>>159681307Easily the worst episode of the show to date. I couldn't believe what I was seeing
>>159681357Take your meds and have a nap, geezer.
>>159681357What, it was your typical space anomaly episode, you could have had it on voyager with tom flying a shuttle and instead of michael saving the day with an inspiring speech it would have been some technobabble bullshit between b'elanna and janeway.
#JusticeForDenobulaWhere have they all gone?
>>159682008None of these nerd rage videos explains why that episode was "the worst episode of the show to date"
Daily reminder that Tilly is getting fatter every season.
>>159681402It was all the hand holding and "are you okay-ing" to everyone on the god damn ship. Then it was them actually giving the Trill a body again even though he's been actually literally completely dead for a year, then it was the crew of the discovery clapping when they got out of danger, and so many other really fucking stupid things. It was like everything everyone makes fun of STD about was turned up to 11 and done completely seriously in the episode without irony. It was really really fucking bad.
>>159682148Are they going to move her with a forklift in season 5? Fucking Tilly the Hutt over here. Is this all part of jj's master plan to turn Star Trek into Star Wars?
>>159682242Oh and the ship has a little safey bubble that can go around the captain if she has to have an intimate conversation with someone. Again completely seriously, as if that even needed to be a thing in the first place
But it was really just the Gray thing that got me the most. Death is just something that can be cured now. No big deal, it doesn't matter get over it. People are just supposed to accept it and not ask any questions. When Culber came back it was just as stupid because they never explained that in any detail either. If you remember someone, well they can come back to life. Somehow... But this time it just seems really weird because there's no mushroom magic, they're straight up bringing someone back from the actual dead and giving them a body
>>159682242Discovery is just touchy-feely, has been since the start. It also seems to want to address the PTSD literally everyone on the ship would have after the shit they've been through and not just in one episode with a holographic lounge singer.I could've done without the whole "Michael did a whisper-talk and Book was okay" thing but whatever, you can't just make up an inverse polaron beam to shoot out of the deflector to solve problems these days.I think you're just mad about Gray existing because they established in the finale last season that he exists as a seperate conscioussness and Culber promised him he'd get him out and into a body.>>159682287Now they don't have to move the cap into the ready room every time they need to take private calls whoop de doop the sjws ruin everything.
>>159682346You're forgetting he's Trill and that you can yank the memories of previous hosts out and chat with them so obviously this weirdness is an extension of that.
>>159682434I know he's a Trill but his host isn't. And in order to see your previous lives you needed a ritual and even then they were never really alive.... But now all the sudden it turns out they are. And you can just give them a body again. That's what's fucking my head up all the sudden.
And most of all I'm worried about Tilly. She is fucking ENORMOUS
>>159682258Lol. Im only gonna watch 1 episode per season just to see how fat she's gotten. Treating it like my 600lb life basically.
>>159682522Dem roundmeals hard to resist
>>159682346>But it was really just the Gray thing that got me the most. Death is just something that can be cured now.Not only is Gray an exceptional circumstance, they go out of the way to mention the method they're going to use to return them to live was abandoned centuries ago because of how unsuccessful it typically wasDeath isn't cured, they can't just undead Lt Redshirt who eats rocks when the shields take a hit
>>159682488They made it pretty clear this is a unique case. Could be the human host, the fact he's their boyfriend keeping him "pulled out"! as a conscious entity with no ritual needed, the fact he died suddenly and young, wacky 32nd century tech making the joining weird. It's Star Trek, there could be a million possibilities. Maybe they'll make it more clear in the future.>>159682522it's a good job disco has wide corridors
>>159682242>"are you okay-ing" to everyone on the god damn ship.>then it was the crew of the discovery clapping when they got out of dangerIt's like DISCO recognises that it's good to have sense of comradery and chemistry between the characters. Like, that's an important thing for a show to have. But they just try to do it with these hollow gestures. How the background characters look at each other and smile. But those just feel like shots they threw in as after thoughts. Because, if you want to truly build a sense of comradery and chemistry between the characters. They have to actually be characters first. They need to have personalities and dialogue and be featured in B-stories at least. But when they're writing DISCO scripts. They forget to include anyone who isn't Michael. Or like the five other mains. So they have to cobble together those smiling reaction shots from the background actors and try to trick the audience that this crew likes each other. And is FAMILY. But really, the audience is watching this and thinking 'who the fuck are any of these people?'.
>>159682623>the fact he's their boyfriend keeping him What a clusterfuck Discovery is.That thing is a she. Barely but still a she.
>>159682671It's easy to respect someone's choices if you want to. I learned that from a TV show.
I would unironically bang the shit out of her black ass.Anyone else get this feel or is it just me?
What was jadzia such a nasty bitch? Is it normal for trills to be so hedonistic and decadent?
>>159682721nah, just you, we´re all racist af herealso kys, coalburner
>>159682601If they wanted to do this they shouldn't just kill the people off they want to bring back in the first place. When they do it enough times like discovery is doing TWICE NOW, and once on Picard, it sets a really no stakes precedent. It shouldn't be used by the writers as much as they are to tell a story because it does mean death is no big deal now. It's just a really shitty thing to do to tell their stories.
>>159682702Dosent scale bro. >Everyone has their own name. Aite cool.>Everyone has their own pronouns that's not always obvious by looking at them.Ehh...>Everyone has their own gender thats different from the two that actually exist and sometimes they randomly change it like a fucking hair colourNah. Gtfo. All trannys and misgendered weirdos report to the cargo bay for immediate spacing.
>>159682702Oh also I learned my lessons from real life rather than a fucking fictional show.
>>159682777Nobody ever thinks about how Harry and Miles are both imposters walking around in the shoes of dead men.
>>159682781Usually if someone uses different pronouns they just tell you, also the neopronoun shit is overblown, don't believe everything you read.>>159682802Yeah cuz trek never had a message we just watch it for the ship pew pews and fistfights.
>>159682148Imagine the size of her shits
The thing about STD is they set up all these imminent life or death moments in the show, and I mean a fucking lot of them, and they keep fucking with the pace to such an extent where they have Michael just say STOP, or.. WAIT... and everything stops so she can have the time she needs to fix the issue or whatever it is. This is really shown in the season 2 episode where the ship is half in the mushroom universe and the section 31 ship and Pike are trying to hold the ship together, because it's just on the verge of being torn apart. But when they go to the Michael scenes everything stops because they need to talk and have emotional moments, so all the tension they build up just stops. And it happens again and again and again. And again in the episode tonight, where books ship is getting pummeled, and then they stop and Michael literally goes into a safety bubble to talk to book enough to calm him down so he can fly out using a wave. Which he fucked up the first time. It's just never been done in such a way as to literally show time stopping, and then she's like SHIP PUT ME THROUGH TO BOOK IN A PRIVATE CONVO, and then she's in a bubble, it's just so funny and fucking stupid at the same time and it keeps happening
>>159683015I don't have to imagine
>>159682816Yeah but there's at least an explanation for those and they technically weren't the same people. I mean I dunno maybe it was, maybe STD is really a genuinely good show and I'm just too stupid to see it.

To all the Amerifats in this thread, happy Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for you chaotic muppets, schizo geezers, false flagging shit posters, nutty goatherds, second life otakus, bitchy hikikomoris and gap toothed homoshipping drama queens. May your five devices get a rest and your ViacomCBS provided cutting boards get plenty of use. Non-Amerifats, you can eat a dick, it's Thursday.
>>159687314When it comes to Polish, you can just use “they” like you normally would.
>>159687678It's not widespread yet aside from on Twitter, but these things presumably take time as the idea of of "Latinx" is passed down.
>>159687729It's Friday, retard.
>>159687816For real nobody but white girls on twitter and a handful of kool-aid drinkers trying to look open minded do this shit. It's not happening.
>>159687807Pole here. Never gonna happen. People still associate speaking to a single person using plural form with the commie occupation. Faggots were also trying to push new verb suffixes (miałum, jadłum, srałum) and people just laughed it off.
>>159682148I get that we see fat humans in Trek due to using people living in our shit society, but you'd think this is something that wouldn't exist in the Trek future. It's one thing to say "no cares about baldness in the future" but unhealthy obesity isn't something that would be accepted. If they'd go out of their way to alter human DNA to prevent various diseases then controlling obesity would also be one of those things. This is the same future were having a stroke isn't a life changing thing. You take some pills and you're all better. So I find it hard to believe they would be accepting of obesity simply because the US and by extension the Western world currently accepts it.
>>159682488>But now all the sudden it turns out they are. And you can just give them a body againUh that's what happened in DS9. Jadzia put the essence Kurzon into Odo and they basically joined into a new being because they both liked this merging.
>>159688283Like Tuvix, only better.
>>159688475Someone in this thread could use a little juche.
>>159688462Yes and they weren't forced to cease existing, instead it was just another "Kurzon dicking around" thing because he felt ashamed of how he treated Jadzia and the feelings he had towards her as an initiate.

>>159681259Finally, a properly formatted OP.
>>159688475Yeah, yeah, I know. Gulags and food ration cards were strictly capitalist invention.
>>159688781The word you’re looking for is “totalitarianism”.
>>159688892Communism is a totalitarian system, yes.
>>159688892By the very definition, communism can’t be totalitarian.
Then, things got a little weird.
>>159688781Rationing is good actually. It stops people from greedily hording while others go without. It's a means to prevent inequality. To each according to need. And gulag is just a synonym for 'prison'.
>>159689503>Rationing is good actually. It stops people from greedily hording while others go without.Weird. I remember it different. The communist party officials were extremely privileged and only normal people had to deal with the ration cards, which were useless anyway, because of lack of products in stores.>And gulag is just a synonym for 'prison'.Ah, yes. The specific type of prison where entire families get send (including literal babies) and are forced to work in inhumane conditions. But what do I know? I only live in a country that got ravaged by ~50 years of communist oppression. While you, ahh... read a book maybe. Or an article, or something.

>>159689892Yeh. You do misremember it. That 'lack of products' is largely a myth based on a very limited time. Right at the end. And, inequality greater now than then. And Socialism is canonically good in Star Trek. So, I don't know why you'd be against it?

Does Riker actually do anything on the ship besides being Picard's yes man?
>>159690434Literally everything you wrote is a lie. Even this:>Socialism is canonically good in Star Trek.Post-scarcity society that values meritocracy, hierarchy and self-improvement has nothing to do with any known form of socialism.

>>159691736Oh, because they're not doing communism *right*.
>>159691736As a precaution, to guard against the disposed gusanos and their inevitable counter-revolutions. Duh.
>>159691517Harsh? Maybe, but ultimately fair.Unfortunately for Old Trek, its bigoted nature takes away from its artistic merit. How can you treat Picard’s speeches about ethics seriously when the men behind the camera were fervidly homophobic? It’s impossible to ignore.>B-but the formalist approach!Bullshit. You can’t just ignore the context the work was created in.New Star Trek is Star Trek in its purest and most refined form.It is not the exploration of stars that awaits us. It’s the exploration of ourselves, our sexualities and our lives.

Not a single Human being on Earth believes in any of the nonsense that has plagued our civilization for thousands of years. This was an important part of Roddenberry's mythology. He, himself, was a secular humanist and made it well-known to writers of Star Trek and Star Trek: The Next Generation that religion and superstition and mystical thinking were not to be part of his universe. On Roddenberry's future Earth, everyone is an atheist. And that world is the better for it.

It's a direct nod to that.If Richard & Mortimer did the same thing their fanbase would fill their pants and that's essentially a near identical concept just based on a mix of scifi shows & movies like Back to the Future
>>159701872>fanbase would fill their pants
>>159701872You're a fucking idiot.
>>159701308They’re called minis.
>>159701991kekWhy are LDronies so pathetic.
>>159701792> All my online enemies are just this one guy!
Where’s Valley Forge?
>>159702071It was beyond based when McMahan utterly crushed their spirits.
>>159702192I can absolutely believe /trek/ is plagued by a handful of shitposting faggots that will post anything that can get a response sure.
>>159702192>ST LOW is Your New Favorite TrekActually I hate star trek. I just love Lower Decks
Somehow /who/ is a better place to browse than here now. How did we get to this point?
>>159702315Judy can’t post in two threads at once.
>>159702244Cutting board's face when
>>159702315What is /who/ like? Is it comfy there?
>>159702219Laura Palmer's house. Staying there for $100 a night.
>>159702456Brits are generally more cynical. Everyone knows Nurse Who is shite and they make the best of it.
>>159702510Is there a giant metal sign in Wales that says W A L E S? Serious question.
>>159702456>Is it comfy there? It has a lot of problems, but you can discuss the show in /who/ occasionally.
>>159702315Doctor who fans lack the inherent hatred and rage that comes with being a star trek fan. It's a cultural institution for brit bongs, a point of pride whereas star trek fans for most of their existence were pushed to the wayside, ridiculed or be closeted in their adoration for star trek. It's only in the last 10 or 15 years has it become "ok" to be a star trek fan.
>>159702688I liked being a star trek fan a lot more when my hobby wasn't polluted with soiboy normies and consoomers.
>>159702688I've been a fan of trek for over 20 years and I'm not angry in the slightest.
>>159681307PACK IT UPPACK IT INLET ME BEGINhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhzpxjuwZy0
>>159702787Some might consider spamming the same fucktarded tranny cartoon pics over and over again to be quite angry.
>>159702787Me too! Of course, as a fan of all Trek including New Trek, I'm winning.
>>159702688As a British Doctor Who fan, most Doctor Who fans hate Doctor Who.>a point of prideThe BBC themselves sabotaged Doctor Who because they didn't like it.
>>159702892It’s kinda pathetic.
>>159702892You really should calm down.
>>159702832A Danger 5 like show that takes places during TOS would be dope. Instead of all the lense flare and everything looking like an Apple store make everything look as retro and cheap as possible.
>>159702997Calmer than you are.
>>159702777Fair enough, so did I to be honest.>>159702787I'm sure there are delusional exceptions to the rule. Glad you're out and proud. >>159702945It's iconic. Most doctor who fans love it. Don't conflate your fellow shitposters on 4chan saying "I hate doctor who, and I say that as a fan!" with the public at large.
>>159702892Happy Treksgiving, you miserable old coot.
>>159701400>shouting and profanity is funnyarcher, a show entirely based around a 1 trick gag of sex and profanity, has less shouting and profanity in its entire season than 1 episode of this shit.
>>159703167>>159702997>>159702895>>159702787>>159702261>>159702151>>159701583>>159701400You look tired.
>>159703081The public at large usually just attach themselves to one or two Doctors and dismiss the rest.
>>159703274Like catholics and popes. It's still almost a religion to tea drinkers.
My husband won't fit
>159701950so easy lol>159701984deep bait 9 sent a subspace message, turns out you're retarded
>>159703257The cat was the only post of those by me.If you think all of those posters are one person with multiple devices and that person has nothing better to do than enrage you, you are wrong. Many posters enjoy causing your impotent rage.
>>159703274>attach themselves to one or two Doctors and dismiss the restWhich ones? I need to know so I don't end up on the wrong team by mistake.
>>159703766Everyone is different. For the most part people get attached to their first doctor. "Their doctor". It skews heavily to #4 and #10. However if you're interested in watching it start at the 2005 revival and go through doctors 9,10,11,12. Don't bother with 13, you will be angry if not then retroactively if you go on and watch the rest. If you're still interested watch the TV movie and then start at Doctor 1. With the idiosyncrasies and personalities of the various doctors you should at least find one of which should appeal to you.
>>159703555You’re embarrassing yourself.
