It's worse than that, friend. Any damage dealt to an enemy is counted as a kill when it dies. As scout I will sometimes just poke enemies with a single bullet from the assault rifle and end up with second place or sometimes even first for kills
Not because I actually killed anything at all, but because I dealt some amount of damage to every single thing that spawned
It's a hilariously bad system, and also why Engineer will almost always have "the most kills" as long as he remembers his turrets exist, because they'll tag everything that moves and add it to his kill count

unsure on specifics (i.e., I have no idea if weapons have unique aggro values or something), but in general being as close to a bulk as possible while dealing a lot of damage will make it prioritize you. Bulks specifically will pick one person at random to chase, but you can override it by being an easier target (closer), or dealing a fuckload of damage (like 20% of its health bar)
trying to do both is your best bet

mind you this is just based on my anecdotal experience playing the game, I don't have any code snippets or dev comments to back it up

It was THE meta build near the start of the game before they did any kind of balancing. Overpowered as fuck and an extreme crutch that brought legions of recruit-tier shitters into high difficulty matches where they were hopelessly outmatched if their crutch ever failed them. You know how the fucking elves are normally circle chasing retards who think that they're better than they actually are and constantly bite off more than they can chew? Wigglemancers made the elgi look like a paragon of a selfless teamplayer.

You know how "resourceful sharpshooter" can only proc once every 4 seconds? At the time that restriction wasn't in place. The wiggling came from the beam staff. Back then you would get an instant tick of damage the moment that the beam would touch an enemy. That instant tick came with its own roll to crit. So instead of holding the beam on target, you could rack ranged hits significantly faster by oscillating your aim over a target. This was the "wiggling"

A wigglemancer was a pyromancer who combined the old way that the beam staff worked with the resourceful shooter weapon trait, their burning head ult, and the talent that purged their overheat on ult cast. They would then wiggle their beamstaff around at everything and fire off burning head once every second or two.

Of course it's not worth chasing. But the point is that a proper achievement system gives the player some fun side goals to go after once they've exhausted the majority of the main game. It's extra content and can enhance the game.
The barrel minigame is neither interesting nor fun, so tying an achievement to it is just a joke, and it's annoying to see otherwise competent devs do something that stupid.

They can pull off the larp though. The equipment looks fitting on them. If you didn't know about the characters' existing backstories, there really wouldn't be any problem with any of them having been those careers in the first place.

Warrior Priests are big muscle dudes. Saltz is old and lanky. His prowess in combat comes does not come from raw strength, and his careers reflect that. For WHC it comes from experience and exacting precision. For BH it's a reliance upon firearms. For zealot it's an immeasurable threshold of pain endurance.

That's why the shitty steam tank meme makes more logical sense than warrior priest. Saltz doesn't need to change who he is to drive a tank. It's more believable then him running around in warrior priest plate while swinging a massive hammer around. Giving him a steam tank would be shit for a host of other reasons, but it would at least still be true to his character. That just underscores how shit of an idea Warrior Priest Saltz is.

I just came back this past week and have been babysitting a friend through champ, and there is too much healing in champ for anyone to stay in the grey for any significant period of time, much less for those kind of "share a medkit to get two people out of grey" scenarios to pop up.

Movespeed over +20% is really nice IF you have weapons that don't slow you down or even speed you up when swinging them. Like coghammer heavys, Great Axe heavys, Dual Axes, Dual Hammers etc. These boosts can get you out of sliding attack range when needed and generally outrun a horde. Great Axe with speed on trophy stacks, move speed on leap and on trinket can basically let you weave in and out of a horde without needing to push or block any attacks if timed right. Basically triggering enemy's stationary attacks and hitting them when out of their range with your range of the Great Axe while not backing off too far as to trigger running attacks.

Generally you simply fight all 4 and overcome everything together without needing to run away but shit hitting the fan or being left alone can have movespeed save you. It's also just fun going fast but beware enemies if you make beelines for them as they anticipate according to your speed and will swing to hit at your arrival even when going 300 miles per hour.

He's good, especially if your team can manage sniping specials. Since you have 2 melee slots better to equip one weapon for chaff and one for elites. Remember that despite 150 starting HP you are not tanky like other careers with the same HP since you have no damage reduxtion talents. If the team can handle gunners and warpfires then you can ditch shield weapons, if no then sword-board or bret shield is your go-to weapon against hordes and basic thp farm equipment (thp on stagger). Lvl 10 talents are debatable (3rd one is the worst because it's not power, it's damage). Strength pot talent is objectively better than alternatives, especially if you take concoction on charm. Double ult is nice but leaves you very open, not recommended using in tight situations, you can rmb second strike of course, but for cata I usually take horizontal swing.

He's good and fun.
He's a melee powerhouse with some extra defensive survivability if you use a shield (can block bullets and fire on him) and his talents are actually variable and let you build in different ways.
I personally go for mace and sword + Bret SnS for my loadout. Mace Sword shreds hordes and Bret SnS can do the blocking and special/elite killing. The weapons aren't super vs chaos warriors or bosses but the classes ultimate ability can clear fucking patrols and slap down CKs without much worry anyway. The talent that makes crits almost always instagib is so ludicrously powerful and makes the build really work.

Solid beatstick for every kruber. Best on Mercenary who can up its cleave, attack speed, and mobility. Good all rounder for the others. To be honest, the detonate on beam staff doesn't do a whole lot of damage. When I use detonate on UC, it's to get my heat up quickly. On BW, i rarely use it, since fire sword h1 spam settles everything. At most, i use detonate to add an extra dot to CWs when ult is down.

Beam staff shines on UC because you can get heat really quickly and shines on BW because of its ability to proc soot shield and synergy with famished flames that turns it into a brain dead boss killer.

One doubles your minigun ammo count while increasing fire rate up by 30% and decreasing damage down to 3 or 2.
Another just makes you able to fly and hover with bursts when firing down so you can avoid being swarmed, but cooling down from over heating is longer and it obviously takes premeditated timing for liftoff force to overpower speed of falling, ergo you can’t save yourself at the last second from hitting the ground from a high place.
Another overclock is just electric rounds that run on the power of your natural shield, but you can activate when this mini gun shoots electric rounds by pressing the reload key, so you can stun as many bugs as possible and hope you can kill them them all before then. And you can only do 5 damage with each bullet, and you have to wait for enough juice to charge the bullets for as long as it takes to fully regenerate your shield.
Another is super penetrating rounds that absolutely remove armor and go through 5 bugs at once, and through solid rock up to 1 m, but the minigun has only 1700 rounds and fires at 20 or 16 rpm compared to the normal 30 rpm
Another just allows the minigun to shoot jets of beer at the bugs in hopes of intoxicating and poisoning them to death. And you can shoot your dwarf buddies to heal at 3 health per hit but not revive them and also get them drunk if shot for more than 3 secs. Horribly bad at long range since it’s not hot lead.

On haz4/5 he requires 2 bullets to kill those shitty small enemies rather than 1, and that adds up to a lot of missed bugs surviving long enough to attack you.
It's pretty nice to not have to even think about swarmers or shockers at all as long as he has that upgrade. He deletes them before they can get anywhere near you, which means less ammo wasted, less enemies in your face and applying CC, and less time focusing on things that don't matter during a swarm.

Essentially, you're trading convenience during downtime for convenience under pressure.

It was crazy going back to BL1 recently. I remember that game blowing my fucking mind with my friends back when it launched. I played the remastered version and it was... Dull. I do remember even back then the games start was SUPER slow and boring. But even after that there's a ton of driving back and forth with not much happening. When the action is going down the game is top notch but between the action sections it can be a bit too quiet. If you don't mind that, then I say yeah it's a load of fun with friends.
BL2 is obviously better in almost every regard though.
I also enjoyed BL3, despite how much shit everyone gave it. Yes the plot was trash and the endgame is nonexistant, but the gunplay and crazy combats were fantastic.

General playstyle, I go standard dwarf. Once I got the Coghammer unlocks I switched to Greathammer or Shield. Ranged, handgun or masterwork pistol for specials.

Three main builds:
The big gun - Using the crankgun a lot
Armour Piercing Slugs - Steam Capacitors - Gromril Plated Shot
Primarily use the crankgun to shoot down elites at range and out of mixed groups. Can also shoot down hordes if you can keep cranking, depends positioning and on how much the team is willing to cover you. Optionally pair with drakefire pistols to help with horde killing, gunning down ambient enemies and the joys of no ammo.

The regular crankgun - Crankgun a medium amount.
Armour Piercing Slugs/Leading Shot - Steam Capacitors/Superior Gaskets - Ammo Hoppers
Use the crankgun to gun down incoming hordes, maulers/berserkers, sometimes a monster. If you are clear, open up in melee - good way to die if you're not careful.
Leading shot if you want to punch against larger single targets better; monsters, armoured rats, etc. Armour Piercing Slugs if you want to punch against hordes and mixed groups better.
Gaskets if you find you're supporting in melee more often and are using the crankgun less.

The pocket grudgeraker - Crankgun a minimal amount
Leading Shots - Gaskets - Compression Chamber
Use it like a grudgeraker. Shoot out maulers/beserkers, put a dent in a horde. Put it away, let gaskets do its work while you melee.

Korlok tyrant weed needs a rework or a nerf or literally any sort of fucking fix. Who the hell wants to spend 20+ minutes on a miniboss that gives no noticeable exp and can often spawn in the most fucked up sniper nest position on the map.
Sure it can take less than 5 minutes if your team can coordinate and everyone knows their class strengths but do you seriously think people have any capacity for teamwork when they can instead play scout and run in front of the weed turrets, taking every hit to the face and constantly getting downed in the worst wide open places. So then the time you could use actually doing damage to the core you're using to field medic children. And you want to get the scout back up since his rifle does such good damage on the core, but everytime the core is open, the scout is fucking down again. Also why is nobody putting priority on the healing pods? Why do I have to be in this loop of using a C4 to get the core to a rifle shot away from death and then it heals back up to a full stock in a matter of seconds. If anything, we need MORE bosses like this, and they need to be HARDER, and more frequent. People are bad at Korlok because it's so rare, they never have to think about it or practice it. Noobs get caught by surprise, die, and then never see it again for the next 50 missions.
We need events like this to be commonplace so that people will either shape up and become proper team players capable of handling actual scenarios that require actual teamwork, or they'll leave and stop wasting everyone's time.
Because face it, even as much as you might hate failing those boss fights, when you DO get those rotations where your team knows its shit and you kill that fucking plant in 60 seconds, it feels good as fuck. Stuff like that is absolute peak co-op gamefeel.

Getting 5 ammo on Fatboy is the single most important aspect. It increases ammo per resupply to 3/5 instead of 2/4. Giving a freeshot and more uses per mission.

AOE damage matters little because it won't hit a threshold of mattering. T2 damage gives +80 aoe damage up to 520-260 (max/min).
This means you don't kill anything new in the radius that doesn't already die form the radiation in the first place.

I always have used 2/1/2/2/X with proximity being a decent option, but really a matter of opinion.
max ammo is the best way to go, easily.

Interacting with a mini mule to see it's legs sounds pretty fucking useless to me since we already see them on the minimap.
Might help if you get a fucked up terrain generation but usually not an issue if your scout is actually doing his job.

I'm scared what the PE changes might be. I get that not everyone likes it but the small cave and fast objective made it great for farming out Cargo Crates and it's pretty jam packed with bug killing action compared to the minutes of walking and digging other missions can sport.

Elimination is pretty fucking boring most days. Taking forever to get around to the eggs then spending MORE time as your team levels shit out because they're too shit to fight a dreadnaught without favorable ground. I'm inclined towards the "regular crankgun" with armor piercing slugs and ammo hoppers.

People kept telling me that GPS would let that thing knock down CWs, but after looking at the damage breakpoint calculator it looks like you'd still need a STR pot to knock those down in any reasonable period of time. The standard chaingun obliterates any non-armored enemies, and can at least sandpaper SV in a relatively short period of time given its rate of fire. The reduced movement speed and short spin up delay with the gun makes it less safe than the average ranged weapon. With GPS, the low rate of fire IMO means you may be exposed for too long if the enemies that you need to kill aren't lined up for punch-through to knock them out simultaneously. With compression chamber, IMO it just eats up its ammo too fast and overkills the opponent in most cases, which might leave you lacking the ammo for a subsequent attack.

IMO what makes ammo hoppers shine is the larger pool of ammo. With the larger ammo pool, you can afford to "waste" shots on trash to clear out a safety zone before bringing the gun to bear on whatever threat prompted you to pull out the chaingun in the first place. Once you kill that threat, you'll probably still have enough ammo left over that it won't be a big deal if you can't afford the time to immediately re-crank the gun. Or, if that target was a special, you get 4 seconds of free ammo to almost certainly clear out a big enough space to buy you time to re-crank the gun. You want the piercing shot to guarantee that the chaingun can mulch all of the trash mobs that were supporting CWs. When it comes to masses of SV, your choice of ranged weapon may be a better option for clearing them out than the chaingun. For example, the masterwork pistol with the piercing shot talent knocks SV down with ease. The choice between gaskets and capacitors comes down to how often the user uses their chaingun.

I've been wanting some kind of ancient ruins biome for this game since it came out of alpha. God I hope we get it someday.

Thats the idea behind them, sure, but neither of them apply enough pressure to be taken seriously unless you somehow manage to get in close quarters with them (and even then the dreads are pushovers, but maybe the variants will change that)
The idea I want is an enemy that will make even the largest caves feel like close quarters, and they'll apply that pressure and horror that a bulk gives off when it's right next to you, regardless of where it is.
I want an enemy that I can be truly afraid of in this game. Something that perhaps isn't common, but when it shows up, you are FUCKED.

It's one of those sad weapons where you have to be really good to be able to enjoy them. If you only land headshots it's probably one of the most ammo efficient weapons in the game, but if you don't, it's efficiency tanks really hard.
