Oktoberfest is coming back to Germany (last one was in 2019 before the coof). Anyways my older brother told me going to Oktoberfest was his most memorable experiences before getting married. Anyways I already purchased my plane ticket with Delta ($1400) from 09/23 to 10/02. I am landing in Frankfurt and spending half the week there, then getting a train to see the countryside to Munich. Munich is my departing airport. I want to set a budget of $2000 while I'm there ($250/day). I want to stay at a hostel to meet other tourists and try to group up so I don't feel weird drinking a beer by myself in a corner. Anyone in here have recommendations on which hostel I should choose or which train I should get? Anyone have local favorites to visit in both Munich and Frankfurt? Hobbies include visiting museums, learning history, drinking large quantities of beer, and eating food that I can't normally find in the US. I also heard Germans all speak english, but I guess I can learn how to speak sauerkraut.

>inb4 why did you over-pay for an airplane ticket
I have global upgrade certificates and lounge access from Delta Airlines, so I don't mind paying more to get automatically upgraded to first class for the trip.

Protip: Leave that shithole frankfurt asap after your arrival and head to wurzburg/bamberg/nuremburg on your way down to munich.

Frankfurt is only worth a day (unless you're super interested in its history or banking or something).

I am pretty interested in visiting museums and hoping I can find one that caters to the history of banks while in frankfurt

When you arrive, you will probably be placed at a table with other English speakers. It's fun. try to practice holding your piss for a decent amount of time. Find lederhosen to wear.

I studied in Hamburg in 2010 and went to the oktoberfest for the shits and gigs. Since then I go with friends every year.

>Anyone in here have recommendations on which hostel I should choose or which train I should get?
Never stayed in hostels, only airbnb and now cheap hotels.

>Anyone have local favorites to visit in both Munich and Frankfurt?
Frankfurt isn't worth it. I agree with FPBP anon, Nuremberg is nice. As for München, you will find the center nice.

>I also heard Germans all speak english
Not all, but most of them yes

All in all, you will like it a lot, especially if you get wasted (not worth it if you don't drink). As it is your first time, go to the HB tent, very international.

By the way, I'm married and it has never stopped me from going. You can score some chicks, yeah, but it's not the primary goal

Bamberg is a good adress if you like beer as some have already recommended. Especially the small villages around Bamberg have probably some of the best beer in the world, Brauerei Wagner in Merkendorf just to name one.
If you like museums I would definetely recommend to visit Germansisches Nationalmuseum in Nürnberg which is the biggest cultural museum focusing entirely on the German speaking culture. Nürnberg is sometimes considered to be a shithole but it has some nice aspects too, the churches Sebald and Lorenz for example feature some fascinating christian artworks. Schanzenbräu is the best brewery in Nürnberg, they also have a good restaurant.
Alte Pinakothek in Munich is a must see among Munichs museums.
You can reach Bamberg and Nürnberg easily by train on your way between Frankfurt and Munich

are you telling me that I haven't been learning german for nothing? I'm learning it because my mom speaks it and I want to know it so we can speak it, but other than that and maybe reading some /lit/ I've heard it's pretty much dead/dying.

Learning a language is never for nothing.
If your German is decent enough you'll have much more fun, especially with fellow drunks.
