>>

>>
>>159688876
She has a sort of alt-girl look, not quite arthoe.
I asked if she was into cinema and she said yes, so I just dropped a few names, but she didn't know any.
I don't think the conversation stopped over that, but sometimes I wonder if it's even worth mentioning these names to plebs.

Didn't care much for it.
>>
>>159689506
Watch whatever you are feeling at the moment, he is like a jazz musician who is always sort of keeping his style fresh while also coming back to certain themes or aesthetics.

>>159690635
The Eclipse set Oshima in the Sixties has a lot of great ones in it. I personally really love Pleasure of the Flesh as a sort of slow film to vibe out too. But most people really love Sing a Song of Sex, which I enjoyed the aesthetics of but the plot got a bit dull for me towards the end, still very good.

>>159692345
I personally think In the Realm of the Senses is his best, just keep in mind that the threshold between porn and art becomes completely crossed. Don't get too excited either cause there is a really ugly sex scene that made my stomach churn.
But like I said earlier the eclipse set criterion made is incredibly solid as an introduction to him.

Are there any directors that have strong philosophical insight in their films, and they themselves have a good grasp on the history of philosophy?
>>
>>159699234
Bruno Dumont
>>
>>159699234

>filtered by Cronenberg while praises Veliienuehack
Villenueve was never good not now not before Hollywood. I respect Armond White for some opinions but sometimes he's embarassngly countrarian and out of touch. Yeah Villenueve wasn't as popular back then but he was still clearly a hack that pandered to Hollywod sensibilities. He couldn't see past that and praised him just because he wasn't very famous at the time.
I don't get why Armond has such a hate boner for Weerathetakul either. The new apes trilogy was an overly serious bore with heavy handed social commentary. That was apparent in the first film and got worse with next ones. Jack and Jill was clearly Armond shitposting. Real Steel was also a dull bore.
He shills Dumont, Costa and Bruce la Bruce tho, and that I respect.

Kys faggot. To accept Villeneuve as a quality director is to garb yourself in a coat of hot pockets and video games and then writhe around on the ground in a supermarket while screeching and slapping yourself on the sides of your head. He is cheeto dust. Nothing more. Nothing more than a hack, a useful tool for studios to trot out to say "Hey, we're making art house!" I cannot wrap my head around the adulation he receives, let alone the wide praise this has got. The film trudges from set piece to set piece, leaves us no real questions or anything to think about really. The same bullet that kills a capeshit fan will also kill the Villeneuve and Paul Thomas Anderson fan. They come from the same root, from the same doritos stained console. They are frauds, and as a warrior of cinema it's my duty to expose the fakes and the inauthentic when I see them. I will fight with crawls and teeth until the last imposter is fallen to the ground I have about as much respect for denis villeneuve as I do for the dogshit on my shoe. It is reddit. It is video game hot pocket. It is capeshit. It is cheeto dust. I'm literally screaming right now and slamming my arms down on my desk just thinking about it. Imagine sitting next to an Villeneuve fan. The smell as he rubs the cheeto dust into his body in preparation for viewing his "based" movie. The flutter of his fedora as he tips ecstatically as Deakins pans shots in great numbers like one of his video game cutscenes. The sound of him vibrating at the hot pocket resonance every time "based" meme actor is on screen. It is the most depraved video game infantilized manchild degeneracy. It is saturday morning cartoon. It is non-neurotypicality. It is memes. It is video game. It is tarantino. It is imdb. It is coca-cola puberty. it is axe body spray. it is a white stain on boxer shorts. it is arri alexa hot dog caffeine on disney channel
