Best controller on the market right now.
>>
>>608137864
It's annoying to use in pc and constantly disconnects if it gets bumped
might be a personal issue though
>>
For 3D controls, certainly, but the D-Pad is too far in for extended use in 2D controlled games.
>>
>>608137864
I like the big face buttons, but the dpad is garbage and I dislike just how much the joysticks travel to full input
>>
>>608137864
Qrd me on what makes this better than an xbox controller, its the exact same layout
>>
Switchfags showing their brainwashing again
>>
>>608137864
That's not the Xbox Series S/X controller.
>>
>>608137864
thats a fake, but yeah the pro controller is pretty great
https://gulikit.com/productinfo/737791.html
i splooged on this, its pretty much a better pro controller and thats me migrating from the official switch pro, i was starting to get weird drift but only on pc.
my only dislike of the guili is that is smaller in the hand than the pro and i had to mod the buttons to change the way they felt which was a pita, the discussion around buttons sticking is true and i noticed it not even more than a day of use, modding them is simple enough once its open and making the buttons linear is pure sex. if youre gonna get one id recommend getting a spare pair of switches so you can go ham on one without worrying about screwing it
>>

>>
>>608137864
i'm way too used to the xbox positioning of ABXY to ever be able to pick up a nintendo controller again
>>
>>608138289
kinda fucked how they're $70 and you still need to mod them
>>
>>608137864
what makes it the best?
Is it better than the xbox and ps5 controllers?
Is the powerA ones just as good?
>>
>>608138114
Control stick sits closer to the ball of your thumb since you grip it a little lower, better button layout with lots of room and big buttons that make pressing multiple buttons feel much easier, it's lighter, it has much better battery life, and it has gyro if that matters to you.

The XBox has better DPad placement, triggers, and PC compatability.
>>
>>608138356
yeah, it has 4 modes, switch, xinput, android, dinput
>>608138356
eh, what can you do, i got it for cheaper than i would pay for an xbone controller and it has the bonus of being usable on switch
>full gyro
>hal analog triggers
>hal joysticks (essentially youll never get stick drift) and they are hands down the most accurate sticks that exist no contest, average error rate is 0.5 compared to switch pros 5-6%
>mechanical buttons (somewhat similar to a tactile keyboard, with a simple mod you can make them linear, the controller is a bitch to open though)
there are a fair couple of reviews that break them down well. that same company has made hal steam deck joysticks, im crossing my fingers they do the same for the index, those sticks are garbage
>>
>>608139330
the second part was meant for >>608138419
>>
my pro con's left stick AND d-pad are fucked
>>
8bit do pro 2
>>
>>608138289
The only thing that stops me from buying it is the battery. I hate wireless shit. Can I literally rip the battery off and still be able to play by wire?
>>
>>608137864
*arm wiggles*
>>
it's the best 1st party controller by a long shot, but mostly due to the fact that the others fail miserably in the QA department. the procon isn't perfect by any means, ghost dpad up presses still sour me on the thing and digital triggers kinda suck.
best overall is whatevers the latest and greatest 8bitdo, I can't believe the big plastic gamebox companies get away with selling their trash for 70 bucks.
>>
It's alright but it also suffers from some drift too.
>>
The Dpad is fucking garbage being able to input up and down or left and right at the. same time, and they never consistently fixed it (xenoblade 2 controller fixes it, every other controller is $70 russian roulette)

Cool if you wanna do unintentional TAS strats but trash otherwise

Also the triggers feel terrible and the back of it could really use a lip on the edge instead of nothing for grip. But otherwise it’s alright 6.5/10 controller anything higher is Nintendo fan delusion.
>>
how is it that this controller has the greatest battery life of all the newer gen console controllers?
>>
>>608138289
>100% no dead zone
Holy fuck. Enjoy buying a new controller every four months
>>
>>608137864
Too expensive. Back in my days, you could buy an extra controller really cheap.
>>
>>608139756
Battery tech is intentionally hampered by most companies. Your devices COULD have twice the capacity, but then we can't sell you replacements in 3 years time
>>
My pro controller slow turns on one stick and drifts on the other, the rubber on the sticks has become warped, and the sync button literally broke off of the PCB.
>>
>>608140171
The reason Nintendo devices all have stick drift is because they're made in Tokyo
>>
>>608139517
funny you mention that, i didnt bother mentioning it in my post but i had extreme grief opening up the controller because i fucked up the battery (my own fault kinda) but my luck stat somehow made my monkeying fix it - i tried pluging it in without the battery and im not confident but i dont think it would work without the battery plugged in, it was flashing a light but wasnt registering input
im going to be very vauge because in my two hours of troubleshooting the details got hazy, but i believe the controller wont turn itself on unless a specific ribbon controller is connected, which was a troubleshooting pain for its own reasons and the controller MAY of been set to android further fucking with a lot of it
i cant be certain but i wouldnt trust the controller to work without a connected battery, that said i exclusively use it through usb on my pc since all my connections to it are by wire

Not even close, Xbone controller is the GOAT. Will never buy an Xbox console but the controllers are great.
>>
>>608141789
Depends. If you only have one controller, then I would suggest a new XBox controller, unless you play mostly 2D games or RPGs, then I would suggest a PS4 controller (PS5 controllers apparently have a shit shelf life).

Here it is. The best controller of all time.

See that Dpad? Nintendo DS. Original.
Triggers? Xbox. One.
Gamecube buttons. Perfect.
PS5 Grip. Tender. Emaculate.
PS4 touchpad? Can't go wrong.
Sticks? You know it.
>>
>>608142129
Steam supports it natively, it still sucks.
>>
>>608142695
where are the sticks from ?
>>
>>608137864
I like xbox controllers because i just plug them into my pc and they just work, no need to mess around with steams controller settings or messing with games so they show the right button prompts.
>>
>>608142343
I think I might get the ps4 controller. I mostly play action games and lately a fuckton of Project Diva. I really hope it lasts as much as this wired 360 controller. I swear this controller has been with me for more than 12 years.

>>
dualsense is best
>>
>>608141789
You are quite literally in the same boat as I am. I wanted a newer controller since my Xbox 360 controller is over 11 years old at this point. I went with a Duelsense controller over an Xbox One controller simply because I grew up playing the ps2, and that controller also had symmetry of the analog sticks.
The controller feels really nice. I had to rest up for work last night before I could actually use it, but it was weighty in the hands. The one other thing I noticed was that the face buttons seemed smaller than both my duelshock 2 and 360 controllers.
>>

>Xbox 360 controller is over 11 years old at this point
I mean controllers do tend to last with me (more than my retarded friends that are always complaining), but that's way over what's expected. What do you do? Do you change parts, always tinkering and cleaning stuff? Because the cleaning I do, but that's about it.
>>
>>608147272
Bro, are you me? Lmaoo
But if I were to pick one, I'd rather a ps4 controller. Ps5 seems too overkill imo, also that whole haptic shittery needs to be configured to hell and back if you plan to use it on pc (or so I heard) Also the price is bonkers and I'm kind of on a budget right now.
>>
>>608141789
Honestly I use the dualsense for almost everything now, because bumper and dpad are better than xbox. Everything else is the same

I mean... I simply don't play games that use a controller that often. My gaming "diet" is a lot less varied than I'd like to admit, mostly Tf2, Bloons and Deep Rock. But when I do wanna use one for upcoming games I'm gonna play like Spider-Man and Dark Souls, I think I'm gonna want something nicer than an extremely outdated controller. I mean, theres nothing wrong with my gamestop white Xbox controller, but... IDK. Just felt like I wanted an upgrade.

Moreso "either you get this size of battery or you get to live with the controller being way bigger" because energy density of li-ion cells can only be stretched so much in so-and-so form factor

I've never really liked the feel of the xbox controller. How does the PS5 controller feel in terms of ergonomics?
>>
>>608163151
Feels pretty good in the hands, has a nice shape to it and the buttons feel good. Those adaptive triggers it has on L2/R2 are really fucking cool when they're working, feeling push-back on a button to simulate a trigger or other resistive force would have made me coom as a kid.
>>
>>608161280
Same. It's killed any sense of enjoyment for me, except slower games like Skyrim. And all of the fuckers here pretending it doesn't exist are worse than MS themselves.

It's nice minus the obviously awful d-pad
>>

I can't see paddles becoming a standard control feature without giving people button overload. I use the ones on my Steam Deck mostly for quick L2/R2 presses or for flippers on pinball games.
>>
>>608165625
They would have some resistance like the triggers, no one press the triggers by accident. It is all a matter of having a proper R&D when doing the design.
>>
I prefer the pro controller's triggers. They feel more responsive.
>>
>>608165935
my forefingers rest passively on the triggers, whereas i'm actively applying pressure to the back of the controller in order to hold it and use it

Dpad sucks. Any dpad that is a cross or has buttons connected to each other in any way sucks massive cocks and will lead to unintentional input in some way.
The dpad on joy cons is unironically the best dpad ever and there is no reason it shouldn't be a standard. Historical implementations are what's holding companies from fully devoting to this type of layout.

>analog triggers
Whats this 2002? Literally no game but racing games and mgs2/3 benefit from this shit. Its always a slower chore in action games and pretty much any other genre than racing games. Nintendo got it right.
It was done 20 years ago because it was NEW but now with the hindsight of 20 years of experience we can 100% say they are not only useful but in fact worse for the majority of the games.

>>608188607

>finer grain input control is worse than a digital on or off input
In no universe is this true, especially not when steam input exists and it can be configured as multiple buttons base on pressure sensitivity. The only thing better is dual stage triggers like the gamecube and steam controller have.
>>
>>608189107
How'd the analog face-buttons on PS2 go, friend
>>
>>608189196
People who want multiple stages of input on anything more than the triggers are fucking loons, I hated the pressure-sensitive buttons on PS2 for MGS3 and was very glad that the rereleases of it did away with all that.
>>
>>608141789
PS4 controller is absolute dogshit, the microUSB port will kill itself after 1 year tops. And you need to connect it via cable because the battery life is dogshit but more importantly because otherwise windows won't recognize the controller's inputs. Get the PS5 controller instead, it uses USB-C.
>>
I kind of hate that the switch pro controller allows for USB input because when I'm playing my switch at my desk I keep wanting to charge it by plugging it into my PC, but then that just makes it start flipping the fuck out because it can't decide if it wants to be paired with the switch or connect to the PC.
>>
>>608189474
plug it into the usb port on the dock
>>
>>608189214
>>608189276
Just because developers don't make use of them doesn't make more control options a bad thing, especially not when they are purely an addition that doesn't interfere with regular controls.

Having dual stage triggers is amazing, especially in games where you can hold your breath while aiming so you can bind a half trigger pull to steady aim and a full pull to fire. In the case of the steam controller, one of the things valve bragged about was half pull bound to ADS, full pull to fire so you effectively freed up the left trigger for whatever you wanted, i.e another action layer. Digital triggers in 2022 is an indefensible regression.

>>608189606
Digital buttons simply feel better to press. This isn't a case where there is an harmless option available for the small percentage of developers or players that go out of their way to take advantage of it. It is a niche option that makes the controller slightly worse for the vast majority of people, but at the same time it is essentially required anyway since you don't just want to wipe out racing games. What we actually need are analog triggers with the option to activate a stopper that give the tactile feel of a digital button on every controller so that your post about having options will hold 100%.
>>
>>608192464
>What we actually need are analog triggers with the option to activate a stopper
Triggers feel fine to press. Dual stage triggers with a tactile button press at the end feel even better. There's no need for some mechanical contraption to give the triggers two different tactile states. Dual stage triggers should be standard. I don't understand why basically no controller since the gamecube does it.
>>
>>608192843
It shouldn't be that expensive to add and would simply be an option. Without it, I will have no choice but to continue to defend digital triggers since they have more benefit to me.

>>
>>608192843
You fucking retard, having to hold down the analog triggers down is slower for most paced action games. On off switch is faster and gives a better response
>but what if someone wants to do MGS2 again!
No one does. It literally interferes and its worse with all gaming genres but racing and mgs2/3. If anything analog triggers was a left over from 3 generations ago when they had to put the analog meme into everything.that went completely out of fashion and its 100% unused but in racing games.
>>
>>608189196
Fighting games, stylish action games, arcade type games, ryhtm games anything thats a fast input game gets fucked by the slowness of analog triggers.
>>
>>608142695
