I only recently got into the series (and Project Wingman), so this is the closest thing I have to a picture of a plane, apologies.
I picked up 7 on a whim a while back and it was the most fun I've had in a video game in years. Immediately bought Project Wingman after finishing 7 and it was a ton of fun too. Just finished 4 last night and started on 5 as well.

Does anyone here play pic related? Pretty fun little game where you build and fly your own aircraft. Some people make really detailed versions of IRL and Ace Combat jets, although it's usually a crapshoot whether they actually fly well.

No, there's a version that runs on phones. Some of the more complex player creations can tax your PC pretty hard but the kind of things you throw together with the basic non-modded building tools are no problem whatsoever.

There's no story mode or whatever and the flight model isn't nearly as fluid as Ace Combat even on planes that are well built, but it's fun to dick around in. Worth getting on sale.

I mean sure, but this didn't need to take as long as it did. The first time around I did the individual routes by making additional saves at every choice level (or where I guessed there'd be some). The whole "progress saved across 2 game disks" thing resulted in progress being all over the place so I did a second full playthrough, since I needed all A's instead. You don't know just how painful it is to go from a final mission back to the prologue, feels like you're going slowmo.

So I did all the missions back to back going UPEO, GR, NEU, GR-OURO and finally NEU-OURO and shit. Then, because I had to skip a mission in GR-Ouro for an S-Rank (you can get 3 targets go to get a "fuck your fleet lma- Is that a ICBM?" mission, but you get a D-Rank for doing so.
Probably should 'ave done that route after Neucom desu, had to go through Neucom-Ouro again after doing that mission to synchronize Disk 1 - Disk 2 progress data.
This could have all been alot easier if we didn't have 2 disks, wew.

'tleast I'm done. Now I can go back to 4

games like 4 and x had this sort of "rivarly" between the f-22 and su-37
its funny in retrospective now that the f-22 is still a unlock in the finale of the game and you can probably get the su-37 by the 6th or 7th mission
I wonder if the su-37 is the closest thing the game has to the original 35, and thats why it has the scarface and ofnir skins

The 'War' in 'Unsung War' has negative connotations, so it was renamed. It's like how in the new Fallout games they were going to just call morphine morphine but Australia threw a hissy fit so it ended up being labeled as Med-X in the game.

Well your choice is American, European, or Russian planes, and they're all pretty good so really it depends on which one you think is the coolest. Typhoon, Strike Eagle, F-15C/J, and Su-33 using HVAA, are all strong and easy choices that don't need EML or QAAM.
>>
>>334359915
a biplane would probably be disintegrated if a jet flew right past it
>>
>>334367205
The MiG-29 is actually pretty strong in 2000 lobbies, the HPAA it gets is extremely useful and can basically kill anything at that tier in one shot.
>>
>>334367205
It's an excellent choice! It's nimble, it's got HPAA, and the partial PSM capability will allow you to line up physics-defying shots.
>>
>>334358203
Neucom trying to one-up the Starblazer? Pfffft
>>
>>334367205
Absolutely. The MiG-29 is in my opinion one of the best 2000 point jets in the game. It might struggle a little in the higher point counts but keeping a 2000 point setup with HPAA on standby is never a bad idea. I usually just toss all the SPW upgrades on there that I can muster. I'd say that missile speed and homing performance are the most important ones though.
>>
I really wish that we could have a SPW filter rather then a blanket ban on them when making a lobby. EML, QAAM and SASM can really ruin games.

>>334375650

Are donut steels still allowed?
I sketched up two planes here but I'm not sure which one works better.
They're supposed to be single engine versions of the push-pull prop fighter design that I got lying around (you can see it at the very top in the background), a predecessor for it. Kinda what the FW-190A is to the Dora. Primary changes besides removing one engine are that the wings are further forward, the different nose and that it has a razorback now instead of the more bubble like canopy. It should also be slightly shorter, bringing it more in line with the size of the average fighter, at least a little bit.
Any thoughts or feedback on what to work on? Also just if they actually look proper and not just like I cut the back off a plane design haphazardly.
>>
>>334423746

>>
>>334423746

The one nitpick I've got is with the very end of the tail, which I'd make a bit sloped. Permission to make a small edit?

>>334425649
It is. The pushpull is one of my oldest designs, but it was always meant ot have a single engine counterpart.

>>334425762
Those are just from the other design, but I think for this one we can add nose guns, maybe two others in the wing root for a little more 190, but two cannons and two MGs should work too, then it gets uprated to four or five cannons with the upgrade.

>>334425876
Go ahead, the tail could use a bit of a better ending, i.e. what it does on the Zero, but I might also just change the rudder to actually go all the way down so that it makes for the end.
>>
>>334426848
>Those are just from the other design
Oh, I hate them on the real-life Spitfire, Hurricane and Typhoon, too.
They just look stupid. I mean everyone else managed to put the guns into the wing, or into a gun pod, but NOOO, they have to go and stick them in there and then add a fuckhuge stupid gun barrel so it looks awful and stupid and ruin the lines of an aircraft like teh Spitfire.
Sorry.
>>
>>334426848
Alrighto! It's a really minor thing, but it did bother me a bit.
>>
>>334426848

>Designs produced within the Library, a large secret moon base for only the maddest of scientists and engineers, are often pushing the limits of what can be done with any given technology. One such design is the P-404, named after room 404 in the facility that it was designed in, nicknamed the Firespitter for the absolutely hellacious amount of fire it can throw at the enemy (for a total of about ten seconds before running out of ammo and charges).
>It is a push-pull design, with one forward facing and two rear facing engines, the pods of the latter form the housing for a number of weapons. All three engines are equipped with CRPs. The rear facing engines are modular in that their propellers are easily swapped for voldrives for aether travel. Alternatively all three engines may be swapped with jets or for any hybrid combination. Mounting points for RATO rockets or internally carried rocket boosters for combat are also built into the design. For piston engines it is equipped with turbo superchargers as well as two different kinds of WEP boost for both low and high altitude operations.
>Lastly an attachment point below the outboard engines allows for additional jets to be mounted for more power if needed
>The weapon mounts on the Spitter are built to take a variety of different guns or energy weapons as desired. The "standard" is as follows:
>>Outboard wing hardpoints (each side)
>1x Blueflare Mk I heavy volance
>1x Daybreaker 75mm recoilless revolver gun
>2x 20mm autocannons
>>Inboard wing hardpoints (each side)
>3x 12x R4M Orkan launchers integrated into the wings
>>Underwing points
>6x X-4 wire guided missiles to be controlled by an on board mechanical computer
>4x Tiny Tim rockets
>>central fuselage
>2x 50mm autocannons
>4x 30mm autocannons
>4x 20mm autocannons
>Fuel and ammo supplies with a proper endurance, cooling systems and maneuverability are certainly a thing that lesser aircraft need, yes.

These may sound like dumb or just strange questions but I'll ask anyways since you seem to be having zero luck so far tried running it under different comparability modes? Looked to see if you can disable any features of your video card? Maybe some graphics features to turn off in your MB?
If your using a audio card try switching to onboard sound?
Now for the strangest question if you have a joystick have you updated it or just unhooked it and disabled it from your system?
I ask because a long time ago the problem a friend of mine was having with MS flight was it didn't like his joysstick so it kept crashing till he updated some drivers for it. It made no sense why it was the problem but it worked.

It's a shame we never see FCU units in 7.
>>
>>334496547

More or less every track in the OST is a bop or a banger, maybe with menu music excepted (and sometimes not even then.) As good as AC soundtracks usually are I can usually find a track or two amongst every prior game's OST that falls short of the mark but I really don't think that's the case in AC7.

Right now I'm quite enjoying Long Day, I think it's just a fitting track for that kind of long-form score attack mission, with the added background of you trying to flex on Count who's competing with you and the 444 brass who expect for you to get shot down.

Watch the edge of your radar. Firing a weapon always breaks stealth, so you can (1) determine where the missile is going to come from, (2) fly towards the dickhead shooting it and kick their ass. (2) also reduces the missile's flight time by flying towards, which helps you avoid HVAA's bullshit delayed QAAM-tier homing.
>>

>did we land
Sure. We did. 6 times, from 1969 to 1972.
12 people were there. For a few hours, then for a day or two on the later missions.
Just to show that it could be done.

But now we're goign to actually learn how to stay. To actually use the time up therfe to learn all that is to learn, to develop the technologies and processes we need to go further.

>>334526582
NASA is not the problem. The US congress is.

>>334527102
Weeeeelll. . .it could be better. Like, it could be NOT on fire.
But for rocket testing, this is actually fine.
The main goal was to test the landing maneuvers, the aerodynamic controls, the thrusters (though the cold gas nitrogen thrusters are only an interim solution) and to get the engiens to reliably re-ignite in flight.
And they achieved that.

You have to look at this as what it actually is: A development prototype being tested to destruction.
And in rocket development, it used to be normal that the first three or five would literally explode on the pad, or during ascent. And that was after a dozen engine explosions on the test stand.
Even one of the most reliable boosters we have today, the Ariane 5, failed on the first launch due to a software error.

And they're trying to LAND A ROCKET here, with multiple engines lighting up and shuting down, and all the sensors and computers working in realtime, with literally zero tolerance for failure. Nobody else on this world actually does this, and SpaceX makes it look easy with the Falcon 9 on a weekly basis.

OK, yeah. Blue Origin is doing almost the same thing, with their suborbital toursim thing.
They will fly their New Glenn next year, but by that point Starship will have gone though orbital test flights.

So, is it normal? No. But in rocket testing, it is.

>If it's not a bother, what's their greatest priority in the test pipeline right now?
The curent test series was designed to see if the landing aerobatics work, and if you can do the flip and landing burn.

i.e. Starship is in free fall at termianl velocity, at 10 km altitude, belly down. It uses the flaps and attitude control thusters to control the flight path into a position where it can re-light the engines, turn itself upright, and soft land on a landing pad.

This proves that their landing concept works. Now they have to get it to a point where it works on time, every time.

The next things to test are oribtal flight and re-entry. They have used larger and larger sections of heat-shielding tiles on the last few prototypes, presumably to see how well they remiand attached during the tests, and to learn the process of attacking them.
They have already built a contruction prototype of their Supeaheavy booster, and will fly teh first prototpye of that later this year.

The next three Starships will lead up to the orbital testing part. Obviosuly, we do not really have a timetable for all that.

In a way, what we see here are 1930s mail flights and flying boats and the first few intercontinetal flights.
We know that the technology works. We know it can help everyone. But we're still decades away from a time where buying a plane ticket is little more than a bus or train ticket.
>>

desu i prefered the non-Merc ending where as far as you know literally everyone youve ever known died and Prez in all likelihood is dead or atleast permenantly disabled due to brain damage from such high-G if you took her or died back at base in the third Calamity Crimson 1 cause i have no doubt that him Cordium nuking Presidia caused another chain-reaction
kinda hit home the idea that even if Crimson 1 was just a fucking schizo by the end of the story if you didnt constantly persue total aerial supremacy it'd never of progressed that far, you wanted to be King and for it youll rule alone

only things that more or less facts it that Monarch joined Sicario around the same time as Comic and Diplomat, is Cascadian and that he isn't fighting for money anymore
headcanon but ive always liked to believe part of why Crimson 1 hates Monarch so much by Return is because he's ex-Peacekeeper/Crimson and considers him a traitor to Cascadia and the Federation, as well as explaining why the hell Monarch is so skilled compared to everyone else in Sicario and the war effort in the air

1 and 2 are extremely simple but they work for what they are, the contrast in tone is massive.
i noticd some odd similarities though, like the "inciation session" or "lost connection" when starting or quiting a mission
makes sense in 3 because its a simulation but its strange to see it in 2

Crimson wasn't wrong when he says that if it weren't for Sicaro and Monarch then the Federation could've easily put down the rebellion and the war wouldn't have escalated to that point
its the case of a villain having an understandable grievance but a certaint event makes them lose their minds and they go off the rails.

ive always personally believed Crimson 1 was rather levelheaded and quite smart pre-CoP, even noticing Monarch was far more skilled than anyone else and alerting as many people as he can even by putting messages in bulletins from HQ saying for everyone to watch out for mercenary pilots because one of them is fucking skilled
it's clear Crimson 1 genuinely loved Cascadia and honestly believed Cascadia would be safer and better under the Federation and i believe to see Cascadia devestated by a calamity caused by the Federation broke him, the other zealots in the Peacekeeprs playing on that to push him further and further until he finally snaps and goes out of his way to nuke Presidia to get a shot at killing Monarch as his caution regarding Monarch turned into an obsession, only truly coming to his sense one final time before he died at Monarch's hands asking him to remember him and his failures when Monarch's time finally comes
>>
>>334562554

Sure but just one thing its been quite a while since I heard these as in 2000-03 so I don't remember them all but I do remember a few one can't be posted on a blue board. lets just say it involves sailors on leave and a trip to an asian whore house in the 1960's. No plane stories I can remember he was a radar guy

I do remember one that I can post here
But first this one not so much a story just kind of neat to know
In the 60's some USN ships had a nice selection of soviet weapons in their armory. According to him the Ak's were the preferred gun for many of the sailors as it just handled better compared to their other gun choices on the ship.
As you were required to keep your shooting skills up then I'm its the same now
Yes they did try grenade fishing in the ocean. Throwing explosives into the water was a way to pass time

One has always stuck out the most as its both funny and gross I'll put the gross part in black box
How they dealt with the annoying guy that was assigned to the radar room. He was kind of a dick. So they started asking what kind of food he likes said he liked chocolate pie. One day they brought a glass pie plate to the radar room
A few guys grabbed him held him down while another held the glass pie plate right over his face and they held his eyes open. Next guy walks over drops his pants squats down and takes the biggest dump he can right into the pie dish. New guy is never an asshole to them again

to be fair it's mentioned that Monarch and Kaisar's relationship is akin to that of a Mercenary Lord and his Signture and iirc Kaisar is quite evasive when questioned if he has any relation to the Mercenary Cabal, so one interpretation of Monarch's backstory could be Kaisar or one of his relatives was a Lord and Monarch was their Signture during the Oceanic war only for them to both go dark and reappear under new identies as Sicario, Kaisar going out of his way to hide Monarch's identity by claiming Monarch joined at the same time as Diplomat and Comic rather than saying him and Monarch have been together since Sicario was founded

One change to MP that I'm really annoyed about is that you can't highlight players on the map via radio comms in Battle Royal anymore. I used to use it to call out stealth snipers, then watch the whole room chase them down like a weaker version of Allied Attack.

as for the war, it was over the second Crimson One caused the disaster, taking C1 on was Monarch's choice, it may of been better to deal with him there and then but it could of easily been dealt with later since even the Federation troops on the ground were clearly appalled by what he did so i'd imagine the Federation at large would hang him out to dry for putting the ceasefire into jeopardy

It's a load of bullshit and only exists to half ass some paper thin moral reasoning behind imperialism that doesn't hold up to scrutiny. The stability only exists in the hegemon and the states that cowtow to it. Instability pops up everywhere that doesn't bend the knee as the hegemon throws its weight around. And over time, the cost and resource drain of continuing to do so chips away at the hegemon itself as its military-industrial complex grows steadily out of control, until the people of the hegemon itself start getting disgruntled, which in turn leads to the hegemon using its "stability enforcement policies" on its own citizens.
