Everyone talks about traveling, but what specifically are you doing abroad?

Especially to justify a week or two there?
Are you guys partying every night or striking up convos with strangers?

Historical sites + Party hostel
I went solo to Paris recently, main motivation was to see the Louvre, specifically to see the Roman section (was fucking closed, absolutely seething). Then spent each night with people I met in my room drunk on wine at the Eiffel tower, which had lots of light displays which I assuming was because it was just before Bastille day. Favourite places I went to was the Medieval museum and Saint Chapelle

as an autist, I first went to Europe (from US) a few times and would focus on museums and put local music in my ears. I'd eat kind of adventurously but not too much. I liked to walk around different kinds of neighborhoods outside of the touristy areas.

Now that I'm older and the novelty of being in a foreign place has worn off, I'm quite the foodie always trying to find the spots off the beaten path. I like to rent a car and explore rural areas and show that Americans can be respectful tourists.

>>
this is what i've always wondered. i grew up poor and never had a chance to travel. now i'm doing better and can afford it...but what the fuck do you actually do in a foreign country? go to museums? nightclubs? get drunk and high the whole time? outdoors shit?
>>
Fucking hell americans really dont know how to relax

I'm a regular traveler, so I'll answer your autistic question with a badass analogy.

What do you do in your living room versus your bedroom? What do you do in your living room versus the gym? Different activities, right? Well, guess what, in different countries and cities all over the world, there are literally DIFFERENT things to see and do.

Go to thailand and get two beautiful women to rub their bodies all over you with warm, soapy lotion water until you cum for $120.00. (Yes, two women for $120.00.) Go to India and act rich because you literally ARE there. Go to France and be fucking pretentious and eat some weird, great-tasting shit.

You're over-thinking travel. You're not magically going somewhere super special, you're simply taking for granted that you are one of the extremely, EXTREMELY rare few that have the opportunity AND money to travel more than 100 miles from your home-town and experience literally whatever you want. 500 years ago less than 1% of people got to do that. Now it's like 50% of people or something.

Go to another country and meet an actual FEMININE woman who ACTUALLY treats you right. Go to another country and meet a guy who thinks you're actually cool to hang out with and have fun with him like a "bro."

Go see interesting things WITH YOUR OWN EYES instead of looking at pictures on your phone/computer. It's literally DIFFERENT in person versus on a screen.

I hope this kind of answers your stupid question.

Travel is really unique and without doing it, you don't know what you're missing -- even if it's not magical, it's still unique and will stay with you forever.

You wake up. You walk down to the street and find a bakery for breakfast. Then you walk around and look at shit. For lunch, you find a good sandwich place. Then you go back to the room and take a nap until 3. At 3, you make a reservation for dinner later in the night. Then you get up and go walk around and see more shit. Then you eat dinner. Then you watch the sunset. Then you find a cool bar and get wasted. Then you go back to your room and fuck your wife, girlfriend, or a prostitute. Then you go to sleep and do it again tomorrow
>>
>>2299378

Literally everything you said. Imagine if I took one of my favorite things and reduced it like you did. "Wow, sex, penis in vagina it's not that special." Sure, I can say that, but I would certainly rather HAVE SEX than scoff at it like a loser and NOT have it, you know? Americans over-think things and kind of ruin them because of that fact. If I took you somewhere foreign and did all the things you mentioned, we'd probably have an amazing, surreal time that we would never forget for the rest of our lives. Writing it and even thinking about it kind of ruins the actual, REAL moments where it would be happening you know?

I have HUGE problems relaxing because I've experienced "trauma" and bad shit before -- and I've seen enough to know it happens. However, I still TRY sometimes to relax and adventure, because the alternative is way too depressing. AKA NOT traveling or trying to have some adventure in my life.
>>
>>2299413

I love this thread. It's making me realize how much I overthink things, even though I've traveled to ten countries and "kind of" know how to have a decent time there.
>>
As a frequent traveller, I exclusively take leisure trips to tropical places that have resorts (high-end property of chain strongly preferred). Further, all leisure flights are in premium cabin where possible.

The point of having a leisure trip is doing nothing, getting away from work, etc. Nowadays, my wife looks up what to do, special things to eat, what I would like, etc.
>>
>>2299421

There is a line between doing nothing and paying $3,000.00 vs doing nothing at home for free... you have to kind of consider that honestly if you're just wasting money for no reason.
>>
>>2299423
Depends where you live. If you live in southern California and you're 10 minutes from the beach, you don't really need a tropical vacation. If you live in Topeka Kansas, $3000 is probably worth it to see the beach and some women that don't weigh 300 pounds.
>>
See whatever sights interest you. Go to big local sports matches. Visit historical places, cool buildings, you can look up shit that is interesting and skip the boring shit. Walking through gardens and green urban spaces. Going on a sailing tour, seeing a foreign beach.

Main thing for me honestly is trying new food. I hated trying new foods at first but when I got into early 20's I said fuck it and just try everything and it's very rewarding to eat spicy shit or weird ass seafood.

Also, get shitfaced. Have a few drinks and walk around a foreign city is fun as hell. And take really memorable pictures with my girlfriend. Also take a few pictures without her in them to use as bait on tinder, just in case we break up

Before going to any destination, I usually read a book about its history. Preferably a general version of it. So I know at least what I will be looking at.
Drive, stop in small villages, enjoy the food, visit historical landmarks, do some birdwatching, hike for a day or two. Sometimes I go to a large city, I usually give back the car I have rented there, explore the city, eat well, visit historical landmarks and museums, sometimes go to bars and interact with locals. Times flies very, very fast.

Honestly I love it, I will never get tired of doing it.
>>
>>2299423
Thats why I go to cheap countries. Last trip, outside of hotel costs, I spent only about $300 within two weeks without even trying to be stingy or feeling restricted at all.
>>
A lot of the activities here involve interacting with women, so let me introduce a hard mode.
What do you specifically do if you are extremely misogynistic?
>>
>>2299732
Good women appreciate misogyny and they certainly won't want to fuck a male feminist just be yourself. I have women asking me all the time for sexist favors like can you reach that item on the top shelf. I even had to help an old woman who was picking wildflowers get back up on the path because it was a sloped grade.
>>
>>2299288
photography was a fun day hobby to have while traveling and gives you something to do at night to look over the photos you took and figure out how to get a better shot if you're not out drinking. It also helps me better remember things I did while traveling with the people and experiences.
>>
drink beers in the go go bars
>>
I like doing stuff up mountains or on water that’s hard to do where I live as a wagie. So I go places with nice mountains and/or coasts.

Sone people can spend a fortnight on a beach reading a book. Not my idea of fun but not my trip

>What do you specifically do if you are extremely misogynistic?
go to muslim country, you wont have to interact with them
>>
>>2299799
The average muslim woman is more feminine than the average western woman and you will interact with a lot of them if you actually travel to muslim countries besides urban Afghanistan.
>>
>>2299404
Its true. Its both a blessing and a curse. Weve been brought up in our lives constantly being told that we always need to be improving and that "time is money". The end result is that in your mind in every social interaction you must come out on top and appear the "most alpha", every time you go out you must score a threesome with the bar or clubs hottest 10/10's, and if you so much as take an hour long stroll through a park to clear your head without having $10,000 of "passive income" being magically deposited into your back account by the time you finish then you are a huge fucking loser who has failed at life. The good news is is that it does drive people to become better and improve, sometimes dramatically, the bad news is is that its never enough and that the constant struggle of obtaining perfection or constantly using your free time to improve means you can unironically never relax enough to truly enjoy life.

No, no, I understand. I was commenting on the fact that person mentioned "doing nothing" on their vacation. It's fun to do nothing ... but you don't have to spend money to do that, you know?
