Each series has a logical, stoic, scientific minded, not very emotional, calm archetype.
In TOS it's Spock.
In TNG it's Data.
In DS9 it's Dax.
In ENT it's T'Pol.

What's crazy is that in like 10+ years you will literally be able to do this. Don't like how the actress looks? Put a deepfake filter on her, change her to anyone you want. There will be nude filters and gender bender filters and anything you want. Shits going to get weird.

>>
>When the show first began, the writers immediately ran into trouble with the character of Dax, finding it extremely difficult to define her. As Michael Piller later explained, "Having a Trill seemed like a really, really good idea at the time, but it was the most difficult character for us to define. Jadzia Dax escaped us. At first, we thought she was going to be ethereal, a Grace Kelly/Audrey Hepburn kind of goddess, and ultimately I think Ira Behr really figured it out, probably not until the second season, when he really made her a smart-talking, wise-cracking tough cookie." (New Frontiers: The Story of Deep Space Nine, DS9 Season 2 DVD special features) In 2014, Farrell commented she found the character initially frustrating. "The writers didn't know what to do with the character they created," saying she was asked to portray the character as a cross between Grace Kelly and Yoda. She was also irritated by a scene written where Dax gossiped about who was dating whom on the station, questioning, "Why would a 350 year old person care about who you're going out with?" [1] Piller explained, "The more we've written her, the more we're finding that she is not what she appears to be. That underneath this placid exterior, there's all these various personalities that she's gone through that are in turmoil and there's a lot of inner conflict. You know all the voices we hear inside ourselves are all made up of different subpersonalities; well she's got them all screaming at her in a variety of different ways." (Trek: Deep Space Nine: The Unauthorized Story, p. 11)
Even Terry Farrel was upset when Dax went from "wise old man in a young woman's body" to "like, totally, let's go shopping!"

>>
no
>>
>>153930505
It's not as large in scope. It's the nearest we get to Star Trek: The Motion Picture: The Series. Also it portrays everyone in Starfleet that's not a member of the Enterprise crew as a dipshit.
>>
>>153930505
I like the execution, but I really don't like the entire concept. WOK had a great ending, then SFS completely undoes it by reviving Spock and destroying the Genesis planet.

unlike 1 and 2, it doesn't hold up by itself since the plot is just merely undoing everything established by 2
Also unlike 1 and 2 the cinematography is incredibly bland and spartan
It feels like a pointless made-for-tv sequel to 2 as a result
Also recasting Kirstie Allie was a fucking crime

All you need to know is that Khan was a bad guy who Kirk beat up in the past, Chekov gives the audience the other relevant details in the bug scene, the rest of the movie is your tried and true revenge story
SFS doesn't contribute anything interesting on its own merits: it's most dramatic moments are just undoing the introduction of Kirk's son from 2, undoing the creation of genesis from 2, undoing the death of spock from 2, and also some forgettable klingons die
>>
I have this inside joke with my dad that our pet doggy is a Klingon haha

>>
>>153932243
I wrote headcannon about the tr-116 and how ever federation ship had an armory for batte with the borg since the borg wasn't immune to projectile weapons
>>
Jadzia did a lot more and actually had a purpose in the show and the crew needed her. Ezri was just there.

>Kira has always had a shitty haircut
Yes, and she had a fat butt and wide hips too. It looked weird in her uniform.
>>
>>153932364
it's hard to replace a seasoned older cast member that has been on a show for years and years, especially when the show is winding down and everyone knows it. She was in an unwinnable situation given that she was younger and more inexperienced than Jadzia and way less competent and confident.
>>
>>153932351
>the borg wasn't immune to projectile weapons
When was this established? In First Contact Picard uses holographic bullets.
>>
>>153932461
funfact - Kira was fucking Sisko at one point (even though he was married)
>>
>>153932506
Was this before season 1? When did they say this?
>>
>>153932482
you can use a sword to kill a borg or mechanical traps
picard also used holographic bullets which were "real bullets"
y the borg weren't already adapted since they obviously would have encountered projectile bullets before so they don't have a defense
against bullets or bladed weapons
>>
>>153932482
I feel like projectiles in general are weirdly ignored in Trek. They don't really mention it with the Borg. Also, ships ramming other ships is somehow always super effective, so I guess shields don't work like that?
>>
>>153932206
I'll add the the enterprise destruction scene is awesome, but it doesn't save an otherwise subpar movie
Enterprise stealing sequence is overrated as fuck
>>
>>153932596
They weren't real bullets, they were force field projections, the same as any energy weapon. Eventually the Borg would have adapted. Sorry this breaks your headcanon bullshit.
>>
>>153932545
no I mean the actors. A friend of my ex-wife worked on set and said it was somewhat well known by the makeup artists and such.

explain swords or hand weapons or how the borg still were effected by wooden traps?
also they were holographic bullets imitating real bullets

>>
>>153932693
Imitating the effects of real bullets. Otherwise, why didn't Picard just replicate some tommy guns and liberate the ship? As for swords, going melee with Borg during FC and after is a quick way to get assimilated.
>>
How physically strong is a Borg? Would he wreck any human in a fist fight?
>>

Typically, Data is stronger than Worf and even he would struggle with more than a few.

Nearing the endnof DS9 and Garak and Dukat are the most interesting characters so far. I Like Quark and Odo. Dax is interesting. Kira is a blue haired dyke that I hate. Cisco is growing on me. O'Brien has the best episodes though being a hotheaded Irishmen and fixing everyones fuckups. I vaguely remember watching this show as a kid and not liking it because I thought it was going to be the TNG crew and these new guys from the first episode and was disappointed that they never came back.

DSN came about when television shows got a little deeper drama, every episode had continuation and arcs through out the series but rarely maintained the self-contained stories the the then standard of 1st episode-filler-2episodearc-filler-2 episode finale cliffhanger. That was something they couldn't get away from on network tv and was always built in. The filler episodes were self contained and told a captivating story that didn't really ever impact anything from episode to episode. DS9 kind of made every filler episode has some kind of impact on the next.
