How about them horror movies lads
>>157633567I'm house sitting for a friend for the next 4 days so I'll have access to Shudder for the first time. What originals/exclusives are must watches on there?Genre isn't a big deal to me, I'm down for anything.
>get m&ms >watch horror
>>157633665I just watched this for the first time tonight. Definitely holds up, effects and all. Looking forward to watching the rest of the franchise.
I have a thing for chubby girls with big tits.
>>157633667Well VHS 94 just came out, but not a lot of people here liked it. I thought it was okay. There’s the “in search of darkness” documentary for horror shit which is like 4 hours long. I’m not sure what else is exclusive to it. I just watch whatever pops up>shudder Be careful you don’t summon the schizo who thinks if you mention a streaming service you’re shilling
>>157633737forget, is it this one or the second one that's a massive bonermachine all throughout?
>>157633769for me its sporty girls with Kung Fu kicks
>>157633791the second one is super gay
Friendly reminder to my /hor/ bros: Don't reply to bait posts, don't get into stupid arguments or arguments about things that aren't /hor/ related, and remember to get comfy.
>>157633667If you're into creature feature schlock, this and Boar are both on Shudder. The former is definitely the better of the two, even if the latter has brief moments of Rictus Erectus fighting a giant killer boar. Beyond that, watch VHS94, I guess. /hor/ has so many opinions about it.
>yo just bury your cat in the pet semetary lmfao>oh wait I forgot to tell you, I did it to my dog and he turned evil hahaWhat the fuck, bro?
>>157633737The original Nightmare on Elm Street doesn't have hold up well at all, are you high?
Just finished pic related and I dug it. It had one of those typical LOL WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON Japanese horror endings that would have usually annoyed me, but the movie overall was just too good to be bothered by it. Never really tries to spoop you into a heart attack or shock you with gore though, but it maintains a wonderfully creepy atmosphere from the very beginning to the end. It also looks fantastic for a made-for-TV movie.
>>157633817for me it's sleepy blondes
>>157633882No, but my wife was.
>>157633791You're probably talking about The Dream Master, the 4th movie.
>>157633857bro what the fuck did they really make two horror movies about boars? i gotta see that
>>157633667Slaxx is really dumb but far better than a killer pants movie has any right to be
>>157633923oh maybe. i cavalcaded a chunk of the series two years ago and just remember one of the earlier ones having a 10/10 hottie in some risque scenes
>>157633938Only separated by 33 years. It shows.
>>157634011i think that no matter what your definition of slasher is it must include college aged girls with nice tiddys
>>157633894For me its patricia arquette on tales from the crypt
im going to watch this right now and none of you can stop me
reposting so we can continue the slasher discussion here >>157632678The way Black Christmas presents it's killer is very unconventional though, not at all like majority of slasher films.>>157632710>>157632768>>157632828I was arguing that Texas Chainsaw Massacre was the first slasher because it features so many elements of the genre but Black Christmas may have been the first "defined" slasher that standardized the tropes. But if we want to get technical, there's also Peeping Tom from 1960.>>157632694I haven't really seen enough giallo to be able to distinguish the difference between the two but it's probably a good place to start. Categorically, I probably wouldn't call House a slasher film but when it gets to the routine of the kills -- picking the girls off one by one, it starts to feel a lot like it.>Wes Craven's creativity, whether it be explicitly and absolutely supernatural as in the Elm Street series or a unique twist on the genre like in ScreamWhile he absolutely did refresh the genre with those ideas I'm not sure how explicitly creative I would call it. For example I think the idea of Freddy, a killer that kills you in your dreams, is more creative than the idea of a supernatural slasher itself. And even then what makes Freddy (and I guess Ch*cky) work is that they were originally human, right? If it were just a monster or something, would that really feel like a slasher? I'm not sure if a radical change needs to take place but I do think slashers need to be properly modernized. I'm tired of "throwback" work. It's lazy and never as good as the actual films from that time period.>While I like Halloween, I don't think Michael Myers is a particularly interesting conceptI don't even think Jason is an interesting concept, I really don't get what people see in him. The reverse Psycho thing going on from the first film with Pamela as the villain is a lot more intriguing.
>>157634122>>While I like Halloween, I don't think Michael Myers is a particularly interesting concept>I don't even think Jason is an interesting concept, I really don't get what people see in himYou guys don’t get why a more realistic and more brutal killer with no solid motives is scary to people??
>>157634011what film?>>157634079tits are overrated
>>157633894For me it's sleepy brunettes
>>157633567what are some rape revenge films that aren't super fucking boring
>>157633667Haunt, if you haven't seen it
>>157634115>none of you can stop meBut we can pray for you.
>>157634122a slasher must have a singular humanoid killer that murders a group of college aged kills. is that a good start?
>>157634192Savage Streets is a decent watch, if for nothing else for how corny it is for a rape revenge movie, and for prime Linda Blair's tits.
>>157634159tits = tummy > thighs = ass > shoulders = back >>> weird shit > armpits
>>157633692Peanut M&M's I hope...
The adults were 100% at fault. Throughout the film, you don't see them make the slightest effort to educate or understand these kids (Gordon being the exception, and he was the only adult the children respected a little). All these kids received were bullying from other children, and discrimination from the adults, who were afraid of them just because they were different. Even before they killed a single person, the military already wanted to lock them up or kill them. Fuck them. The kids didn't do anything wrong.
>>157634249>Linda BlairDo they rape her?
>>157634192Revenge has a hot girl basically naked the whole movie
>>157633551I think we agree more than we disagree, though I was referring to Freddy's dream abilities when I was referring to the creativity. I think we need to tap into ideas like that to revitalize the genre and I don't think we see that sort of creativity often enough. I don't think Jason is a particularly interesting concept either, and I think his appeal comes from his appearance and that aura of rage he gives off but, I think as far as the films themselves go, they had the right idea when they made films like Part 7, even if the execution left a lot to be desired. They were trying to do something creative and fun by making Jason fight not-Carrie, it just didn't pan out as well as it could have. I still think shlock ideas like that should be encouraged and made use of. >And even then what makes Freddy (and I guess Ch*cky) work is that they were originally human, right? If it were just a monster or something, would that really feel like a slasher? As for this, I'm not so sure. I think it's easy to cross the line into creature feature territory, but doesn't Alien kind of feel like a slasher in a way? Maybe not the first chunk of the movie, but once the thing matures and is skulking around the ship, it does take on a slasher feeling, doesn't it? But with that said, generally I think it's best to keep it within the realm of humanity, as I feel having a strong screen presence on the part of the killer is a boon (though maybe not essential). It's a different feeling with a monster.
>>157634011Thank you for your sacrifice.
>>157634249>too bad you're not double jointed.
>>157634335Her sister, played by Linnea Quigley is the one who gets raped in that one. In a perfect world, both of them would've been raped together.
>>157634254move shoulders up between tummy and thighs and you got a deal
>>157634335They rape her sister; a pre-boob job Linnea Quigley.
>>157634418It tends to move around honestly, the baboon in me likes a booty but shoulders will sometimes activate diamond mode, while ass is more consistent.
>>157634521>flesh + bloodWould you really call this one rape revenge? She immediately dominates Rutger Hauer during the attempt it's the hottest fucking thing imaginable
>>157633882It holds up just fine.
>>157633567Just finished angel, it would have been better if they fleshed out the antagonist instead of focusing on the mc so much
Just watched Demons 1985 last night for the first time. That was pretty entertaining, great practical effects even if the plot was predictable
>>157634614>Would you really call this one rape revenge?yesand she doesn't immediately "fuck Martin"she does it as a way of coping and inverting the initial power play, but it objectively still is rape (as hot as it indeed is)and the vengeance part is by proxy, but stillthe mechanism of Flesh + Blood is rape & revenge, through and through
>>157634155Would you really consider Michael and Jason brutal and realistic? Seriously? And Jason absolutely has a motive. I think the only slasher film villains I've felt even a little frightened by have been Freddy and Billy. Billy is what I would consider a realistic killer. >>157634237>a slasher must have a singular humanoid killer that murders a group of college aged kills. is that a good start?Halloween, NoES, and Scream predominantly feature high schoolers. And slashers were mostly a teen phenomenon, right? That being said I think that's one part of the formula that should be excised. Focusing exclusively on a set age range doesn't leave much room for creativity, besides, a lot of slasher films actually do include the death of one or even a few older people. But a single humanoid killer for sure. What about a location? Do we agree that slasher films take place in one location? Or are there a lot of titles that invalidate that? One that I think can be said definitely is that there has to be something connecting the victims together, but the connection could be as simple as them all being friends. Does that sound good?
>>157634677highschool student prostitute? this sounds like prime /tv/ material
>>157634249>prime Linda Blair's tits.I just watched Hell Night last night. Chubby her was so hot.
>>157634521>cannibal holocaustIt was incredibly hot how they all pinned her down but lift her legs and one of them just fuck her relentlessly. Wish they use someone with bigger tits though.
Is wishmaster shit?
>>157633890Now check out sick nurses
>>157634810weird that Deodato didn't use his signature pinku music for that scene, desu
>>157634772its mild af
i'm tired of watching shit movies
>>157634772>highschool student prostitute?
>>157634994you know of another way to find a handful of great ones?
watched Drag me to Hell last night. I was drunk so it wasn’t bad but dead lord does Sam Raimi have a pile fetish or what ?
>>157634192>>157634521oh, also A Clockwork Orange (1971)
>>157634718>Would you really consider Michael and Jason brutal and realistic? Seriously? In the early movies, yeah. More so than the ghost supernatural shit. Some big guy could wail on you like Jason or Michael. They don’t shoot laser beams.
>>157633667Caveat. It's a low budget film, not necessarily scary throughout, but has some great creepy moments and even a little bit of humor. I never hear anyone talk about it, but it's great.
>>157635084dumb phone poster tried to type puke but his apple icuck brainwashing device took control away from him
i'm gonna have a SOV week with a few things lined up. starting with pic related and moving on tothingssledgehammerthe soultanglerninja zombie& franky and his palsalso own blood lake and killing spree but already watched thosewhat are some other SOV recommendations?

>>157634521pic related, aka Death Weekend
>>157634828It's loads of fun, but very 80s and a bit predictable. But loads of fun.
This was a great little atmospheric mystery. 3 eps on ShudderBeyond The Walls 2016>Lisa, a young speech therapist, inherits a house from a mystery man. When she moves in she finds a a dark maze to a different world full of ghosts and creatures from her past.
Are there any dude rape and revenge films where he kills women who diddled him
>>157635116it's trash. stop shilling garbage.
am i supposed to watch the English or the German version of Herzog's Nosferatu
hey, this was actually bretty gud.
>>157635309german of course. you aren't an american brainlet who can't read subtitles fast enough to watch the movie are you?
>>157635139What is this? Jaws dubbed over by a cleaning lady?
>>157635060is the movie about the gypsy curse?
>>157635345just don't watch The Collection
>>157635345Yep, it's Kino. The sequel is also good. Too bad they're not gonna make a third one.
>>157635162what did you watch that was so bad anon?
>>157635291OK, I'll stop having an opinion about Caveat, which is a really good low budget horror film. I'll stop talking about it right now because you said it was trash.
>>157635162sad, because it's greatgorgeous as fuck, but not justowl killer, locked up theater, final survivor as a little crawling mouse (owls love that), and controlling actors as a themeI'm not into gialli at all, nor 80's Italian gorgeous but shallow aesthetics, and yet, I loved that one
Nightmares & Dreamscapes: From the Stories of Stephen Kinghttps://letterboxd.com/film/nightmares-dreamscapes-from-the-stories-of-stephen-king/were any of these episodes good. I remember liking the book, especially Suffer the Children i've never forgotten. His short stories are usually better than his novels
>>157635402>OK, I'll stop having an opinion about Caveatstop reading there, b/c i know absolutely no sarcasm followed. thank you.
>>157635173thanks, will watch
So a few years back I watched a movie on Netflix that was about a girl who stayed behind on her college campus during Christmas or Thanksgiving and gets stalked by a killer. I cannot remember the name of it or any other details. Sound familiar to anyone else?It wasn't particularly good either.
>>157635414idk but have you seen that stephen king miniseries with linoge where he steals all the children during a big storm on an island off the coast of maine? spooked me big time as a youngling
>>157635432Caveat's pretty good, actually.
>>157635353>german of course. you aren't an american brainlet who can't read subtitles fast enough to watch the movie are you?
>>157635244Sounds like feminist sewage.
>>157633852Reporting the cumbrains is effective.
just finished the night housei had high expectations and it for the most part it did not disappointit executed the shift from "oh okay this is one of them A24 slow burners the kids love to meme about" to OH SHIT! very well and it did a fairly good job of keeping up the surreal pace from there. i was afraid it was going to lose some steam near the end and it did for a bit but the ending itself mostly mended whatever it lost with some closuremost importantly, i can't help but feel like the whole thing is an homage to this classichttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ns1SGo3WCF4
idk why you retards were praising Superhost. What a fucking nothing burger. Should've been a short or added more plot and what plot there was so dumb.
>>157635544in what way does that blurb imply "feminist"?
>>157635375Why the collection is great too
>>157635624eh I thought it was pretty garbage, thought most people agreed. Guess I was wrong.
>>157635345Definitely watch the sequel too.>>157635393Eh it doesn't need it. The Collection has a pretty perfect ending already.
>>157635516Based and truthpilled. Everyone knows the Germans are big dub guys
>>157635647you really gonna give up on your opinion just cause one guy says its good? thats some weak fucking backbone dude.
>>157635291Caveat is one of the better horror films to come out in a while. It's a scientific fact that you're the one with the garbage opinion, my friend.

>>157635687I don't feel like arguing and I was factually wrong that I assumed everybody thought it was bad. I still think it sucks but if others like it who am I to tell them they're wrong.

>>157633863He did try to help the doctor and his kid. Also the burial ground affected everyone in subtle ways

Vicious Fun was fun, good rec anon
>>157634367>I was referring to Freddy's dream abilities when I was referring to the creativity. I think we need to tap into ideas like that to revitalize the genreMy only thing is, what other ideas "like that" are there? What could be done? What's a new creative way to be a serial killer? Even Candyman already took the "Bloody Mary" approach. Maybe a killer that can only kill you if you eat dry toast on a Tuesday? I really don't know. And funny you mention that as I'm about to rewatch Part 7. It's one of the few Friday films I actually liked. But taking concepts into account I think Jason Goes to Hell had an interesting enough idea where his soul inhabited other people's bodies, although the execution was shit. I'm also not sure how well a possessor-slasher could realistically pan out. It's something that sounds very generic but also hasn't really been done, right? I thought Nightmare on Elm Street 2 pulled it off pretty well. Ron Grady's death is probably my favorite slasher kill. >but doesn't Alien kind of feel like a slasher in a way?To be completely honest, I haven't seen Alien yet, but you raise a really good point. Because I forgot about Terminator. The first Terminator film feels quite a lot like a slasher film despite the killer being a future robot with a gun. >>157635105>In the early movies, yeah.I can at least see how Michael could be scary, given the right context, but personally he just doesn't do anything for me. I think Freddy is scarier because anyone is vulnerable to his attacks. Everybody dreams and "every town has an Elm Street". He has full control of the situation, which makes him nigh unbeatable. You know it's like "there's nothing to fear but fear itself" and Freddy thrives off fear, he's fear personified. This is mostly hypothetical though as the movies have done little to delve into how scary Freddy truly can be.
>>157635769>r8 No.Pretty close to what I’ve watched though
>>157635780man. you're too sensible for /tv/ dude the fuck you doin not rage-arguing every irrelevant and minute difference of opinion?

>>157635786They did a fantastic job of creating a nightmarish feel. Some really spooky moments too.The cinematography left a lot to be desired though.

>>157635105>>157635825And I ran out of space but I was gonna the reason why I find Billy (Black Christmas) scary is the same reason why you find Michael scary. He's completely shrouded in mystery with seemingly no motive whatsoever.
>>157635825I just get why they are scary to people, neither ever really scared me. Michael and Jason are kind of the slightly supernatural version of the generic slasher, which can exist irl. So I get it
>>157635882even the director said it was shit in an interview and, i quote, "all the people who like it are literal retards."
>>157635116I watched it, didn't like it, too A24 slowburn brood le vague weirdness, but the scene with the corpse in the basement was fucking incredible

>>157636103Every segement seems to take way too long to get to the good part. The "overarching" story was more than the other ones but was just dumb and the original of just some hoodlums finding tapes was a better idea

>>157636266The Bay is great. Last Shift is pretty good, but I think Autopsy of Jane Doe and Oculus are better.
>>157636294*Planet Terrorwatchable, but nothing too special, imhoDeath Proof is slow boiling, but I love it: first half is a weird slasher (all kills in an instant), second half is a rape and revengeexcept the killer is a premature ejaculator, and is thus forced to rapekill with his caralso, the lovemaking to a car in the second part is a lot better than in titane, desuplus it has Jordan Ladd and Mary Elizabeth Winstead in their primealso, Death Proof as a standalone film isn't the same as in the two part Grindhouse (in the former Stuntman Mike actually gets his lap dance)
>>157636208Marathoned all 3 earlier today. Thought the same thing. The first is solid but it's like the other 2 are by a different director who didn't "get" the first one They're all by the same guy though.
>>157636357yeah not gonna rush to get around to watching it then, got a 3 or 4 left in the backlog of stuff i really want to watch before getting to low expectations and god forbid rewatches but the closer you get to halloween the more desperation there is for a fix, so it'll fit in somewhere

Also, do the Friday the 13th films canonically take place in the future? Is that why Jason X is like that? The first movie was released in 1980 and takes place in either 1980 or 1979, but Part 2 released only one year later in 1981 takes place 5 years after the events of the first film. Then between Part 4 (1984) and Part 5 (1985) another 5 years past because Tommy Jarvis goes from 12 to 17. And finally Part 7 (1988) opens up directly after the events of Part 6 with Jason still at the bottom of the lake, but then immediately has a 7 year timeskip where Tina goes from 10 to 17.
>>157636596Don’t think about it too hard. The writers didn’t either
I think the problem with nu-slashers is that they're primarily being made by edgelords who grew up on Hostel and unironically idolize slasher villains, so instead of more fun or creative kills you get a five minute scene of a woman begging and crying while the "badass" killer slowly saws into a fake leg. They also take the "people only watch for the kills" too literally and either just make it a boring montage of unrelated murders or half-assedly write a protag who exists solely to be torturously killed in a "shocking" twist ending that was obvious to anyone remotely familiar with the genre. It's not a coincidence that most of the beloved 80s slasher classic have characters other than the killer that people remember and root for, but mordern slashers don't see that. See Terrifier, Red Eye (2017), Laid to Rest, and all the Wrong Turn sequels after 2 and before the reboot for what I'm talking about. The only recentish slasher I know of that didn't have this issue is the Hatchet series but the last one was pretty lackluster. Terrifier 2 might also be attempting to fix this considering how the director has talked about the protag, but I won't hold my breath.
>>157636581well, that's basically what awaits them with Leto II (more like becoming museum pieces)>>157636589I hate villeneuve, so ymmvLynch's isn't exactly a faithful adaptation, and the lack of a director's cut gives it a weird cut (Lynch is a ultra-narcissist, and doesn't even want to remember he didn't have full control over the theatrical cut)but it's still glorious, and is fucking gorgeousvilleneuve's, as always, is insipid
>>157636596>Also, do the Friday the 13th films canonically take place in the future? Is that why Jason X is like that?AKSHUALLY, they knew they were gonna do Freddy Vs Jason eventually, so they set the opening in the future so that it took place after the events of Freddy Vs Jason. Jason X was supposed to help remind people of Jason before FvJ

I have no idea how they pull it off. I guess like, getting paid helps? Idk. I know if you put out a casting call you would probably add that the role requires nudity of some kind but just commanding a bitch to take her bra off on set? that's crazy. George Lucas was insane.
>>157637958It's money and pressure. People will do a lot to not rock the boat and if they sign on to do a film and know there is nudity they can't just back out. Film making takes a long time and is usually done on a tight schedule. If the actress gets cold feet and bitches for 45 minutes about not wanting to do the shower scene anymore then EVERYONE working on the film is going to be upset. Think about it, would you rather hang dong in a 4 minute scene or make all of your coworkers hate you? There are some stories of directors or crew members trying to ease the discomfort, I remember Friday the 13th Part 4 originally only the girls were going to get naked in the skinny dipping scene but the male cast decided to also get naked to make the girls feel a bit more comfortable.I don't remember who it was but I also recall hearing about a director directing a nude scene naked himself because the girl felt uncomfortable.

I think ripping ideas from folklore and myth is a good idea (watched Ravenous recently and it made me think of that). I even think super shlocky stuff like that F13th: Jason and the Argonauts idea that floats around here is great too. There's all sorts of stuff to be tried as long as you're willing to throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks. Women are scary like that. I mean, depending on what they're like and the level of production a girl could just show up to a shoot one day with no bra. Do you think Wes Craven really stood there and told Rose McGowan to take her bra off? >The day before filming began, McGowan put herself in charge of her character’s wardrobe>McGowan jumped into a cab to pick out Tatum’s wardrobe at the local mall, purchasing “quadruple of everything”: cloud pajamas, a lime-green turtleneck sweater, two patterned skirts, and a “10” T-shirt.>“I would never in my life wear a ‘10’ shirt,” McGowan chuckles. ”I would never want someone reading my breasts if I could avoid it. But Tatum would definitely wear one.>They shot the death scene more than 20 times from every angle, in what McGowan describes as freezing cold temperatures.>“Nobody told me about the nipple situation,” she laughs. “I wasn't powerful enough to warrant seeing the dailies, so I never knew. But for years people would come up to me or write online to say I wore prosthetics, and I'm like, ‘Why?’”Well I guess that answers that

But the idea is extremely flimsy. There's nothing to actually connect the would-be victims. No reason why a group of girls with big asses would all be together in one place. It's definitely workable. Dare I say it's kino.Thank you. I've posted about it before, I'm just not sure how to go about it or what to do with it. I was originally taking a lot of inspiration from House, Possibly in Michigan, the story of Orpheus, and Kafka's Metamorphosis. I was putting most of the focus on the killer but I realized that giving him such a pathetic backstory would make him absolutely not scary. I mean, now that I think about it, the horror would've been ruined anyway because the idea was that one of the victims would be the doppelganger of the woman he was in love with. And seeing that again he'd begin to regain his humanity and try to romance her. You know, I think I realize now that I was trying to make two different films at the same time. One a slasher and one a Phantom of the Opera King Kong sort of thing. I'm stupid.
