I was wondering if anyone here has had recent experience getting multiple 90 day Vietnamese visas in a year. Is flying to somewhere like Chiang Mai and back better than a bus to Laos? How much time should I spend out of the country?

>>2580534The 90 day tourist visa they just started doing again allows for multiple entries, much like your mom does, so if your wanted to go to Thailand for a few days and come back, you'd still have until the end of your first visa. Until very recently the tourist visas were just 30 days and single entry so it's a great change.

The expanded time frame of 90 days may have been accompanied by a crackdown on foreign residency in Vietnam via unlimited tourist visa renewals. You might have your little border-hopping scheme all worked out, but the Viets could easily say "no" to giving you another 90 days in the country, and then what?

Kind of the easiest place in the world to find cheap alternatives if plans get screwed up. Anyway the plan is just 2 visas per year as I'm spending 6mo in India

I'm not saying they wouldn't, I'm just asking why they would, because I don't know.
