what's the scariest movie ever?
That one about white people
>>149239520gotta say the original The Exorcistive watched horror movies that scared me during the film, but afterwards i felt fine. but The Exorcist left me feeling kinda nervous and uneasy for days. i remember being alone in my room at night, and having that horrifying sensation that something was there, watching me.no other horror movie has fucked me up that way.i tried to show it to my gf, but i accidentally showed her the horrible director's cut or whatever the fuck where it's 10 hrs long and Pazuzu's head keeps randomly popping up like a pop-up ad. jesus fucking christ that cut is awful. it ruined my ability to be scared by the film
>>149239520The Decent gave me a decent scare
>>149239520This was awesome. Unfortunately the pyramid movie that came around the same time was like half as good, more suspense less action. I saw a movie jeruzalem that was shot but had a cute Jewish girl so I watched itMovies are only scary when your house is dark and your drunk.
>>149239520Salo or unironically Hostel.
Is The Empty Man really worth checking out?I don't know if I can trust this man.
>>149239520Depends what scares you.Ghosts? Probably Paranormal Activity or Blair Witch ProjectKillers? Maybe Wolf CreekMonsters? Maybe The Descent and SavagelandI think i'm in a minority that thinks found footage films are scarier than normal horror movies.
>>149239757no its fucking gay as fuck
>>149239951ones that go BOO out of no where and make me jump out of my seatthat's what scary isthe more the better

There's something about the atmosphere of the classics.>Alien>The Shining>The Exorcist>The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
>>149239669>Hostelbriefly saw a scene of this, involving some chick getting blowtorched in the eye, then rescued by some guy and I thought it was that "blind date" I'd been hearing so much of at the time
>>149239520I was pretty scared the first time I saw Code Unknown. theres more than a couple unsettling parts in it
>>149239631>>149240197>>149240262are you shitting me? I couldn't possibly feal scared during that film, when the horrible acting and script constantly reminded me none of it is real
>>149240244Tf how do you get scared by alien, shining or chainsaw massacre? They are great movies, some of my favourites, but not very scary
>>149239669The start of Hostel 3 scared the shit out of me then it turned out to be a bait.
>>149239631Watched this recently and didn't find it scary; it may be be because I was about 1.5 drinks in at the time.
>>149239951>Paranormal Activitytroll post.
>>149240726I find that being inebriated from alcohol at all reduces my enjoyment of kino. It might artificially increase my enjoyment at the time, but to actually really enjoy a movie I must be sober.
>>149240726The descent is overrated as hell. I thought it was shit when it came out. The only scare was the dream scene jumpscare where the women gets a surprise pole to the face.
I grew up playing paintball in the woods where Blair Witch Project was filmed, so THAT fucking film hit a little different.Overall, though, >>149239580 got it right. Something about that film set me on edge for a while.
>>149239520As terrifying as Ju-On
>>149240985>Blair Witch ProjectMy nigga. Unironically the scariest film I've ever seen
>>149240985I'm not a boomer, so Exorcist never hit the right way for me, but I would say Blair Witch Project is one of the scariest movies ever made.
>>149239520Movies aren't scary and never have been. You may not like it, but vidya is the territory of spooks and scares.>>149239542

>>149239520this one norwegian movie about trolls.
>>149239757It sucks and makes no sense, just tosses a bunch of /x/ memes at a wall and hopes some of them stick.
This is not the scariest but it's pretty good and very underrated.
>>149239951Blair Witch Project is the scariest film of all time. Still fucks me up to this day.
>>149240453I don't like tight spaces anon.
>>149241130The sequel was good too.
>>149239542This, except black “people”
>>149239520unironically The Blair Witch Project
That short Ju-on series that came out on Netflix was really good. Really fucking weird, spooky, and had a very somber and eerie atmosphere to it throughout. The Dark and the Wicked was pretty decent too. Someone recommended it in another thread and I enjoyed it. I typically don't like devil/possession type horror but it was pretty good. Haunting of Hill House was another ok series. The follow up series was so disappointing though.
>>149241656>The Dark and the Wicked was pretty decent too.This. The director also did The Strangers which was good.
>>149240453Seconding this, it was lacking
>>149241035fucking pussy BWP was trash and you're a retard
>>149240453I bet you're one of those fucking queers that thinks bullshit like lake mungo is horror

>>149242419>OH NO A MAN GOES INSANE WTF SO SCARYYes
Noroi the curse is the scariest film I've seen even though I know it's plebcore
>>149239951Savageland really is an incredible and vastly underrated gem. Also The Descent in theaters scared me so bad as a kid that I couldn’t sleep consistently for a week
>>149242517The Shining movie isn't scary unless you have psychosis. The Shining TV series was pants shitting scary though.
>>149242747Imagine being this wrong.
>>149239520Objectively, maybe The Blair Witch Project or The Exorcist.A really scary non-horror film that comes to mind is The Conversation. On a personal note, Dennis Hopper's character in Blue Velvet has always scared the shit outta me, so that's probably the scariest for myself.
for me, its The Thing, and not the remakesomething about monsters that can take any form absolutely scares the shit out of me
Blair Witch and The Exorcists really separate the hylics from the pneumatics. If you can't sense what is going on with those films you likely lack sentience.
>>149239951imagine putting paranormal activity on the same level as the blair witch project
My dad took me to see Dog Soliders when I was a kid. Told me it was just about dogs because he knew I didn't like scary stuff. Closed my eyes for about half the film, cried when I got home, had horrible nightmares for a good time after that. Haven't seen it since 2002. At first I hated that my dad did that, but over the years I've realized it was pretty funny because he was laughing his ass off the entire way home because I kept saying it wasn't about dogs. Anyways that's the scariest film of all time for me. Nothing has ever even come close to that. I am immune now
>>149243216>Nothing has ever even come close to that. I am immune now>I am immune nowSo you think
Horror /tv thread that isn't filled with negative people? Finally!Wish every thread was like this one!
>>149242419texas chainsaw has like barely any gore if any at all though
>>149241035I just wish it had rewatchability. It doesn’t compare to when I watched it for the first time all alone in a dark dorm room.
I just watched Lake Mungo two weekends ago because I’ve heard it always recommended in these threads. Great movie, but it just didn’t scare me like I was hoping.
>>149241003i remember renting this because the trailer made it look spooky asf. it was absolute trash! part of the blair witch rip offs of the time
>>149244470>Great movieshtu up you shill
>>149244577What’s the story here? If it was being shilled, then I got duped by it, as well. It seemed like an interesting movie about grief and clinging to a lost loved one told through the angle of a haunting. It was too artsy and not scary enough.
>>149244596what movie is this
>>149239542t. Jordan Peele
>>149244705taking of deborah logan, creepy, but not very scary or good
>>149241156Was this supposed to be horror? I found myself more intrigued than scared. Great movie, though.
>>149239520Glee: The 3D Concert Movie
>>149244596What’s this from?
>>149239631I remember an anon telling a story about his monitor dying when they went into the cave and thought it was really creative that the entire movie was black and didnt realize for a good 20 minutes. I hope hes doing well.
Why was this film so panned by the critics? It's not exactly a masterpiece but there's some solid story and generaly unsettling atmosphere. It certainly didn't deserve 26% on kosher tomatoes.
>>149241035Man I thought that movie was really boring and confusing. But to be fair I was watching it with a girl I liked and wasn't paying attention
The Grudge terrified the shit out of me. Signs for some reason had me pretty scared. Probably because I saw both when I was younger.
>>149239520Alright I'll do it. It's The Ring (2002) starring Naomi Watts. It's the answer you're looking for. It's the scariest movie.
>>149245044It's kino. If you dont like it ur a nigger
>>149239520The last one that did give me anxiety was Grave encounters. The sequel wasn't that bad either. The story kind of sells. >>149241130Another decent one was Quarantine. Wouldn't be surprised if these things occur that make covid look like a flu(which it is), and the press can't talk about it. >>149239631Forgot what happened.>>149239669Also this. Best suspense movies ever, mainly because you know deep down those places exist.>>149241161interesting

>>149245348it sucks that the catacombs cannot be fully explored in real life and it also sucks they dont make more movies surrounding the lore of the catacombs so much history and the eerieness of it could make for decent horror films
>>149241003watching this now, I'm liking it.
>>149239757the first half is goodthe 2nd is okay to meh with good momentsthe ending is badoverall on an uninflated horror movie scale of 1-10, it is this anon's opinion to give it a 4.7. 7 if just the first half
>>149240985>>149241035if you haven't, watch Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum >koreanyeah but I consider it somewhat of a spiritual successor to blair witch project and grave encounters
Not really scary but pretty great unsettling atmosphere and Riley Keough is just great to watch
Mike Flanagan stuff gives me proper creeps.
>>149245348>mystery knights templar alchemist archeologist kinoanymore films like this?Doesn't have to be horror
>>149239520Watched The Shining while babysitting a completely shut down power plant alone on a snowy night. It scared the shit out of me.Watching Jaws and then swimming in the ocean the next day got to me a little too. But it wasn’t as bad.
Mama pretty consistently scares me, even on repeated viewings. The fact that the ghost is almost entirely a practical performance really sells the effect.
Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me
>>149247071>Watched The Shining while babysitting a completely shut down power plant alone on a snowy night. It scared the shit out of me.where can I get a gig like that. I'm a security gaurd (overnight) at a tv station and just watch movies all night
Ya'll need to start living deliciously.
>>149239631That scene when they crawl through that tight tunnel was scarier that all the cavemen stuff combined
>>14924695420mins of this felt like 2 hours, its so slow and boring
>>149247222I’m a power plant operator. We were shut down for 3 months because of fighting over a new contract, not like a normal maintenance outage.Plants will hire utility operators without plant experience and then train you and move you up. But you’d have an even better shot if you get an associates degree in power plant technology and/or get a boiler operator license for your state which is pretty easy with a little studying. Nuclear plants have more security guard type positions which are a good foot in the door for higher paying jobs. Military experience helps for those, but it’s worth applying regardless if you’re interested. These are usually posted on major job hunting sites. Just search “power plant”.
>>149247068Not that I know of. But if you liked the esoteric aspects of the movie, A Dark Song might be of interest to you. It's more about magic than alchemy, but the similar idea of trials and journey are present. It's a forgotten gem even though it's pretty recent. Also, The Ninth Gate but you probably know that.
>>149247475>The Ninth GateIronically I was already familiar with a Dark Song, the Angel scene was actually kino, I loved the way it spokety anon, I'm downloading it now
>>149239520Definitely not that one. Didn't think it was terrible as far as found footage goes though.

>>149240770>the last shotnot a bad movie at all
>>149247177I don't know about that one, but the last episode of season 2 legitimately spooked me. The whole red room scene, when he finds the doppelgangers and Laura starts screaming, despite the weird calm background music really scared me
>>149239951Just watched savageland on youtube. Not great but not terrible. Needed to actually see some of the monsters though.

>>149249632Yeah usually but not on 4chan tho.
>>149242936Agreed. The film is so good at building up tension and then suddenly exploding into utter chaos. The scene where they're testing the blood whilst tied to the couch scares the shit out of me every time.

>>149239520Eraserhead & Inland Empire
Depends entirely what you want in terms of 'scary', if it's suspenseful shit that makes your skin crawl its probably blair witch or something of that ilk that has the characters constantly having something breathe down their neck and freak them out without blatantly chasing them like a slasher flick. Regardless Texas chainsaw og works anyway b/c it's so well done, def up there as well. But if you want existential dread or something that tries less to be exciting and more leave a real imprint on your person literally nothing comes close to threads. Not to sound like a fag but the final scene with the stillbirth and the girl reacting to it is VERY kino, and an extremely powerful image to show not just "what happens after the nukes" but a universal human gut instinct "No, how could this even happen" response. It's very powerful stuff if you let what the creators made get through to you on a gut level and not just randomly see a girl screaming at a cloth. Very ahead of it's time
