Great beaches obviously, but expensive, flat, boring. For financial services people and families.

Mostly retired crooks/scammers/business executives/boomers who were born as trust fund babies and never worked a single day in their lives so the place is expensive as fuck by design.

Cost of living is high, food is expensive and not always the best quality, sea food is expensive, entertainment is expensive and there's not much nature to explore as most of the activities you'll find involve the sea.

Worth a visit if you like to relax and just enjoy the beaches, but after a week it'll feel like an expensive prison. Living wise, with those prices i'd rent a flat in Monaco so i can enjoy France/Spain/Italy with relative ease.

Regarding Belize, pre-covid it was a nice place to visit, post-covid it's a crime riddled shithole and a lot of the population has the "eat the rich" mentality where they blame all their problems on white foreigners. If you go be careful, poverty skyrocketed there with covid and everyone is desperate enough to kill to feed their children.

Yep I went in 2018. It was my first time travelling since I was a kid and the furthest I had ever been from home at the time. Most of the 'things to do' there are beach/ocean related, if you love beaches and, really a lot more so, if you love swimming then it might be for you. The water around the beaches is teeming with life so it is very interesting to like snorkel around in and stuff, there are services that will take tourists out to the deeper ocean to swim about in and see the kinds of life out there too. So yeah if you enjoy swimming in ocean then it definitely has a wealth of things for you to do.
If you like the idea of like 'walking around' and stuff then you will not like that aspect of it, it is extremely unwalkable outside of the capital, so if you had any fantasies of walking around the island, abandon them, its practically impossible (I tried). In general if you like hiking and stuff like that, there is, basically nothing to do regarding that area - there is a little nature trail that I did not visit and is apparently quite boring. You can also have a tour of the crystal caves, but its just a short tour, so you dont have much freedom, nonetheless the things you see in it are pretty cool.
Other than that there is the kind of hanging out with your millionaire friends drinking expensive cocktails in an expensive hotel, or while lounging on the beach aspect of it, lots of beach bars to support this kind of cocktail beach lounging lifestyle as well, but I don't find that interesting at all so I never went for it.
As for Belize, I have never been, so cannot give any opinion or comparisons.

oh yeah regarding the pic i was lucky enough to know a guy there with a boat, so I got to go sailing one time, that was pretty cool. I imagine its definitely the best way to get around to different parts of the island.

not sure to what extent i would agree. the ocean is beautiful, the beaches would be beautiful it werent for all the people, but the actual island itself, just several metres away from the shore? I dont know....
