The slashes themselves are actually an ice attack not a physical attack, and one of his master skills lets you basically do the rapid slashes as long as you want. Bosses that are weak to Ice just melt, with the shields breaking so fast they get stunlocked.

I'm honestly very surprised with this game, because I didn't really like the original Persona 5 because of the godawful writing and terrible pacing, but I'm enjoying myself.Is not a completely mindless musou game, you have quite a bit RPG mechanics, items for healing, different spells and weaknesses just like your usual Persona and on top of it, you can play as the actual cool dudes like Ryuji or Yusuke. Also, while the gameplay can get repetitive, it also knows how to get over random battles quickly, you can ambush and then do an All out attack and it's done and the "tough fights" are fairly challenging. Not to mention that you also don't hear "Last surprise" over and over and OVER again, there is more variety and the remixes of previous tracks are also really good.Also, the writing is nowhere near as cringe as the original Persona 5 and it doesn't treat you like you have brain damage spoonfeeding the same bits of information 3 or 4 times to make sure you understood it. I tend to keep a high En persona around that I'll keep active for whenever I'm not controlling him, otherwise he'll keep eating shit and dying.
