I really hope that Fromsoft doesn't bother or really care about pvp and instead spends more time making an interesting pve experience. Invasions are fun and everything, but they tend to get stale eventually and pvp 1v1 shit is boring and never as deep or as interesting as people pretend it is.

It's actually funny, the one person I know who LOVES souls pvp is the biggest casual I know. He's fat, physically handicapped, his vision is considered so poor that he can't drive, and every other pvp game he plays he can't stand because of how bad he is at competitive shit, but Dark Souls pvp for some reason is perfect for his casual autism.

I feel like graphically from games have not improved since Dark Souls 1 at all, the major difference that happened is that they added more baked reflections over time, increased draw distance and lighting engine was overhauled.
The meshes themselves as well as overall visual fidelity is overwhelmingly same.
In fact look at Demon Souls remake on PS5, it objectively has better graphics than From games, even though it has far worse art direction.

Eh I never liked souls pvp anyway since your builds for pve and pvp could vary a lot. So you either got invaded by someone geared for PvP and he wrecked your Pve char or you yourself made a dedicated PvP build and had to go to these community determined pvp spots. I dabbled in it but with the shitty netcode and unbalanced gameplay I always wondered why not just play a dedicated PVP game where you don't have to start a new save file if you want to play a different character and unstead go to the roster and pick a different one.

That's like playing GTAV for its car races. Sure, they're servicable but a dedicated racing game does everything better.

For DS1 this was Chester, hinting towards Bloodborne
For Bloodborne, it was Yamamura hinting towards Sekiro

Fromsoft always have very busy and detailled designs for both characters and enviroments. If you compare the bloodborne concept art to the actual finished game, you will see that they basically 1:1 translated it, which is insane, because the finished product is usually a very watered down version of the conxept art in order to make it work. I feel like they purposefully keep the actual technical aspects of their assets a little lower to keep the designs more dense. Apart from that, there have been huge visual upgrades since Demon souls, its just never on top of the competition, because they focus more on art direction than others.

Everything looks fine here. Dodge rolls should have i-frames, imagine how useless they would be against bosses with huge weapons and fast attacks if you had to get physically out of the way. The only viable option would be to lame with bows or spells.
The whip probably can't be angled up or down. It would be useless if it couldn't even reliably hit an enemy who was in end lag right in front of you after a heavy attack.
Making it work the other way might make the game look more "realistic", but it would make the gameplay much worse.

And while "depth" is nothing to do with the argument I was making, there is plenty of depth to Souls pvp that isn't found in Chivalry, since Chivalry is a game which makes spacing and movement mostly redundant in favour of point blank timing mixups. I tend to make my first build a dex build in souls games. Given the horse combat I may see about going for some kind of samurai-esque katana/curved sword + dex spear for horse combat build.

I think it's more about that feeling of discovery when first getting to know the layout of the map. One of the most unique souls experiences is when you first play through an area and have no idea what's going on or what to expect.
It's certainly a feeling I'd want to preserve for Elden Ring, but at the same time the prospect of having a bro to do co-op with and you both discover and explore the world for the first time together could lead to a very unique sense of adventure as well.
