Arent these numbers kinda low for how big The Little Mermaid's budget is and what it needs to break even? Is this just cope?

I don't own stocks in this corporation, do you? If not, why do you care how much money millionaires make?
>>
>>185444912
Like Disney cares. Their live action esg films could, and do, all lose money and they will continue making them.
>>
>>185444912
$100 million total for the theatrical run would be low. $100 million just for an opening weekend seems really high
>>
>>185444912

Kek. Expectations already coming down. >>185445422

Not for the budget. 2.5x budget is break even for 80% of films. 3x budget is break even for 100%.

Beauty and Beast opened to &180m
>>
>>185444912
It'll do decent numbers domestically. Foreigners don't care. Probably $500m-$600m globally when it's all said and done.

The domestic numbers are fine. American culture is centred around ... The problem is that this thing's got a huge budget and it's looking like a flop internationally.

I'm pretty sure they already used that for one Mexico interview where Halle Bailey was uncomfortable when the guy said "This isn't a question. It's something I want to share with you. I promise, no one in that movie theater was looking at your skin color last night. Everyone, everyone, including my wife and my children, was lost in your eyes. Everyone." How dare he say her skin color didn't matter in her performance when Halle always brings up her race in many articles brought up about her. Clearly not seeing race is the most racist thing you can do.

Took my wife to see it because the cartoon one is her favorite movie.

I do not believe they spent whatever amount they’re claiming in production.
The costumes are awful, the sets look cheap as fuck, the voice editing (except for the songs) is complete garbage, it doesn’t even fit the mouth movements.
It looks like they filmed it in one of the parks with the hired the actors there as extras.
And they didn’t even had to spend a cent in writers, is 99% the same scenes shot for shot as the cartoon.

Cheap ass flick.
And did they even spend money in advertising? I swear I never saw the trailer and I only heard about it from all the manufactured outrage online about the negrees.
The song scenes are ok, though. 2/5 overall.

What gets me is that Disney knows Chinese moviegoers don't want to see black people on the screen. That's why they hid the black Storm Trooper on the posters for the Chinese market. They must have known this would happen.

I work in a larger AMC with an Imax and a Dolby theater. It was quiet in the screenings today. Most theaters on average had 15 or under seats sold and our largest screening on a normal screen had 27 seats sold. One of the Dolby shows had 2 seats sold, two guys and a 3D showing had 9 sold. Tomorrow and Saturday don’t have any packed theaters either. I think the most sold screening might be around 30.

Most afternoon into the latest Fast X screenings were pretty packed except for the front and some side areas. Disney’s PR to the owners buzz on the film was huge and to expect big crowds. They asked a lot of us to come in extra but we may not need it. They cut a lot of the 20 screens we have to pipe this and Fast X but have already changed the listings for Sun, Mon and Tues last shows in Imax and Dolby back to Fast X. They didn’t have a single ticket sold on any of those shows. It will be interesting to see how this pans out. We have a ridiculous amount of stuff they sent from giant standees and banners to little dangle logos and stickers stuck everywhere.

Wasn't it originally 120 or 180 domestic? I think only yesterday that was still the estimate even though there were reports of empty showings and low reservation numbers. I kept wondering where they were getting those numbers even though interest for this film seems lower than that of GotG3.
Different audiences aside, I can't see it doing overwhelmingly better despite having a seemingly broader market.

>>
>>185457737
All of the extra songs were terrible, people were laughing during Eric's song. All of the underwater/cg parts looked like a Superbowl commercial. Everything was so painfully drawn out. I like animation so I've seen the first movie a lot of times, it's a work of art. Every moment that's emotional or tense in the original is completely devoid of soul in this version. I hate in all these remakes how they add stupid unnecessary lore. The thing about forgetting the kiss was retarded, every one of the original songs was worse. It was offensive. During "Part of Your World" I physically cringed.

The most illuminating thing about all this kind of stuff came from a guest on the Boy Meets World podcast. they aim to make a billion dollars with EVERY film you dumb fucking journalists.
>>
So is every Ariel actor at their parks going to be black from now on?
>>
>>185459902
This is what I’m wondering. Are they going to completely replace red-head Ariel merchandise and everything too? It would be such a waste of an iconic and beloved character design that’s made them many millions if not billions over the years.
>>
Number keeps getting lower every day. This looks like its gonna struggle to break even. Non-starter in China, weak international sales. It needs 400+ million to break even and 500+ to be considered a success when you account for marketing. Good riddance.
>>
>>185459902
>>185459963
Why would they? The original is a classic, this is soulless slop.
>>
>>185459979
With a production budget of 250 million the break even point is at least 500 but could very well be 600, depending on the marketing budget.
>>
>>185460164
500 million isn't the break even point, you need to take into account that Disney doesn't get 100% of the price of a ticket
800M would be a better starting point
>>
>>185459373
doesn't make sense to change the appearance of any of the animals if they are going to be 3D anyway. the whole movie is just one big "remember this?" and i don't know why they keep making the answer "no".

there's no point in marriage today since it's so easy to end it. all you do is sign a paper that says she get half your stuff if she breaks up with you or if she cheats on you and you want to break up with her. not even a meme, i see no benefit in marriage today.

>>185452432
>We have a ridiculous amount of stuff they sent from giant standees and banners to little dangle logos and stickers stuck everywhere.

Ever since I was a kid I wanted the inside scoop to get some cool stuff like this. I need a movie theater gf.

>Their live action esg films could, and do, all lose money and they will continue making them.
The post-2008 infinite money train ride was over the second the Fed started hiking interest rates. Before this, large investment outfits had privileged access to the printing press, and could throw printed money after bad. They didn't need their investments to make returns as long as interest rates remained low or functionally negative. This was exactly the environment that engendered "ESG/DEI" initiatives; the Finkelsteinbergs of the investment world could pretend that profits were no longer necessary, and they decided to start playing Tikkun Olam activist instead.

Then came the fastest interest rate hikes in living memory, which brought a screeching halt to the flow of liquid capital. This meant that in order for kikes to hold onto any shred of power an influence, they would have to start showing a return on their investments--or lose them entirely. Now, couple this with an economic environment in which consumers are strapped for cash and are rabidly political, and you have the perfect storm for an absolute apocalypse of "woke" across every single industry that has fallen into that trap.

This is exactly why you're starting to see massive layoffs, closures, selloffs, cancellations, etc. Shareholders are demanding that anything that can't show a decent return on investment be axed. And the troonpocalypse is just getting warmed up. It's going to be a fucking holocaust.
>>
>>185460522
It does until you factor in:
>250 million production cost
>Double it for marketing
>Add an additional 20% to be seen as a success
>Disney movies notoriously drop off after the first week

At this point it’s all about Toy Sales, but black Ariel doesn’t have brushable hair, it’s unlikely that’ll save them (think Finn from Star Wars). It’s probably ogre.

watching people with no culture flock to white culture fills my heart with joy. white culture is so beautiful and expansive that every other race wants to be part of it. imagine waking up and your "culture" is basketball and an obsession with shoes made by child slaves instead of inventing everything in the world lmao. can you blame them for wanting in?

That's not what I learned from mass comm 100.
They said theaters don't get a cent on tickets, only concessions.

Sure, I'll bite.

>Movie theaters receive approximately 40% of each ticket sold.
>>
>>185461095
Holy fuck you’re stupid. I don’t know what community college you went to, but yes, theaters take a substantial cut, usually 40-50%. Maybe try a simple jewgle search next time you 80 iq nigger brain. Maybe you can let your ‘professor’ know as well.
>>
>>185461267
That said, your professor was half right. Concessions are the bigger profit margin, but ticket sales are a large part of the business.
>>
>>185461241
Are you afraid of getting sent there?
Your English is quite good.
Be honest, how many track suits do you own?
>>
>>185459051
No but you are on this topic

Budget is 250m. Needs 2.5x - 3x its budget. Studios split the box office with theaters. 600m means the studio made around $300m
>>
>>185461528
The economic hurdles for Disney's projects are also much larger than many other studios given the overhead they have. This means that in order to satisfy shareholder requirements/demands, they need a pretty damned high profit margin. This is doubly true now that they have so many projects that are complete and total economic disasters.

Retarded leftists can't into economic evaluation.
>>
>>185461095

Your professor was an idiot. Where they a diversity hire?
>>
>>185461267

And their take grows after opening. The theater gets a bigger cut in week 4 than week 1 and so on. Theaters mad bank off Top Gun
