capability for learning more complex relations.

I was thinking more along the lines of a scene taking place in universe, and if it correctly remembers which characters are students and which are teachers (and then which houses they belong to or what do they teach), and what are the properties of spells, potions and magic objects, if locations are more or less accurate, this kind of stuff.

This is the one fear I could kinda sympathize with when OAI and others argued against releasing their models to the public. But unfortunately (fortunately for us), even if you get every AI researcher in the west to agree that it's irresponsible to give the public free access to too many beaks, you're not getting Russia or China to pass up on a technology that can give some political advantage.

>But unfortunately (fortunately for us), even if you get every AI researcher in the west to agree that it's irresponsible to give the public free access to too many beaks, you're not getting Russia or China to pass up on a technology that can give some political advantage.
And that's verbatim the argument Conor Leahy made when he founded EleutherAI and started making the open-source models. The damage was done when OAI demonstrated that the tech was possible, now gatekeeping it with beta access and ToSs is pointless because anyone who can actually do serious damage with the tech can also go and make their own. Only hope to fight against it is to have every researcher with an interest in it getting open access to the tech to figure out countermeasures.

>>
>>389148151
No, rather it's like every other domain of cybersecurity
Side A is figuring out exploits, while side B is figuring out how to detect and nullify those exploits. If you want to know how to detect bots you first need to know how those bots work.
AI image recognition is already capable of beating those captcha puzzles you have to solve on websites, which means we need new ones, and those will need to be designed by people who research the tech.

Authors notes hasn't had an update for a while now, so if you did not like it in 1.16 you still won't like it.

But how useful it is and what it is used for by default varies per model.

What would you need for it to be considered good in your eyes?
>>
>>389146749
With high effort comes high expectations. If you put hours into perfecting your prompt, you start hoping for really good outputs to justify that effort. But if you just type some dumb shit and get a half-decent response, there's a simple satisfaction in that.
Just remember that, like with many things in life, cheap fun is fleeting, while putting in effort is often more rewarding in the long term.

Well, thankfully we're already seeing big capability gaps in NLP models like GPT-3 and NAI's stuff. Namely mathematical solutions.
The next time I'm talking to someone and I genuinely suspect they're a bot, I'm going to ask them to solve me a math question. They're obviously allowed to use a calculator or WolframAlpha, but at the moment the NLP models don't have calculators built in.

OPT-66B got released by facebook. Won't work in Kobold yet since it needs to be converted first. I expect the HF guys to do that pretty quickly since the existing converters will probably work.

Once its on huggingface I will add it to Kobolds menu with an update.
>>
Little finding related to writing fanfics for books: namedropping characters is not enough, you also should write in similar style as the book.
For example if you have a captain, who in narration is only called by his last name but in your story in narration you call him "Captain McAnons", the AI might not understand what are you talking about without additional hammering. It may seem to you like it's less context because you didn't specify the rank and AI might think you are talking about any other McAnons, but AI is not logical like that, it only follows patterns, and it has never seen a story in which "Captain McAnons said", but plenty in which "McAnons said".
>>
>>389148489
reCaptcha already does this with the "I'm not a robot" checkbox. Turns out there's a lot of subtleties in the simplest of human behavior that's difficult for a bot to imitate convincingly.

What's the biggest model you can currently run in Kobold on colab with a P100?
>>
>>389151514
6B so that is not the recommended route, the TPU can run up to 20B although 20B you may have to slightly tone down the max context and you need to be careful switching between the backends since it overloads 20B if you do (So either always have Dynamic WI info on, or have No Gen Mod on but don't switch between them during a session).

So 20B is really stretching it but possible, 13B is solid on a TPU.
>>
>>389151758
In other words, paying for Pro is useless.
If you wish to pay rent a better GPU on runpod instead. For 44 cents per hour you can run 13B, for 88 cents per hour you can run 30B.
And for $6 per hour i could run 176B (but in that case with a few minutes between responses).
>>
>>389151758
Interesting, thanks. I have a colab+ sub; will that make it any better for 20B?

Not for Kobold, but if you use image generation notebooks it is very useful for that.

Meanwhile a small headsup for everyone here, Localtunnel seems to be down. So for Kobold today it might be wise to pick Cloudflare instead. Other notebooks can be effected to.

No localtunnel is down, if you select Cloudflare and then the stop / start button you will get a working link.

Good indicator for me to reduce the amount it tries Localtunnel though, its supposed to try cloudflare automatically but it takes to long in its attempts.

Fuck Russia, and fuck (most) Russians. Ask the few Russians we have here in /aids/, by and large Russians are barely functioning nationalist drunks that will blindly follow anything the government tells them. Once you get away from the cities and the universities, they 100% support what their government is doing, and would gladly expand it to other former Soviet nations as well.

Anyone experimented with rp style writings? Like blocks of text that always start with the character acting out their part of the story back and forth. I banned the ai from generating my character's name so it keeps to its own actions quite left and plays off of why I output and then some. I was just curious if anyone else tried such an autistic method and perhaps what tips could be offered if so. I really enjoy this style of writing.

But then wouldn't it just stop early if it walked into referencing said name while describing an act? Like 'Bob gripped Tom's hand' would kill the generation before hand and could likely be quite early into the generation. It seems like it would be hell to deal with. Where the system I'm using now makes the ai continue to write from its perspective instead of taking over my character.

Not sure if it'll matter anyway. According to the license under "Uses" on the huggingface page at:

It looks like they have a set of use restrictions too. Not quite as strict as OpenAI from the looks of things, but still more than enough to be a pain in the ass.

Frankly, I don't even see the problem with GPT-4chan. It actually seems less "harmful" than a general purpose model because it's limited to generating... well, /pol/ posts. And they're so deep down their own rabbit hole that they'd stick out like a sore thumb if you posted them anywhere else. And lest we forget that people can, and do, post political spam without needing a transformer model.

The only reasoning I can see for getting angry about it existing is if you think that people are magically going to turn into racists just by playing with it.

So I've been bugging the NAI devs on trannycord about it, and they refuse to say a word; which actually says a lot. If the model were unusable, they'd almost always call me a retard and tell me why.

Try not to laugh at the code, I never said I was a GOOD coder. Userscripting a react page rattles my bones so hard

userscript: https://files.catbox.moe/3ffale.js
buffed paimon css: https://files.catbox.moe/xwt0he.css
notable differences in the css are that instead of using .comment-avatar-speaking, you use .comment-avatar-speaking-1, 2, 3. Could add more if you want, it's a single var in the userscript. So you'd change randomImageAmt to 4 and add .comment-avatar-speaking-4
This is laggier to add to custom css since it's more base64 and I should have made Paimon smaller res-wise ages ago but oh well

Mindcontrolfags looked at the mecha and peaced the fuck out. Also, the show has been found wanting in waifu quality.

Hear me out: yes, there are a couple high-quality waifus, I'm not blind to that. But I calculate a show's WQR (Waifu Quantifier Ratio) not by its highs, but the overall experience.
When you average the quality of waifus all around—and you do want to calculate it considering their personalities, of lack thereof—Code Geass ends up with a really low WQR.

AI winter 3.0 will come when they start running into walls, not when someone uses a story generation model to say something offensive. The alignment stuff they complain about matters in a lot of real world applications like customers service chatbots or medical screening or whatever, but just vaguely pointing at 'harms' if the model went public is unironically a bit 1984?
>>
>>389224210
Also the thing they're doing (that you seem to be doing in this post too) where they pretend that stopping the AI from saying N word is "alignment" is extremely worrying

Making sure the AI has progressive politics has nothing to do with alignment, it's both 1000 times easier than alignment and 1000 times less important

The attempt to redefine alignment as "upholds correct social justice values" is going to get us all paperclipped

Walls have been run into and overcome, because they are blockades overcomable by knowledge.

To add on to this, I also think the idea of alignment as a goal that can ostensibly be achieved is a dangerous cope. If we build the kind of agents that need aligning (AGI), who's to say we can actually do so? We might think we can align it but end up fucking it up anyway.

The best case scenario is that all this talk of AGI is just self-important god-complex circlejerking by AI researchers who think that their work on transformer models and GANs qualifies them to talk about "alignment" and larp as heroes that will mankind from rogue AGI, and not something that will ever actually come to pass

NTA, but that was just an excuse to gain money.
A proper AGI would be an active danger. If you want to put it into perspective, just think about it as a nuclear plant: you can have tons of good coming out of it, but the moment shit hits the fun, it REALLY does fuck it up for tons of people.
>>389233336
The only way we could safely keep an AGI around was through a multi-layered "prison", where layers of abstraction and verification envelop it.
Because of all that, AGIs would need to be worth every cent of the potential trouble they are.

Is Krake the best model right now? If so, what's the best preset for it right now?
>>
>>389247281
I don't use it too often, but I did try it a couple of times in a story today. It's not too bad, at least.

I like Top Gun but obviously a way more random preset like Rando can really throw some interesting generations out there if you're willing to deal with more retries

We need a tiny tool to create hypebots, you just give it the name and images and it does the rest.

Tossup between blue lighter, best guess and top gun for me. You can find the last two in the aids wiki, under presets. Personally, the best solution is to learn what the individual sliders do, and adjusting them from a good baseline as needed, alongside preset changes for more drastic adjustments. You can find a decent qrd in the settings category in the wiki, but seeing the changes while writing is the best way to get the hang of them.

>another "best preset" question
Contrary to what most anons claim, there is no "best preset", just different tools for different jobs. If you don't want to go the path of optimization, you'll still want to try the presets yourself and find your preffered.
Anyway, some presets work better for niche ideas, others are the best if you write like an ESL, and so on.
Some anons like >>389250848 like to micro-manage a single preset. Others, like me, change whole presets depending on the current needs.
>>
>>389250496
If you want another opinion, I usually switch between Blue Adder and Top-Presence. Occasionally Top Gun when I just want more text and not more ideas.

I make a preset for each individual sampling type except Top-k (since mixing sampling always feels too restrictive to the token pool)-- then switch between them whenever one sampling type gets stuck.

The ones I've always been most impressed with are Top-a and Tail Free, personally.
Typical feels like it could be incredible in theory, but the concept is clearly not fully baked, even in the original paper.

Apparently 'chitsy' is not a word. Odd, I swore it was. I'm tryin to describe a sort of low quality feeling, like you're browsing the junk at a second hand store, yet unconvincingly optimistic at the same time.
Like, a word for particularly bad muzak

OK, I was a little harsh on a bad first impression of nu-inline. It just gave me something decent.
