ーJR Passー
JR Rail Pass is it worth it? Since JR is going to adjust the prices for the pass soon, not really anymore, unless you want to travel by train very extensively. You can plug in your itinerary in the links below and compare prices to the JR Pass.

So if I have a Kansai-Hiroshima Area Pass and want to take a Shinkansen from Hiroshima to Tokyo, does it work out to buy a ticket from Shin-Osaka to Tokyo at Hiroshima, enter at Hiroshima with the pass and exit at Tokyo with the ticket? Or will this lead to problems if the ticket never went through a gate before? Or should I put both into the gate at Hiroshima?
>>
>>2579560
good morning I love Seventeen Ice

Just use the manned gate, bonus points if you're visibly foreign.

Another shitty rainy day. And where the fuck are the morning variety idols/AKB/whatever shows. They only air stupid shit about fucking food. From morning to evening. Food 24/7.

I'll be in Japan around March 18th thru April 18th, flying in to Fukuoka and out from Tokyo. Can anyone recommend a good itinerary and specific places to see/things to do? I know I want to go to Nagashi Spa Land and Fugi Q Highland to ride the rollercoasters. I'll be bringing a bike so I don't mind places that are inconvenient to get to on foot. I know some Japanese and I've been to Japan once before. I've seen multiple castles so the only one I really want to see is Himeji, tho I don't mind seeing other ones. I do want to walk through some of the shrines at night, visit Okunoin Cemetary and spend a day on one of the deserted islands. Any recommendations? I'm also looking to explore some of the underground shopping districts and maybe visit some seedier, cyberpunk-ish areas if those still exist.

So far one anon suggested the Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum. I'll also visit the SCMaglev Museum in Nagoya and the Kyoto Railway Museum.

If any anons will be in Japan that time and wanna meet up let me know, I can post an email address for us to arrange it.

This is going to be my last Saturday here bros. I haven't really experienced the clubs yet. Is it worth checking out even though my introverted ass probably won't interact with other club goers?
>>
>>2579626
Just be tall and chad like everywhere else in the world. Losers back home need not apply

I went to a club in Shibuya and it was pretty shitty until I got wasted then it became okay.
>women get in cheaper than the men

Would not do again, go to any dive bar and you will have a better experience. Nightclubs are all sausagefests.

kinda wanna go cooming but none of my usual places really have any super interesting girls today. i couldn't go last month because of work and travel so i kinda wanna go. the one girl who overslept my appointment last time i went to see her is back in town, but that shop recently hiked its prices for foreigners and i'm not sure if my man at the front desk remembers what he told me about letting me get the japanese price next time.

plus it's cold and windy and it might rain.

wat do, frens? coom or stay in and catch up on video games?
>>
>>2579652
on second thought i think i'm gonna stay in. it's just not worth it to me if i'm not into the girl. hopefully next weekend there'll be some interesting new girls, I might even do a 3P to make up for not going today

thanks for reading my inner monologue

I just walk into random clubs and always had the time of my life. Follow these steps
>get drunk (important for autists)
>search 'clubs' in Google maps, or just go stand in a random line
>walk in and jump around like a retard to the music
>the nips will all join you
>go home lonely cause you didn't pick up a chick because even a drunk autist is still an autist, but at least you had fun
>>
Just got home after my first visit. It's so damn easy and convenient and great to just exist there, I didn't expect it to be that good. Not a fan of clubbing or nightlife stuff so I didn't have anything too exciting in mind, but just being a person in Tokyo who doesn't have to go to work every day is the closest thing to heaven. On days where I didn't feel like going to some big attraction or landmark it just went like this
>Chilling in Shinjuku Gyoen watching the trees and surrounded by happy people doing cliche happy things
>Watching Godzilla in Toho Shinjuku. Fantastic film even though I can't understand half the dialogue. People are so quiet and tidy in cinemas.
>Shopping for stuff I wouldn't find in a million years in the west, just going through each city hotspot and searching through their obscure stores
>Pick a random restaurant and know almost certainly the food is going to be great on top of being cheap as hell
>Walk around at night doing more shopping while stopping somewhere for dessert
>Try random shit in arcades
>Go back to hotel late and channel hop through bizzarre TV programmes while messing with stuff I bought and enjoying convenience store snacks
I could honestly do that every day until I eventually run out of money then die happy
>>
>>2579745
ok but how do you fix that last part
>>
>>2579753
Gotta grind the social skills, just keep going out and talking to people
>>
How do you meet people here besides going to bars?
>>
>back in the west
>realise I have to use paper straws in restaurants/fast food places again
god damn it they really do succeed everywhere we go wrong

are you interested going south? eg. to nagasaki and further? there is one cool volcanic peninsula further down, quite nice for cycling.
japan isn't as cyberpunk for me as eg. china so idk what to recommend there, but if anything, osaka a few blocks west of tennoji has some cool cheap ass seedy karaoke pubs with businessmen and lots of neon. with matching cheap business hotels with cyberpunkish views.

fukuoka has a street festival during golden week, and the street stalls are in full force then, but i think if you don't want to get stuck in the area you're just gonna miss that. lots of ferries to random islands there... idk about deserted, but lots of less popular islands for sure.
if you're looking for museums, the depressing obvious one is the nagasaki atomic bomb one. not so obvious are all the ceramic workshops in arita (halfway between fukuoka and nagasaki).
>>
>>2579748
>I could honestly do that every day until I eventually run out of money then die happy
This was unironically my plan; not catch the return plane home, overstay my visa, fuck around doing whatever I want for god knows how long until I run out of money then I'll kill myself in a forest somewhere. "Was" being the key word here, I have commitments back home now so can't die just yet.

Anon doing his first real vacations. It's cute. Protip: it'll be the same in pretty much any other country. You'll understand once you've traveled enough. The real problem is having to work to earn our measly wage. That's the problem.

The thing is I already live a rather easy-going, cushy existence where my life is not hard and my job rewards me well enough that I can live however I want. I've been on some trips to a few typical holiday destinations and I didn't enjoy things like chilling in the beach or staying in a giant hotel. But getting to do pretty much the same things I do in my normal life, just in Japan instead, for a couple of weeks was like seeing a glimpse into the best possible life for me. The country that probably has the best quality of life and things to experience as an ordinary person, compounded by being cheap and easy to be in, then being a tourist takes away the one major disadvantage which is having to work all the time.
>>
I've seen two white males with actually desirable 8/10 and above j girls the whole time I've been here. I've seen a lot of other couples but most have been defective

I wandered into a random sake festival thing by a station near me. I bumped into an English teacher with group of Japanese college students that invited me to sit with them. Made friends with them and they took me out to bars, restaurants, and bouldering over a few weeks. They also met a coffee shot daily so maybe wander into coffee shops and look for groups studying English.

What are your hobbies? For example, if you like TRPGs, wouldn't it make sense for you to hang out at a local TRPG cafe or shop? Another example, would be if you like sports and hang out at the local basketball court or soccer field long enough to befriend the locals.

I'm genuinely scared to leave my hotel room now. Last night me and my travel buddy were strolling around Kabukicho taking photos of the lights. My friend is a lot more extroverted than me and he started talking to some drunk salarymen and I just kept walking taking. Out of nowhere I heard a man scream so I peeked over. I witnessed a gaijin get beaten the holy hell out of by some yakuza looking men. I thought this was a meme but it's fucking not. Guy was left left bleeding and they snapped his spine. I called an ambulance and they took it, cops from koban came but they didn't seem to care, they did ask for my passport just because I was there and a gaijin. Honestly I though Japan is safe from what I've read before. How do I avoid shit like this? I still have over a week till my return flights.

I've had it with america. REALLY.
I lived in Japan as a govt worker for a few years, had a jap gf all that, came back to the US during covid for family reasons and I just want to KILL, so I need to LEAVE.
I have a undergad degree, i networked a lot when I was there so I may have a slightly better chance at landing a start up job... but my Japanese has been unpracticed.

I want to just one-way to Fukuoka or Hiroshima
early spring and see what happens. I've just about had it with life here. Compared to Japan I'm in hell. I've got money saved up. My plans are many, one path can be visit my network there, another can be get a gf, maybe slip into english teaching for a short while if I absolutely have to. I've heard of guys getting jobs as cooks at izakayas, so I'd try my best to get social if anything. Just gonna pack light and go to a hostel and if I fail so fucking what I'll go back. Maybe I'll be less pissed. I know Tokyo has more but I am too accustomed to the smaller cities and countryside.

Having a chat with the bar master in a relaxing vibe and getting recommendations sounds more laid back at least in the smaller cities much cheaper as well. In some places you can play darts.
for bars I'll mostly stick to whiskey/gin/sake bars and izekayas, I like the vibes they've got with the wood and dim lighting.

Chatting with young girls in girl bars would be more tense especially in their native language, the cost isn't as big a deal.
Might try only one girls bar and maid cafe for the novelty but with these sorts of places anything related to women really you are more prone to getting scammed.

My point is that racking up a huge bill because you didn't pay attention to the clock shouldn't even be a possibility, if they are going to charge you more than ¥1000 or so per hour that's your first warning sign to gtfo and find somewhere else. The exception are reputable places that will let you know when your hour is up because they are reputable, everywhere I have gone the staff have even keeps the tab on the table so clients can see what their current total is.

I am going to try taqbin or whatever it was called, you can forward luggage and set the delivery time up to seven days or so in the future since I will be hopping around hotels from Nagasaki until I hit Osaka/Tokyo might as well use it the day I land to forward straight to Osaka so I don't have to bother dealing with it.

Problem is I won't have a proper change of clothes beyond underwear until then unless I rock up to the washing machines in my PJs. 4 days shouldn't be bad.

Do Japanese people turn their brain off when a gaijin is trying to speak to them in Japanese? Many foreign speakers of the Japanese language who resides outside Japan, often forget to use interjections when talking to native Japanese speakers, which may result in misunderstandings or discourage the locals from further conversing with you.

>In the Japanese language, aizuchi (Japanese: 相槌 or あいづち) are interjections during a conversation that indicate the listener is paying attention or understands the speaker (backchanneling). In linguistic terms, these are a form of phatic expression. Aizuchi are considered reassuring to the speaker, indicating that the listener is active and involved in the discussion.

Is this just some cultural thing? Are they just rehashing an English lesson from grade school?
Japanese just seem to have the least awareness of life outside Japan despite being a country that produces a lot of cultural exports and also being interested in western culture and cuisine themselves. Yeah this is mostly a reaction from older people but I've not had this same conversation repeatedly anywhere else like I have in Japan.

Bros I’m fucking retarded. How do I know if I’m boarding a limited express train or semi limited or regular train in Kyoto/osaka? Google maps just tells me to take a limited express. Last time I went to Nara, I tried to use the ticket machine but it didn’t let me buy a ticket, so I got one one of the regular trains which appeared to be slower and kept stopping. I tried waiting at the station next time but every time a train stopped it was one of the ones with reserved seats that required a ticket, so I got on the slower train again
>>
>>2580474
The side of the train will have an LED sign on it saying where it's going, and if it's an express or limited express train it will have a special color LED sign denoting it. In Tokyo express trains have a red LED sign and limited express/commuter express trains will have a blue or green LED sign. It will also say what kind of train is coming on the platform sign.

If all this is too difficult you could always ask the train staff.

If your budget for a bespoke suit is unlimited, I recommend Tailor Caid located in Shibuya, which specializes in Japanese Ivy League style clothing, especially sack suits made with tweed imported from Britain. Yuhei Yamamoto, the owner of Tailor Caid, even travels to New York to do trunk shows every year.

>Ivy League is a style of men's dress, popular during the late 1950s in the Northeastern United States, and said to have originated on college campuses, particularly those of the Ivy League. It was the predecessor to the preppy style of dress. Although it may be perceived as formal or dressy today, in its heyday Ivy League was actually a casual approach to more traditional ("Trad") styles. The sack suit (and sack sport coat) were less structured, with natural shoulders and a roomier fit, and therefore appeared more relaxed. Additionally, Ivy Style was largely characterized by casual style affectations. For example, Ivy leaguers would frequently wear button-down collar oxford cloth shirts (which were originally developed as sportswear for polo and tennis players) with suits and sport coats, rather than more formal dress shirts with starched collars and double cuffs. Likewise, they would wear penny loafers or brogues rather than oxford shoes.

Best food to try in Japan besides Sushi and Pizza?
Best time length to visit Japan?
Best region to visit Japan?
Best tour group to see Japan with?
Best fruit to try exclusive to Japan?
Best activity to do in Tokyo (like ride Mario carts)?
Compared to China, is Japan better for tourism?
How safe is Japan?
Must we speak Japanese?
Capsule hotels or normal hotels?
Are Japanese massages legit?
Rent a car or take the train, which is better in Japan?
How bad is discrimination against people with brown/black skins? (that would be us)

>Must we speak Japanese?
No but there will be times where you won't understand what they're telling you, and even if you study for one year you still won't understand it.
>Rent a car or take the train, which is better in Japan?
Everything is accessible by train, but you will have to walk a lot. No idea if parking spots are easy to find as I never had to look for one, also even in japan traffic can get bad at times. If you travel at 8AM or 5PM trains will be packed. Not all hotels have parking spots.
>How bad is discrimination against people with brown/black skins? (that would be us)
There will probably be times where you get stared at, but if you travel around tourist spots you shouldn't ever have any trouble

Hey all. Going to Japan with a friend and we plan on staying around end of Jan. to beginning of Feb.

people were wearing masks before covid, it's a fashion thing and some people also wear it when they have a cold/allergies.
I don't think it's mandated anywhere if that's what you're asking. the only covid vestiges I see are that some restaurants still have the dividers
>>
>>2581224
on an average day out i'd say like 75% of the people i see are still wearing masks, but i don't live in a big city like tokyo or osaka so people here might have a more conservative mentality and are therefore slower to change with the times

like that other Anon said, masks are basically a fashion statement here these days; in fact i'm willing to bet most people who wear them aren't doing so because of the coof or because they're sick, they just do so out of a desire for privacy or because they're on company time and it's the company's policy that their employees wear masks - you'll notice that nearly every convenience store employee, hotel staff member, delivery driver, basically any lower level client-facing position, etc is still masked up

the rest of them are wearing masks for aesthetic reasons. asian people, especially japanese, tend to have really attractive eye areas but often seriously falter the midface and lower third; masks take care of that problem. there's even a term for these people - マスク美人 - who look extremely attractive with their masks on but as soon as they take them off it's a straight horrorshow

and yes, as someone who lives in japan, there's nothing more frustrating than when you first meet a girl and she looks like a solid 9 with her mask on, only for you to eventually see her without it and she drops to a 5 or 6
>>
>>2581275

Tell us about your experiences with crooked teeth. Is that still a trend in Japan?
>>
>>2581282
i don’t think it was ever a “trend,” just something that’s culturally seen as looking cute/youthful, specifically for women

Seems to be on its way out, though. people maybe 23 and up still seem to often have crooked/snaggle teeth but a lot of my coworkers who have kids of their own often bitch about how much they’re spending on braces/invisalign, so in maybe one or two more generations braces might become common practice like in america

Go contact Lee Xian Jie and see if he is willing to hire you as a volunteer to work part time at his Ryunohara Farm located in Tanabe, Wakayama

>Want to experience life in rural Japan? Ryunohara is located deep in the mountains of Wakayama, home to the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage paths. We plant rice with no pesticides and no fertilizers, make tea from century-old tea bushes, and provide a good life to goats and chickens. Volunteers will weed, feed, plant, harvest, move things, scrub, build, and repair. It is very physically demanding work.

>In return volunteers get free accommodation (electricity, water, internet provided), and free rice. We share the cost of lunchtime groceries, and take turns to make dinner. Breakfast is not communal. Bicycles, and a small 2-seater truck are available to get you between Ryunohara and the volunteer house (15-minute cycle, steep uphill, or 5 minute drive). We also make occasional trips to nearby waterfalls, swim in the river in front of Ryunohara, and soak in the onsen. You will learn about community relations, traditions, and customs of rural Japan, what farming without chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides entails, live in and work on traditional Japanese architecture, and enjoy the company of curious goats and chickens.

>Volunteers must be able to stay at least 3 weeks, and a maximum of 4 weeks to be considered. All volunteers must show proof that they have purchased travel insurance (in case of accidents).

I love traveling to Japan but I could never live here
It's too crowded everywhere literally every part of the year, and the "outdoors" scene isn't nearly as fun as US ir even the UK.

Also, people just seem autistic as fuck here. I love chattering up whomever wherever but most Japanese refuse to say anything other than canned responses.
Sort of reminds of the UK in a way, where people just don't talk unless they're drinking.
Kyoto was a bit nicer in that regard though, but maybe it was because I was chatting up oldies and retirees

I speak only the most basic phrases to get by and every evening find great conversation in restaurants, bars, etc. with locals looking to show me about
last night in Osaka I'd been in a place 5 mins before I was invited out on one of the nicest nights of my trip with 2 nurses who were able to converse quite deeply in English
have only been here on 6 trips at a week maximum so may differ for others

I think the reservedness/coldness is most evident in Tokyo. but even Kansai is not great, you must be very extroverted or friendly or something to have those kind of experiences so often
what kind of places do you meet people in?
>>
>>2581434
to be honest I haven't noticed a difference across the cities I have visited
I'm not really sure if I'm extroverted but certainly friendly and confident
my best tip is find yourself in an area, look on google maps for whatever you're looking for (i.e. cocktails, beer, music, ramen) and pick a place based on the pictures - helps i have a good sense of what is 'cool' and will have plenty of young people having fun. Years of traveling for work has taught me that reviews mean shit and you can always leave a place immediately after walking in and feeling the atmosphere.

Could anyone please give me a rough estimate for how much I should budget for a 2-3 week trip for 2 people (me and fiancee), sometime between September-December 2024? Maybe even Christmas and NYE. Don't need flights included as I have a companion voucher with BA and around 300k air miles, or 500k airmiles with FlyingBlue.

Mostly interested in history; Kyoto, Osaka mainly and visit some castles. Eat a lot of good food, visit hot springs and private baths, visit the countryside and maybe a day or two in Tokyo.

I don't want to spend a tonne of money, but I also don't want to be staying at hostel tier places. Would probably need 2 rooms as well as I snore pretty badly and we don't sleep in the same bed.

Would £10,000 be enough? For travel in Japan, food, hotels and a few souvenirs? I'd like to stay as long as possible so 3 weeks if I can.

Had an absolutely packed itinerary the first two weeks and now with two days left I can't find the drive to keep going. Blistered feet, packed luggage of souvenirs and its only ikebukuro roppongi/ginza are last two spots anyway. How do I not feel guilty just playing darts and lounging around local spots with the wifey to close it out I can't help but feel I'm missing out on other sights and spots

perhaps just accept that in two weeks (heck even 2 decades) in one country there will always be things you are missing
it’s supposed to be a holiday and you can always come back
I find the bits I remember most from my trips are the parts where I was relaxed, doing nothing and meeting new people, the sights rarely stick
been sat here for ages and feel no remorse on such a sunny day

Go take your wife to see Japan's tallest building, Azabudai Hills, right now before you two go back home or you guys will absolutely regret it because the building just opened today and in 2024, it will permanently host a TeamLab exhibit and the obligatory TeamLab crowd, so you will never again witness a less crowded building this week. Make sure to bring a camera for photographs and some money for exclusive food and souvenirs! Also, leave some rooms in your stomachs for free food samples!

Azabudai Hills's groundbreaking ceremony just finished one hour ago so of course there is a crowd, but it has yet to be TeamLab level of crowded. Also, Thanksgiving is not a national holiday in Japan so majority of people in Japan are still at work and do not have time to visit Azabudai Hills until work is over or this weekend.

Based, it's basically anti-tourism that interests me when I visit places. I plan to go back to Japan for 6 weeks and using a 14 day JR pass to hop on the bullet train and go all over the place. I just want to stay 1-2 nights in random places and walk around and visit little shops, take in the nature and slow life. I also want to get in better shape because despite thinking I'm average looking, I slept with some random 7/10 Japanese girl and had some of the best, most intense sex of my life for a night.

Expat here (going on two years) with a professional job.

Has anyone else noticed the uptick of white female divorcees here? Usually with a hapa kid or two in tow. I used to think White/Asian relationships were difficult but god, when you actually speak to these women they came here for anime and other dumb shit and married/had kids with a local purely for this sort of juvenile cultural fascination. Now they're working bum fuck jobs here in their 30s to pay for their children with absolutely no exit strategy.

What on earth did they expect would happen? Why were they surprised their husbands fucked prostitutes? Why were they surprised the marriage became sexless and passionless? Even I knew this stuff which is why I've avoided relationships with locals since I came here.

Just blows my mind people can come to Japan with an attitude of "oh they're just like us with different food and funny clothes". Especially in regards to relationships.

Lots of things to love about Japan but how they view love, sex and marriage aren't any of them.

If you guys want to buy in bulk, brand new Japanese clothes that follow the latest fashion trends in Japan, go shop at Avail and Fashion Center Shimamura. Uniqlo is actually too expensive a place for Japanese housewives to buy clothes for their entire family so they prefer shopping for clothes in bulk at places like Shimamura.

I do not know if this is a bad or good thing but most tourists believe Japanese people only shop at globally recognized Japanese companies like Uniqlo when in reality, most Japanese people shop more at Japanese companies that mainly cater to the domestic market and whom are unlikely to ever add any English language to their company websites. Unless you become a resident of Japan, most tourists will never know a company like Shimamura exists because their website is only in Japanese, their commercials are only in Japanese, and their advertisements only feature Japanese people and no foreigners yet Shimamura often offers better deals on clothes than the more famous Uniqlo.

Japanese people often complain about Chinese resellers, especially those who resell Chiikawa goods, so foreign popularity can have its downsides.

i'm pretty sure sex education just doesn't exist in japan.

cooming aside even the regular girls that i've ended up in hotels/back home with from bars, clubs, etc were perfectly willing to let me stick it in raw, the most precaution i've ever gotten was one girl asking me to promise i'd pull out before cumming kek

that said i'm fairly used to getting pussy back home in america so just as a habit i always carry a condom with me any time i go out for the night. any girl that's willing to fuck a stranger - foreigner or not - within 2-3 hours of first meeting isn't a girl you want to be putting your unprotected penis inside of, anons

Low 20s, I really dont put much stock in the ages listed but it seemed accurate enough. 25 tops. Just to be clear, you dont want it raw? I guess I had the chance to stop her but I wasnt going to. It was worth it, especially for the creampie experience.
>>
>>2582302
Just wanted to confirm with whatever age they’re mentioning on the site.
I get the impression the ages are somewhat accurate on the site based on the few other girls I’ve had there.
Last year I had a girl proposition me to have sex for 20k more so it doesn’t completely surprise me to hear someone would end up going raw.
Still, if you think about possible STD’s, it would be a turnoff for me and I’d rather avoid the girls I know who do it on a whim.
>>
>>2582302
>>2582308
To be fair, I’m not sure if I’d be able to stop a girl if she’s about to put it in raw.

I saw 2 girls from the shop. I'd say both were almost certainly in their early 20s. Not judging just from looks but personality and style. The first girl, the one weve been talking about i absolutely adored, and If I had to guess I'd say she was 24 and I think the site has her listed as 21 or 22. The second girl was immature and bubbly so I'd say she was probably 19 to 22 based off of that but who knows. She wasnt really my type and I only chose her because my first choice wasnt working that night and didnt message me back until after I had booked which we were both unhappy about. Second girl did offer FS but said it would be extra. I declined. She did make an effort to make me cum twice with a 60 min appt and a cheap love hotel so I appreciated that.

Neither girl was significantly older than their listed age and both, to me, fit the bill as a college aged Japanese girl. They both were really chill and went above and beyond with me. 1st girl was just way more my type and we had a fucking blast the entire time, so i think thats how the sex happened. Thats probably naive on my part but I certainly wouldnt expect that any of these girls will offer or just give it up.
>>
>>2582248
Glad you had some fun while there.
I'm surprised it's really that dead. Some of the recent videos stillI had some girls around; I always see E-chan. I'm not sure when I'll be visiting Tokyo yet, and that sort of makes me less motivated to go.

I'm so tired I can barely move right now, though. I probably should have just gone to the hotel to rest right away but couldn't help myself.
>>
>>2582320
I understand that, I found it impossible to sit in the hotel room for longer that 20 mins. Part of my problem might have been that I didnt go out till 10 pm each time. Theres almost no gajins there, old shops that sell food/suvenirs, mostly run by grannies/grandads, it has a feel of deserted resort. You can spot eagles, crabs and theres an insect museum and temple up the path.
It shouldnt take you more like 4h total to do so you can be bavk in osaka and explorr more stuff.

have any firms actually moved their HQs into these new Mori developments?
I can't imagine Tokyo is doing very much to actually be the APAC HQ for global firms. Most banks still require native-level Japanese if you want to work in their office unless you're transferring to a senior management role. The same isn't the case for Australia, HK or Singapore. Young professionals have no reason to look to Tokyo as a place to build careers aside from gigacoomers and weebs.

Maybe you should get in contact with this German citizen named Alex who obtained a working holiday visa to Japan and now works as a hired extra on Japanese rap music videos. This proves that you do not have to limit yourself to English teaching jobs while on a working holiday in Japan. Instead, you can get paid to hang out with Japanese rappers. For example, you can see Alex appear as an extra in this Japanese rapper named Sho's music videos.

Take full advantage of your working holiday visa while you still can because I feel like you still do not realize that your visa lets you get any job in Japan except for working at bars, cabarets, nightclubs, gambling establishments and other premises affecting public morals in Japan.

BIC CAMERA sells cheap SIM cards with monthly plans called BIC SIM. that you can activate online and also cancel anytime. Another alternative would be buying either a SIM card or an eSim from Mobal because they offer real Japanese phone numbers with their products!

>Question: I currently have a tourist SIM from Mobal and although I've received a call on it from a Japanese business, I haven't been able to use it for reservations on Japanese websites (only tried two though). It errors out telling me I don't have a valid number. I contacted Mobal support and am waiting for a response.

>Answer: I heard back from Mobal support - looks like it's because I was using the number that they sent me in the confirmation email, which was an international number (starting with +81). I just needed to switch out the +81 with a 0 for any calls from Japan.

To tell the truth I had wanted to try somewhere else because of my pride and my annoying urge to go off the beaten path for the challenge and to find something unique. My situation didnt afford me much free time and THC was just too convenient. I was also already interested in the girl I booked so it just made sense.

I do agree somewhat with your second comment. If I were a solo traveller, I'm certain I could of picked up girls for some casual sex. There were 2 I met at seperate times where the flirting moved to hugs and hand holding and several other girls that atleast were interested in talking beyond introductions. My japanese is ok, enough to make jokes and chat about life and hobbies and I'd rate myself about as average as they come in looks. The thing is I got more attention over there than I do at home despite feeling less attractive compared to your typical japanese guy. I just think being white and speaking japanese makes for an interesting ice breaker, and being funny and friendly helps everywhere in the world.

Visiting for the first time in December. Visiting Tokyo and Osaka but need a third city. My dilemma is that I'm interested in Sapporo which is a bit difficult to get to and would likely require packing a separate wardrobe for the colder weather. Would it be worth visiting another city like Yokohama or some other city in the south? Also have been considering spending a few days in Seoul, South Korea since I am basically already there and the flight is not terribly expensive.

Regarding clothing, it looks like Tokyo and Osaka are fairly mild in December with temperatures around 10C in the day and 4C at night typically. Is this true based on anyone else's experience? I potentially need to purchase a rain shell jacket and maybe a mid-layer. Thanks.

some part of me will always have the anxiety sure, however a significant amount of the stress comes from the fact that it costs me so much to come over and so I don't want to have a subpar time. I have the same issue picking restaurants but at least when it comes to food your body will force you to eat something eventually. Same aint true of tobita, if you're not careful the only dozo you'll get is on monster alley
>>
>>2582771
Without speaking Japanese, or paying for it? I cant imagine it would be that easy. You will have to find someone confident enough in english, have chemistry, and hope shes the type ready to fuck upon meeting or both have the time to foster a fling for a week or two.

That said, if you really want this to work go to a big club event, concert, or festival where people are drinking, partying, and more likely looking to hookup and shoot your shot.
>>
>>2582798
Does the anxiety prevent sexual performance or satisfaction or are you saying you cant even handle the initiation of any form of intimacy?

>>2582805
I'm sure you could just wear a tanktop underneath your shirt yeah? I suppose it would be an issue for showers though, but at tobita it wouldn't be an issue
>>
>>2582803
Ok yeah I can relate and could see how that create an issue. I hope you can find a way to relax about the choices. Time was my main limit and I was able to put a correct perspective on how i should most healthily prioritize sex on my trip so it didnt make or break it for me.
>>
>>2582805
Id be worried that they would be worried it was contagious or sign of poor hygiene and std.

>>2582806 my honest opinion is that if you have the time and leisure to focus on hooking up with girls theres a good chance you'll make it happen atleast a couple times. The biggest barrier with the langauge issue is just that the typical art of communicating to girls that you arent a violent threat must be done with body langauge and kind gestures. The benefit is when you do find a girl that wants to bang a foreigner you dont have to try to hard to be interesting, because your "exotic nationality" has that covered. So just smell good and dress your best and you got this anon.

For what its worth, im under the impression that sex workers deal with alot of unpleasant customers and an issue thats a big deal to you is probably hardly noticeable to them. Kindness goes a long way and they have most likely seen and smelt much worse so if your groomed and bathed I doubt a few spots are going to bother them at all. If you arent trying to hatefuck them and make them purposefully taste your unwashed dick they will probably consider a great customer.

You nailed it. Being a decently attractive Japanese speaking foreigner only visiting for ~month checks off a lot of boxes. Even if I went to Japan and didn't get laid, I would still enjoy the fuck out of it because I respect the way they run their society. It feels very OCD and scratches that part of my brain. I still have fond memories of my last trip and it was just me walking around Tokyo late at night. Japan is fucking incredible.

Atm japan is strange when it comes to weather. 2 days ago it was 20 degree, yesterday it was 12, today its 10, I think 4-8 degrees for december (you know, temperature is closer to the nighttime temp half of the day) would be safer bet, its still ok, but it can get windy which will feel like its way colder than it really is.

You can go to doctor but you will pay a lot because you are not into Japanese insurance system

Look for an English speaking clinic

Some hospitals will charge you extra or not accept you if you go straight at the acceptance desk because you need a formal introduction from a smaller clinic

I wouldnt worry about cringe. Its still ultimately transactional but I love being kind. I brought a gift and was really nice to her and it put her at ease and pretty quickly it felt pretty natural and like we were friends. It felt as if she wanted me to be happy not just satisfied. When she got down to her underwear and sat in my lap I was obviously in bliss and I could tell that made her beam. We did talk for a while and I asked why she works at a shop that only sees foreigners and she did say because they are nicer and more fun most of the time, so this was something she valued. You are seeing a prostitute so the benefit of that is you can be yourself without worrying about what is cringe or cool. I enjoy being nice and making people happy, both personally and sexually. If thats not you, dont put on an act but I still would make an effort to put the girl at ease somehow. All that said, yes the small gift went a long way. She probably would have been warm and welcoming without it but im not sure if fucked me without the upcharge like she did, and I am pretty sure she wouldnt have added me on ig and messaged me all week asking me to come back. So it was worth it.

cans, plastics, metals, and glass are all separate categories. burnable garbage is your general purpose stuff (food waste etc) but a separate category from cardboard which only gets picked up once a month. PET bottles are their own thing altogether, you have to peel off the wrapper and the cap, those can go in burnables, but the bottle itself gets its own special bag. oh and you gotta make sure it's all labeled

batteries are the biggest bitch of all, though. where I live they only pick them up on 4 days A YEAR.

dunno how to tell you this but it's not 1998 anymore, you're not so cool and unique that japanese people will come and try to be friends with you just because you're foreign. least of all in fucking tokyo where you can't even throw a stick without hitting 4 different varieties of stinky gaijin.

try an aiseki if you've got the balls for it and you don't mind the near certain likelihood that you're going to be paying some random girl's drinks and meal, and all you'll get in return is some superfluous conversation that ultimately leads nowhere. or search specifically for singles bars but be warned it's going to be jam-packed with other people just like you and there will definitely be a cover charge and/or drink minimum and/or time limit.

the best advice i can give you is the same i'm sure you've heard everywhere else, avoid any place with a black nigerian tout standing at the door and waving you in.

One of the most popular and oldest domestic underwear manufacturers in Japan is Gunze. Gunze's men's underwear brands include BODY WILD, Kaiteki Kobo (Comfort Workshop), SEEK, the GUNZE, and YG. When reading up on Japanese men's fashion, you will often hear people discuss the 100% cotton Kaiteki Kobo (Comfort Workshop) underwear and BODY WILD boxers they bought from Gunze.

>Gunze Limited (グンゼ株式会社) is a Japanese clothing brand with its registered head office in Ayabe, Kyoto Prefecture, its Osaka head office, and a Tokyo office. It was established on August 10, 1896, by Tsurukichi Hatano, and was originally known as Gunze Silk Manufacturing Co., Ltd. The company started the Gunze Blue-Mountain Underwear brand in association with Daiei in 1962, and this brand was used for all sexes before the introduction of the Christie brand for women in 1968.

how do you even fuck this up. First of all, slam a few beers before you even go outside, so your autism is drowned out. Also, don't just sit in a corner on your phone like a sperg, go to a bar where you can stand or be in the middle. Finally, when someone comes near your position, you need to give them the nod of acknowledgement then say a couple words "hey, what's goin on" then ask them where they're from or some other small talk, now the interaction has been initiated and you can engage in conversation until one of you gets bored and leaves

According to the Japanese, Tottori Kaiyukan aka カイユウカントットリテン (回遊館 鳥取店) located in Miyanaga, Tottori used to have the easiest crane games / claw machines in Japan but recent reviews suggest the easy times are over at Tottori Kaiyukan but the claws at this establishment still pack above average gripping power. In addition, Tottori Kaiyukan recently celebrated its 1 year anniversary on Saturday and Sunday of this week with discounted crane games and raffle prizes. Not only that but according to their Instagram account, Kaiyukan appears to have opened new stores in other locations.

>Took her out paid for the meal, mentioned I was interested in pursuing a romantic bf/Gf relationship if it clicked.

the problem, and I think you know this anon, is with you
not speaking the language isn’t a barrier, others being in groups isn’t a barrier - your self-confidence is
it’s honestly all made up, there is no difference in being truly confident and pretending to be, it’s just lies we tell ourselves
walked into this place 30 mins ago; had a drink and some gyoza, asked the dude to my right what he recommended, he responded in broken english which I complemented and then the 4 of us have been chatting since.
furthest guy then bought us all a round and I asked if I could snap a photo for the morons online that think that having fun is a chore

also fucking starbucks? really?! you couldn’t branch even a little out of your comfort zone?
if you’re a weeb, at least go for a manga cafe and get yourself a sweet spot for a few hours to chill and rinse the coffee stand etc.
you have a translate app that can handle images right? that gets you by most of these situations and at least out of fucking starbucks
if you want to tell me what location you are at i’ll tell you exactly where to go from there and what to say to get you in someplace interesting
>>
>>2583167
>there is no difference in being truly confident and pretending to be, it’s just lies we tell ourselves
kek, the shit リア充 say. There's a clear difference, true confidence is passive, default, while fake confidence takes active effort to put up and drains you of energy, and at some point in the night you can lose it because you're too tired to put it up and just revert to your default. People say "fake it till you make it" for a reason, you need to slowly build up your real confidence bit by bit using the fake one as a framework. I know because I've been in both situations, but you normalniggers have 0 empathy.
>>
>>2583167
>this guy gets it.
I like the Karoke bars because even if you can't communicate well, Karaoke is an easy language barrier.
Also most of these bars/Izakayas outside of the Tourist district barely see non japs. If your looking for a GF it's not a bad idea since people aren't as uptight in these places.
Honestly when you think about it, you have less to fear about dropping your spaghetti in Japan because people already know you can't speak the language well or know the customs and as long as you make a mocum of an effort to learn it will pay you divdens here.
>>
>>2583171
i think you just described exactly why there is no difference
if you don’t have it you have to put it on, so do that until you get tired?
having it naturally gets tiring too, fatigue of all kinds is human
>>
>>2583175
It's ok to admit when you're wrong. You won't make any lifelong relationships until you do.
>>
>>2583167
Right or wrong.

I'd still prefer to run a marathon than do this.

This time, Google kept a fairly well itinerary history without too much fucks up. Question: how can I make it show my entire travel at once? Looks like I can only view day by day, I want it to show 3 weeks worth of travel on the same map. Do I need to use some 3rd party software?

thats just normie reddit filth gaijins upset that the Japanese bureaucracy is basically no different than the vogons from Hitchhikers Guide to the galaxy, and cant understand that this is just the way its always been. A common complaint are the fax machines, or government websites which arent accommodating to foreigners at all
>>
>>2583260
I always found it strange that foreigners complain about Japanese still using fax machines in their country when fax machines are still being used today by doctors and pharmacists in America. For example, the fax machines at my local Walgreens pharmacy sees plenty of use especially when the Walgreens pharmacist is on a phone call with somebody's doctor.

Defends vigorously people who see him as a filthy gaijin in a proud proclamation. Take your ass back to Wallygreens and fuck off.

Japanese Cinema Tips

FIRST DAY OF THE MONTH: All Tokyo cinemas sell tickets for ¥1,100 on the first day of each month. Look for 毎月1日 or ファーストデイ on the cinema’s website.

LADIES’ DAY: Wednesday is ladies’ day at many cinemas, which usually offer tickets to females for ¥1,000 - ¥1,100. Look for 水曜女性 or レディースデイ on the cinema’s website.

MARRIED COUPLES’ DISCOUNT: If you’re married and you or your spouse is over 50, you both get in for a discount rate, usually ¥1,100. Look for いずれかが50歳以上の夫婦ペア or 夫婦50割引 on the cinema’s website.

SENIOR/STUDENT DISCOUNTS: One great perk of being over 60 to 70 or under 19 is that you can buy discounted tickets at most theaters. To be eligible as a high-school student, you must come with two friends. Look for シニア割引/学生割引 on the cinema’s website. Check with your theaters.

CINEMA DAY: Several cinemas offer discounts on their own designated Cinema Day. The 2nd-largest cinema chain owner, Toho, sells tickets for ¥1,000 on the 14th of each month, for example, to celebrate its founding date. Look for シネマデイ on the cinema’s website.

LATE/EARLY SCREENINGS: Many theaters offer discounts for late shows (usually after 9 pm), and some offer morning-show discounts. Look for 早朝/深夜割引 on the cinema’s website.

MEMBERS’ DISCOUNTS: A number of multiplexes and independent theaters offer special prices to their members, so if you go often to the following theaters, here are examples of their discounts:

SHAREHOLDERS’ TICKETS: If you happen to own stock in the following cinema operators, you can get special perks like free tickets: Kadokawa, Musashino, Shochiku, Subaru, Toei, Toho, Tokyo Theatre, Tokyu.

I'm a britbong going for around 10 days from 20th to new year.

Other question:
>What could I get for roughly £100 in Tobita and is it worth it?
>Could I experience the best parts/must see things in Kansai in just one day or should I stay longer?
>Hotspring better in Kansai or Tokyo?
>What should I do about money as a brit? Does a Revolut card work on the ATM's?
>Is it worth waiting til I get to kansai before I pick up an IC card? (as in should I get the ICOCA over Welcome SUICA and Pasmo Passport)
>Hostels or net cafes for accomodation?
>>
>>2583157
You're just supposed to pretend to be busy next time she wants to see you not write a treatise on your relationship
>>
>>2583230
the payment systems do, even if they accept card it's like some weird machine from 2008
>>
>>2583299
If you have an iPhone get the Suica app. It's in Japanese, just use a fake number and address
>>
>>2583299
>Does a Revolut card work on the ATMs?
Yes and also at regular payment terminals that accept credit cards.
>>
>>2583230
Japan grew rapidly from like the 80s to the mid 90s. Truthfully it's a society in decline.

Nothing wrong with that necessarily for travel purposes but that's what happened. Long term their geopolitical pull is gonna decline further too. Nobody is having kids at the rate they used to, or at all. Anywho.
>>
>>2583326
>I get all my information from Twitter
>>
>>2583333
Look at a fucking population pyramid dude. It does not take a brain surgeon to realize Japan is gonna shrink substantially in population.

nice quads tho

Only at Tobita. 3 or so hours with the main J◯ (odd number age) and a different unplanned surprise meeting with a different J◯ (even number) at Namba that went past the day's timeline into the next day.

>quick with the pros that will actually make you feel good and wastes hours with the children that will fumble around not knowing how to do anything
you got your priorities all mixed up
>>
>>2583373
I spent 75 minutes with my favorite girl at Tobita the next day, and Tobita is supposed to mostly be quickplay. Imagine not wanting to spend 3 hours with an incredibly cute and tiny sub-145cm J◯ for almost nothing. Some things are harder to come by even with money. My priorities are definitely in the right place
>>
>>2583382
no shot 3 hours with a JK cost less than getting soaped down.
>>
>>2583382
do i need to speak any japanese to go to these places?
>>
>>2583404
if you gotta ask just stick to tobita, they can handle foreigners
>>
>>2583260
Websites only working at working hours is fucking ridiculous though. What the fucking fuck.

Is it a hassle to keep your hotel in Osaka and just travel back and forth to Kyoto for like 3 days? Train tickets look ultra cheap and the ride seems ultra short. Is there some reason you guys can think of that I should get a hotel in kyoto instead?
>>
>>2583412
no, no hassle at all and better in my experience
>>
>>2583399
It normally wouldn't, but hit the jackpot with this one.
>>2583404
There's no "place." This is stuff that you're not going to really find much information on even on the Japanese forums, even the ones that deal with less conventional offerings. Like the other guy said, if you have to ask, it's not going to happen.
>>
>>2583412
Yeah, do it
Staying in Kyoto and/or Nara is a pain and depressing

>tfw when I have to tell a Chinese cunt in Kyoto to move because they kept taking 100 photos at the one great spot
They moved but they bitched about it in English. They ignored me until I did the “no speak English” bit then all of a sudden she knows English. Japan should’ve done a better job in ww2
>>
>>2583538
was it in kiyomizudera?
>>
>>2583545
Not that guy but i also had terrible expirience, right at kiyomizudera oneweek ago, 4 ugly chinese bitches hogged the spot for themselves and kept making pictures, after they did full rotation they started anew. I just squezed between them with my gf, because i already waited like 3 minutes.
>>
>>2583492
Yes...you're using a prostitute because you are pathetic and you go next level and get hood winked by them to bring them fucking omiyage - Like fuck.

But I just offended 70% of this thread
>>
why do monolingual whitoids still keep coming here and nig out when they can't get a japanese girlfriend to rape because nobody understands their English? People keep treating Japan like its kappa Mikey or Charisma man

What I want to know is, why can't they walk on the right side of the path like the Japanese. There's arrows everywhere telling foreigners how they walk here.
