Was this the best episode?
>>
I like the one with the sapient yogurt
>>
>>170026627
damn Adrien Brody looks like shit these days
>>
the twist was stupid.
if all voted to go to port then they should have been suspect when the captain didn’t kill them as well when he executed the morally selfish “few”.

You animate this for months and no one ever thinks
>hey, this doesnt quite make sense
???
>>
>>170026832
He never said what they voted.

>>
>>170027125
yea he did.
when he killed the last one, he said they all voted the same.
>>
The one with ghost fishes
>>
>>170026832
He executed two people with one bullet from a six shooter. Did you expect the crew to go "Hey wait I voted 'no' too, wtf?!" They obviously planned to get rid of him since they sent a guy with a knife to ambush him, and then later tried to murder him in his sleep.
>>

Heheh.
>>
>>170027469
>>170027570
OK. retards.
explain the great twist where he SURPRISINGLY kills the timid, harmless dude last and says everyone voted the same with a gloomy face as if it were something dramatic?
>>
>>170027883
He killed them because they all voted on the crabs killing innocents. They didn't know who voted what.
>>
>>170026627
Out of all seasons? Not sure, it was definitely the best of S3.
S1 - Aquila Rift/Secret War/Zima Blue are the best depending on your sensitivity to artistic direction
S2 - Pop Squad easily, Ice soundmixing and audio makes it close.
S3 - Bad Traveling
>>
>>170026627
This one was good, but the best one was the hivemind one because I could definitely see humans doing some dumb shit like that and then royally fucking over our species. Fucked me up pretty bad desu.
>>
>>170026832
As soon as he killed the niggersthey tried to kill him. Multiple times.
>>
From that season? Yes. Overall Beyond the Aquila Rift and Zima Blue were the best shorts.
>>
>>170027454
Fish Night was my favorite from S1 on the first watch. The animation is kind of dated which I think bothers a lot of people.
>>
Aquila Rift, is this even a question?
>>
>>170026832
they didn't know what each other voted for retard. When he kills the brothers they probably thought he fucked up and shot the wrong one. Then sometime later they figured out they all wanted to land at the bay so they tried to kill him. How the fuck do you not manage to follow such a simple story?
>>
>>170026627
Tilt shift zombies was kinda cozy and artsy
>>
The cringiest were Three Robots
>>
>>170028059
The only issue I have with it is the hiveminds "defense protocol" being a surprise. The fact it waits until it's species is being exploited means it can never act as a deterrent but always a threat. Why not be present from the start? It's not like it needs the element of surprise it even tells him that the humans will lose a head on war
>>
>you can make any story you want
>most of them are about Wall-E looking round cute robots
Fuck that
>>
>>170027883
The timid, harmless dude that had just attempted to murder him the night before? He was only alive because he was too much of a coward to join the others in a third attempt on dudes life.

The Swarm is seriously good. Maybe a bit predictable in terms of theme but it was still beautifully rendered.

Mason's rats doesn't get enough love that was funny as fuck.

Night of the Mini dead was probably the worst one in the 3 seasons and Jibaro is HILARIOUSLY fucking overrated.
>>
>>170028269
they are very consistently awful
>>
>>170026627
Yes.
>>170026832
You fucking retard.
They all assumed at first that he got the votes wrong and hoped to get away with it.
Only later on did they realise that they all wanted to unleash the crab on the town.
>>
>>170028190
>>170028087
>>170027977
>he knew who voted what because he said he altered each piece of paper (a lie at the time)
then the original shooting of the two dudes was stupid.
How do you morons not see that the plot has a serious illogical hole in it no matter from which side you defend it
>>
>>170028351
To me the deterrent would be that the ecosystem had survived flawlessly for millions of years. That type of longevity should in itself be evidence that the Swarm was prepared against exploitation/enslavement. The 'plot' hole is that the scientists thought introducing in-organic pheromones into the biosphere wouldn't have an impact in the first place.
>>
>>170028552
I was with the swarm until humanity lost.
I was hopping the negro had slipped a snuke into his or her body and was going to go out with a bang.
Any story where humanity lose to xenos is trash.
>>
>>170028594
The point was initially THEY didn't realize what everyone had voted.

He killed the niggers because the nigger was likely the biggest threat to him and because the crab needed to be fed. He killed the second one because killing either one of them would have triggered a conflict with the second one, and he openly states that doubling the meal should double the time between meals.

This isn't a plot hole, it's simple games and theory, you're simply too fucking stupid to understand this.
>>
>>170028552
The animation of Jibaro was fucking horrible, it’s the usual bait of people calling something deep when it’s just retarded. WHOA BRO HE TOOK HER SCALES BRO AND THEN SHE WAS SAD AND COULDNT SING BUT SHE WAS STRONG WILLED AND OVERCAME IT AND SHE SANG!
>>
>>170028594
what they fuck did you expect him to do? Tell them all "hey I'm the only one that doesn't agree with you all so gang up on me like we just did to the buff dude we fed to the crab".
>>
Jibaro easily
>>
>>170028705
He killed the blacks because they were brothers and were the ones most likely to know how each other actually voted and therefore be able to convince the others of this.
>>
>>170028351
>>170028552
stupid anon here, was the female scientist always a part of the swarm and was just testing out the male scientist or was she only turned once the experiments started
the wording kinda makes me think she was always under it's control but idk
>>
>>170028043
I never watched season 2, but I guess I’ll watch Pop Squad now, since you were right about all the others.
>>
>>170028923
Pop Squad, Ice, The Tall Grass, and The Drowned Giant are worth watching. The rest ranges from meh to ass
>>
>>170028898
The intel unit of the swarm stated she was only a few days old and that she had been born as an automatic defensive reaction to the external pheromones. She assimilated the fem in order to communicate with the male. It's implied that they'd been there for awhile before this happened, as evidenced by his hair growth.
>>
>>170028898
Haven't rewatched it so there might be subtle hints but I'm pretty sure she was just a human. Once their experiments worked and the hivemind woke up it took her first and made her a puppet.

The captain (he was the navigator by the way, the captain got vored by the crab) lied by saying only 2 people voted for the port when that was an excuse to kill the 2 brothers, figuring that their loyalty to eachother would be more dangerous than the strenuous relationship between the rest of the cowards. You even see how they don't act as a cohesive group during the assault and allows thr captain to take them out one by one
>>
>>170026627
that would be beyond the Aquila rift, followed by in vaulted halls entombed
>>
>>170027883
Everyone voted to bring the crab to the island, but the navigator never told anyone what anyone voted and nobody in the group knew what the others voted, so when he shot those brothers he just said they were traitors, pretending they did something contrary to the group. He never said what it is what they did/voted and thus they didn't all go "hey now they voted the same as us why would you kill them and not us?". See he played everyone out against each other using his wits to make them question each other and never cooperate (until they did) and always allowing the group to have inklings of doubt between each other. And that's also why he killed the brothers first because he knew they would never doubt each other and always be loyal to each other and thus they might have started an alliance between the "bad choice" voters quicker.

But that's the point of "the swarm", it's existence. It never tries to be smart like human beings, they just want to exist. And will only breed intelligence when it's needed. It's a completely different take on a species totally unlike Human beings and that's what makes the story the most interesting one. The swarm is the ultimate result of evolution where a species only does whatever it must to survive. And having dumb "individuals" (none of them are individuals but there are single beings capable of only one task) is better for survival than having it like humans where they rage war etc. towards each other.

And the fact they never needed a deterrence is evident into the fact that the swarm has existed for millions of years.
>>
>>170028771
That's what I'm saying though, the blacks were already a threat to him just because they upset the distribution of power between the group. It wouldn't be possible to oppose either of them without opposing both of them.

Alternate Histories.
I don't think it's even a question.
The animation is ugly, it's saying absolutely nothing, it isn't funny and there's isn't anything approaching a theme or subject.
It's just ugly, unfunny drivel
It's so fucking low-effort, so dumbed for complete and utter retards that it gives Hitler the mustache in 1908, because even though it says it's Hitler all the fucking time, it's such monumentally restarted work made for other, similarly hyperbolic-defying retards that it needs to give him the mustache, lest all the worms watching forget for a second that it's Hitler.

The idea behind racial immortality in the eyes of the swarm is that intelligence beyond what is needed to perform your tasks critical to the survival of your species is pointless. In your quest for expression, exploration, adventure, knowledge, or dominance you will eventually destroy yourself. The swarm believes in creating the perfect self sustaining ecosystem and outside of the 'intel brain' that is only born when the hive is threatened there is nothing resembling individuality in the swarm. Not even the queen has it. The swarm brain is basically the overmind from SC without the impulse to grow/destroy/assimilate. The swarm only does these things out of a sense of conservationism. The swarm is more than capable of creating humans that are stronger/resilient/violent than what humans already are, with the functional difference of blind loyalty to the swarm ecosystem, at which point any future generations of the proto humans will slowly see their intelligence reduced to a point of mindless tasks. The swarm is millions of years old. It is doesn't see humanity any differently than it's seen any of the other races it's been forced to eradicate/assimilate.

>>170038302
I'm forced to agree that Alternate Histories is the worst just because it's not even well animated. There was literally nothing of value there. No story, no jokes, nothing to be redeemed.

I hated the second 3 robots more because the screenwriters just could not stop sucking their own dicks and the entire story is just these annoying cartoons spewing off the dumbass political hot takes of people dumb enough to think preppers could wipe out the deer population. Alternate histories is objectively worse but 3 robots was just insulting.
>>
>>170035660
I didn't catch that, but you're right. He took out the only one who could have thrown their weapon at him first.

Rewatching this is a damn treat because you see how expertly planned out everything is.
>From jump he takes out the big thug guy who was winning people over because he knew they could be rallied against him
>Step 2 was figuring out who he could rely on for help by seeing who would be willing to sacrifice the island and who would feed it to the monster crab
>When he realizes he's alone the first thing he does is trick the entire crew into thinking he's either on their side or everyone else is against their ideas by scapegoating and eliminating the only two people who would've spoken to each other and trusted each other about how they voted, this also keeps the crab fed and gives him time to make it to the island.
>Things continue to escalate with the attempt on his life on the crows nest and then finding out the crab had babies
>He subtly reveals to the others that they're all against him and seemingly knows it'll cause an attack that night
>Takes them all out so he can keep the babies fed
>Kills the one who tried to backstab him, then was too cowardly with the others, all while being willing to sacrifice an entire island to save his skin
>and it turns out he was lying the whole time, he was always going to Phaiden Island, the crew could've survived if they'd had a single shred of humanity
>He outplayed the crew, the giant crab, and the audience and got out alive

All in a tight short without a shred of fat on it, every single scene has meaning and fits into the grander narrative, the more you rewatch it the better it gets.
>>
>>170040620
>No story, just three unfunny robots wandering around spewing out idpol hot takes from some pretty fucking dumb screenwriters
>Just nonstop exposition and talking down to the audience without any jokes in between, unless you count "If only they could've learned to eat microplastics" as a joke
>Ends on a cat joke that got spoiled in the trailers
I don't know what fetish you have that makes you get off when someone preaches some pretty stupid political hot takes at you but this may be the only time I ever say Don't go back, because if you stumble across their politics board you might literally orgasm yourself into brain death from dehydration in two clicks and I don't want that on my conscious.

But all of these were awful.
The cacophony is so loud at the start that it made it want to turn off. Yes, I know it's intentional, but the effect is there regardless.
The designs are super ugly, with everyone having these weirdly cartoony proportions and the siren that manages to be anything but enticing

I'd watch an entire anthology set just in that universe, it was kino.

The Witness is the best because the cartoon tits and pussy made my penis hard.

No, it's the best because it makes the best use of animation as an artistic medium and it tells a compelling little story.
The stuff you mentioned is just bonus.

1. In Vaulted Halls Entombed
2. Kill Team Kill

The only one I really disliked was The Very Pulse of the Machine. Shit was boring as fuck.

I was half asleep watching this and it felt like some weird dream. Not very comfy viewing

I think you've actually reached the peak pleb takes. I can't fathom anyone having a less interesting opinion.
If single cells could watch TV they would have better picks

I'd like the people who made Beyond the Aquila Rift to make a full length adaptation of any of Reynold's novels
>>
>>170046747
Whoa I just now remembered that episode got me into his books.
I think the technology is still not mature enough to do the books justice in a full adaptation, and all of the books have too large and varied settings. Some day, though.

They are definitely weird, unusual, and expansive. I think Chasm City could work as a movie now though and be very kino

Okay super later anon here, but was the entire thing a causality loop? The spider lady says something like you are not ready, I have lost many souls before they were prepared to the captain, and she reveals himself to him --But the captain sees the black dudes cyobed already destroyed and he never appeared in his "dreams" yet the tomboy brown cutie did, but her cyobed was also kinda fucked up. So did they all share the same spider induced dream? And the girl kept rejecting it so she expired much sooner than the captain or what? Because the captain hes reset and put back into the dream where he doesn't remember anything

Also does the gateway that they jump with was it build by the spider with the error in mind to send her people sometimes or it was pure random anomaly that just happens to occur once in a while
>>
>>170047996
I think the gateway was not built by her, but the travel through gateway did result in an error flinging the ship way out there where they are trapped. She's intelligent but knows they find her hideously horrific. And yea, the others passed away, besides cute tomboy, a while back and he's trapped in an endless wake up/sleep cycle until he can finally accept his reality without going insane. Tomboy's reaction to Greta shows that each cycle they retain a little bit more and more memory and some don't accept it.
>>
>>170047996
>but was the entire thing a causality loop?
Yeah, basically. I think it's sorta of implied that's his first loop though, but the idea is that he'll keep searching for the truth and not accepting the illusion and the creature will have to keep erasing his memories in the hopes that one day he'll accept
> the tomboy brown cutie did, but her cyobed was also kinda fucked up. So did they all share the same spider induced dream?
I think the tomboy isn't real. She's a figment of Thom's subconscious trying to show him the truth. That's why she immediately points out that not only is the creature is not Greta, but that it isn't even human. From the looks of he's actual crew either died at landing or soon after, or at least significantly before Thom.
>Also does the gateway that they jump with was it build by the spider with the error in mind to send her people sometimes or it was pure random anomaly that just happens to occur once in a while
I think she built it because she's originally from there or also got lost there so sue built a sorta space station to house the other lost souls. I don't think she causes the accidents, just tries to give a peaceful last moments to the ones that got lost.
This is all speculation however, I haven't read the short story

Literally everyone here understood his reasoning but you, but keep going on about your cinema sins tier plothole
>>
>>170026627
One question tho. If he can actually kill the crab at anytime with the shark oil, why not do it earlier rather than killing all his crew? Is it his way of taking vengence for sacrificing him to the crab first?
>>
>>170026711
kill yourself tripfaggot
>>
>>170049698
He wanted to be next to the island, if he did it out at sea he’d more than likely die of dehydration or the like. He needed to be close enough to survive but far enough he could either kill the crab or warn them what was coming so they couldn’t be taken by surprise
>>
>>170049698
> why not do it earlier rather than killing all his crew?

For all we know he never planned to kill anyone else until they literally tries to murder him in his sleep, but yeah he just wanted next to Phiden so he could hop on the dingy and row to shore, doing it in the middle of the ocean and several days with a sailing vessel away would be pretty stupid, there’s sharks in that water. We see them twice and he’s specifically been out there to hunt them
>>
>>170049334
>I think the tomboy isn't real. She's a figment of Thom's subconscious trying to show him the truth.
Yes.

>His first loop
No. See how he looks like an interment camp wizard? I haven't read the story either.

>>170045797
Unironically keen observation. Literally the worst two out of all three seasons.
