>>167971316you have autism
>>167971392>I can elaborate if desired.Funnily enough I don't think it is
>>167971450In the Forest of the Night is an interesting episode, like many. The lack of threat is more unique. The plot does not entirely make sense. In actuality, no character had to do anything in order for the world to be saved, i.e. rid o' the trees (mostly). There should have been further development on the trees' effect upon the world. I like the smaller scale nature o' the tale, despite the worldwide implications of the supposed "invasion". Despite the title o' the story, it does not take place at night almost entirely. The scenes with the children in the TARDIS were not all that great. I liked Maebh, or "Mabe" as I assumed it was spelt till recently (like the village in Link's Awakening). And so on, but I suspect humans would suggest me to die instead of keep writing.
>>167971450Oh, did you mean it was not desired for me to elaborate? I thought you meant you did not think the episode was good, I thought it was odd that you were quoting that part. I apologise.

>>167974225It's "a" long game! I thought it was "the" for a long time, too, but I checked the script, a transcript and the subtitles on iPlayer - all were in agreement, the correct quote is "a long game", not "the long game". It just sounds like like "the" because of the way Eccleston says it and because there is a story with that title.

RTD: 60 episodes (+ SJA/TW)Moffat: 84 episodesCC: 31 episodes
I stopped watching Doctor Who at Matt Smith. I enjoyed Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant. I tried Peter Capaldi by watching the first episode and was pretty meh on it (and rolled my eyes at "history's a whitewash"). I think I just needed a break from Doctor Who. Has there been anything good since? If anyone could recommend the episodes worth watching that would be great. >>167998669After Rose, then years of River Song, and the failure of Thasmin, I hope we get a rest from Doctor romances now.
Destii > Donna
>>167998659this isn't true at all, the doctor is archetypically a merlin figure, having the doctor be a woman throws the whole show into ruin. you can subvert it all you want but if you pull away its core then everything else is worthless. having a female doctor is as bad as changing what the daleks are or getting rid of the tardis. race doesnt matter, writing does, but make the doctor a woman and the writing doesnt matter
>>167998709Idiot.
>>167998697>I hope we get a rest from Doctor romances now.i quite liked the rory-amy companion dynamic, something like that or the 2nd doctor's tardis companions would work quite well i think
>>167998709I think you can have female Doctor-esque characters (like Sarah in SJA with her sonic lipstick and her gang, like Romana II basically acts more like the Doctor in Horns of Nimon than Tom does), but I agree.
>>167998732Surprised we've never had a brother/sister dynamic in the TARDIS yet, but I'd enjoy another Amy/Rory or Jamie/Zoe set up. I also hope RTD has learnt from Chibnall that 3 companions is too many (unless you do the River/Amy/Rory thing where one dips in and out).
Ncuti + 2 companions land on a spacecraft, explore by themselves for 15 minutes, slow increase of tension and mystery. Monsters appear, running down corridors, building up to big finale, explosions, chasing, shouting. Last scene has a joke, roll credits. Repeat every week changing a few things, done - repeat forever.
>>167998769>I also hope RTD has learnt from Chibnall that 3 companions is too manyi think he already knew that from series 1, it works as a one off like in boom town but you can't write a whole series like that
>>167998769River was shit in every story except her first. Moffat can only write two female personalities maximum.
>The truth of it is that everyone lies when they leave Doctor Who and says they've moved on. I mean, I've been thinking about it since I was three, so there's no way you stop thinking about it. The reason I've worked on 34 programmes in my life is because I don't normally like continuing series. That's why It's A Sin came to an end and I just moved on. I like looking at a new set of challenges every time and a blank page – but Doctor Who is always a blank page. There are things coming up that are brand new ways of telling the stories that have never been done before, so it just feels new. I wouldn't go back if it wasn't feeling new. But that's the thing about Doctor Who – every episode is new. Every single episode. I'm sitting here now, 10 pages away from a climax thinking, 'God, I've never written in this territory before – this is strange and new' – so it's always new. It's a self-renewing show.
>>167998833Fuck off.
Episode?
>>167998799One thing I enjoyed about RTD1 was the revolving door of companions. Rose has 2 series, Martha 1, Donna 1, then specials one-offs.I know he wishes he'd done a second Donna series, but I think he was right to put story first and leave audiences wanting more.I'm probably in a minority on this.

That's not something that should happen with a seasoned time traveller.
>>168000186kys judy, no safe space for you
>>168000203it was a fixed point in time that they all had to die, retard. fires of pompeii also debunks your silly idea. you can make an argument like this for nearly every episode of doctor who but why? what's the point? grow up
>>168000203Wrong. The Doctor was trapped on the base, then eventually was allowed to leave, but did not do so immediately. Eventually he left, then decided to return. The fixed point in time was the crew all dying in the explosion. The Doctor altered the lives of the crew of Bowie Base One, saving three people and Gadget. The Waters of Mars is the best story, refuting all criticism against it (except the Dalek part).
>>168000277The music in the Dalek part was released and used just after the explosion.
>>168000260>>168000277 Except nothing fucking changes to the timeline if he just removes them, making it a shit fixed point in time. All the writers had to do is NOT have the whole base blow up with no evidence left to show they died there. "everyone on the base was found mysteriously drowned in the escape shuttle after the base blew up". There, now the timeline hinges on them being dead, rather than the base blowing up with nobody knowing what happened.
>>168000400ok but it's less about the fixed point and more about the hubris of the Doctor, and how he thinks he's better than everyone else and can do what he wants. doesn't matter what the fixed point is, just that he rails against something supposedly pre-destined.
>>168000400It's the best episode e'er, very exciting and interesting. Had the Doctor simply whisked the crew away, setting the base to explode, and let them live their lives elsewhere, presumed to have died on the base according to those on Earth - it is highly unlikely the crew would have understood or known what the Doctor was intending, it would have been a kidnapping. As the Doctor had it so firmly in his mind that the fixed point was both the explosion and the crew dying from this explosion (or on Mars, anyway), it is considered the case that the fixed point was not that the crew died on Mars according to people on Earth, but that the crew died on Mars, which begun a series o' fortunate events propelling humanity in advance. Hence, the crew dying on Mars was itself the fixed point, irrelevant of what was considered to be the case. The planet altering from "Mars" to "Earth" at the end signifies this difference. It is rather odd how one word changes, yet the article remains otherwise the same, that does not really seem to make sense, like in "Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane?" Anyway, it is the best story.

I hope Bowlestrek sues the fuck out of MrTardis. Clear defamation of character.PURE LIBEL IN VIDEO FORM.

Anyone seen anything wonderful on the bbc today?
Series 8 > Series 9.
>>168001375I find none of the white companions hot except perhaps Clara. Amy looks infertile. The most attractive are Martha and Bill. If you don't agree you probably have low test. No unwanted opinions please.>>168002555I can't tell you how hilarious it would be if he lost his YouTube channel. Hate the cunt.
>>168002579FA Cup final, lots of bbc action on the cards
>>168002614Donna > Martha > Bill > Rory > Amy > Dan > Clara > Rose > Graham > Yaz > Ryan
>>168002614>Bill Gay.
>>168002580I remember Series 8 fondly even though I don't actually like most of the episodes. I think it's just comfy.
>>167970880Ok but who is that blonde babe.
>>168002518qrd?
>>168002703Series 8 is superior to Series 9. The best episodes of Series 8 are Mummy on the Orient Express, Flatline and Dark Water.
>>168002760is it jodie whittaker?
>>168002837Nice, thanks,
>>168002518Fuck off Bowlestrek.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rD9r1Tvynlwin the best doctor who episode
>>168002925Why did he do it bros?
>>168002795Dark Water is akin to World Enough and Time and somewhat similar to Listen and Extremis, in that it is a first-part-styled Moffat story o' more dark and mysterious nature. Whilst Dark Water is certainly superior to its successor, the part nevertheless has a number of failings, such as the final shot interrupting the cliff-hanger and the lack of glass-smashing when the Cybermen leave their tomb. Rather than ripping open the wat out, they just let the doors slide open and march out, reducing the sense of overpowering evil, somewhat. There should have been more shots o' the Cybermen marching around London, too - the way this continues into the next part really was not very well achieved. In standard Moffat fashion, the second part alters the tone and setting substantially, which works after a week o' waiting, more than watching it one day later, in which it is too fast to change from a Cyberman invasion in London (and the remainder o' the world eventually) to the Cybermen just standing around while humans photograph them. Still, the shot o' the gun next to the baby was amusing.
Dark Water is shit. Death in Heaven is far superior minus Cyberbrig
>>168003081Dark Water > Death in HeavenScores not forthcoming through anticipated hatred.
>>168002765Turdis did a 1 hour plus video "proving" Bowlestrek was "racist" when he's literally said nothing racist.>>168002688Bill has the best body out of all the companions. Yaz also has a nice arse. Amy is arseless, no curves. Rose is a chav. Donna is ok.Kind of funny how all of the best looking companions are non-white. The best looking Doctor too, Ncuti. But he's probably gay so Tennant will take precedence for the foreseeable future.>>168003081I honestly don't get the hype for heaven sent.
anyway does anyone remember that black guy on youtube who used to collab with bowlestrek back in 2018he used to have weird rants about how Chibnall should be arrested and every video of himself had a different white woman on a bed behind himthen he sort of vanishedwas he a troll or was he for real
>>168003120Death in Heaven, not Heaven Sent! Obviously Heaven Sent is superior to Death in Heaven (and Dark Water), although it has many little errors and some really obvious errors, which detract from the quality enough to not consider it even necessarily the greatest Twelfth Doctor story.
>>168003120it's the 3rd best doctor who story
>>168003147I know who you mean but can't remember his name
>>167971036I used to think Tennant was the best doctor, but he seems to have aged poorly imo. Smith is really solid.
>>168003147more like bowelstrek
>>168003185I disagree with this conclusion. The last Fifth Doctor story, e.g. is superior (especially when viewed without the Magma Beast (although that is not really the proper story then (but still superior))).>>16800319310 > 11
>>167979630Is it true that there is a mandate that a Dalek appears in each season of new dr who?
>>168002982he did nothing wrong
>>168003229>10 > 11How recently have you rewatched his stuff? His character type is *very* late 2000s. It doesn't work anymore.
>>168003277Not confirmed but never disproven
>>168003277The Daleks appear in:Series 1 (three parts)Series 2 (two parts)Series 3 (two parts)Series 4 (two parts)The Specials (one part)Series 5 (three parts)Series 6 (one part)Series 7 (one part)Series 8 (one part)Series 9 (three parts)Series 10 (one part)Series 11 (one part)Series 12 (one part)Series 13 (three parts?)Hence, the Daleks have appeared in each "series" of the Revived Series of "Doctor Who". Whether this is entirely required or not, I have ne'er really known, for I have heard conflicting arguments. Whatever the case, the fact remains that the Daleks have appeared in each series to some capacity. It would be superior if the Daleks did not appear for at least three series, I think.>>168003308I just watched some of The Waters of Mars. Yesterday, I looked at a bit of The Unicorn and the Wasp. I watched a few seconds o' The Shakespeare Code earlier than that, and Blink once again in places. Having watched every Tenth Doctor story at least seven times fully, I tend to watch little excepts at my own discretion, for the dialogue is already fully known anyway, meaning all context is familiar. The Tenth Doctor is great!
>>168003474The Long Game is better than Blink
>>168003474The Daleks also featured in Boom Town, of course. If a Dalek was in the title sequence (though this would be entirely out-of-place), it would negate the necessity o' Daleks appearing in a story, one would think. The way the Appearance of the Daleks was achieved in Series 6 was a good way to include one without such things becoming too prominent. The Daleks were considered for The End of Time Part Two but since Moffat was to use them in Series 5, it was deemed this was be too soon afterwards, hence they were not used.>>168003554Obviously not.
