Why does Kojima fetishize brands so much?
>>
>>574475536
because he is a brand
>>
>>574475536
rent free
>>
>>574475536
low iq.
>>
>>574475536
because he is a hack
>>
>>574475536
Psssst, sip. Yeah that was a good game.
>>
its funny

also free money
>>
>>574475536
because they pay for it
>>
>>574475536
>fetishize

Do you know what fetish means? No you obviously don't. He got paid to promote a brand, that's all there is to it. It's not a fetish.
>>
>>574475536
because he's a spineless, bow-legged jap
>>
>>574475536
Because humans do.
They're familiar and people are emotionally invested in them.
Americans are not actual human beings, they're consumers. They love their brands.
>>
>>574475536
Do you know what product placement is? They pay Kojima millions of dollars to put their brands in his game.
>>
>>574475536
because he likes money
uhhh i mean hes a dirt jap chink gook hack who makes garbo games and hes a chud
>>
>>574475536
>dude, labels on everything, its just like real life
>>
>>574475536
does he
>>
Because Japs are massive consoomers
>>
>>574477483
Is this a schizo post again?
>>
>>574475536
Japs have a different commercial culture. In the west if a famous person promotes good it is selling out and bad. In Japan it is a something to be impressed about. As in, "Oh wow, that person is so big that even X brand wanted them to promote their goods."
>>
>>574475536
because he posts on twitter everyday like a zoomer
>>
>>574477183
>Do you know what fetish means?
Do you, esl coomer?
>fetishize
>/ˈfɛtJʃʌJz/
>have an excessive and irrational commitment to (something).
>>
>>574475536
The promotion deal with monster is finished so the newly released director’s cut doesn’t feature it. Just a fake brand from in universe. So weird
>>
>>574475536
Everything about Death Stranding is a strange dystopian fever dream where corps are the good guys, it's weird.
It's as if kojima read a bunch of cyberpunk novels and then thought "but what if Tyrell corporation was full of good guys, actually?" and then you have creepy shit like the messages that play when running into stickers, or the weird ass sanitized sexless world of DS, and how nobody ever leaves their house and huddles around the walls offered by the big corps.
>>
>>574478894
The big corporation in this game do some almost comically evil shit. They have some good people working for them but that's true for the Tyrell corporation too.
>>
>>574475536
Monster is awful aside from their Mango JUICED and their coffee ones. Me, I'm a Redbull kind of guy. Love my 16oz's.
>>
>>574479286
It's more about how everything's presented. I'm still spinning my wheels in the mid game, so I definitely haven't seen the obviously "bridges was evil all along" twist, but of course stuff like the way they dispose of BBs and how matter of factly and mundane it's seen jump out.

>>
>>574479387
Even in real life people are happy to gloss over a corporation committing a few atrocities if it benefits them in some way.
The people in DS at least have an excuse since they don't have much of a choice, either you work with Bridges and just accept their questionable acts or you're on your own.
>>
>>574475536
They removed those in the directors cut you know.
>>
>>574480024
What I don't know is if Kojima intended for these creepy undertones to be there, or if he's just japanese.

Never seen such bad taste
>>
>>574478682
Considering Monster got removed from the Director's Cut, no, I don't believe he does have a fetish for it.
>>
>>574475536
It put a smile on my face every time he grabbed a nice big can of sips and chugged away. Kojima most likely had a twitter shitposting account and was aware of the sips meme and knew his audience.
>>
>>574480208
>Considering Monster got removed from the Director's Cut,
Soulless
>>
>>574479387
>>574480097
a point of the game is eventually a blunt "government bad, corporation bad" and that the state of the world is partly due to this, and otherwise notably good people will be doing soulless and sometimes evil shit for the sake of the government/corporation. basically "don't lose yourself, your personal convictions, your family, etc. to your work and to corporate/government ideology". it's a very realistic albeit schizophrenically presented plot.

it's also very aggressively anti-abortion which is pretty based for a modern media product.

Cause license went out, monster didnt wanna go another round

>>574480481
I'll have to finish the whole thing before I can judge.
What I'm mostly wondering about is just how much input did kojima have over the delivery of stuff like "keep on keeping on" and similar throwaway lines that have really been pushing that creepy feeling of the world so far.
Maybe in his mind they were meant to be real cheering messages rather than the dystopian slogans they come off as.
>>
he thinks it will make him american
>>

They pay him a lot to

>"Regarding the collaborations, I have one reason for doing them. It's because I want to surprise players. If the surprise and freshness were lost, I would stop the collaborations. It's different from Hollywood-style merchandizing."
>>
>>574480706
it's supposed to be both desu. it's human nature trying to function and express itself within the genuinely soulless and self-destructive environment of a corporatocracy.
>>
>>574475536
real brands make the games feel more real, even if just for 1 split second.
>>
>>574481257
>post-apocalyptic world
>shitty energy drinks with branding still exist
>>
I was ok with monster product placement because it was so comical. The idea that Sam walked America coast to coast sustained by nothing but energy drinks is just hilarious. If it was the white monster the memes would’ve been perhaps too much.
>>
>>574481740
Sam's canteen being able to transform metal corroding, matter aging rainwater into MONSTER(tm) brand energy drink was hilarious, intentional or not.
>>
>>574481928
Also the fact that in order to get stamina buffs you needed to drink 3 cans whenever you rested in a private room. I’m pretty sure the real life cans specifically have a warning saying don’t consume more than x-amount per day.

Maybe Kojima’s next game will have heart attack mechanics. I only ever triggered it once, but drinking too much out in world can make Sam need to piss, he’ll start saying he needs to go, and if you leave it too long he starts hunching over and can barely walk

>>
>get blank check from Sony to make a game
>still put advertising in the game

What did he mean by this?
>>
>>574482367
If you thought him pulling out his busted toenails was bad, get ready for the "You drank a fourth can and now have to pass a kidney stone" QTE in Death Stranding 2.
Heartman will then turn it into a grenade
