why is /trv/ so negative, it feels like a depressing extension to /pol/. like is there a single place you fuckers actually LIKE to travel to?
>>
It's anonymous, toughen the fuck up. If you want a hugbox you know where to go back to
>>
Because
>people come here asking to be spoonfed without providing basic info like where they are from
>get pissy when they don't get a (You) within 5 minutes to a duplicate coomer or doomer thread
>mistake this place for soc or r9k
>get told something you don't want because it's not how the real world works

Just go to /int/ if you want the above, it's such a faster board than this place
>>
>>2421973
This is probably the one place on Earth you'll get honest opinions, without interference from the need to be polite or financial interest.

Italy, Greece, Turkey, Japan, China, Thailand, and Vietnam tend to be the least controversial destinations. They're all ancient countries with vibrant city lives, and a reasonable cost of living.

I have a hunch that Australia would be popular as well, if it weren't for all the self-hating Aussies on the board. I've never met a nation more fond of whinging in my entire life. You'd think it was a complete shithole when it's a safe, clean white country with decent economic opportunity, even if it is rather boring and expensive.
>>
>>2421983

>Vietnam

We can't have a single thread about Vietnam without the Australian-Vietnamese ricecel shitting it up.

Frankly, Australia was a mistake, and it would best.if their internet connection was severed altogether.

I don't find /trv/ particularly depressing, once you ignore all the poltroon shit (collapse of the west/I'm so depressed bros/le blackpill/global homos/schizoshit etc etc) I suspect a lot of people posting that stuff are Australian also.
>>
>>2421973
Instead of coming here to complain about shit that doesn't matter like the rest of this board, go out and do something. For instance, idk, travel? Unironically who cares if the place you choose to sucks, you're still living more of a life than the majority of the posters on here. Life is short, anon.
>>
>>2422002
You can be an embittered chud and still have a life.

Lord Byron left Britain for Italy because of his terrible reputation, he was still getting pussy left and right. Screwing a different Venetian every night during Carnivale, sleeping with his landlord's wife, having a kid with a local countess. But if you read his letters? Pure misogynistic bile that wouldn't be out of place here at all.

Fuck normie larpers who come here acting like they're better than everyone else. If you don't like it here, you're welcome to fuck off at any time.

>>
>>2422148
I don't see how is my statement untrue. I see very little contribution here.
Unlike the other anon, I don't actively blame /pol/ and coomers. I just think that standards on the internet have gotten quite shit since covid. Youtube, 4chan, or anything else, really.
People get their travel ideas from social media, youtubers (very very bad models for most of them), which are bad sources of inspiration/information to begin with. And a lot of people are generally bitter so they like to shit upon anything that can be quite surprisingly nice because it doesn't join their doomsday vision of the world.
>>
>>2421973
>like is there a single place you fuckers actually LIKE to travel to?
They like Japan because it is their autistic fantasyland, and Thailand/Philippines for cooming.

Just search the archives if there's a place your interested in, it wasn't always this bad.

Reddit is not a hugbox for anyone who has an opinion that is even slightly controversial. There are no good places on the internet, because there are just no good people. Everybody sucks.
>>
>>2422340

>>

That's why this is the best place on the internet, people can be themselves
>>
>>2422210

>>
>>2422486
It was always a niche thing for people who spent too much time on the internet in those days. People like Fresh and Fit brought it to the mainstream with multi-million youtube followings thanks to bored zoomers sitting at home all day blowing off online classes.
>>
>>2422149
>I see very little contribution here.
Some little analysis:
21 of the first 30 threads by bump order can be considered "on topic", aka asking something related to travel, excluding meta threads, e-celeb and /int/-tier "culture discussion".
Of those 21 threads, 18 have one or more replies that can be considered helpful or contributing to the topic at hand.
Of the remaining 3 threads, 2 of them have only been posted in the last 6 hours.

What would be your accepted level of active contribution?
>>
>>2422147
This, and anyone who says otherwise haven’t spent being time here.

/trv/ used to be one of the best actual travel boards on the internet. Before 2015, we had anons who were actually going out and doing really impressive things: there was the French guy motorcycling across Congo, the European vantage traversing Central Asia, and the anon who freighthopped the coal train in Sudan.

Nowadays, you can’t talk about any countries that aren’t one of the following:
>all-white Aryan town in Podunk, Idaho
>all-White place in Europe with no Muslim immigrants and/or refugees (so no Berlin, London, parish etc)
>Ching-Chong Coomer destination
>>
>>2422555
>Nowadays, you can’t talk about any countries that aren’t one of the following: strawman1, strawman2, strawman3
Bullshit. You can discuss any destination but for some you have to filter out some posters acting in bad faith. Good thing is that they're easy to spot and hide if you're not a thin-skinned faggot.
Yeah, I could live without shills and trolls on here, but show me a better general travel forum that isn't micro-modded to death or filled with advertisers and influencers peddling their wares.
>>
>>2422559
Any thread about Canada is impossible to use, and some threads get instantly derailed especially those dealing with Paris, London or any major destination. There’s a resident “something” in each type of thread; pro-ccp shill, anti-ccp shill, resident vax shill, mentally ill Canada basher etc.

>Good thing is that they're easy to spot and hide if you're not a thin-skinned faggot.
This. The people complaining about coomers are more annoying than the coomer themselves. Obviously, some destinations are more popular than others, and there will always be talk of sex tourism on an anonymous travel board. Retards don't understand that by getting rid of it, they'd ruin everything good about this place. Then it'd become like every other hyper-sanitized safe space for BLT trannies on the internet.

Then again, many of the posters calling for that are actually women, who never bought into the things that make 4chan unique in the first place. /trv/ is secretly one of the most gender-balanced boards. The women have been around long enough not to call attention to their gender (most of the time). The proof of this is one of the Japan meetups before COVID, it was 40% girls (they weren't bad looking either). But it's like girls can't enter any space frequented by nerds without trying to ruin it. And now we've come full circle back to Gamergate.

tl;dr Women can't help being agents of conformity.
>>

>Any thread about Canada is impossible to use
Every board has its own memes, those are just trv's. Canada is such a horrible place to live that any honest assessment would be gloomy and repetitive. The only way one can talk about the country over and over is through several layers of irony.

The Canada schizo isn't just one guy. I would know, because I'm one of them.

This board used to be comfy and coomers were designated to their own threads. Since post covid a bunch of new fags kept bitching to the mods and derail any thread related to the prospect of sex by larping as normies and chads and spamming diseased whores. If we had sex tourism generals this wouldn’t even be an issue.

place is fucking lightning fast now because of newfags who come here to farm easy (You) dopamine hits spamming reskinned /ck/ baitposts
i still check in once in a while to see if this place has any hope left but ive gone back to mostly browsing 2010~2014 /trv/ threads on the archives
>>
I personal opinion

Back in the /b/ with all the gore and edgy stuff , sure you would spot negative crap occasionally but in general the 4chan audience were more humane , there was actually genuine interactions, till the internet become social media madness and a pit of vulgarity .
People would sent bitcoin , pizzas and food to each others, when some anon opened thread venting he's misfortunes , people would actually all share empathy and help him .
I remember that , i recall 1 thread about some anon living in bad situation no food barely had money for food, and it was impressive the spirit of anons that flooded the thread to help him, sending him , paypal donations , words of comfort.

Things changed , that's about it, the world feels more cold outside and it reflects in here since internet become mainstream corporate internet and not the cozy nerd innocent virtual oasis anymore
>>
>>2421973

>>
>>2421973
4chan is a place for contrarians. A pity that some people end up brainwashed by this place.
>>
>>2424054
Thing is I've met an Australian IRL who was like this too. He wasn't a NEET, he was a college student. There's even a wikipedia article on the subject of Australians' disdain for their own culture. At least he was a fan of Nick Cave, so he wasn't too dire of a case.

>>
>>2423390
This is the biggest fallibility with /pol/fags, their whole understanding why they're hated nearly as much as furries across 4chan is that the average poster is just a "leftist" that can't take le heccin freespecherino and hurt in fee fees by epic logic and facts. Meanwhile the truth is that no one wants to read about Jews in a board dedicated to automobiles for example. Or see whatever boogeyman of the month on a board for outdoors. I regularly post on a general that discusses boxing. Normally the discussion is dominated by actual boxing discussions. People will post some retarded things and there are resident schizos, but nothing too disruptive. But every time there's a high profile fight or some meme event that involves a white and black fighter you'll have retards who clearly don't understand anything about boxing spam 3000 word essays about races, Jews and US politics. I shit you not. Also similarly retards will spam stupid race bait that most regulars and fans of the sport will ignore, meanwhile same /pol/ retards will spam nearly 200 replies to easily ignorance bait in seething fury while also claiming everyone is an oversensitive snowflake in the same breath. Shit becomes unusable then. Even if you make a new tread they'll just migrate there. Eventually they'll fuck off and it will be all people who actually like boxing, but it's like reading mentally retarded down syndrome patients attempting human speech when that happens. Obviously if you say anything, they'll say some similarly stupid shit about muh free speech, waah waah your fee fees, etc.
>>
>>2422582
I also talk shit about our home country if I'm ever given the opportunity

>>
>>2424173
>I could see the appeal if I was coming from some other strange land
Yeah, if you are a poojeet willing to part with his life savings for the chance to live in a place that doesn't reek of feces
>>
>>2421973
>depressing extension of /pol/
/pol/ is the realization that the developed world is going downhill, while /trv/ is the realization that you CAN leave but everywhere else is even worse to live(unless you're a coomer and don't care about anything else)

Also, this is like the only place where you can honestly discuss the pros and cons of different countries. It doesn't have to be all positive. Most of the internet is fake positive as is. It's healthy to have at least one place that is not
>>
>>2421973
I don't know what you mean, there are generals for several different countries filled with enthusiastic people
> the weebs: china and japan
> the swashbuckling pirate tranny chasers: thailand
> the machete and blow enthusiast: Colombia general
> the i'm a white virgin and just want to coom: Phillippines
and of course lots of threads about Europe.

The only place people are as a rule negative about is the Anglosphere bc those are just miserable places to live, and India because they poo on the streets
>>
>>2424230
India isn't really that hated here as there's quite a few people who have gone there. It's bit annoying discussing India on 4chan because it's always people spamming le funny memes without any real discussion. Meanwhile IRL and in most other places people will admit it is a shithole but also say it has its merits. To be honest this website rots your brain if you spend too much time, it's too negative and creates horded of contrarian retards.
>>
>>2421973
Newflash, every board is like that, and you don’t have to like something to want to have a discussion about it
>>
>>2424197
I think there is a lot of truth here. I think /pol/fags are mostly teenagers going through their roughest years and trying to make sense of the big gay world that is fucking with them. Most of us had a similar phase that we grew out of it, for the most part. I think /trv/ obviously skews older and our similarity to /pol/ is our disgust at how buckbroken American men are to their very fat women. /pol/ is the impotent rage of a teenager, /trv/ is a tired cynicism.
>>
>>2424336
>It's bit annoying discussing India on 4chan because it's always people spamming le funny memes without any real discussion.
I agree, India threads on /trv/ always attract the lowest effort posts. At least the Canada poojeet pastas have some effort put into them, and they're actually funny. All the India threads are is "hurr gonna creampie brown woman muh dik."

I'm not one of those people who complains about sex tourism talk, but come on now. At least if there were actually useful advice like the Philippines thread, but no, you can tell it's teenage poltards who have never, and likely will never set foot in the country. The only redeeming feature of those threads is that one guy who's spent his entire adult life in the country, and his effortposts.
>>
>>2424396
>All the India threads are is "hurr gonna creampie brown woman muh dik."
It's a recent development caused by bad moderation deleting any hints of Indian women having sex with anybody but their arranged groom.
If the mods would allow some discussion analog to other generals the low-effort coomposting would be mostly gone, replaced by some more or less informative posts on the topic, see any East Asia or SEA thread for examples.
>>
>>2424399
if the jeet mod can't stand the idea of cooming in indian women then you better believe I will be posting about it at every opportunity
>>
>>2424437
Cooming in actual Indians in India will be very difficult. Take BaldAndBankrupt. You can find his forum posts talking about his time in India. He lived there for years and only bagged two women, both being dancers or something like that which is looked down upon as a promiscuous profession in India. That was Bald when he still had hair and good looks. Don't forget he is 6'3" too. People talking about cooming in India is as realistic as people here talking about dating 9/10 women. It's just not realistic. Why bother? Besides most Indian girls are very plain or outright ugly. You're better off fucking Westernised Indians living abroad, ideally first or second gen immigrants.
