When will this shitty meme die? I'm fairly certain the only reason this "theory" ever caught on was because pseudo-intellectuals wanted to sound smart and edgy by "shaking up the modern science scene as we know it!"

Dinosaurs had reptilian skin. Eat shit faggots.

I don't mind the alphas and mechs. Alphas, IIRC, were added because the community at large figured out the best ways to kill everything and wanted something tougher. After that it was dragons and bosses and shit.

>>
>>519545416
I think they should have used an actual properly sized velociraptor and had it kill some mook. People really don't understand that there are predators that hunt prey that are way bigger than them and would have had a real potentional for a shock/jump scare potentional. Just talking to each other and next thing they known its leapt onto the mooks back and chomps down on his neck strangling him or damaging the spine. Also, the whole dilophosaurus thing was weird too, aside from the spitting and the frill shit they were a hell of a lot bigger. Although I guess that wouldn't be accurate either since their relatives don't hunt in groups, and don't hunt things bigger than them and we have fossil evidence from their teeth to prove it. At best its like crocodiles tearing apart the same animal because it's less work than squabbling over it and there's plenty to go around.

>>519546912
I didn't like that the t-rex roars in the movie. They would have sounded like a really fucking loud alligator/crocodile/goose mixed together with a pitch way fucking deeper that used its really low pitched "voice" to send sounds that could not only be heard, but the ground would literally fucking shake for miles around it and because it's so huge it would have been like your whole body was vibrating. They also had extremely good and sensitive hearing.
>>
>>519547078
It's called refinement you rube. Feathers evolved as a traight in the theropod line, probably for the purpose of temperature insulation as many (if not all) theropods were almost definitely warm-blooded. Insulation becomes a liability for large animals in normal environments, so larger theropods had little if any feathers. All medium to small theropods were probably feathered.

we can make computer chips out of sand, send devices into space that allow us to talk to anyone else on the planet almost instantaneously, adapt to almost any situation, and we can sweat (which is a pretty big deal when it comes to temperature control and long distance running). humans are minmaxed for making and using tools which is pretty impressive. can't fly? make a tool. want to reach the bottom of the ocean? make a tool. we can use tools to see way more than that shrimp ever could.

There's been leaks on /v/ every so often on Frontier's projects and 2 of them turned out to be right in predicting DLC content for JWE. The 3rd one claimed they were working on a sequel instead of fixing this one because it's too hard, but nothing's been officially announced by Frontier yet.

I feel I got my money's worth and then some, been having a lot of fun with it, but I agree that the management aspect needs to be deeper. The guest types and sanitation needs from OG would have been very welcome, as well as the attractions from it (hot air balloon, viewing dome) and some from World (kayaking, tree trunk viewer). I have a feeling that Universal had a bit of meddling in the game since they had also decreed that vehicles couldn't be destroyed until the Return To Jurassic Park DLC so they might have told Frontier what they wanted in the game.

The funny thing is that in some way they are following the original idea of novel, that the Dr Wu says to Hammond that he didnt made dinosaurs but monsters, because none of the dinosaurs were a truly representation of the original ones.
He made the raptors bigger and more savage just to give people the exactly idea that they have about them.

He was from the original, actually. Necrosan was supposed to be the game's original final boss, and his model was still in the game files at the time of release (along with his cut stage, the Graveyard). That's also the reason the roster was lopsided - each character was supposed to have a specific enemy counterpart (Blizzard vs Chaos, Sauron vs Diablo, Talon vs Vertigo) and Armadon was supposed to be paired against him for a full roster of 8 characters. Still, I agree that a remake/remaster of the original is long overdue.

>How did ALL the dinosaurs disappear just for an asteroid?

The Asteroid basically propelled a bunch of dust into the atmosphere that blocked out the sun for a few years and caused a complete and total collapse of the environment. Everything larger than a dog that lived on land basically starved to death in one way or another. I think aquatic animals fared a bit better, but there was still massive die-offs.
About 75% of everything was killed.

The NEXT issue was the survivors: mammals had already been present in basically every ecosystem (technically at this point many of them were still marsupials), on every continent, and so without any competition from the Dinosaurs, that had been keeping them pocket-sized for so long, they immediately set out to supplant and replace them in every single niche available.
People like to paint this as rats taking over the world, but by the time of the late Cretaceous there were already things resembling gophers, shrews, squirrels, bats, badgers, etc.. Like, we weren't truly starting from step one: there was a good diverse roster of mammals to turn into 'us'- the warm blood runs deep.

During the time period much of the world was covered/flooded in these rich, fertile, shallow seas that were just fucking loaded with seafood. The deep waters we have nowadays are actually shit at harboring and nurturing life because they're cold and dark: warm, shallow, waters were reefs can grow are actually ideal, so these massive seas were perfect.

Spinosaurus shared the Earth with lots of other Spinosaurids that had a T-rex like shape with a Crocodiles head, but Spinosaurus was the one who simply took the design too far and started to evolve from a military-grade stork to a backwards compatible Crocodile.

I'm under the general implication that T-Rexes, ironically, hunted smaller game like how this Chicken does: >>519570047

In that a T-Rex, with it's superior avian vision, would probably watch prey from a safe distance before 'casually' moving in closer and then bolting, or perhaps even LEAPING with tremendous and violent speed, so it could grip and then just shake and rip the shit out of whatever it caught... That or just steal kills by scarring away smaller predators.
I remember reading though that it's "bread and butter" was direct confrontation: it didn't want animals to run, it wanted them to stand their ground so it could overwhelm them with horrifying violence. Many of the T-Rex skeletons they've collected show signs of scarring all over the face from horns, bites, etc.. Like wise there's plenty of Triceratops who've had their heads chewed on by T-Rexes.

No, it is substantially simpler
>animals will throw a shitfit if it rains and tiny raptors will smash through electrified steel and concrete several feet think making it explode and then massacre your guests and other dinos
>your guests don't actually matter, you can five star every single island without a single guest ever seeing a single dinosaur
>just build hotels and amenities at the entrance and they give it 11/10's like they're fucking reviewers at IGN
>only a small handful of trees and rocks you can place manually
>the rest of the trees are just done with a paintbrush
>terrain editing is extremely limited
>water only has one level, about knee deep, can't make big lakes or anything
>most of the maps are unbuildable areas
>dinosaurs are extremely fussy, if you have say 6 triceratops instead of 5 they will freak the fuck out and slaughter your guests
>have 1110 square meters of space instead of 1111 square meters of space, fucking rampage
>your guests die if they so much as lightly brush against a dinosaur
>maiasaurs and parasaurs are fucking cunts that deserved to go extinct
>have to fucking do everything manually, the fucking book fucking says food is restocked from underground, but you can't automate it in this game
>you have to manually tell your rangers to refill a fucking feeder every time its empty
>not that it matters since there's nothing else to do, aside from all your dinosaurs having a severe case of autism the rest of it is your own team deliberately sabotaging you by opening every single gate into the dino pens in the entire park because you gave another department their chicken tendies first
>basically Australia was a prison for criminals, your islands are a prison for autistic sperges and you're the only tard wrangler on the entire island
>the gore is extremely basic, there's nothing like blood splatters on the round or limbs flying or people getting pulped by dinos
>fight animations are kinda neat though

However, its not terrible. I'd give it a 5ish out of 10. Its not completely broken, but its just such a let down and massive wasted potential. If its on a steep sale I'd get it. Otherwise don't touch it. There's just not enough gameplay and its just boring and tries to hide it with tedious busywork and fails at that. Not enough customization either.

MGSV should have been about a PMC operating in the background and sometimes the foreground of the relentless expansion of an American hamburger chain all over the world, only to realize they were playing into Zero's hands. Then they would attempt to form a coalition of chefs "Outer Kitchen" who would resist the global homogenization of civilization's most important cornerstone by offering eaters a variety of different cuisines with locally sourced ingredients. The ending would be bittersweet as while various ethnic cuisines would be spread worldwide and thus preserved, every restaurant owner learns that no matter how great their cuisine, they still have to offer hamburgers and beer in order to make ends meet.

CONSTANTLY lies about the games development, if you took everything from him then you would think the game would be getting cool new shit every couple of months instead of pointless new dinosaurs every 3 months although that was before the year-and-a-half long wait for a completely empty version of what's already an empty game.
he must've shown a million animations for interesting game mechanics that never amount to anything because he has a genuine phobia of anything that isn't PRETTY GWAPHICS. this is all before talking about his stinking fucking attitude to the games community and even some of its content creators.
he treats anyone who doesnt suck his dick like shit. banning people, insulting them, etc etc. FOR FUCKS SAKE, THE ONLY REAL PLACE YOU CAN SAY ANYTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT THE GAME IS ON ITS SUBREDDIT. he has an incredibly passive aggressive attitude and he literally cannot take criticism, last I remember he would post negative reviews of the game from steam onto his discord and laugh at them. then, at the end of all this, he has the balls to act like he's tired and he wants to take a break. he hasn't done jack fucking shit for over a year and now that the game's getting shit on because this hyped up, absolute lie of a major update is almost nothing (as in the trailer for this update was literally just a lie, wonder whos idea it was), he conveniently wants to stop because he's tired.
ironically, him taking a break will be good for the game because this egotistical shit isnt going to be attempting to ruin the games reputation at every corner.
also, he refused to give a content creator early access to the update like other people and called him a "shitbird" because he made a video defending a dinosaur that the devs didnt like. that thing alone, calling someone who's made videos for years on your game a shitbird for disagreeing with him and then refusing to treat him like the content creators who dont say anything bad, is enough for him to be trash.

Not only that, Universal really timecrunched the game. It was a cash grab by Universal, not an actual designed and fleshed out game like Frontier wanted. There was no way in hell we were going to get JPOG 2 with Universal breathing down their necks.
>>
I'm gonna say this again because we both know I'm right

Dino Crisis remake should be made a la Resident Evil 6, dinosaurs are fast, Dino Crisis is literally called Gun Survivor in japan, this shit is meant to be ACTION all over the place, WE NEED TO SUPLEX DINOSAURS, all the crazy movement 6 had would fit perfectly with fast dinosaurs trying to chomp your ass. THE LAST JURASSIC WORLD MOVIE WILL BE THE FINAL CHANCE TO DO A GOOD DINOSAUR GAME. THE WORLD DESERVES DINO CRISIS AGAIN

FUCK

All the new dino games have some kind of twist to them i just want something like dino crisis
>survival horror
>end up on an island resort full of dinosaurs
>man map is the resort
>secondary map is the island jungle
>final map is the secret research facility.
>>
>>519539920

Anyone else find dragons utterly boring but never get tired of dinos?
>>
>>519569615
>raptors absolutely sperg out and somehow demolish a giant electrified concrete and steel barrier that could probably stop a tank dead in its tracks
I never understood why a dinosaur zoo would be so much more impossibly dangerous than a normal zoo. it'd be almost identical to a normal zoo irl. it was fine for the first film because the disaster was mostly precipitated by corporate espionage, but to keep retelling the same story just highlights how stupid it is.
>>

>that awesome fucking chicken-roar just before it rips that little mouse to shreds
damn that chicken is fuckin badass dude

Make sure you customize the settings for the world, like breeding and taming time, exp gain, and whatever else you want, practically.
If I ever do play again, it's what I'll be doing.
Used to play in a PvE server, but it was a bit crowded, and all the good spots were taken.
>>
>>519583384
You should really read the book. The original park had serious issues before Nedry even set foot on the island. Spoilers and I cbf tagging it: The major issue was that they were keeping things contained that no one had ever studied before. It's not like a regular zoo where the animals had been studied for years and decades so their habits and behaviors were known. Every single thing was unpredictable because they were cooking up new animals from scratch. The whole plot is the essence of unpredictability in chaotic systems which is what the original park was.
>>
>>519583634
so basically and unironically; life, uh, finds a way?

Whatever happened to Saurian?
>>
>>519583634
that makes some sense. I never read any Michael Crichton but I've heard he cared about the science in his science fiction. the movies were fucking dumb after the original though.
>>
>>519583936
Sort of. It's really an ode to Chaos theory, i.e. the idea that a small change can have major unintended consequences due to the nature of certain systems.

>>519584120
TLW is actually my favorite movie of them all, but that's more for nostalgia reasons I won't get into. You should at least read the original Jurassic Park. Crichton does tend to sock puppet Malcolm to preach a bit, but it's a very good book. Very different from the movie.
>>
>>519583634
I can go with that excuse if they still used common sense regarding security.
Like not using service door a large dino can go through.
>>
>>519574843
Hey man I can see you didnt like that game but plz don't shit on it I am so nostalgic for that game, man, you have no clue how hype I was to play that game back then as a kid. It wasn't shitty, just evolved the series in a different and arguably wrong direction.

Here's a quote example from Ray Arnold (Samuel L Jackson in the movie. Didn't really do the character justice honestly)
>“Yes, it is. You’re just not here to see it,” Arnold said. “The tyrannosaurs drink the lagoon water and sometimes get sick; we aren’t sure why. The triceratops females kill each other in fights for dominance and have to be separated into groups smaller than six. We don’t know why. The stegosaurs frequently get blisters on their tongues and diarrhea, for reasons no one yet understands, even though we’ve lost two. Hypsilophodonts get skin rashes. And the velociraptors—”

>>519584284
Where does that occur?
>>
>>519584042
But why? What are they doing?
>>
>>519584483
They are having fun.

https://sauriangame.squarespace.com/blog/2020/5/12/saurian-devlog-95
>I need to start this off with the announcement that after today we will be suspending DevLogs until the patch is out.

>Many of you will have noticed that our recent output has been on the lighter side, and this is for an obvious reason: with the patch so close to being completed, all our effort is being put into bug fixing and other preparation for release, as opposed to producing new content that is fun to show off. It also means that in recent weeks trying to prepare something for the DevLog have become a burden on our team, especially our programmers, that distracts them from their work on the patch for diminishing returns.

Look like it's still going.
Might actually buy into it if I lose patience with the Isle and they show a gameplay video with something I consider interesting, like say having your own AI herd.

>>
>>519585039
Idk, it kind of makes sense as you need a way to move it out of the paddock to the eventual visitor enclosure, but yeah, the movies after TLW don't really do the JP book universe justice. I honestly feel that JP and TLW would be better off as individual mini-series rather than what Spielberg turned them into.
>>
>>519585151
.......show me.
>>
>>519585039
yeah that's retarded. in those movies dinosaurs are basically dragons, complete with super strength and permanent aggression towards humans.
