I wanna move there, not just visit. Here’s the appeal:
>no cold weather
>5 hours from Tijuana, cali, etc. (centrally located in the west)
>transience (I’m a schizoid and I don’t really care about making friends or getting close to people)
>world class food (meaning a vast assortment of cuisines)
>?24 hour shopping?
>hookers (but I’d go to TJ for that)
>cheap and available flights to everywhere in the world

I have no real skills and I just want to not live on the east coast and support myself. My demands aren’t high. As long as I can get by, save a little, and go fuck hookers that about does it for me. I don’t gamble or so drugs, and my only real “vice” is a few beers/drinks once in awhile. A bonus that I could see is somehow falling into the service industry there, developing some people skills, etc (hope and delusion)

I also just like a little bit of sleaze and shadiness where I live. I don’t want everything to be “good,” there’s a certain enjoyable flavor to a little scuzz in your life

>no cold weather
Winter in a desert is colder than you think, it's why 75F in Phoenix or Vegas feels way cooler than 75F in a place with humidity and trees to block wind. The Vegas area can often get snow nothing that accumulates but it's not warm all year round like people think
>5 hours from Tijuana, cali, etc
You'll get bored after this, besides who drives that?
>transience
Enjoy going broke
>?24 hour shopping?
Not really unless you quantify the strip, even then plenty of 24hr walmarts, targets, walgreens, etc all over the country
>cheap and available flights to everywhere in the world
Kinda, heavily depends on quite a lot of factors, often flying into vegas is different than flying from vegas.

Good luck moving there as a lot of retirees have fucked the economy over, Vegas is quite easy to move into but very hard to move out of, the cost of living to income fucks a lot of people over.
>>
>>2120166
Are you saying the COL is high?
>>
>>2120169
Vegas has insanely weird COL, most people don't realize this and assume casinos pay well. While you can live your income to COL ratio can be really fucked.
>>
>>2120162

To be totally honest OP, you'd be disappointed or disallusioned with Vegas really fast based on your list of appeals. San Diego's metro area sounds like it'd have everything you could possible desire.
>>
>>2120195
Damn man I might do that instead. I could commute to Chula Vista and live in Tijuana jajaja
*playful high five*

What’s with all the Vegas shilling here lately? Did some autist at their board of tourism stumble across /trv/?

>Winter in a desert is colder than you think
It's hard to explain to people who haven't lived here. Winter in the desert isn't a second, milder summer. You have 100 degree days well into the fall (though July and August are by far the worst) then seemingly one day it transitions to freezing 20F nights and 50F highs and one day in the spring God turns the heat back on. There seems to be no "moderate" season when its comfy to be outside as the change seems to occur over only a week or 2 and it gets really windy in the winter...

Of course, 52F with sun is still attractive to people who live in Minnesota which is why the area attracts snowbirds. If you're from the east coast the dryness and general lack of anything green unless its an irrigated patch of grass might get to you. The lack of humidity also means the temperatures are freezing in the morning but hot AF by 10 am.

>>2120174
Housing, food, etc. are cheap by big city standards but the economy is geared towards low pay jobs and you'll compete with a shit ton of thirdworlders who work for under $10/hr. All the casinos pay minimum wage and people live of tips. This can go either way. Skilled trade and IT people do ok but Nevada has a lower min wage than most everywhere in the west.

>>2120195
>San Diego
I live here now and I really like it. I don't like the creeping socialism of the state I live in but I like everything else. I'm not sure I'd recommend the area to someone who doesn't have a plan for jobs and shit. It's an expensive place to move to and one where the locals have their own way of doing things and are suspicious of transplants, particularly of east-coasters. It's easier to make it here when you know people to live with or who can get you a job. Tons of people chase the California dream. It's hard to find work without networking your way in. Things also close early in SD, might be the military influence. It's rare to find a restaurant that opens past 9 pm or a bar past 1 am.

Vegas anon here. Born and raised.

Depends, I’ve met a lot of people from the north east that absolutely love it here because it never snows and hardly gets cold. Things are open 24/7, and the food here is great, especially if you love Asian food. Pick any time during the night/day and you can eat amazing sushi driving less then 15 minutes.

Night life is fun. If you’re young, hang around down town. If you’re older, hang around the strip. Night life can get extremely pricey and a lot of it comes down to a dick measuring contest with cash if you’re down on the strip. You said you aren’t interested in vice, so this probably won’t apply to you. There are things like resorts for locals where you can get cheap drinks and play cheap tables. Even if you aren’t a gambling man, the chill environment and cheap fun gambling will start to grow on you.

The bonus you stated of getting yourself in the service industry is always what I referred to as the trap of Vegas. A lot of people come here and get jobs as bartenders, or waiters, or casino dealers, and it pays well enough. Sometimes 40k a year, all the way up to over 100k a year at the right casino, but they get stuck in it. It’s a trap. They work and make enough money off tips to live off of and look up one day and realize 15 years of their life went by. If you’re a simple man with simple ambitions, perhaps you will find this favorable. Be careful with it though. Many people fall for this trap.

If you like sleeze and scuzz, this is probably the town for you. The Mexicans and blacks living here are alright and pretty friendly. North of Las Vegas you get the real hood trash and crack heads, sprinkled with white trailer trash. Most people here seem to have a fake facade to them. Nice to your face but couldn’t give less of a shit once your done interacting with them. It’s very difficult finding genuine people here, and there’s very much a dog eat dog mentality.

Cont

You’ll learn how to spot the fakes. It’s also very clique here. I mean it when I say the best way to earn respect in this town is to have money.

Besides all that bullshit, the summers are brutal. Absolutely brutal. If your AC breaks, you have to get it fixed or else your house in unlivable. Your cars will have issues if you park it outside because of the unrelenting 120 degree heat. It’s dry and rough during the months of May, June and July. Some enjoy it if they’re used to the cold weather but it’s the one issue of this town that is really dragging on me.

Most of the suburbs are copy and paste. Same shit for miles with no difference. Everything is flat and brown. Houses all look the same, cookie cutter copy of everything.

The golf is good.

Some people really enjoy it here and spend their entire lives. Other people move and never look back. Come visit for a month or so during the summer. If you enjoy it then, you’ll enjoy it every other part of the year. Good luck anon.

>Your cars will have issues if you park it outside because of the unrelenting 120 degree heat.
PHX here, this part is true. My 5 year old garaged car is like new when others of 3 years in the sun has visors and rear view mirrors literally falling off.

Odd question for here but know of anything good for families outside of the strip? I hear a lot of this emerging city so I wonder where the family appeal is.
>>
>>2120169
I think the average cost of an apartment is up to $1700/mo now. When you are making $40k in the service industry, that's pretty rough.
>>
>>2120162
there are hookers in Tijuana? Good ones?
>>
Is it wrong if i'm addicted to vegas? I'm planning to go there every 3 months. No gambling just staying in fancy hotels, eating fancy food, walking in the strip and watch some shows.
>>
>>2120948
Tbh I’d probably just rent a room dude or maybe a van lol. I’m not paying that much ever. Maybe I’ll just end it so I don’t have to worry
>>2121267
Umm yes. The only problem is they don’t do bareback anything. Maybe if I spent more time there with more rapport the story would be different (I was there for 36 hours in 2016). But yea the first hooker I ever fucked was from Hong Kong club and her body was insane. Flat as fuck tiny stomach/waist and a phat but tight ass. We periodically stared at each other longer than usually for like 2 hours (I was with my friends) and I was just like damn bros I gotta smash
>>
>>2120162
I was there in January and most of it was closed. I even tried to find a job and literally nobody was hiring anywhere. The rooms were more expensive than the last time I went and I got some relatively cheap place for about $40 a night that had a casino built in. There were streetwalkers everywhere. Literally any young lady outside was hooking on this street.

Everything is expensive. It's airport-level expensive, NYC 7-11 level expensive. A bottle of soda is like 5 bucks. It's ridiculous.

This is a gambling town. Everything is about gambling. You probably won't win, but your chances are probably higher than elsewhere since so many people are playing at once. I was lucky to break even after a heavy loss in January.

It's the same old game as anywhere else. They liquor you up then part you with your money. This goes for casinos, stripclubs, hookers, you name it. It's the same game.

I didn't see many people outside when I was there. I was there for 4 days with a rental car and it was pretty desolate. The casinos were only at 30% capacity. It was mostly old people.

I found a few relatively inexpensive apartments, and some you could pay about $260 a week for, but rent here is as high as Dallas and other major cities are. It's cheaper in most places outside of the northeast and west coast, but this is almost there.

Everyone just wants money.

TLDR; the city is a hot pile of shiny lights with people getting you drunk then taking your money. It's as shallow of a place as you can possibly imagine, and their economy depends entirely on gambling and charging outrageous prices for everything. If you feel like losing literally everything you own to the casinos and the pawn shops, then be my guest, but otherwise it's not worth the hassle.
>>
>>2121317
Yea this threads kill. I’m gonna scrap my plans. I might wind up moving to a literal small town instead because I’m just gonna get raped by the COL everywhere else as an unskilled faggot

Go during a peak period. Everything is better. The casinos pay, there's women everywhere who just want to hook up and aren't desperate for cash from losing it all on the slots so they slut on the corner, etc.

See, covid locked down everything and yet prices for rent skyrocketed. This isn't because of demand, it's because they have overhead and not enough demand, so they need higher prices. If they had 1000 people available for every room, they wouldn't need to jack the prices up because it will always be rented. Competition will start dropping rates because there's so much supply of customers. It's pretty much the opposite of what you'd think.

My first two trips were ok. My last trip I banged two nigs I met walking to the liquor store. One was a pregnant teen and I nailed her condomless in the ass until she couldn't take it and grabbed some lotion, then just sucked me off. I had already banged the other nig that day, who was taller than me and had a ghetto butt. She deepthroated and drooled on my balls while I licked her asshole and jiggled her giant ass around.

They weren't that high quality but they were both at least 6/10s. I've seen some 10/10s in Vegas walking around but they're harder to talk to with so many people and probably weren't working on the corner.

It could be a decent place if you really plan on living there, but I would go the poor route and find the cheapest place you can because jobs are going to be low-paying entertainment/hospitality related for the most part. You won't be living the high-class lifestyle with a job in Vegas. You'll be almost middle-class but in a high cost of living area, so upper-poor.
>>
>>2121417
Decent analysis. How much are the hookers?
>>
>>2121427
SWs are under 200 everywhere in burgerstan. I think I gave one of them 2 and one 160.

If they charge more than 2 then they're either super hot or a scammer. LE usually only goes after the hot ones so they can exploit them and most of them get ignored. You can still get some good looking bangers for under 2. I have a few Asians I can call for about 160/hr.

Don't use message boards at all. Use the ad sites or meet them in person
>>
>>2121428
>I have a few Asians I can call for about 160/hr.
>Interest piqued

Can you drop an ad site?
>>
>>2121430
google it. i can't give sites. there's thousands of them. just don't use message boards because the reviews are how they bust people (if they do). It takes you pissing someone important off for them to really do anything, like the LE that owns the club or something, or they're raging against other guys and are just "cleaning house" which means arresting random men for random reasons to thin the herd because the jail population and monthly income threshold has dropped too low.
>>
>>2121317
>their economy depends entirely on gambling and charging outrageous prices for everything

If you live there, its different. I think another anon mentioned this but there's a tourist economy and a local economy. Locals go to locals bars where they pour strong drinks for a few bucks (some are open 24/7 for the night shift workers) and locals casinos (the "Station" casinos) where you can play a hand for $3 and the buffets on the strip have a secret discount for those who can show a Nevada ID. Locals don't go to the strip to buy or do anything unless they have a good reason to. There are other parts of town where the locals gather.

Still, I advise people to not move there unless they have a job lined up. The casinos pay shit and all have high turnover because they pay shit but they don't care because there's a million other no-skills retards who wind up there and will take these jobs. If you have a profession that pays well anywhere then moving there probably makes sense.
>>
>>2121451
I've been to Palace station but none of the others. I didn't really hit the strip like a tourist besides the first time, although I did to to New York New York just about every time because it was close to where I was staying and I love one of the bars there. I usually stayed at Wild Wild West because I was a trucker.

I was down there in January trying to find a non-casino job and couldn't find anything at all. Even temp agencies weren't hiring.
>>
>>2121405
Move to Northern Nevada and post up somewhere outside of and not inside of Reno. COL is not THAT bad with the work you can get.
>>
Another born and raised Vegas anon here. It's a pretty fucked up place right now in terms of being able to afford to live. The taxes are low, and if you got a place before the pandemic/past few years, like I did, the cost of living is awesome (I have a roommate, own my home in a nice and safe area, and my monthly cost of living is ~$600). But the prevalence of remote work is kicking the ass of the housing market right now. Rent is high, home cost is high, and people from California have been charging in here and buying homes with straight up cash, like $500,000.

Wages haven't really matched that, and outside of the casino industry, opportunities are limited. I work in advertising tech, and there's really only two companies here that are actually competitive, and I've already worked for and left one, so I have basically no other future options here. The jobs just aren't that great if you want to be a professional, and not just a wageslave.

I'm part of the problem, I just got some remote job that's paying me $135k to sit in the house, when my previous highest pay in this city was $75k, and I'm a corporate exec type. No job here will be able to compete with it unless major industry changes happen, but this town just doesn't attract top talent.

Frankly, I feel like this city is going to turn into one of the biggest examples of the people who have everything but don't contribute to the economy being served by the people who can barely make ends meet.
>>
>>2123580
Shhh keep northern NV a secret bro. It's like living in Colorado with half the cost of living.
>>
The best part about Vegas is the people, even the nogs are pretty cool there.
>>
>>2121417
you licked ass of a whore and even paid for that, cringe
>>
>>2124405
Larping boomer identified. If you're so rich then why the fuck are you on 4chan? Nobody can buy a house in Vegas. They're all half a million plus and you're in Vegas, where the only thing you can do is lose money because it's so expensive.
>>
>>2125972
I didn't pay either of them besides a few of those single shot bottles of Tennessee Honey and some mixed drinks at the casino bar in my hotel.
>>

>it never snows and hardly gets cold
I visited there once and it snowed. I only packed a sweater so it was freezing. I feel lied to because I was trying to escape the snow at home.
