I feel like Kiryu needed an opponent who was the same age or slightly older than himself. All his enemies had tremendous talent and potential, but they didn't have a fraction of his experience. None of them trained in Komaki arts, none of them fought entire armies, none of them had the opportunity to face the same challenges that he did. That's why they always came up so short.

That's not it though. If Nishiki were man enough, he would have forced his dudes to fall in line. Kiryu would not have tolerated such awful behavior and tactics. He would have looked all his dudes in the eye and said "Anyone who has a problem can come with me outside", and then he would have beat the shit out of all of them at the same time. This is usually how he solves all his problems and it tends to work pretty well.

>>
OI MATE YO OSSAN

>>551117802
ryuji was really powerful
>>
>>551117802
I doubt Kuze and Shibusawa ever faced those kinds of challenges. The situations Kiryu found himself in over the years were truly extraordinary. Thing is, in general, you will never find a situation where one man will have to fight off a hundred guys all on his own. Putting aside whether it's possible to win or not, it's just a highly improbable circumstance to find yourself in. And Kiryu keeps finding himself in those circumstances.

Thing is, Kuze and Shibusawa weren't legends. They never achieved any legendary feats. They never had to deal with the kind of shit Kiryu dealt with, there was never an opportunity. And at any rate, they were both weaker than 20-year-old zero-experience, zero-Komaki Kiryu.

>>551117907
Ryuji was a man who could have truly rivaled Kiryu if he weren't a kid ten years younger than him whose only experience was beating up small-time thugs. And that's kind of the trend with all of Kiryu's opponents. Mine also had massive potential, but he was a businessman. It would be very difficult for him to find himself in the kind of situation where he'd have to punch through fifty mooks alone. Same with Aizawa.

I'm about 20 hours in, and I'm having a blast with all the minigames I've unlocked in Onomichi, after the town seemed pretty bare at first.
Be sure to check the pier at the bottom of the map now and then to see if the substory is there yet. Spearfishing is wild, especially if you're on PC and can use a mouse.

>>
>>551121483
Nah. Even in 2 he was very different than in 1. And in 3 he's actually kinda sensible. 1 was the only game where he was completely off the rails crazy.
>>
>>551121508
For sure. Just compare what was added in Kiwami and what was already there (the story). Majima's crossdressing one moment and the other he's kidnapping Haruka and holding her hostage just to get a fight with Kiryu, while also beating his own man mercilessly.
>>
>>551118341
Finished the main story this week and I'm about 30 hours in. It was such a blast all the way to the end both in gameplay and story. I'm finishing things up in premium adventure now and Onomichi feels comfy as fuck. Can't wait to start new game plus on a higher difficulty.
>>
>>551121834
The Majima Everywhere system could've worked if it was presented to you after his 2nd fight and be less grindy. But as it is right now it just sucks him off so hard it ruins his character from the original.

dodge around in rush mode to build your gauge and use cheap dagger heat actions
>>
>>551125458
Tiger dropping is easier and quicker. You just shouldn't have to, though. He should be capped at 3 health bars, max.
>>
>>551125545
I think it kinda depends on which style he's using. I'd say Mad Dog style is definitely the easiest to Tiger Drop, but I found it whiffs very easily against Breaker.
>>
>>551125792
I thought it was harder against Slugger, honestly. With Breaker you can wait until he's in one of the really ineffectual stuck-in-place spins and hit him with like 2 or 3 in a row.
>>
>>551126056
Stuck-in-place spinning is the hardest to Tiger Drop. It activates easily but it often fails to actually land.
>>
>>551117907
I fucked him so hard i had the giant stick and unlimited heat so I just shoved it up his ass the whole fight

It's lacking in content. Not just minigames but substories too, clocking at just 51. The combat is also kinda meh. Enemies fly around with ease and the best way to deal with most of them is by just kicking them on the ground and sending them flying miles away while hitting other enemies on their path. Trivially easy and not very interesting.
>>
>>551128870
Saejima has hyper armor so it makes sense that he can take on Kiryu
>>
>>551125792
breaker is extremely easy to tiger drop because you can easily bait a predictable attack by punching him once, which he will either eat and do nothing, or dodge and start a combo, which you can then tiger drop. when he dodges to start a combo, he always does a little dance before actually attacking so it’s super easy to time the counterattack. don’t even have to wait for his breakdancing
slugger is kind of tricky to tiger drop because of his super armour, i had to bait and dodge the first swing in the combo to tiger drop the rest
thug was by far the hardest and most annoying to tiger drop. if you try to bait his attacks, he will sometimes do a dodge before actually comboing to mess up your timing, and the startup is so fast that you barely have time to react
>>
>>551129816
> startup is so fast that you barely have time to react
Consistent problem with Yakuza games. A ton of first attacks have no actual tell and aren't telegraphed, so you're better off just dodging constantly. Not a big issue, but kind of annoying.

Is it me or Yakuza 7's graphics are kinda shit? Y6 looked amazing. Onomichi was incredible. Y7's graphics remind me of Y0 but actually slightly worse. It's weird. I also hate how every character looks younger, like the art style became more cartoony.
>>
>>551129939
the guy with the black and gold bird outfit in the coliseum in kiwami was the worst. i had to do exactly that, switch to rush and spam quicksteps to preemptively evade his no startup combos
>>
>>551117416
Nishiki should've been able to handle things on his own
>>
>>551130539
Fucking Charon, what an asshole. Rush is the only way to get through half the faggots in the Coliseum in that mode, anything else (other than Tiger Drop spam) leaves you way too exposed to cheap damage. The gas mask dude is a fucking asshole too, he can't even be staggered 99% of the time.
>>
>>551117420
>beats up a woman in Kiwami 1
>but it's okay because it's a substory and she's dressed like a man
I get where the creator is coming from, but what an arbitrary restriction.
>>
>>551118341
Combat sucks ass and it has very little content, but the fully voiced side quests are very nice.
>>
>>551130763
yeah but rush also feels really cheap and braindead because you’re just spamming quickstep preemptively fishing for a back attack. also for some really retarded reason, the rush combo will push them out of combo range if attacking from the back so i had to switch to brawler to finish the job

>>
>>551139936
At the start of 1 he's working for Dojima and is also very likely to start his own clan if not for the events that follow.
He's a success story in the criminal underworld.
Then he goes on to humiliate any clan that gets in his way after leaving it.
>>
>>551139936
He's an enforcer for the Dojima Family getting their work done. Clearly he's a major muscle and player because Dojima sends him at some pretty high value targets (Like we see in 1 with Peace Finance) to collect. He was working with them for decades, it only makes sense he became sort of legendary within the yakuza themselves. Same deal with Majima being an unhinged wild card for Shimano.

If you want to take 0's explanation then doing all the nonsense in 0 to clear his name, defeating Shibusawa and rejoining the Dojima Family cemented him as a legendary figure. Not to mention he has the backing of Kazama himself who is a legend within the Tojo Clan.

Haruka was originally a PS2 character, and for some reason they didn't want to deviate too much from her original design. Even they they deviated like crazy for Kiryu.

What about?

>Theme
Two Dragons > For Whose Sake (Kiwami) > Fly > A Scattered Moment (2) >= A Scattered Moment (K2) > The Battle for the Dream > The Way of Life = For Whose Sake (1)

>Dynamic Intro
Shibusawa > Goda > Nishiki > Iwami > Mine > Aizawa

They're all god-tier, regardless of preference.

i wonder if that RGG book with all the information on the series and every character has any sort of power level graph for the main protagonists, since i'm curious to see how the devs would rank them.
probably all over the place.
>>
>>551148024
6's final boss theme is good, but it sounds painfully generic in general really.
i'd probably rank them all really closely, with all the mainseries final boss themes outside of og 1 being better than 6's.

Easily the best final fight in my opinion. Only ones that come close are Ishin's and maybe 2's (OG).
>>

that's a judge eyes villain though.
also the seems like we'll never see yakuza characters in judge eyes based on the fact that they seem to be alternate realites.
iirc, sato said it'd have to be a proper crossover title.
>>
>>551148261
i'm wondering how strong the mole is supposed to be.
i guess he's skilled, but not as autistically strong as characters in the yakuza series, since judge eyes is a lot more toned down in terms of power level bull shittery.

I'd say both he and Yagami are essentially DEX builds. The issue with Judgment power levels is that Yagami can't even do minor gauntlets on his own and needs Kaito or Sugiura to help him out the majority of the time. Even in the biggest gauntlet they did Yagami had the entire crew to help him out with Sugiura there to the end when they split up. There's no way he's even on Shinada's level considering how Shinada ran an entire gauntlet against a yakuza family on his own with no support. The Mole seems like he's a bit stronger than Yagami in general but considering Yagami beats him with a concussion it sounds like overall Yagami has better adaptability.

Forgot about this game. How is it bro? What's the good and bad?
>>

didn't shinada get help in his gauntlets?
i can't remember how many he had, since i've not played 5 in a while.
>>
>>551149107
very good
the bad are tailing missions, but there's not that many of them
>>
>>551149107
It's pretty great. The only major faults are no karaoke, the tailing missions, and they half fixed the blocking issue the Dragon Engine introduced causing Crane to be pretty garbage outside of EX-Heat. It's like Ishin in terms of difficulty for a majority of the game, enemies deal chunks of damage.

moose, do you have a webm of one of the chapter title animations from judgment? i always thought they looked really nice

>Not just minigames
New engine, please understand.
But seriously, Yakuza games just add new things to assets/mechanics from the previous ones. 6 could only do it to some extent. This is also the reason why 5 is the biggest - because it's built on top of the biggest number of other games.

>substories too, clocking at just 51
This is the best part. More doesn't mean better. And they're all fully voiced for the first time.

>Trivially easy and not very interesting
Funny, because this is the first Yakuza game that forced me to use items outside of Amon fights.
And let's not pretend Yakuza games were ever difficult; at least in 6 you have other powerful tools, so you don't have to tiger drop 24/7.

Nope, but here you go.

>>551149579
Mahjong is just making a hand of 14 tiles. 12 of those tiles are groups of three tiles (Sequences such as 4, 5, and 6 of the same type of tile, or triplets which are three of the same tile) and 2 tiles are doubles (Two of the same tile). As long as you don't steal tiles from other people your hand is always valid and any hand works. After that you can slowly work through understanding different basic yaku like Full Straight, All Doubles, Pinfu, Three Color Straight, Identical Sequences, etc.

Shogi you never have to learn, just pull up guides for challenge #1 and repeat it five times. If you really want to do stuff legitimately use a shogi AI, the shogi AI they have can go toe-to-toe with grandmaster AI for 80+ moves, it's dumb. It took me like forty minutes for the AI to beat Haruka the third time in 3 and over 90 moves. It's essentially chess but you can use captured tiles, there's Lances where the Rooks are and Rooks are somewhere else, there's Silver and Gold Generals, etc. You can also promote ala Checkers if you reach the last two opposing spots which make your pieces really silly. It requires so much more thought than chess due to all the ridiculous mechanics.

Those are retroactive, however. They were made with just the PS4 in mind. Especially Judgment, considering how the new consonle versions fuck with the lighting and such.

Even though the PS5/SeX versions are being done after the fact we're still in a cross-gen situation regardless. I wouldn't be surprised if the next game or two are at the same time on both gens since they now have experience doing that and we're still in the scalping transitional period for consoles.

Yeah, I wish they had spared him. Have him become a cripple again for POTTERY and send him into a low security prison which allows visits. You could maybe work in a longer redemption arc/rising from the bottom story or just a repairing friendship/mentor kind of deal for the next game. Really getting sick of Yakuza games killing off interesting and promising characters and then doing 180s and resurrecting them with asspulls because the fans liked them so much.
>>
Saejima kinda bothers me, because he kinda overlaps with Kiryu a lot. I feel like his purpose is sort of to explore certain ideas that might have been used for Kiryu, but they lost their chance since by the time Saejima showed up, Kiryu finished three games and was running an orphanage.

I don't get it. Why did they make final boss of 5 so great? Did they plan to make 5 last Kiryu's game?

I hope they go the extra mile and use 6's assets for the next gen Judgment port but I'm not holding my breath since the lighting looks so scuffed and not attuned for the game.
>>
>>551162413
I think only 1, 2 and 5 have relatively satisfying "conclusions". 5's final boss is disappointing from a storytelling standpoint, but the ending to the game wasn't bad. Granted some people take issue with Haruka's actions, but still, it kinda works. 2, also, leaves on a reasonably high note with Kiryu's prospects for the future fairly strong, having found a second love and the Tojo Clan in seemingly good hands with Daigo.

3 doesn't really conclude anything. If anything, 3 as a whole feels like sort of a filler arc that you'd see in a long-running anime. 4 basically ends with Kiryu and his friends bullying a bunch of guys way below their level. While there's plenty I like about 4, it has one of the weakest fucking endings in the franchise.

6 is too fucking wishy-washy. Like, here's the thing: of the six games in Kiryu's saga, seven if you count 0, four end with a fakeout of Kiryu dying, only to reveal that he's alive. 6 is no different. It pretends Kiryu's dead, and then reveals he's alive. But it's the "end" of the "Kiryu saga" because the writers are sick of him. They're sick of him but they want to leave the door open for his return in case the new protagonist thing doesn't work out too hot.
