As an Australian with a recently acquired EU citizenship I've vowed to move to Europe and basically live the rest of my life doing that.

Many europeans do like to travel around when they get the chance. Even boomers (notoriously lazy and stay-at-home, at least where I'm from) will often take long weekends in some european capital or other while getting scammed by touristy hotels. I know several people my age (excluding rich fags) who traveled more than me

Also, there can be huge differences in living cost between different european states. I'm an italian poorfag and to me, switzerland (which is literally next door, the border is less than 30 mins away by car from where I live) is simply unaffordable, accomodation and food simply costs too much. It's the same for nordic/scandinavian countries, I was able to afford norway only because I had a friend who let me sleep at his place in Oslo for a while, otherwise it would have been too expensive simply because buying a meal there would cost me at least two-three times what I'd spend in Italy, even in the absolute cheapest places. People from places in europe with less purchasing power have it even worse. However, conversely, if you're from western europe and want to travel on the cheap, eastern europe / balkans / caucasus are all fantastic options since everything is way cheaper

As other anons pointed out, flights can be stupidly expensive / inconvenient, to the point that "weekend breaks" aren't really practical (which is why moving by bus / train is generally better when you have the chance). This is especially a problem if you work a regular mon/fri weekly schedule

If we exclude families and just look at young people then in my experience most young Europeans, at least in the EU countries, travel a lot. I have been to many EU countries as a student - it's very popular to organize trips through student organizations, for example. Erasmus programme provides funding for that, on top of the obvious exchange stuff. Even after I graduated I still see lots of my friends doing either small weekend trips all over the continent or longer voyages once a year - but again, it's mostly the childless folks who do this.

Flying is inconvenient for short distances and discouraging with the waiting times, constant protests of literal whos, delays (I generally despise airports so I'm biased). Buses are very inconveniet if local, and Flixbus has a monopoly on interstate driving so it's expensive (and of course disgusting). BUT if you think trains are concenient... Oh my sweet summer child. Language difference is something that you will never understand unless you live there. It's not fun if you can't communicate with locals. For example I studied Spanish for like 3 years (maybe not like intensely but still) and when I went to Southern Spain I didn't understand A SIGNLE FUCKING THING. Only people I could speak with where Latin Americans lmao.

Anyway let me be clear:
1.Almost every European person travelled to few other EU countries. Even my fucking grandma.
2.There's mostly no point in travelling to every one of them. Regions are very similar, France is similar to Spain, Italy to Greece, Nordcucks are literally the same, Poland to Germany, and Balkans as a whole. UK is a different region on it's own I guess, but still similar to Nordcucks.

An Italian friend of mine has an uncle. He is in his 60s and has never gone more than one town over from his, and when I say town, I don't think he has ever seen a community with more than 5,000 people (I know the towns there well). He has spent his whole life about an hour's drive from the provincial capital and has never been bothered to visit. Simply doesn't care. I haven't asked but I think a few of my older family members are similar.

Last time I traveled to Europe I spent a week in Madrid and another in Paris.
Madrid was... ok? The food was excellent and the Museo del Prado is a must-see but the weather was extremely hot (don't go to Spain during the summer, it's unbearable) and it's very tourist-trappy.
Paris was apocalyptic however. Streets were dirty, Arabs and subsaharans everywhere, couldn't visit the Louvre because of the kilometric line of chink tourists, a fucking glass box around the Eiffel tower and burned out Notre Dame.
Europe is expensive and a lot of countries are boring/shitholes.
