The game needed to make the grab launcher a light attack finisher and instead give you a heavy-hitter counter with heavy attack.

The game is so easy you don't really need to use parry but I think it was a mistake making it a core mechanic because that's probably why they made it so easy and good, all while having a stupid good dodge as well.

I really loved it and how it really feels like the director's vision, having been pitched with the Don't Stop Me Now scene from Shaun of the Dead and the phrase "SEGA Blue Sky aesthetic". My biggest issue is that replays currently are a bit of a slog with all the unskippable segments designed for a first run, and also some of the original music is just okay (some of it is great and most of the licensed music is excellent in how it's used but some stages just don't have memorable tracks).>>631346161This game has one of the strongest parries I've ever seen, the window is pretty wide and 98% of attacks will land on the beat with a windup and audiovisual cue the beat before OR be multi-hit attacks you can mash parry during as long as you time the first one. It's a test of your rhythm and your ability to keep the rhythm while multi-tasking, not a tight reactionary defensive mechanic. WA-ES-2 and Kale Phase 3 making you parry on the offbeat is one of the only times the game makes you really work to parry properly. Then if you Directional Parry you get free i-frames and more benefits if you slot in chips for it. The only way it would be easier would be if parrying was tied to attacking like in Revengeance.
