AC peaked there.
>>638467434It has the best gameplay and a top tier setting for sure
*Blocks your path.*
>>638467434Gameplay wise, for sure. The story and side content were pretty weak, tho, I liked Syndicate and Origins better in that regard. But Paris remains the best city in the series along Rome, imo.
>>638467434str8 faxxx
>>638467434>>638467623They’re both shit, AC peaked with Brotherhood and Revelations and Black Flag was its swan song
>>638467434Zooms can't appreciate Unity because you need the context of earlier games to get it, and they never played those. Boomers can't appreciate Unity because it was buggy on release somewhat and apparently that's enough to hold a grudge against a game forever>>638468886Black Flag is a novelty game. I replayed it recently and now that the naval stuff isn't impressive anymore I could clearly see how mediocre that game is. AC3 butchered AC gameplay and AC4 retains that butchered core. Nice story though I guess.
2 is the only one I liked, and I probably wouldn't like it today because the formula is tired as fuck, it was only fun once
>>638467434im 45 hours into valhalla and still loving iti guess i'm not contrarian enough to dislike it
>>638470261Nah I replayed it recently it was fun. Great locations, great pacing and a nice story.>formula is tired as fuckIt was last used in Unity almost a decade ago. Nu-AC has downgraded every AC gameplay element so much that going back to 2 feels like a huge improvement.
>>638470350What's there to love? I finished every single AC but Valhalla just felt horrible to me. Gameplay got worse yet again and the map is just bizarre, it's neither realistic nor interesting, it's just shit. And I liked the last two. Have you played those? Maybe you just don't realize how horrible Valhalla is in comparison
>>638470446I will never do another AC trailing mission, if I could mod them out of 2 I might play it again but I don't think that has been done
>>638470607i'm a viking raiding and pillaging every location in sightpretty fun time to meits like skyrim with good graphics but no dragons or qizards
>>638467434This is why having a good launch matters a lot. If your game gets dunked on at launch for bugs, nobody is going to care if the game underneath is actually good.
>>638470805>its like skyrim with good graphics:)
Unity was the worst game
>>638471082Arkham Knight has been redeemed and that game launched in an even worse state
>UnityGrabage.>Black FlagOverrated.>3Dull.>BrotherhoodKino.
>>638467434The story was little boring.
>>638467434>Series peaked with the buggiest, most rushed launch in the entire seriesSure thing, whatever floats your boat
>>638471540>a game is its launch
brotherhood was great but man did they have to make the last bit a cesare fail compilation
>>638467434>60 FPS on Xbox Series X>Still a LOT of players in co-op
>>638467434I played all the AC games on release and I don't get the appeal of Brotherhood and Revelations. The former feels like it takes AC2 and stuffed it in a cramped space, the latter departed from the other Ezio games so much in terms of aesthetics and tone that it was a jarring transition. The minigames and new tools in Revelations were whatever too, and it's where the modern day story went to shit.Black Flag is okay but it's really not an AC game.
AC peaked with the first game that wasn’t even that good. It showed some promise but was utterly copypasted. After that Ubi had completely lost the plot. AC2 was a fucking mess that didn’t know which game it wanted to be. Prince of Persia? That stealth game that the first one *tried* to be? An RPG? A fucking Uncharted clone? The story was fluffed the fuck out and didn’t make any sense, how the FUCK would some Italian guy become a cosplayer of some medieval arab jackasses?! And that’s the holy grail of the series. Anything past that one is worse and has even less to do with these arab assassins
>>638471738for probably a good 70% of everyone who's ever played it, it was
>>638472072Brotherhood was planned the entire time, only because Rome was too large a city, even though all of the games compresses the cities massively.Revelations was supposed to be a 3DS game, but got pushed up in development to be a mainline entry. Both games are polished to the point where they both improved on 2 massively, and Revelations in particular has some of the best scripted sequences in the series.
>>638471238>Arkham KnightUnfair comparison. It had a superb launch on consoles, the PC version was disastrous. Meanwhile AC Unity during launch was horrible on ALL platforms.
i liked the greece oneit was like 4 without all the eavesdropping and tailing bullshit.
>>638467623Last AC game I enjoyed. Even when it had basically nothing to do with AC. Killing the black guy was a bit of a gut punch.
>>6384706742 actually doesnt have as much of the retarded AC bullshit as the later ones do, there are still tailing but its nowhere near as much as the later titles. Something snapped between 2 and Brotherhood that made ubi go retarded
Nobody under 30 gives a fuck about AC, it's on the same level as FIFA and Madden.
>>638467434I want to say it peaked at Syndicate but I am biased because I love me a Victorian era city. Unity is a very close second for me though. Funny enough, Unity seemed as though it were better graphically despite being the older title.
>>638472785They scaled back the graphics on Syndicate, only because Unity ran like ass on last-gen consoles (and now Unity is 60 FPS on Xbox Series X, and until recently on PS5, Syndicate had severe flickering with shadows, to the point where Sony demanded that Ubisoft patch it if they wanted Ubisoft+ on the PS5).
Beginners question:Which of the AC games has the best, most immersive stealth?
>>638473098>Stealth>Instead of just running in and slaughtering everyone until they run away terrifiedWhy bother with stealth when the AI was retarded ever since 1?
>>638471082no mans sky
>>638471329whats bad about unity?
>>638472978Good to see it can finally be appreciated on better hardware.
>>638473098none of them really, you can be a bit stealthy but the systems aren't really suited for it and the early games tend to be very setpiece-y with regards to killing the targets. you can see where it started as a prince of persia spinoff game and was turned into what it is.
>>638467434>peak slop
>start unity>get bored immediately after i climb my first tower
>>638467434not sure if thats the peak but it was the last good one for sure
>>638467434Nah. The franchise peaked with the Ezio trilogy up until AC4.That being said, Unity in its current state has the best gameplay in the franchise without a doubt.
>>638467434>Great setting>Terrible, meandering, overly-long storySetting during the French Revolution was awesome and I really wanted to beat it but holy Christ does it spend a lot of time doing fucking nothing. The characters just aren't likable enough to carry its boring ass plot.
>>638469292>Boomers can't appreciate Unity because it was buggy on release somewhat and apparently that's enough to hold a grudge against a game foreverI'm a boomer who played Unity years after release and it had no bugs and I loved it.
>>638473447Assassin's Creed 1 was never remade for PS4 or PS5. It's backwards compatible with the Xbox One/Series X, and it's 4K 60 FPS on top of that.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXNIm2nS1r4This is still the original Xbox 360 version, by the way. All games made for Xbox One (including the remasters of of the Ezio Trilogy, 3, Liberation, and Rogue), and excluding 4 (for whatever reason) are all now 60 FPS.Xbox is the way to go for the series, and Microsoft and Ubisoft are still retarded for not allowing for an FPS or 4K boost to those games. They did that for the Splinter Cell titles (and yet, 1, Pandora Tomorrow, and Version 2 of Double Agent are delisted for some reason).
>>638467434Truthfully, Ass Creed II and it's first sequel.
My issue is that the setting didn't really feel like France, it just felt like generic, dirty European city in that time period. The landmarks and architecture aren't strikingly unique like other ones from other games, there's a lighting grading that makes it look hazy or sunset/sunrise always, and relatively little of consequence even happens in the plot and side quests. You have no idea other than being told that it's France in the revolution, that it's France in the revolution
>>638467434>literally unplayable if you are walking slowly or crouching because of how much it prioritizes animations over gameplay
>>638474145>the setting didn't really feel like France, it just felt like generic, dirty European city in that time period.
>>638473375It continued the retarded subversion plot from Rogue where the game tries to act like Arno and Elise are the first people to ask “why are we fighting?” After over a thousand years. While also trying to act like the Templars goal isn’t totally fucked.
You guys DID play it with the French dub, right? It makes it feel so much more immersive.
>>638468886BASED and EZIOPILLED.
>>638475227Absolutely. I always go for the dub of wherever the story takes place in any game if it's available.
>>638467434Story was very disappointing and it didn't utilize Paris nearly as well as it could have. Seriously french-revolution Paris had SO MUCH opportunity for kino that this is a huge letdown. great job on the city though.
>base game showed him as ambitious and opportunistic but also a reasonable ally>DLC turned him into another dumb villainWhy?
The only relevant thing is: to this day, Black Flag is still awful. Only AC3 managed to be worse.
>>638474145What kills it for me is they don't have everyone putting on shitty French accents. It's a surprisingly huge part of the immersion.
>>638467434AC peaked with Brotherhood and everything after the Ezio games is a waste of time. AC2 is the only game of the franchise that'd actually be worth making a remake of, mostly to update the graphics.
>>638476350Play it with the French dub, fool

>>638467623I like Boston and New York in this game, the Arctic setting is nice, but they neutered the sailing aspect. Sailing through winding rivers just isn't the same as the open ocean.

>>638467434It peaked right here, with Flamel’s Elixir side quest, which was the point where Ubisoft accidentally fully realized the amazing potential of the franchise and the open world format and they never dared to make that mistake again because God forbid they do anything good.
>>638479434>reductive faggots like Unitypottery
>>638479935To explain further, the first assassination mission of the game has you entering Notre Dame Cathedral. There are three ways of entry, those being entering through the guarded front door, entering through an open door at the top of the cathedral, or opening a locked window by stealing a key from a wandering guardsman or picking it if you have the skill. This Hitman-esque design is rather basic here, but it is a first for the franchise. However, there is actually a fourth entry point that is never directly mentioned. One of the earliest side quests in the game has you tasked with finding the secret laboratory of alchemist Nicolas Flamel. This requires the assembly of a mechanism that unlocks the gate for you. However, it also unlocks a secret passage that leads into Notre Dame. This passage isn’t necessary for the completion of the side quest and you would not know this unless you paid attention to the map on the wall during the side mission as it is never mentioned otherwise. It is entirely useless for anything except covertly entering Notre Dame. As it is a secret, the passage is completely unguarded and leads you straight to your target for an easy kill.Imagine if the entire game was like this, where each side quest gave you a shortcut or an interaction instead of XP and money. All these seemingly unconnected and insulated quest lines slightly freeing up the world so when an assassination does come along so does the opportunity to exercise these previously inconsequential rewards. Of course, had you done the Flamel quest after the assassination, then there is no benefit, but that is no excuse to not have it. Unfortunately for the game, this is the only quest of its kind I could find and the rest of the missions are as linear as they were before. Not unlike the real Notre Dame, Unity suffered from structural failure.
Still one of my favorite AC weapons. 3 wasn't the best one but it had its charm
>>6384847063 was such a weird game all around.
I like Unity's armor customization and weapon selection but the gameplay is terrible with how clunky and unresponsive the control are.
>>638467434Why would I admit something I've been saying for years now? Unity and AC1 are the only ones that actually focused on you being an assassin first and foremost.>>638467623>the colonial Brotherhood is destroyed because two retards couldn't sit down and talk like adults after not seeing each other for almost a year
>>638467434How good do you guys think mirage will be?
>>638487301Awful.
>>638467623Not with that story, characters, and rushed combat progression it isn't.
I played all of the "original" ones before they became RPGS, and honestly my favorite was Syndicate. It just felt the less bloated and I enoyed the time period and dual protagonists.
>>638476098tbf, given what Napoleon was becoming or rather destined to become, it would make sense to make him a villain to the Assassins. I guess the problem lies within its execution. The Assassins for the most part don't like authoritarian dictatorships, and considering Napoleon attempted to reintroduce slavery into Haiti, and turned the French republic into an empire, you could probably guess that the Assassins wouldn't take too kindly to this. >>638476953No one with a brain should give a fuck what a bunch of wannabe ethnostatists, fascist dickriders, grifters and school shooters should say about anything.
>>638476098Did you miss how he hid the Apple from Arno when he found it during the main story and how Isu technology drives people without Isu DNA insane?
>>638467434In terms of stealth and parkour, it was a very fun game. The setting was also fantastic- sadly its story was lacking. I'd say my favourite games from the series would be>Origins Exploring Late Ptolemiac egypt was fun as hell, and traversing riverlands to deserts was always a treat. God tier soundtrack, and the combat was fun enough. >Black FlagGood ol' fashioned Pirate Game. Good story, fun exploration and a great naval combat system The Ezio games were also fun. Personally Im just hoping that Mirage delivers.
>>638467434It's the worse one although it's probably better than AC1 because it's not that old. I finished them all, 4 and Odyssey are the best.
>>638484706What's the best way to play 3? How bad is the remaster?
>>638489149>How bad is the remaster?Bad
>>638489149Really bad. There's no reason to play it if you have access to the original. The whistling in grass, realtime quick select, and drastic slimming down of the lockpicking minigame do not make it better.>Introduces significantly more glitches than the original without fixing any of the original glitches.>Ruins Haytham's final scenes because it applies chromatic aberration, blurring, and bloom out the ass.>Lighting is a complete mess with people's faces being blown out, barely visible, covered in fog, or like a wax statue.>Lighting is so broken in areas that it looks like picture related.>Campfires, candles, and campfires are so bright it's like someone is shining a 20,000 lumen flashlight at you from that direction and when you are near them the light virtually blots out the surrounding environment it's so overwhelming.>Interiors will have completely broken lighting to the point that the Homestead tavern has entire portions of the interior pitch black.>Interios randomly get filled with fog and it looks retarded.>Framerate is far worse even on high-end consoles somehow.>They didn't make any of the annoying 100% sync requirements easier like chasing CHARLES LEE or the ship powder keg nonsense.>ToKW still has all the original glitches including the 100% breaking ones. Before you ask, Liberation HD is still the same as the arcade release and still has the same glitches but it looks identical to the original arcade release. The Ezio Collection's remaster of 2 is still complete garbage even after all the patches, but its remasters of Brotherhood and Revelations are fine, there's no issues at all and those versions are better than the original releases due to having all the console-exclusive and uPlay exclusive content.
