I cant even remember what game I was playing, but the only time I broke a controller I threw a 360 xbox controller I used for literally 10+ years against the wall. I was aiming towards a giant pillow on my bed, like 3ftx4ft pillow, somehow in my anger screwed my aim, and I hit the wall just above the pillow.
It landed on it's face, and both joysticks shattered into a thousand different little pieces.

Whenever I find myself getting angry at a video game I always make sure to put it down and go do something else before it goes any further. Used to get properly mad at vidya sometimes and keep (figuratively) bashing my head against the wall when the game was going really shitty but over time I conditioned myself to just take a deep breath and put it down because it's not worth it.
